Great place for breakfast and lunch. Clean, friendly, and great atmosphere. First time here and what a breakfast I had.

Looking for something beside a chain restaurant. Great burgers! Cooked fresh to order. Fries and onion rings were awesome. Fast, friendly service. read more

While the burgers taste great, customer service really makes The Grill standout in Dalhart, Texas. We drive through Dalhart in the Texas Panhandle once or twice a year while traversing the route from North Texas to Colorado. Tiring of franchise joints along US 287, we trust Apple Map directions to The Grill on Cherry Street. At 2pm on a Monday afternoon, customers continue to fill the booths and counter seats. The menu includes a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, chicken fried steak and plenty of sides. They also offer malts--malts you want to drink to the bottom and beyond. After taking our order, our waitress helps a moderately disabled customer through the door. She also sits with a elderly couple to take their order. She seems to know the names of all her customers and they know her. When the place becomes filled the staff mixes and matches with customers seamlessly. Other restaurants could use this family-owned business as a customer service model. The burgers we eat are among the best between Dallas and Denver. The onion rings... Well, the onion rings host way too much heavy batter. A restaurant with this much cooking and customer savvy might do well to learn how to make onion rings using light-weight tempura batter. read more

The Grill - Even after 2pm, plenty of cars still fill the parking lot of The Grill on Cherry Street in Dalhart, Texas. - Burgers Near Me - Dalhart, Texas

In a counter-point to Sandra C.'s review, I just want to say that I thought The Grill was FANTASTIC! I'm so glad we got off the highway & tried this little gem! Our green chili bacon cheeseburgers were crazy good! The prices were more than reasonable & the portions generous! The waitstaff was so polite, friendly & gracious; AND the place was immaculately clean. So if you find yourself up in Dalhart check out The Grill! read more

Not a quick meal. My kids and I stopped here while driving through town hoping to get a quick bite to eat. A large group of folks arrived and sat down after us. After waiting 15 minutes to get our order taken, the waitress proceeded to go over to the folks who had just arrived to get their order. When I asked the waitress if we could place our order first, she hesitated. We left as we didn't have more time to invest in this establishment. read more

Driving back to Colorado stopped at this small eat in or take away. Had cheeseburger, fries and onion rings. Found a beautiful park (Veterans Memorial) a couple minutes away and ate our delicious food there under large trees. Great experience all around !! read more

I had to add this place because it's in the middle of nowhere and people need to know about it. If for whatever reason you find yourself in Dalhart, Texas stop in. The Grill has the best burgers I've ever tasted. I would consider myself a burger connoisseur, so when I tell you that their burgers are unbeatable you can take that to the bank! The Grill has all the makings of a small town diner, but their food has big taste. During a road trip two years ago I discovered this place and it blew me away. Granted I had low expectations, but I never expected to get the food I did. They had a sign out front that said "Best Burgers in Texas" so I thought that I would give them a chance. I ordered their Grade A beef cheese burger with a side of fries and a Dr. Pepper and after taking one bite I was a believer. The burger was juicy and seasoned with some sort of awesomeness. It was so fresh and delicious that my wife took a bite and ordered a burger as well even though she had ordered a salad initially. The fries were homemade and rivaled the burger in taste. They were just as fresh as the meat in the burger and I was in heaven. I live in Arizona but that burger made me wish I lived in the small town of Dalhart, Texas. read more

This is the best burger joint between Amarillo and Raton. Well it's the only burger joint. The food is ok. The prices are fair. The cleanliness is hideous. We order chicken strips that came out of a food distribution house that was then freezer burned and over fried. To get to the single toilet you must walk through the kitchen. Did I say that the cleanliness was gross? All in all, this is one of your few options going through this area. read more

Save yourself the time and keep driving through town. If you don't mind a dirty hole in the wall with food that taste like crap them Go ahead and waste the 40 minutes it will take to get the food you won't be able to eat! read more

