Pickle margarita (bread and butter, not salty dill)
Kerry T.

This place is so cool! The interior is very heavy metal/hard rock/Ozzy Osborne (queue the bat headless bat reference) so it went well with our desire to attend another "Halloween" bar. We had already eaten, so didn't order pizza, but it looked and smelled amazing! I'd like to taste it next time. We had drinks and I had the pickle margarita, which apparently is quite popular. For me, it wasn't salty enough and had more of a bread and butter pickle vibe, which is not what I was expecting. I was expecting more of a salty dill flavor. Nonetheless, they have an impressive drink menu and the service was good.

10/10 vibes and the food keeps up! They have a small menu, but there are very unique options and the chance to build your own pizza if none of them speak to you. They also have a fun drink menu with unique flavors. The pizza was great and was such a fun place to dine at!

This place gets better every time I visit! They have very unique (and delicious) specialty cocktails and the pizza is to-die-for. The Blood Moon is a favorite cocktail of mine and while I love allllllll of the pizza, the Thai curry is nice for something different than you can get anywhere else. The service is always amazing, and you canNOT beat the vibes if you're into metal music, old horror films, pinball, or anything a lil' weird.

Pineapple, jalapeños, bell peppers w/ pepp on 1/2

Sweet decor, horror films on the TVs, range of beers with a full bar and a few specialty cocktails. The pizza had a nice and chewy crust... and before you ask, yes, pineapple always belongs on pizza. We came on a weekday (Thursday) around 9pm, and were the only patrons in there. We'd like to check it out again over the summer with patio weather and hopefully more people!

(May 2025) The Headless Bat is situated off Morgan Ford on what I call the "food alley". You will only find street parking as there is no dedicated parking lot to the restaurant. My friend was visiting from out of town and for his first night here, I wanted to take him to The Headless Bat. It was right up our alley and a place I'd been wanting to visit for some time. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was very attentive and welcoming. We absolutely loved the drink titles and ordered Angel Dust (me) and Gremlin Tit (him) respectively. When I took a sip of my drink, I was instantly blown away by how crafty their cocktails were. The Angel Dust had a Serbian plum brandy, Italian vermouth, cherry bark vanilla bitters, simple syrup and luxardo cherry. I was not expecting that from a metal pizza joint. I was honestly expecting beers, burping and pizza! We shared a Rattlehead pizza which is an 18" pizza with salami, pepperoni, pepperoncini, red onion, Italian herbs and garlic aioli. My friend, the true adventurer wanted a side of Murder Spice which I am sure is on the Hot Ones show level and something I could not tolerate too much of personally. When the pizza arrived, it was piping hot and had a great cheese pull. The slices are huge, so we only ate 2-3 each and took the rest home. We finished our visit there with the most amazing dessert cocktail - their Oreo Fernet Shot (fernet menta infused with Oreo cookies). We could have easily had 4 of those shots but someone had to drive us home! I will send all of my friends there whether local or from out of town! It's so metal (decor/theme/music) with a little bougie (cocktails) and I am here for it!

Didn't try the food, just came for drinks. I had the Angel Dust which was really good. I thought it was a little pricey for what it was, though. We sat at the bar, and the service was great. The place wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is so cool. It's heavy metal themed, and I appreciate their dedication to the theme. I was hoping more for some hair metal, but it was a little heavier than that, which was fine. I loved the decor. If you're faint of heart or easily offended, you might not appreciate the decor as much as I did. Overall, unique place. I'll be back to try the food.

New St. Louis Bar Alert Headless Bat is located at the corner Morgan Ford and Hartford near Tower Grove Park, in the former home of the London Tea Room. It's all street parking, some meters on Morgan Ford, but none on the side streets. Find them on Instagram @headlessbatstl They are a heavy metal & horror bar with a killer pizza menu & jumbo wings. The food and drinks have some pretty metal names like 'Creeping Breath' pizza with garlic cloves, sausage, onions and peppers. Or what about the 'Blood Moon' cocktail with Encrypted vodka, St. Germain, litchi, lemon, simple, and blood orange. That one was my favorite! They were sold out of pizza when we visited, but they do have a regular crust option & cauliflower crust option. It's definitely a one of a kind place in STL!

