This place is over the top wonderful in every area. I may get a little wordy, but here goes. They were easily consumed using only a fork. We followed up with banana pudding and bread pudding. Both were out of this world. It's unusual to get banana pudding that's made in house and not some flavored glue out of a can. It was topped with whipped cream that actually melted, which told me it was real whipped cream. And it wasn't premade before I ordered because all the vanilla wafers both in it and around, it were crispy and delicious. The bread pudding was equally as delicious. Great place , best place in town to have dinner. Big menu selection and food is reasonably priced.

Stopped in on Mother's Day and expected a wait. We were seated pretty quickly but after ordering it was an hour before they brought the two burgers and salad that we ordered. The Caesar chicken salad was saturated in dressing and the burgers were overdone and lacked the barbecue flavor described on the menu. Any sauces and sides were charged extra. We will be going back to Hodies BBQ next time we are driving through. read more

Casey was an excellent server and very friendly! We were just passing through and decided to have a late lunch. My husband had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. I had the taco soup which was good just needed some cilantro and more sour cream! The banana pudding was good as well. We were passing through Dalhart this past Saturday, September 13, and decided to try this place again. The Mrs. ordered brisket sliders and I ordered prime rib. Diane said her meat was dry on the sliders. My mistake ordering prime rib was not remembering that their meat was smoked. That gives prime rib a very different taste in my opinion. Recent road trip with a stop in Dalhart found a hidden gem. (Thanks Yelp). Wow this place was just what we needed after a long day in the car. XIT is named after a (former) huge ranch in the Panhandle and they carry on the tradition of steaks and grilling. The menu focuses on Texas cuisine, is lengthy with steaks, chicken fried steak, Mexican, and southern items. We had the fried catfish. Delicious, hot and when accompanied with the beans and fried okra, this was a perfect comfort meal. Ryleigh, our server was helpful and friendly and took good care of us. Of note, XIT is oof the main road and unfortunately located in a dry county, so if you'd like to have an alcoholic beverage, you must purchase membership in a private club. I did. We've eaten here before and had a great experience, so this visit was really disappointing. Our server, Cristina G, was extremely rude and kept a blank, uninterested expression the entire time. She never refilled our drinks and never once came by to check on us. We felt completely ignored. The food is actually really good, which makes this even more frustrating. On our previous visit, our server was amazing, so we know this isn't an issue with the restaurant as a whole--just with this server. They offer a jalapeno cream gravy, which is delicious. They also have regular cream gravy if jalapeños are not your thing. They offer hot beer bread and butter. Hubs had the chicken fried steak it is definitely homemade! Tender meat, well seasoned. Not bland! He had a salad which was generous and more than your average side salad and some decent fried okra. The gravy is a spicy jalapeño with cumin. Yum! I had the kids fried chicken tenders, this girl saves herself for dessert!! They were so good! These beans are charro beans y'all! And spicy...so take that peppermint on the way out!! The brisket was tender with great flavor! I watched him eat it and it flaked with a fork! YUM! I ordered the 12oz ribeye, medium rare, with a salad that had some generic raspberry vinaigrette and fried okra. I was hopeful for a house dressing since this is a steakhouse/bbq restaurant. We both heard the waitress say 42.99... when the check came, she charged us 52.99... we pointed it out to the waitress, and she went to get her assistant manager...