These reviews are spot on. This is really a small place with big flavors. The store is clean and the service was great. My wife and I had a green chili cheeseburger and split one order of fries. There were allot of fries. The burger was really good. Also the fries are some of the best ever. We were just passing through. Will return next trip through. read more

Not much for looks outside. Drove past twice before asking locals where to eat. Parking lt was full and so were all the seats! That's a good clue. Got the What's It burger and rings. The grill is in ready view of the seating area and counter. This food looks so good and the staff is hometown friendly. read more

We stopped here on our way back from Angelfire. We called in takeout since the snow added a lot of time to our trip and The Grill did not disappoint!! My daughters got grilled cheese and a corn dog. Both said they were yummy. My husband got the steak fingers "because he wasn't that hungry"......to quote him "these are freakin awesome, I wish I would've got more!!". The employees were super sweet and everything was very clean. The only default was the bathroom is in the kitchen and there is only one so don't go in really having to go! We will stop here again on our next ski trip! read more

Traveling through town and was pleasantly surprised! Great burgers!! Amazing onion rings!! Will most definitely make a stop the next time we come through the area. read more

A slightly above average burger. Overly hot inside in summer. Saw some practices that concerned us. Will not return due to what we saw. ... Without going into detail, the owner is now aware of some of our perceptions. It is likely there will be reminders of their proper procedures. What we observed was not something we personally would want. You may have different standards. It is understandable the building is difficult to cool in the heat of summer. Nevertheless, it was hot in the dining area. read more

Tiny restaurant but the burgers and French fries are delicious. I ordered Green Chili burger and my husband ordered blue cheese bacon burger special. Both burger patties cooked perfectly and not too dried. read more

Stopped on Dalhart on a nine day motorcycle trio. The lady at the hotel recommended this place. I was not disappointed. I had the guacamole burger with onion rings which i fully enjoyed. The place had the classic diner vibe which apparently the locals enjoy cause the place was packed. read more

I dined here about a month ago. The burger I had was probably in the top 10 best I've ever had. It was very flavorful, and juicy. I also had the cheesy tots with it which were also pretty good. Very friendly wait staff, and reasonable prices. What more could you ask for?! I would definitely eat here again. One gripe I might have is the fact that they haven't spend a few bucks to make a better bathroom situation for its patrons. If you go there to eat, and have to use the restroom you'll understand what I mean, but again, I will be a repeat customer. read more

The Grill is my favorite casual spot to eat at in Dalhart. I love, love, love the staff and the burgers and milkshakes are to die for. I personally order the green Chile bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and a chocolate shake. Yum yum yum! This place is a must visit when I'm Dalhart as well. They do get busy on Friday nights when there is a football game. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Monday morning about 8 AM with a party of 4 and sat right down. This is definitely a local institution as many of the customers were known by name when they walked in the door. Service was very good throughout the entire meal. Had the omelet, pancakes, biscuit and gravy and all were really good. Portions are large and cost was really good for what you got. Whether you are coming in from South Texas or New Mexico make sure and stop in for breakfast or lunch. You won't be disappointed. read more

As a Dalhart native, who was born in the early 70s, The Grill has been a mainstay. It has gone by a couple of different names, and had a few different owners, but it has truly retained the "small-town, friendly diner" atmosphere. I have seen several reviews that mention that the restroom must be accessed through the kitchen, but I'm sure this building was erected in the late 60s or early 70s, which attributes to the nostalgic diner feel. The food is amazing, and the service is wonderful. The staff is friendly and ready to serve up some great food and customer service. They do get busy during peak hours, but it is worth the wait! At one point, The Grill was slated to close it's doors, but the locals voiced their love and desire for it to remain, and thankfully our wish was granted. read more

Oh how I wished we had found a his little hole in the wall burger place sooner! It is well worth the short drive off of 87 to get here. We both had the guacamole burgers and shared the curly fries. The burgers were done but nice and juicy! Toppings had the right portions. The curly fries were some of the best I've ever had! We will stop here again on our future trips to Colorado! read more
