The service here was top-notch and the food was excellent! I love the history of the restaurant, almost as much as I loved my chicken salad on a croissant. The tater tots were fresh and crispy. My friend had the stacked enchilada with an egg on top... It really looked amazing! Tasted good too. Portions were very large. There is a bar attached to this restaurant but we did not go into it. The decor is lovely and it's very spacious. A lot of men wearing cowboy hats in attendance! Definitely make sure you check out the bathrooms before you leave... Especially the handles on the door stalls. So cool! read more

I'm sure that I reviewed this place at least once before. Maybe it was under a different name. I do know that I didn't leave a three star review. I do't even know how many times I've stopped and eaten here while passing through Dalhart. I do know this... we are RVers and live over 350 miles away but we almost always spend the night in Dalhart because of the XIT grill. In visiting with the server tonight, who was 5 stars, he mentioned that the restaurant was under new ownership or management. I had asked about the bread that they used to serve - and is one of my reasons for stopping - and he said that management had decided to go with bread "buns"it's a roll. It's okay, but not special like the loaves used to be. That change brings one star and might be enough to discourage me from choosing Dalhart as our "layover" point. I had the cowboy sirloin. It had good flavor and was cooked perfectly, but it was as tough and chewy as a leather boot. These items can be fixed. The margins might not be be as high ot the price might need to go up. Your choice, but you just dropped below a great little BBQ spot - and this meal was not worthy of spending the night for and especially not planning a night in Dalhart. That means the place we stay loses, where we buy fuel loses. Where we normally have breakfast loses. Here's an error in many businesses. They gorget to consider fixed costs when trying to raise margins. I know overall margins are small, but margins on food are usually 69% plus. Think about your customer count and see if the changes you've implemented are a feel good improvement or an actual overall improvement. As you do your calculations, include what it costs to retain business because lower quality doesn't really pay off unless you're running a fast food restaurant. read more

This place is over the top wonderful in every area. I may get a little wordy, but here goes. The dining room was spacious, every table could be filled, and you'd still be able to walk without asking people to move in. The Bar was equally spacious with plenty of drinking options. We got the deep fried devils egg for the appetizer, these were an amazing combination of texture and flavor. We each got a steak for the main course, both were cooked to perfection and tender beyond anything in our recent memory. The sweet potatoes were so perfectly cooked in seasoned. They were easily consumed using only a fork. We followed up with banana pudding and bread pudding. Both were out of this world. It's unusual to get banana pudding that's made in house and not some flavored glue out of a can. It was topped with whipped cream that actually melted, which told me it was real whipped cream. And it wasn't premade before I ordered because all the vanilla wafers both in it and around, it were crispy and delicious. The bread pudding was equally as delicious. It was dense and sweet and had a nice subtle flavor of bourbon. Even the iced tea was made in house, not from some concentrate or taken out of a soda fountain Our server Parla was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, she made our evening a wonderful overall experience read more

In the middle of no where. Friendly and helpful staff. Had the ribeye and filet. Both were done correctly and had great flavor.

Casey was an excellent server and very friendly! We were just passing through and decided to have a late lunch. My husband had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. I had the taco soup which was good just needed some cilantro and more sour cream! The banana pudding was good as well. This is definitely worth the visit oh and my husband said the margarita was en point! read more

XIT (10 in Texas) is a great steakhouse restaurant. Sassy bartenders, great service and a unique smoky flavor and seasoning to steaks. Their signature beer bread is hella unique and REALLY good!! Great seats at the bar, ice-cold beer and food that was delivered with care. One of our steaks came out well-done (???) and the bartender immediately recognized the error and sent it back to the kitchen Manager came by to apologize for the wait - and all was good on the new plate. Great visit! read more

XIT Woodfire Grill - Steakhouses Near Me - Dalhart, Texas

Stopped in on Mother's Day and expected a wait. We were seated pretty quickly but after ordering it was an hour before they brought the two burgers and salad that we ordered. The Caesar chicken salad was saturated in dressing and the burgers were overdone and lacked the barbecue flavor described on the menu. Any sauces and sides were charged extra. We will be going back to Hodies BBQ next time we are driving through. read more

