We are mostly done with our bathroom remodel. However, there are few items we still need to buy, although there is no rush to do so. For example, we want to get a new chandelier to match with the new decor. We have had our existing chandelier for 24+ years, so we're ready for another one. During lunch today, I popped into Lighting Inc. to check out their selection of chandeliers. I understood they were having a sell, so I was all in. Lighting Inc. had a good assortment of chandeliers. Abraham and another sales person greeted me as soon as I walked into the store. Abraham also showed me how to look online for even a greater selection. This was super helpful. I was scouting out some potential chandeliers and then I was planning on conversing with the hubs on a final selection. More work still to do.. read more

Summary: Poor Experience with bad expectation setting and not following up on what they say they will. You're better off going elsewhere for lighting as it is not worth the hassle or headache in any way shape or form. My wife and i visited the store a few weeks back to look at lighting. We were initially ignored throughout the store until walking all the way to the back, to eventually have someone ask if we needed any help. Already off to a bad start given there were numerous employees walking past us, some happily chatting to one another instead of looking out for customers. When we were helped, the gentlemen was very helpful and went through numerous books to try and find the style of light we wanted, so we cannot fault that, it was great. Our experience from that point onwards with Cassidy in the store, and Scott over the phone were both poor. Cassidy set us bad expectations that the two lights we ordered (not in stock in the store at the time) would take a few days to arrive (they took a few weeks), which was extremely frustrating to say the least. After spending time calling and chasing them, Taylor who was very helpful multiple times on the phone, advised Cassidy would return our call to explain the delay and bad communication issues. She did not and so we spoke with Scott, her supervisor after calling back again to chase. Scott offered an explanation as to why there would be a delay (freight related), and called to check on the status of the two lights at the warehouse. While that was appreciated, he also did not return my call to give me accurate times for delivery as he said he would, because 'he got busy' as he put it. These interactions show that little value is put on the customer here, and more focus is on high transaction levels and making money. Overall this is absolutely poor customer service and the opposite of what we expected, given we could have bought the light elsewhere online and received it much sooner. To remedy this, Scott delivered the lights to us the same day which we appreciated, but it does not make up for the poor communication, lack of service and terrible way this store handles its customers. I would not recommend this as a place to visit to purchase your lighting fixtures, but if you must, look around and then buy it elsewhere; you will be glad you avoided the same headache we have for the last few weeks. read more

Kind of my "go to" store for light fixtures. One of the largest and nicest lighting showrooms in Austin. They carry ceiling fixtures, sconces and lamps. Styles range from contemporary to the "old world" look. I found a pot rack/light fixture here for a client who opened a children's cooking school. It looked great when installed. Brian Johnston is the sales associate I have found to be most helpful. The sales staff works on commission and they can sometimes quote a price "off list" for you, particularly if you are purchasing more than one fixture. read more

