I enjoy the food at Motel T most times. It always depends on the cook. But i enjoy their chicken fried steaks, burgers and some of their sandwiches, soups and salads. If you're going in for dinner the waitstaff is hit or miss. But if you go for breakfast Nikki is the best and has been there for years. When fully staffed, service is never an issue. Stayed at the hotel and got a free breakfast voucher. Breakfast was decent, not great but not bad. Scrambled eggs were a little runny, bacon was actually quite good and not over cooked. Coffee...meh. Here's the truth, most days, this is best diner/coffee shop food in town; BUT, if you come in and don't get served promptly, get up and leave because, it's because they are short staffed in the kitchen and things won't get better. My husband had the rib steak. And I had the Tex chicken salad, his was perfectly prepared and tasted and looked great. Mine was very good. They make the best garlic bread. I could have ate a loaf. Excellent place to get breakfast in Winnemucca. It's on the main strip close to the gas station when you're either coming or going out of town. There was plenty of parking. Everyone was really nice. The food portions are large so go hungry or consider splitting or do what I did, and take your bacon and a little baggie to go, I will definitely be back. Why five stars? It was so unexpected and delightful, that's why. We arrived around 6 on a weekday and I got the tri tip meal and hubby got the prime rib. The meat was amazing. It was perfectly cooked. And just be warned...there is a LOT of food. Since we were traveling, we couldn't bring it with us and felt awful wasting it. The sides were just ok. Green beans? Um...not into canned. Baked potatoes were a little underdone but they did a great job with loading on the sour cream and chives. Service was fantastic. She was there when we needed her and not when we were talking. So, freshen up the sides a bit and keep doing a perfect job on the beef. read more

Early dinner after a long drive from Boise and we were looking for a large servings and nice place to sit. This diner does have both of those and is a good value. Food is OK at 3 stars, we imagined our pot roast dinner and BLT looked better at other times for the diner. Tried the chili and it was canned, so don't bother if you like diner chili that's at least homemade. Service was slow, kitchen was understaffed. And I wish I would of taken a picture of my chef salad. I was probably the worst chef salad I've ever had. It had rare prime on the top that looked like it was cut with a butter knife. I took every piece off and fed it to the cats from the RV park next door. Have started going back to eat there since the reopening and the menu is really good. The only problem is that what you order a lot of times isn't what you get. Ordered a Turkey melt and was suppose to have turkey, bacon, tomato but got turkey, cheese and grilled onions. Another time we went we had a breakfast skillet. It was great. The next time the potatoes were raw and no cheese. The cooks need a menu back there so they can serve food on a more consistent basis. Plus you always cook the potatoes. Hate getting half cook country potatoes and mushy hash browns. The wait staff is good. They are attentive an nice. Serving hot food that is prepared right (according to the menu) should be the goal of every restaurant. read more

While traveling across 80 stopped for lunch in Winnemuca. This was not our first, or to be fair second choice. There were 5 of us and of the meals the best was the burger and shake. One of us lifted our sandwich off the plate and found a hair underneath half of the sandwich. All sandwiches and burgers were ordered with either cheddar or swiss, but all this restaurant has is various colors of American cheese. Between the steak fries, tater tots and hash browns the tater tots were the best. I was shocked that when we found a hair we were still charged for the that meal. We ate here because it is attached to the hotel. We ordered the special Prime Rib dinner. I had mashed potatoes and gravy with mine and when I tasted the gravy it seemed sketchy so I sort of scraped it away. The prime rib was good, the salad was so so, nothing to brag about, had two nice rolls though. We waited some time and the server said they were waiting for the prime rib to be done??? Not long after this I had terrible diarrhea all night. I think from the gravy. The reason I am giving two stars is because the motel gave us a coupon for free breakfast in here and the breakfast was very good. But, I would never ever eat here again. There are several better places in town. I'd suggest Chihuahuas Mexican. I ate here because I stayed in the RV park and didn't have a car to drive to Chihuahuas (should have gone Uber!!!). I ordered a medium rare Ribeye and they couldn't pull it off! Sent back and it still came back raw!! Peas were chewy and the baked potato cold. Move on. Well i know where im not going next time in Winnemucca. I stopped there with my family this morning on a road trip from california, and was sooooo disappointed. I orders the Orange ginger chicken salad type of thing and when it came out to me the waitress plopped it in front of me and the chicken was still raw! I asked her to take it back and ordered a philly cheese steak instead since i didnt wanna risk getting raw chicken again. Well by the time it came out 20 minutes later my family had finished eating so I asked for a togo box. When the waitress brought our check she took 10% off my food, so i asked her to get the manager because i wasnt gonna pay for my food. I couldnt eat my salad cuz i didnt wanna get salmonella and my other order took longer to make than the rest of my families food. Soooooo out comes the manager and says if you dont want to pay for your meal, ill just take your food (that was in a to go box) back to the kitchen. Soooooo... The service was EXTREMELY poor. There were 3 waitresses, 1 buser and 3 cooks with only 7 tables; including us. It took 15 minutes for them to bring us menus and take our drink order. Another 30 for our meal; and that wasn't complete, so another 10 minutes for the rest of the meal. The waitress never came back to our table, made eye contact, etc for the entire time we were there until I asked the bused for a to go box. After waiting for 30 minutes for the waitress she then came and asked if we wanted dessert. Our dining experience took us 2 hours from start to finish!! Way too long! read more
