I was very disappointed this week. Been going to the hat for over 45 years. I ordered a Pastrami sandwich and a Steak sandwich extra well done. Got to the drive-through window to pay. My order was up really fast. So I told the cashier that I wanted it extra well done. I don't want to het home and notice that it was not how I wanted it and that I'm not in a rush. Only 1 car behind me still ordering. It seemed to quick. He said' in sarcasm, THIS IS FAST FOOD YOU KNOW, what did I expect? Young punk. I wanted to drag him out the window lol. I hadn't been to The Hat here in Glendora for about 7 years. I figured the quality of the food would have gone down, as usually happens with restaurants. But I was happily surprised to see that the pastrami is still excellent, the portion abundant and the fries are incredible! These are the best fries I think I've ever had, and I always order a side portion of gravy which is only 99 cents and delicious. This place is well known for its Pastrami. I am not a big pastrami fan so I cannot really say anything about it. However, I do order the chili cheese fries, regular fries, onion rings, grilled cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches. Everything I have had is just average in my opinion. The prices for individual items on the menu are quite high but the quantity of food you get is insanely humongous. I mean when you order fries you get like a large brown paper lunch sack FULL of fries. The chili cheese fries are huge too. To me the chili is just ok. If you were to order one of their pastrami sandwiches and a large chile cheese fry you could easily feed 3 people. That been said, I would give this place 3 and a half if I could and I think it is worth the time and money if you have never been here. read more

The Hat was one of the many contributor's to me weighing almost 400 pounds. Almost 3 times a week my friends and I would end our nights of parting and drinking at The Hat to stuff ourselves right before we called it a night. Since we would go so much I usually alternated what super fattening custom combo I would order. One night I would order The Hat's world famous Pastrami dip and an order of chili cheese fries. The pastrami is a huge sandwich stuffed (over flowing stuffed) with the best tasting pastrami ever. The chili cheese fries served at The Hat can honestly feed at least 3 people. Even a guy like myself who was the size of a small bear could not finish all this food by myself. I always had a few drunk friends to help me finish off the fries. The second combo I used to order was the double chili cheese burger with avocado and an order of onion rings. The burger was so hard to eat. They put so much chili on the burger that they have to wrap it in three pieces of paper to keep the chili from soaking through. Even though my heart would ache after eating a whole one I would still dream about the next time I would have the opportunity to have one. The onion rings from The Hat are also amazing. They serve the rings in a huge brown paper bag. They do this because they know you will end up taking some home. Now I can no longer eat like I used too. Living a few blocks from this place is hard. It's like living next to an ex you no longer talk to but still have to see every day. Oh well, I will always have my memories. read more

