The restaurant is clean, pretty and has a wonderful menu. The food is delicious. I had chicken flautas and hubby had steak enchiladas and taco. Guacamole was delicious. All very good for a homemade lunch. read more

La Cocina de Maria - Very good Mexican food! - Mexican Near Me - Dalhart, Texas

I am on a road trip going from Albuquerque to Western Kansas. I took a lunch break in Dalhart, Texas, and found this lovely restaurant. It's a little hard to see their sign from the street, but your GPS will take you right in. The staff is very friendly. Nice natural light. Very colorful, decorations, and an extensive menu of traditional Mexican foods. I had the luncheon burrito with Carnitas. They added rice and beans to the filling, so it was actually very simple to just pick up the burrito and have a complete meal all in one place. The Carnitas was tender and had a nice flavor. They have a section for sauces and other toppings if you want. The chips and salsa were delicious. Prices are excellent. It was clear to me that this is very popular with the locals. read more

Amazing food and service! My go to restaurant when I'm in Dalhart! The drinks are great too!!

A family of gringos on a long car trip home to FW needs good food, cold beer, and a friendly place to rest for a minute. This place was exactly it! We felt at home among local neighbors and hard-working folks. Especially loved the bar with every authentic topping one could wish for tacos. Yeehaw! read more

Food was good. Atmosphere was nice. A hole in the wall place that we will definitely go to again. Cold beer! The service was great for first timers. read more

Food was good. Atmosphere was a dive. Restaurant up charged without letting us know. Felt very ripped off. Husband and I both ordered full fajitas. I got beef. He got chicken. $16 each. Five tortillas came out. When the lady asked if we wanted more, we agreed to three more. She charged us an extra $5. No warning. Not states on the menu. Not cool. Be warned. Wont return. read more

La Cocina de Maria - Beef fajitas were good but not enough tortillas and charged 5$ for extras. - Mexican Near Me - Dalhart, Texas

Food was amazing! Authentic Mexican! There was a bit of a language barrier, but everyone was friendly. Service was good. Waitress was attentive, smiling, enjoying her job. We were there at 9 pm, restaurant was still busy, people coming and going. We will return when we're are in the area! read more

Rolling the dice. And Winner, Winner, chicken dinner, with this place! Quaint, patron packed, Mexican roadside restaurant that has locals and passerby's in flavor heaven! The clean, colorful interior sets the tone with wonderful smells of Caldo de Reyes, Grilled shrimp, Ceviche, and other well executed Mexican standards. The authentic Jugos (unpasteurized, so roll the dice on these!) and the beer offerings are fitting for the stop--the Horchata was good, albeit a bit sweet, but some fresh limes solved that. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are decent. The only miss was the beans--soupy, watery is not a good accompaniment to such flavorful food. Well worth the stop, the soups, tacos (do-it yourself flavor bar is a huge plus!) and the ambience makes this a gem in Dalhart, TX. Kudos to the owners...the flavor makers at the open grill, and the knowledgeable waitstaff! Stop in...get your fill, and journey on! read more

stopped here on a roadtrip for breakfast. The breakfast burrito is amazing- make sure to add beans. I always judge a restaurant based on their beans and they passed the test with flying colors. Super kind ladies as well. read more

La Cocina de Maria - Mexican Near Me - Dalhart, Texas

I'm driving from Dallas to Denver and I appeared to have taken the long way and can't seem to get out of Texas. So I ended up stopping in Dalhart for the night. Typically, I would just order DoorDash, but after talking to the woman on the phone I thought I'm just gonna go pick up my food and I'm so glad I did. The place is really cute. The chairs are all painted a different design and it's really bright so I picked up my food, but then I found that they make their own drinks and tasted the pineapple one. It was great so I bought one and then I brought the food back to the hotel. It's really good great serving this is gonna be for breakfast as well. I ordered a hamburger patty for my dogs and they seem to have approved and I'm putting pictures on it. I will not have an opportunity to come back here, but if you are, I suggest you go support this business. I love supporting mom and Pop places. read more

Possibly the best Mexican food I've ever eaten! Tamales are very fresh and definitely home made. Pozole is absolutely amazing and a massive portion. Mole is not on the menu but available. Service and price is great. Highly recommend this place. read more

We usually love most Mexican food, but no one in our group was a fan of this restaurant. Food wasn't very good, simple, and overpriced.

Authentic Mexican food. Absolutely delicious! Never have had a bad dish there. Excellent service and love the atmosphere.. feels like we're in Old Mexico on vacation. read more

I have never had worse mexican food. I am from East Texas and my partner is from South Texas. We love authentic and Tex-mex food. This was neither. The salsa was marinara sauce with cilantro and jalapeno added. I have NEVER tasted italian salsa. The refried beans were topped with parmesan cheese. Need I say more. The staff were friendly. The seats of the some of the chairs were total trash and had exposed foam. Gross. Skip this dump in Dalhart. read more

Stopped in Dalhart, TX on our way from AZ to KY. The food was fantastic. The margaritas were lack luster. The Birria quesadilla was amazing. I'd go again. read more

Delicious home made family Mexican food. I had chicken quesadilla on home made corn tortilla with salsa bar sides. Even the iced tea was tasty. It's NOT Tex-Mex! read more

In Dalhart for business and wanted something different from my traditional choices of the past. Based on Yelp recommendations I selected La Cocina de Maria, and was not disappointed. Great food and VERY AUTHENTIC!!!! Broad selection of options. Small place that had you feel at home. Only one waitress at lunch but she covered the tables very well. Never needed to get her attention or ask for anything. Great find. Highly recommend. read more

Cute ambiance, nice little self serve salsa bar. 3 stars due to the very small portions, unclear menu and price gauging. As you can tell by the receipt, they charge extra if you pay with card v.s. cash. Was also charged an extra $2 as a "refill" for a quesadilla that was smaller than the huarache. Server explained it it was due to not having the menu updated. However, the server Nancy was very nice and kind, no complaints about her at all. Complementary chips and salsa were a nice touch, but we're not refilled. Michelada was decent. Food itself, was fresh and tasty. read more

I met personally with Maria because I had a project that required a true professional and a unique approach. Due to the size of the project she left a little gift for me, one of the best chocolates I have ever had. I will definitely be back in her gorgeous store if I ever need a flower project completed with pride and dignity. read more

The food is awesome. Love the burritos and tacos. Fish is also very good, as we got a to-go order of it. They have great service and allow lots of changes and more orders, and brings everything to us directly. The ambiance seems very clean and Mexican, with some festival music to add. read more

Found this place just driving through Dalhart, and it's amazing! Super friendly and the food was excellent!

Muy bueno todo, un poco caliente tenía las temperaturas pero vale la pena por lo rico de la comida
