I am on a road trip going from Albuquerque to Western Kansas. I took a lunch break in Dalhart, Texas, and found this lovely restaurant. It's a little hard to see their sign from the street, but your GPS will take you right in. The staff is very friendly. Nice natural light. Very colorful, decorations, and an extensive menu of traditional Mexican foods. I had the luncheon burrito with Carnitas. They added rice and beans to the filling, so it was actually very simple to just pick up the burrito and have a complete meal all in one place. The Carnitas was tender and had a nice flavor. They have a section for sauces and other toppings if you want. The chips and salsa were delicious. Prices are excellent. It was clear to me that this is very popular with the locals. read more

A family of gringos on a long car trip home to FW needs good food, cold beer, and a friendly place to rest for a minute. This place was exactly it! Rolling the dice. And Winner, Winner, chicken dinner, with this place! Quaint, patron packed, Mexican roadside restaurant that has locals and passerby's in flavor heaven! The clean, colorful interior sets the tone with wonderful smells of Caldo de Reyes, Grilled shrimp, Ceviche, and other well executed Mexican standards. The authentic Jugos (unpasteurized, so roll the dice on these!) and the beer offerings are fitting for the stop--the Horchata was good, albeit a bit sweet, but some fresh limes solved that. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are decent. The only miss was the beans--soupy, watery is not a good accompaniment to such flavorful food. Well worth the stop, the soups, tacos (do-it yourself flavor bar is a huge plus!) and the ambience makes this a gem in Dalhart, TX. I'm driving from Dallas to Denver and I appeared to have taken the long way and can't seem to get out of Texas. So I ended up stopping in Dalhart for the night. Typically, I would just order DoorDash, but after talking to the woman on the phone I thought I'm just gonna go pick up my food and I'm so glad I did. The place is really cute. The chairs are all painted a different design and it's really bright so I picked up my food, but then I found that they make their own drinks and tasted the pineapple one. It was great so I bought one and then I brought the food back to the hotel. It's really good great serving this is gonna be for breakfast as well. I ordered a hamburger patty for my dogs and they seem to have approved and I'm putting pictures on it. I will not have an opportunity to come back here, but if you are, I suggest you go support this business. I love supporting mom and Pop places. read more

Possibly the best Mexican food I've ever eaten! Tamales are very fresh and definitely home made. Pozole is absolutely amazing and a massive portion. Mole is not on the menu but available. Service and price is great. Highly recommend this place. read more

I have never had worse mexican food. I am from East Texas and my partner is from South Texas. We love authentic and Tex-mex food. This was neither. The salsa was marinara sauce with cilantro and jalapeno added. I have NEVER tasted italian salsa. The refried beans were topped with parmesan cheese. Need I say more. The staff were friendly. The seats of the some of the chairs were total trash and had exposed foam. Gross. Skip this dump in Dalhart. read more

Great food and VERY AUTHENTIC!!!! Broad selection of options. Small place that had you feel at home. Only one waitress at lunch but she covered the tables very well. Cute ambiance, nice little self serve salsa bar. 3 stars due to the very small portions, unclear menu and price gauging. As you can tell by the receipt, they charge extra if you pay with card v.s. cash. Was also charged an extra $2 as a "refill" for a quesadilla that was smaller than the huarache. Server explained it it was due to not having the menu updated. However, the server Nancy was very nice and kind, no complaints about her at all.