This place is fantastic. Awesome ambiance and decor, great vibe, pizza and wings are LEGIT, beer menu is , and the entire staff is accommodating beyond measure. Taylor took care of our party of 10 (!!!) last night and made it look effortless. Shelby seated us and checked in on us, and she was equally fantastic. Their specialty pizzas were delicious, and the runaway surprise hit was a good ol' sausage and pepperoni! Bear in mind that this IS a metal bar and the music is loud. I'm not at all a metal fan, but I'll be back because this place checks all the boxes AND offers a unique and fun experience. Did I mention they have four pinball machines, too?! Fun for all!!!

The cocktail menu is fun and packed full of flavor - I had the Queen Wasp, which is a fun play on a margarita.

It was more than just a few minutes before a server came over. We ordered cocktails and then got serious about choosing our meals. We eventually decided and placed our orders. We got pretzel bites and cheese to start and it was fine. Then our food came out! I think most of us got burgers. I know someone got the fried chicken sandwich and said it was good. The smash burgers were good. About half of the fries were good and the rest were overcooked. The cocktails were good! Our service could have been a little better. Our server was somewhat efficient. She wasn't overly friendly or attentive. Maybe they were short staffed but I don't know. I just know that service was lacking. There are many things to look at on the walls! Walk in and there are plenty of tables, a couple of gathering areas, standing room narrow tables, an outdoor area, and a room off to the side. I went for the Logboat Dark Matter which I have had before in a can and wanted to try on draft. I enjoyed it very much. You know what is great?! Since they don't have food, you can bring it in yourself. Both times our group has met up here Katie's Pizza is the choice and its in the same parking lot. You can't go wrong with Katie's. Bartender is on the ball and friendly, TV's all around, not too loud so you can talk. Wednesday nights they have Trivia and I stayed for the first round, it was very current for the current event category. Get a pizza from Katie's, go here, have a beer, have fun!

I enjoyed that quiet space for a bit and the afternoon air after the walk from Cortex made the wait feel intentional rather than inconvenient. Comfortable seating out here and the light breeze with the afternoon light was nice as I cranked out a few Yelp reviews before I spotted other customers going inside. After setting up at the huge table in the corner, I stepped up to the bar where I was warmly greeted. I chose their Fish Fry, which they call a light lager. It was in a huge mug and that worked out just fine for me as it lasted a while. Oh, and some chicken wings. These were tasty buggers. Served quite hot with a rub that was more spice than sauce. Very yummy and the two sauces were perfect accompaniment. Absolutely delicious. Not long after, friends arrived and I shifted from solo laptop time to conversation. It's nice to see how Rockwell handles the flow of customers. Casual, attentive, friendly. Just right for a great brewpub and a great time. They do have a parking lot. It was just an easy experience today and a great spot for a meetup or hanging out on your own. [Round number review 400 of 2026 - 498 in Missouri - 25583 overall]

The acoustics at times are loud, but you can still hear your friends gathered around the table. My recent visit as always, was to meet-up with some friends. I started out with a Raspberry Beret one of their specialty cocktails. It was my favorite vodka, Tito's with Raspberry syrup and lemon. It was shaken, not stirred and severed up like a martini. Prince would have given it a thumbs up. After some intense conversations with my buds, I ordered some food and a beer. I typically get their famous burger with fries or the chicken wings, but I got adventurous and ordered the nachos. When I asked the bartender how they were, he said that's what he was having for dinner and showed me his plate which sold me. It may have only been an appetizer, but it was filling and easy to eat while enjoying more convo. I'm a fan of Avery Brewing in Colorado, so I had their White Rascal as my beer. Rockwell is so close to getting a 5 Star rating from me, but they keep missing the mark on the customer service. It's good, but some of the staff treat older customers differently then those their age. This visit, one of them was cold and had attitude. After a few tips, they warmed up and provided friendly service and actually got chatty. So I think next time, they may just get the bump to 5.