We just purchased 11 lights as part of a whole house remodel and used Lighting Inc for all of these purchases, totaling several thousand dollars. Of the 11 lights we ordered, we had issues with 6 of them and no real help from LI to resolve the issues. Unbelievably poor customer service during the whole project. Two WAC pendant lights kept losing their connection days after installation. When we contacted LI, they told us WAC is a great brand and they should be working. We had to call the manufacturer directly to find out it's a known issue (the shades are too heavy and pull the connection loose) with no fix. LI didn't even offer to help with this. A second light from Corbett looked lovely when hung, but the light shone BRIGHT ORANGE when turned on because of the coating inside the diffuser. None of the pictures in the catalogs or online represented this. LI just shrugged their shoulders and said "Oh well", refusing to call the manufacturer. I called Corbett directly who offered to send a different diffuser for free. In the dining room, we ordered five lights as part of a group display. LI ordered two of the wrong lights that had to be returned. Then, during installation, we discovered that one had the wrong finish and had to be returned. Salesman reordered the wrong light again and had to be returned. Then waited three weeks for them to get the replacement light and finally cancelled the order and bought it elsewhere. Lighting Inc was able to fulfill all of my lighting dreams at competitive pricing and believe me, I shop around for the best deals. But on top of that, Scott is truly a lighting expert. On site, he pointed out relatively inexpensive ways to optimize our lighting within our architecture, and we never would have thought of it, but what a difference. He taught me so much about temperature/color and provided incredible customer service from coming out to the house to evaluate ceiling heights and natural light to being in touch during ordering, even when he was on vacation! We have used Lighting Inc for our projects since 2007. They are NOT a retail lighting showroom so don't expect to walk-in and be able to purchase lights off the floor (although they do sell floor models). As is the case with all showrooms that we purchase through, ALWAYS make an appointment with a sales person before you go in. You will be pleased with the customer service, as you will have 100% of their attention. If you don't have an appointment your time is best spent walking the showroom, getting general ideas, leaving with a few catalogs and coming back to meet with a salesperson when you have an appointment. We initially used Lighting, Inc for all the lighting in our house when we were building our custom home. Their selection was great, and their prices were unbeatable. Bryan Crier worked with us and was super helpful and responsive. That was four years ago. Over the last couple of years, we have had a couple of fixtures broken (mainly by kids). Bryan has continued to go above and beyond in helping us find replacement parts. This week he sent me home with three entirely new fixtures just so I could find the right part for one light, and then return what I didn't need! I went to Lighting Inc. for parts for my handyman to install under cabinet lighting. They were quite a bit cheaper than light fantastic so I obviously went with them. I gave my measurements to our salesman Abraham, and he gathered all the things we would need to get the job done. Unfortunately, he gave us the wrong parts and I had to go back and forth twice {15 miles each way}. Lighting Inc. has a 2 week return policy for unused parts and my handyman went slightly over that time frame and LI kindly took the parts back which I am grateful for. read more

I would like to highly recommend Shayla who helped me find a fixture on the phone after viewing their website. She went beyond and above. So, I have to say that my experiences here differ based on your sales assistant but they have a great selection and if you get a sales rep like I did you will be 100% satisfied. She researched the catalogs and called the warehouses looking for the perfect fixture for me. I just completed a major remodeling of our home. A big part of that was selecting ceiling lighting, outside lighting, accent lighting, and specialty art lighting. I spent many hours reviewing our blue prints with Scott Bailey at Lighting Inc. He took a lot of time and did a great job of researching specific fixtures and bulbs , paying close attention to the lumens of each light to be sure I got what I wanted. This applied to simple utilitarian fixtures all the way to custom art type fixtures. He really cared about getting the right fixture for each application. I had to use this company because they were the lighting company that our home builder used. Unfortunately we had a defective fixture and I soon realized their customer service and their ability to professionally conduct their business was non-existent. Scott (manager) has failed to return calls and solve simple problems. Other staff members seem to lack the ability to communicate with its customers or talk amongst one another. I would never choose this company personally or professionally and will do what I can to have our builder decide on a different lighting company for the sake of future home owners. The sales team here leaves much to be desired. I spoke with an middle aged gentleman when I was in there on Dec 22nd. He didn't listen to anything I said. I told him that I was remodeling a 1940s home and wanted to stay true to the time period as I was looking for lights. So he suggested a modern vanity. I wasn't shopping for a vanity. We looked through catalogs and he suggested no additional vintage looking light fixtures other than what I came in inquiring about. When he was done talking to me, he just walked away. And then when I followed him because I thought he was getting something for me--he turned and said, "I'm not really a salesman." Then why did he introduce himself that way to me? We needed a lot of light fixtures for our house renovation. We went everywhere in Austin and ended up making most purchases at Lighting Inc. and City Lights. Lighting Inc. has a large showroom plus lots more available from catalogues. Joe Ebbs helped us and was great. He matched or beat prices from other lighting stores, and researched bulb types for us when needed. We also got some great sconces for $25 and $32 on closeout. Note: This isn't a big box store where everything you see is in stock. Most of our items were special orders. Also, it's best to make an appointment with a salesperson before you go. (This is true for many building-related vendors.) Not good. We boght a ceiling fan for my home office that has worked only about 5 times since installation. Lighting Inc. sent repair tech out a couple of times to replace random parts, but it would stop working as soon as they left. Seems like a manufacturer warranty thing to me, but Lighting Inc. says that we have to pay to replace it, including paying them again to install it or the warranty on the new one is void. We have bought a track system from them. We got the information that all parts could be delivered and nothing would be on backorder. Later we were informed everything was shipped. When we tried to pick up the parts the pendants were not delivered. We had made already an appointment with an electrician to install the tracks. They told us the electrician of the company "Illumitech" could insttall the pendants. It took some weeks until the pendants were delivered. Illumitech came but one part of the track system had no power, what we had checked with the other electrician before. They did not check the cause of the problem but left our home without completing the installation. We would not sit with that problem if they had delivered as promised. Never again! read more