We were passing through and we can confirm, if you're in Dalhart, XIT is worth the stop. Quality cut of steak (all market prices). I had the filet mignon. It was thin, but cooked perfectly as ordered. My husband enjoyed the deep fried chicken fried steak with jalapeño gravy. We live two hours away, but would definitely return. They have a full service bar. It's clean. A lot of dining space. The service was good. read more

We travel with a 1 ton dually truck and 20' trailer so we always have to make sure the restaurant has parking for it. This restaurant did. It has a rustic Texas atmosphere and was a little noisy because it was packed. I had a chicken Caesar salad and a lemon drop martini. Both were excellent. My husband had the chicken fajitas. He said they were good. The service was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Delicious food , clean and roomy restaurant . Staff was very nice too . For years I've stopped in Dalhart for a night and just ran to get fast food . I will always stop and eat here instead. Totally worth it . Remember this is in a dry county if you are a drinker. read more

Food is fresh & cooked well on everything I've tried: -Ribeye Steak -Burgers -Their Sides .. (green beans could be better) -Catfish & Shrimp Basket -Soups, Salads, Sandwiches & more... Nothing is 'soaked' in sauce & crisp when it needs to be! but if you want extra on the side or difference in preparation- no problem. Portions are also Large for their Price so no problem on that either. You can easily share a steak dinner & be good. Their staff is very accommodating & attentive. Love the atmosphere. They even keep the bar area family friendly, open, & clean. Definitely one of my favorite places to go now & that is saying something because I travel constantly. I love trying new places & even more upscale restaurants. This is a 'down-home' kind of place which is so much better! So if my crew for work ever comes close- I make it a point to at least stop in for a drink at their 'whiskey bar'. If you don't know what to get- the staff/bar will be helpful on suggestions with no fear of being honest on their great/ revolving menu! read more

10/10 recommend! Best steak I've had in awhile! Love the fact it has semi parking! Was able to pull up and turn around w/my rig, and comfortably park even when it was packed! XIT Woodfire Grill - Filet well done, baked potato, broccoli and a dinner roll - Steakhouses Near Me - Dalhart, Texas

Great place , best place in town to have dinner. Big menu selection and food is reasonably priced.

We were passing through Dalhart this past Saturday, September 13, and decided to try this place again. The Mrs. ordered brisket sliders and I ordered prime rib. Diane said her meat was dry on the sliders. My mistake ordering prime rib was not remembering that their meat was smoked. That gives prime rib a very different taste in my opinion. It's a very nice place and we are usually treated pretty well. It is very clean and well organized. Riley our server was awesome to visit with and was very cordial. We will come back and we hope the third time is the charm. read more

Great service! Great food! Very tasty and plenty of it. Loved the ambience inside. Will be back again.

Food was not that good. Filet was dry. The chicken fried steak was so greasy the grease just dripped off the steak. Waitress did not check on us but once to see if we were finished. Offered us tea to go but came back and said they were out so would you like your check. Very disappointed in the service. read more

Recent road trip with a stop in Dalhart found a hidden gem. (Thanks Yelp). Wow this place was just what we needed after a long day in the car. XIT is named after a (former) huge ranch in the Panhandle and they carry on the tradition of steaks and grilling. The menu focuses on Texas cuisine, is lengthy with steaks, chicken fried steak, Mexican, and southern items. We had the fried catfish. Delicious, hot and when accompanied with the beans and fried okra, this was a perfect comfort meal. Ryleigh, our server was helpful and friendly and took good care of us. Of note, XIT is oof the main road and unfortunately located in a dry county, so if you'd like to have an alcoholic beverage, you must purchase membership in a private club. I did. I'll be back here again. read more

Overpriced, poor service and hard to find. Open dining room so not very private. Could hear other tables conversations so I know they could hear us as well. Would not go back if in Dalhart again. Would try one of the Mexican restaurants or the BBQ place. read more

We were traveling through Dalhart, Tx, on our way to CA. This restaurant came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! On our way home from CA, we stopped in again, for the delicious food, the comfortable and western decor, and to see our favorite server, Jose Velasquez! And he was here! He was so very attentive. He made sure our drinks were filled, and our food was served hot. Jose has a very charming disposition. He spoke to us to very intelligently, contributed to our conversation, and was a joy to visit with! A very kind young man. We will be back. Not sure when, but if it's a couple years down the road, Jose may not be here, because this young man is heading places! read more

