Hungry while passing through Winnemuccaa we decided to try this place because it sounded good, and had great ratings. The fresh squeezed lemonade was delicious. While waiting for my food and enjoying it, I remember thinking it would be worth a stop here just for the lemonade. Unfortunately the lemonade would be the highlight of my meal. I had a simple BBQ burger and fries, the burger was very average, and I didn't care for thier homemade BBQ sauce. Additionally the fries were overcooked and unappealing. Service was prompt, attentive, and the waitress was friendly. Just a disappointing meal especially after reading the reviews. As I mentioned earlier I would stop here for the lemonade again, but if I was hungry I would most likely look elsewhere when in the area. Stopped in for breakfast/lunch on the way to Elko. Had decent reviews and the menu sounded good. Ambience was nice, airy and open with comfortable seats. Staff welcomed us immediately and were very friendly. They were able to accommodate our party of 8 by moving tables together. Our waiter was extremely attentive and kept our drinks filled and checked in multiple times to see if we needed anything. Between the 8 of us we ordered BLTs, Rubens, a chicken salad, a burger, a meet omelette, and a Bleu cheese burger. The sandwiches and burgers were all delicious, and the fries are the shoestring type. The only disappointment was the omelette--the eater described it as a vending machine omelette. Oh My Goodness!! This place was by far THE best breakfast place my husband and I have been to! We were on our way back home to Portland and stopped in Winnemucca for the night. Breakfast was our last stop the next morning before hitting the road and we are so glad we made it to the Griddle! We were greeted with a smile and a friendly "good morning" by just about every staff member and there were many. We sat at the breakfast counter by choice although there weren't many seats left in the entire place, inside AND out. The atmosphere was so charming with a nod to the retro diners of yesteryear but not over the top.. The staff was completely on their A GAME! I have never seen such a well oiled machine, especially during a breakfast rush. I ordered the Chilaquiles and asked if Chorizo could be added. They were happy to make it happen. I wanted something different and I have only seen this breakfast item somewhere else once before. It was so yummy and plenty of chorizo, egg, feta, guacamole and sauce. It was nice and hot, the tortilla chips were not soggy and had plenty of crunch left. The portions size was just right although I had to leave a little on the plate. You can only eat for flavor so much after the fullness sets in. :) My husband had the Biscuits & Gravy topped off with eggs over easy. It came out piping hot and had great flavor! I cannot praise the staff enough. From the waitstaff, the rock star chefs, the ladies keeping up on all the dishes and even the young man that always made sure our coffee cups were full, they were amazing!! Everyone was so busy but seemed to have the best attitude toward their customers and their coworkers. It was truly a great thing to witness. We were thoroughly impressed and made sure to let the owner know what a great team he has! So... I was on a road trip from KC to SF with my dad, and we stopped here for breakfast before heading back on the highway for another long day. The food was wonderful -- it's at the top of my list of many, many roadside restaurants from several cross-country treks. Even more importantly, the service was superbly friendly and responsive. It's obviously an important community hub, as lots of regulars were coming in to chat with the servers and each other. They were welcoming to all. I want to do another trip on I-80 just to stop here again! The dad ordered pancakes. I got the waffles with pecans and bananas, with caramel sauce on the side. Both were excellent: pancakes light and fluffy; waffles nice and crisp (I had requested extra crisp). We moved to Winnemucca about a year ago. The Griddle quickly became our splurge, good breakfast spot. Then about 4 months in, the service started getting REALLY slack. We just ate here again yesterday morning. The food was GREAT, as usual, and the service was back up to good. There were even frequent coffee refills. I LOVE the crepes! Hubby LOVES the French toast, kids LOVE the flavored hotcakes. There is also outside seating during the summer. I have been to The Griddle for lunch with the girls, too. Their lunch menu is more moderately priced and a very good selection. I would suggest that you try The Griddle. Check-in on Telp and get 10% off your bill. read more

Grizzly unshaven workmen should be followed into restaurants every single time you're trying to find someplace good to eat in an unfamiliar place,  unless that place has a population under 1000, in which case you should never follow them inside, never touch anything inside the place, or God forbid put anything into your mouth.   My super hot wife and I were hungry while recently traveling through Winemucca.   Why would I reference the hottness of my spouse?  Because I was questioning if I should follow my strategy of following workmen into a confined space where the hottness of my woman might cause said dudes to try and steal a few weakly camouflaged leering stares in between shoveling food down their pie holes,  which just might make me wanna go all knuckle city on each and every one of em.  But we were hungry and there isn't many sit down restaurants in a town that caters to chain smoking gambling addicts living within the 200 mile radius of God forsaken countryside.  My hopes were not high when I asked the waitress what was good,  and just prior to her answer noticed a dude checking out her "all about that bass no treble"  backside from across the room.   Priceless.   She said the stuffed french toast was good and the eggs benediction were too.  I noticed the dude was stuffing said stuffed French toast into his face while studying our waitresses booty, which unlike the popular song lyric clearly "needed explainin".  So I figured I might as well follow his lead seeing as he had the top two things on his mind that every man needs: Sex & Food.   We ordered the French toast and eggs benedict and added a short stack of buttermilk pancakes just for kicks and gigglez.  The French toast was surprisingly good with the eggs benedict also not being a traitor to my taste buds.  By the time our meal was done I told my wife we were definitely coming back the next time we drive through Winnemucca.   Anyone know where I can buy a burka? read more

These breakfasts are memorable: three months later and I still fondly remember my breakfast here. I had the strawberry/peach crepes, and savored every mouthful. Great breakfast! It was just across the street from our motel, and the reviews looked promising. It's a seat yourself kind of diner, and we managed to get a booth by the orange juice machine (which of course prompted me to order orange juice). I don't drink coffee, but I'm told it was excellent. I had the two eggs and meat: the sausage patties were outstanding. I also got to try a bite of the corned beef hash, which had big pieces of brisket. There was a 10% discount for Yelp check-ins. This was a great breakfast place. I recommend the biscuits and gravy. The corned beef was made with REAL corn beef and my husband loved it. He said it was seared perfectly with a crispy exterior and soft interior. My boys were super satisfied with their meals. As a mom of two boys on the spectrum it is often hard to get them to eat. My youngest had the french toast and he ate 1/2 of it which is amazing. My 15 y/o ate all of the pancakes. Normally he would only eat 1/2 of 2 pancakes but today he ate two. He loved how fluffy and light they were. He also commented on how they were still steaming a bit. They were short staffed (not their fault) but everyone still was polite and attentive.