I spent over $4,000 on a chandelier here and one of the crystals was broken on delivery. I asked for a replacement part and on the first attempt the incorrect part was ordered. I was assured the correct part would be ordered in its place but after months, I called and nothing had been done. I have called repeatedly since and even visited the store trying to get assistance with this issue and after 2+ years...I still have no replacement piece. I was very disappointed in my experience at Lighting, Inc. I had first gone on their web site and printed out details on a couple of bathroom light fixtures, as well as several floor and table lamps. I had planned to purchase one bath fixture, 1 floor lamp, and 1 table lamp. Unfortunately, none of them were at the store, nor did the salesman try to show me anything similar. He told me instead that I could order them from the catalog. I had no issue with that, until he said that all catalog orders are considered "special orders" and are non refundable. How can a store expect you to purchase something sight unseen, then refuse to refund your money or even give you a store credit if the item is not what was expected? Since I was about to spend over $500, I was not willing to take a chance, and just left. And like Rae P., I felt that the staff there couldn't care less if I purchased something or not. Perhaps they have had a changeover in personnel, because of the 2 other reviews, the poorer-rated one (and the one most similar to my experience) is more recent. read more

Brad Bailey did call me back the same day, but I couldn't talk at the time he called... so I called him back approximately 10mins later (around 2pm) and he was in a meeting. I left a message and did not receive a call back. However, a service tech arrived 2 days later at our medical office (no appointment and coordination at all) we were very busy with patients when the 2 gruff looking guys showed up with a work order (apparently Brad had talked with Gabriel because I never had a chance to give Brad the specifics, because the guys showed up with a detailed work order to fix 3 of the problems on the list) I was happy to see anyone that would fix our problems so I allowed them to start immediately. BAD IDEA! Service tech was not told that our light fixtures were 277 volts (new energy saver type, but a licensed guy should be able to figure this out, right???) He DIDN'T and installed a 120 volt fixture from his truck instead. 5minutes later and over whelming burning smell took over the office. UNREAL! Service tech quickly uninstalled it and figured out that he had the wrong type... I guess I should have been happy he found the mistake before he left as something probably would have caught on fire. They will be out again today with the correct unit, fingers crosses! FYI still have not had a call back from Lighting Inc since Brads 1st attempt. Meaning that their are several issues that have still not even been address, even if the 2 guys complete what they started yesterday. read more

AMAZING customer service here! I went to 4 stores to find a simple lamp dimmer part. Although Lighting Inc. did not carry the part, they sent me somewhere to get the part (not only did they tell me exactly where it was, but they wrote the store name, phone number and address down for me) and told me to come back for installation if necessary. The place that carried the part had a two week wait and it would have cost $40. Darby and everyone else at Lighting Inc. were so friendly and installed the part (in five minutes!) for free and threw in a lightbulb to boot. They would not accept any money for any of it. Every person I encountered was helpful and friendly, from the person who worked the front desk all the way up to the manager, who I thanked for such great service. I may be in the market for lighting soon and this is the first place I will go. read more

Outstanding service from Darby yesterday. A chandelier we bought 18 years ago at Lighting Inc started coming apart when I tried to straighten out a tilt. It has always been a problem due to faulty installation by the homebuilder. I must say that I honestly believe the comment from "Digital E" was intended for a different Lighting place up the street called "Lights Fantastic". I had gone to Lights Fantastic because of a Groupon I bought and I must say it wasn't worth it! I stood around forever waiting to be helped and no one would even ackowledge my presence. I get people are busy especially on a Saturday but I finally just left out of pure frustration and decided to go down the street to Lighting Inc. As I walked in I could see it was pretty busy but I was greeted and told someone would be right with me. A couple of minutes later and I was helped. They had a much BIGGER showroom than Lights Fantastic and it was nothing like what I was dreading based on "Digital E's" comment.