We've eaten here before and had a great experience, so this visit was really disappointing. Our server, Cristina G, was extremely rude and kept a blank, uninterested expression the entire time. She never refilled our drinks and never once came by to check on us. We felt completely ignored. The food is actually really good, which makes this even more frustrating. On our previous visit, our server was amazing, so we know this isn't an issue with the restaurant as a whole--just with this server. Unfortunately, her service really took away from what should have been a good meal. read more

We were in Dalhart for the night and wanting some decent food. My pork chop was okay, very thin and small. It was probably 5 bites. My wife had the shrimp and catfish, which she said was good. The bright spot were our salads? Go figure. The service was okay. When our bill came, it was incorrect and had to be adjusted. Also, our server didn't know any of the steak prices. Seems like something they should know since you have to ask them for the prices. The ambiance was good, kind of seemed like a TRH. Fyi: If you want alcohol, you have to get a membership due to this restaurant residing in a dry county. read more

09/23/22 4:15 pm Saturday. Color me impressed. I had low expectations as the reviews were all over the place. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean. On to the food. Hubs had the chicken fried steak it is definitely homemade! Tender meat, well seasoned. Not bland! He had a salad which was generous and more than your average side salad and some decent fried okra. The gravy is a spicy jalapeño with cumin. Yum! I had the kids fried chicken tenders, this girl saves herself for dessert!! They were so good! Hot and fresh with a slightly spicy breading with side of jalapeño corn. All delicious. I would say maybe not for little ones who don't like a little seasoning. Side of good gravy! Dessert- well they were out of the specialty dessert and out of the peanut butter pie. Which was disappointing. I had the coconut which tasted like it had been in the fri and hubs went without since they didn't have any of his choices. Almost perfect if they hadn't run out of pie!! read more

The food here is excellent and the service is fast and friendly. We stop here every year on our way to New Mexico. I always get the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. They offer a jalapeno cream gravy, which is delicious. They also have regular cream gravy if jalapeños are not your thing. They offer hot beer bread and butter. I look forward to our annual dinner at Xit. read more

The waitress(Ryder) was really nice! On our road trip to. Colorado, we made an overnight stop in Dalhart. Still not cooking because we're only staying a night, XIT was recommended. What a great recommendation! I read reviews on Yelp about the bread...well, we ordered the bread! IT. IS. AMAZING! It's a beer bread. My other half ordered the one meat bbq plate with okra and "pinto" beans. These beans are charro beans y'all! And spicy...so take that peppermint on the way out!! The brisket was tender with great flavor! I watched him eat it and it flaked with a fork! YUM! I ordered the 12oz ribeye, medium rare, with a salad that had some generic raspberry vinaigrette and fried okra. I was hopeful for a house dressing since this is a steakhouse/bbq restaurant. I hope they make one! The steak was tasty. A little more on the medium side, but tender and tasty. Was it worth $30+, not really...but it was close! Jaime was our waiter and was amazing! Very attentive, patient and kind! The atmosphere is casual. So if you've traveled all day...wear those leggings and a t-shirt. You'll be fine! I would absolutely eat here again! read more

Be prepared to open up your wallet and let them take all of your money for a mediocre steak, at best! My husband and I have eaten steaks at four and five star restaurants across the country....and NOT once did we ever pay $53.00 for ONE ribeye steak! This is highway robbery....especially, when you are in COW country! Arianna, our server, did a good job. The place, itself is decorated like the west.....but, to expect anything more for your dollar, will leave you very disappointed!!!!!! read more

Excellent service from Haley! The chopped steak was grilled to perfection with a tasty brown gravy. The fried okra was crispy & fresh. Delicious jalapeno creamed corn. We would stop again! read more

They do not print their prices on the menus... You have to ask for the price of the steaks... We ask for the price of the ribeye steak... We both heard the waitress say 42.99... when the check came, she charged us 52.99... we pointed it out to the waitress, and she went to get her assistant manager... The assistant manager listened but did not correct it and went to get someone else... A red faced white man came out a few minutes later, and demanded, "what's the problem"... I told him you know the problem... he said you can get out of my establishmen.... he was red faced, loud, and yelling at me... My girlfriend, who is African-American, was very upset, and felt like he had directed his anger towards us because of that....We left, and will never go back there again read more

Horrible customer service. Waitress took two empty drinks from the table that needed refilling for ever. Handed them off to another waitress that had no idea who's was who's.
