First of all, We had horrible service at this Hat location. I understand we are all going through a pandemic which is why we wanted to have dinner and support a local business. We have not been to this location before and did not know the set up. We have been supporting the Hat location in Monterey Park for over 25 years and normally the food and rhr service are good. This location actually had a drive thru. There was an option to place your order and pay online to pick up at a specific time, which we did. When we arrived, we proceeded to walk to the door but there was a a few different signs, one saying to use the drive thru. The only problem with that is there were several cars and there was no way for us to bypass and pick up our prepaid food that was getting cold. My suggestion to the hat is to not accept online orders after a certain time if there isn't an option to pick up that doesn't require you to wait in 20 minute line. When we arrived at the window I asked the guy at the register if our food was made to order or when we checked in because we wanted to make sure we received hot food. He took major offense and said that the order was made when we said we would arrive. I was trying to make a suggestion that perhaps they give an alternative to prepay but he was not paying attention and threw the bags of my food to the side saying, fine he would make new food for the customer but pointing out we were wrong? I was trying to be nice and he was talking to other employees, pretty much being a jerk ignoring me to which I'm like, thank you for ignoring me. We did receive our food and finally drove away. Sadly, the food wasn't even good. It was hot but the pastrami was REALLY OILY, like gross. The fries were undercooked. I wanted to like my food after all that. Bad food, you may get a second chance but rude or dismissive employees is an automatic fail. We won't be going back to this location. Pandemic or not, do not yell or treat the customer like you don't care. read more

I have visited this and other locations many timesand they have steadily been lowering the quality and quantity of their food. While not horrid, not good either. Their Fries used to be crispy and fresh, now all I get are soggy old fries that taste like old oil. I doubt they regularly change their fry oil or they use recycled oil. they obviously don't care about what and how much they serve their customers. I don't mind paying more for the same old quality and size, but they've lowered quality & quantity and raised the price. They've lost another customer. They were extremely rude to the guests before me and I was second guessing myself if I should stay and order. The cashier was rude to both customers in front of me. Very short and aggressively talking down to them. I was not looking forward to this encounter. As soon as it was my turn, I had to wait 10 minutes for the cashier to get bumped out and finish their conversations about wanting to go home. I waited, annoyed at this, gave my order and the only thing he said to me was "sign here". Didn't give me to total. Didn't acknowledge that I was there. Just looked at his register the entire time. It was my first time visiting this hat location. It was very clean they had just opened up for lunch. My fiancé highly recommended the French fries with chili cheese pickles and tomatoes. Wow!!! These things were massive!!! Definitely enough to feed four people. Very tasty I love the pickles added to it. We also got a hotdog each. He got his with chili & I got mine with mustard relish and onions. It didn't have the flavor ,I'm used to. I wont get the hotdog again but they do have pretty good pastramis ,cheeseburgers and tamale pie's. And the french fries with gravy sauce is pretty amazing too!!! The Hat is one of our favorite stops on road trips to and from So Cal. This location is down the street from The Donut Man another favorite stop for us. Pastrami Dip and Onion Rings are my go to. The Mr is partial to the Pastrami Burger and Chili Cheese Fries. Food is cheap and delicious. Gotta get an Orange or Pina Coloda Bang to drink. Portions are huge.
