We came specifically to try the chicken fried steak and the corned beef hash, and didn't stop there. We also ordered biscuits and gravy with hash browns with the works, plus a buttermilk pancake. Everything was fast, hot, and fabulous. What really stood out was the service. Even though we walked in about 20 minutes before closing, the staff were genuinely delightful--welcoming, unhurried, and kind. This place is so clean, friendly and the service is incredible. They have room for larger parties, or you can opt for a cozy booth. Kids menu is fantastic and comes with coloring options to keep kiddos occupied. The quiche is a huge portion. Like think softball size and it is thick and tasty. Made a lunch stop and pulled up Yelp, The Griddle sounded like a great try. I walked through the back and made my way to the front with what appeared a crowded diner area. I was greeted by a friendly waitress who let me know I can pick a seat of my choosing. I decided to go the back area which was surrounded by windows, cool lamps and had small tables available. I went with the Golden gate and a side of fruit. The fruit serving was amazing. The melt on the other hand had one side perfectly toasted and the other side almost like it was not flipped over for crispiness. Also, a bunch of the avocado was placed in the bread and appeared black with ripeness. Yikes! My waitress was hustling in the back but always very sweet and attentive which I truly appreciated. Located in the middle of town is a brown one story building with a blue and pink awning, the Griddle. Open for breakfast and lunch 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The restaurant is very rustic with old world charm. Front row seats at the counter with well worn booth seating as well as a few tables. Watching the waiters/ waitresses is like watching a conductor directing the cooks, a well practiced orchestra. Linquicia and eggs, chicken fried steak, hamburger well done oh and a salad. Something for everyone. The food arrives hot, the coffee cup never empties, a satisfying meal whispers, do yourself a favor, come back again. This should be the standard across all of the states. They are generous perfectly portioned and a great price. I was in Pershing on business and heading to Elko. We stopped a the griddle for lunch. They are known for having an amazing breakfast, but we wanted to try lunch. The restaurant is very nostalgic with booths and seats at the counter, along with outdoor seating. We ordered two sandwiches, the French dip loaded with onions peppers and mushrooms and a turkey, avocado lettuce and tomato on grilled sour dough toast. Both were great, but he turkey was better. What a find! I wish we were in Winnemucca more often! Found it on Yelp when we were driving through and LOVED it. The quiche Lorraine is an experience I'd love to repeat, and the daily special Bennie was delicious! I wasn't sure about goat cheese and grilled peach on it, but it was phenomenal. The service was excellent - super friendly and quick. And it's such a cute, cozy place! Definitely recommend it - after 75 years in business you know it's great The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the ladies room needs a definite update. First for the good things- the location is right off the main strip, the servers were attentive and the coffee was tasty and fresh. The prices were reasonable and the shop has a relaxed cute neighborhood feel for locals. Unfortunately I have to dock 2 stars because some of their food was a hit and miss. The eggs were great, and the fresh house made jam was a great touch for the toast. While I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy the biscuit itself was flat and more like thick bread. The waitress took 5 minutes to get to me, but they were packed. I ordered country fried steak and eggs, with crispy hash browns, super over easy eggs and rye toast. Food came out quickly while I was sipping on my 2nd glass of fresh OJ, which was very tasty! Breakfast was delicious and the chicken fried steak was fresh and hand breaded. Stopped by here on our way to Utah. The staff is super friendly and they had quick service. After you you order, your food basically comes out right away. The food is also pretty good and has huge portions. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has a cover and is pretty nice on a nice sunny day. I have lived here for 32 years and by God, I want to love the griddle. I guess my issue is quality and consistency. If I'm gonna be charged $15-20 for breakfast or lunch, I want a good meal. Sometimes that happens and sometimes (about 50% of the time) they fall short. By that I mean, eggs done wrong, bacon overcooked, a sandwich only half filled. I love a meatloaf sandwich, but I deserve better than a greasy sandwich with half a slice of meatloaf inside. These folks have been at it long enough to get it right. Their food is simple and preparing it well is essential. I know it's hard to hire and maintain staff these days, but quality and consistency count. So does polite, friendly service. These are the places I think the Griddle could improve. Again, just a local who wants to love ya! read more

I was traveling so I needed a quick breakfast that wasn't too heavy (alas, no way to take leftovers). I ordered scrambled eggs, toast, and hash browns. The eggs were fluffy, the potatoes crispy, and the toast was done just right. Even though the place was packed, my server took good care of me. Delia was quick, friendly, and efficient. I love the authentic vintage style of this place. The servers were wearing tee shirts announcing 75 years in business and 23 million plus eggs served. My only disappointment was that they close at 2 p.m., so I wasn't able to stop again on my return trip to Reno. read more

On a roadtrip and stopped into Winnemucca early on our way to Tahoe. Found this small unassuming diner as we entered the town and it was awesome! Rustic charm, cute little bar with barstools and full of cowboys and ranchers having their morning coffee and breakfast.