The Hat is the best fast food money can buy. The portions are insanely large and cooked to order. Everything is pretty much shareable. Especially, if you get one of their burgers or sandwiches and a side of fries. The small fry is enough for two people. Hands down, their chili cheese fries are the best out there! I have not found any thing else better and you won't either. One order of these fries can easily feed 3 people. I do wish they came in a smaller portion, because I crave them so often. I can barely make a dent in them on my own and I feel so guilty waisting the rest. They don't taste good reheated at a later time, I've tried, both in the oven and microwave. So, I always have to rally someone up to have them with me. There was one rare occasion where my chili cheese fry order tasted like cardboard! Weird I know, but aside from that one time I've never had any other complaints. The pastrami sandwich is also delicious, as are their hamburgers. I'm forever yours, The Hat. Forever. I've been going to the Hat since I was little so this review is being penned by a Hat vet. My main choice is their Pastrami. It's not greasy and the thin, abundant slices make for a delicious sandwich and/or over their famous chili cheese fries. I also like their beverage choices (orange bang and piña colada, too) and even the cool row of condiments. There is something for every variety and persuasion. When you walk into this Glendora location, I can assure you you'll see every age, every color and creed. Plus, the restaurant has that golden age feel of the 1950s and 1960s that is nearly extinct in this area (look at all the construction). With inflation, the prices have gone way up since my younger years, but the quality is the same. The bites at the Hat are etched in my mind: fresh, well-made, delicious hot dogs, fries, burgers, and sandwiches. The Hat is one of my favorite places in Glendora. The Hat is a Southern CA tradition, and an appropriate one. Good food for ridiculously low prices. I'm not going to sit here and say that the Pastrami is the best in the world, because it's not like other Pastramis. I'll tell you that it is one PERFECTsandwich. It's greasy, messy, huge, and full of taste. When you get a craving for the Hat Pastrami, you are pretty much done for until you get one in your hand. The chili cheese fries are out of this world for the price and my only complaint is that there's too much (but please don't change it!!) for my wife and I to split a partrami and a chili cheese fries. Their other sandwiches are also great, or so my wife tells me because I refuse to order anything outside of the Pastrami and their chili cheese burger. Something must be said for their chili - it's the perfect condiment chili, whether on fries, hot dogs, or burgers. Their chili cheese burgers come with the perfect amount of onions and mustard for a great tast. I am very surprised that I haven't written a review for this place as I have been going to this place for years. Unlike the original location, this place is a lot bigger. Parking should not be a problem, even when it is busy. There is decent size dining area where there is plenty of room for parties of various sizes. There is also outdoor tables if you choose to go with that. The restrooms are small but clean and well maintained. The one thing that really stands out with the food are the portions. They are huge! I usually get a couple of things at this place: a double cheeseburger, pastrami dip, and chili cheese fries. The double cheeseburger comes with thousand island sauce, large slices of tomatoes, onions and lots of shredded lettuce. The burgers are thin, but large, and don't overpower the taste of the burger. Overall, the burgers here are solid. The pastrami dip is enough for two meals or two people. Its a bit on the salty side if I had to gripe about it, but overall, the addition of mustard and the bread with it taste pretty good. The chili cheese fries is a mission to finish. There is plenty of meat in the chili and the cheese is on top of it. I tend to start at the bottom of the pile and work my way up to make sure there's still some cheese and chili left towards the end. Another addition people like to do is add pastrami, which makes it really massive! The service here ranges from unsatisfactory to acceptable. Depends on the time and when you go. The drive thru is a popular option, but I suggest getting out and grabbing all of the condiments you can. There's a lot to choose from! Overall, if I'm super hungry and want my money's worth, I would always consider this place. read more

I will admit that most of the time I love going to the hat, but I have recently found out about an error they've been making charging cards twice. I suggest you check you bank statements cuz they do NOTHING about it!!! He said the bank SHOULD know it's a mistake & to contact them (my bank) I'm sorry but having to go through the pain in the ass of contacting my equally annoying bank, rather than the MANAGER correcting this issue is infuriating. Why not just offer the person a credit so they don't have to deal with all the bull shit. That would guarantee the person eat at your rip off restaurant at least one more time & remind them that the food IS good. If it wasn't put off for a whole weekend before even contacting me I'd probably continue to eat there another 20 years had they just gave me a credit or whatever. Or maybe only THIS location had the problem of ripping you off. ( I WAS told I wasn't the only one complaining) So imagine how many people don't even know they've been charged twice. Sad!!!!!!!!! Always check that you're only charged once when using your card here. So wrong!!!!!! I feel so robbed!!!! & would've excepted such an easy alternative. Credit! Credit for the amount that was STOLLEN. My friend order some hot dogs and I ordered their chili cheese fries. Best chili cheese fries ever! Like others have mention the portions are big so you better come hungry!! I can still remember the good ol' days when the pastrami's were under 3 bucks. I grew up MPK so going to the OG Hat was a weekly ritual, the bus stops right across the street. I thought all of the other Hats were bogus, but not this one. The pastrami is as good as the OG, EZ mustard and don't cut it in half, 1 order of "small" fries well done and a cherry coke.
