Moses was a amazing server, he took great care of us the moment we walked in. This hidden gem inside the Winnemucca Inn has breakfast served 6am-11am with dinner starting at 4pm. They also have a lunch menu too, but I was focused on trying their chicken fried steak breakfast bc everywhere else has the deep fried hockey puck version. Garden Cafe's version was freshly breaded (I think, the flaky coating reminded me of panko - katsu vibes). I asked for the gravy on the side, so I could the breaded cube steak crunchy. The past several visits, we have had to wait at the desk for several minutes before anyone would even acknowledge us. The staff would see us, even the manager would see us, and they would keep talking and totally ignore waiting customers. Servers would walk past, like they didn't even see us. No acknowledgment whatsoever. When we would finally get seated, we would have to wait for someone to finally take our order, during one visit the server brought us our water as we were getting ready to pay the check. I understand they're short staffed, but they're losing a lot of business. We've stopped going, as well as other folks in town who have experienced the same lack of service. The Winnemucca Inn restaurant used to be a very successful, friendly, enjoyable restaurant. Since the new ownership, it's taken a turn for the worst. Sad, they can do better... read more

We stopped in here at the Garden Cafe in Winnemucca on our way Westbound on the 80 headed from Elko. It's a good stopping point as there's not many other towns out here on the 80 with better food choices. Battle Mountain has great gas prices, but not as much for food. We're seated just fine and just water to drink at this point in the day with a lot of driving ahead. I got the chicken fried steak and my friend got an omelet served with hashbrowns. Two coffees as well, were kept refilled just fine. All the food was good, normal coffee shop quality. Service was friendly as well, I'd stop here again passing thru on the 80. read more

Nice diner in the winnimucca inn casino. No online ordering you can probably call ahead or play some slots while you wait if you want to get it to go. The chicken fried steak was great and loved the mashed potatoes. Vegetables were steamed and very soft and delicious. Hearty meal breading on steak was fantastic with the gravy. read more

Meh. I had a hot turkey sandwich (with chicken gravy - they said that's all they have), mashed potatoes and vegetables. My wife had the taco salad, which was huge. Both meals were extremely bland in my opinion and needed lots of salt and pepper. I don't believe the hamburger in the taco salad had any taco seasoning at all, just crumbled plain hamburger. It came with some salsa which helped a bit, but still not much flavor. Dessert was a chocolate shake, which was just so so. Runny, with not enough ice cream and too much milk. Our server was great, and they do seem to be well staffed now. Total tab before gratuity was $40. read more

It's Monday night and little to choose from as many establishments closed. Thanks to Yelp reviews we tried Garden Cafe inside the Winnemucca Casino. No sign that says it just a big "Restaurant" sign. We were escorted to a table and advised that they were short staff with only two servers. Ouch expectations dashed. We were provided water and menus. We decided quickly what we wanted via a fairly extensive menu: salads, burgers, steaks, fish, etc. No hard liquor is served tho. Well Dena arrived quickly to take our orders. Things getting better? Dena is a dynamo and we received great prompt service including her checking on how everything was. My wife & I both ordered burgers of differing variety. Served back to us promptly & they were delicious: cooked right, flavorful & hot. The potato salad was great too. So good food & awesome service what more can you ask for? This is a must do dining experience in Winnemucca! The name is not on the building nor is the address. But it is inside the Casino. The dining area is spacious and decorated beautifully. Our server, Dena quickly took our order and within a few minutes we were served. She was sooo attentive during our entire meal that we would rate her 10 stars if possible!! The Chicken Fried Steak is prepared here and not pre purchased. The gravy was plentiful and tastes homemade. The portions are enough for two, so we are taking half home for another memorable dinner tomorrow night. Thanks Dena for making our dining experience outstanding!! read more

Pretty average food and pricy the food is pretty bland me living in Winnemucca for now around 5 years and this restaurant gets a whole remodel and becomes more expensive and the food just gets worse. I recommend the Martin if you want good quality food! read more

Would have liked to see some protein on the salad bar but, short of that, my meal was good. Opted for the turkey burger - well seasoned and cooked to still be juicy (not dry). Dena is the sweetest person. Amazing customer service. She took such good care of us, we stopped in again on our way home. Salad bar is smaller, but very fresh. Marinated mozzarella, Greek olives, super fresh greens... very impressed. I consider this place a gem. Will go back next time I'm traveling through. read more

Listen the food is basic, yes! But they are open till 10pm and more importantly the staff is very friendly and attentive. Plus, at a normal restaurant when you sub a small salad for fries, rarely do they allow you to get ceasar instead of the usual ranch or vinnegrette. read more

We stopped here for a Thanksgiving meal! As other the road truck drivers weren't sure if we were going to get the traditional Turkey day meal, but I found on facebook. TURKEY or HAM or combo with soup and salad bar, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables (peas &carrots), candied yams and a slice of pie for dessert. It made me and my co-driver very happy. wow... traveling, we have stopped & eaten here for many years! Food has been exceptional... today was terrible.. It took 45 minutes to get cold food.. I have never seen hash browns that were just white.... nor had a piece of toast that was so small... 4 bites... so whole meal was cold, turnover time too long & it was not cheap!!! So sad.. especially when I heard the next table say " our food is cold" & the waitress said " that's not my fault".... We will be finding a new place to eat read more

I'm really not sure why this place has such good reviews. Yes, the service was good. Polite staff and food came out fast. However, the food it way overpriced for the quality. The restaurant itself is in a casino, so the smell of cigarettes surrounds you as you eat. The restaurant itself was not that clean. We had to move our table over because of where they put us and the floor was disgusting. The chairs... oh wow, those alone would be the cause of me never coming back. They were black. I felt gross sitting in them.. I guess if you like to gamble it would be an okay place.. I'm pretty sure you get free food vouchers if play. But other than that I would not recommend. read more

The restaurant is not labelled, "Garden Cafe" so it was almost impossible to find. Turns out it's inside the casino, which is why it's open 24 hours. The Ceaser's salad I ordered had wilted lettuce, more salad dressing than I like, and chicken pieces that were dry, hard, and tasteless. Smoke from the casino drifted in causing me to cough, as I'm sensitive to it. I'll try someplace else next time I'm in Winnemucca. read more

Yes! We stopped in here on the way back home from Yellowstone on route to California. The salad/soup bar was FRESH and yummy. There was a good array of fresh toppings and dressings. The bread was warm and the tortilla soup was excellent as well. You can tell the chef put love into the salad bar and the rest of the food. I would recommend to get a light meal and indulge in the all you can eat soup and salad. It's a great place to stop and get a bite and maybe do a little gambling since it's located in the casino. The only con- cigarette smell inside the casino, but the restaurant does not allow smoking and they do a good job of filtering out the smoke. Traveling cross-country in early September 2019 we stopped in Winnemucca, Nevada, for the night and our hotel clerk at the Holiday Motel across the street recommended this restaurant. People are right ... the salad bar is fresh and has variety. I was full after two plates, one of them being full of fruit for dessert. Clam chowder was the soup and it was some of the best I have had. The bread with the chowder was good, chewy and flavorful just how I like it. The hubs had the Monty Christo sandwich and said it was good. They had regular fries and beer batter fries, he had to try the beer batter fries and I snuck one. They were good but not as remarkable as you would think the name implies. He had the carrot cake for dessert and said it was good. read more
