Lamb French Dip Sandwich
Laura Giudici M.

Traveling through. Stopped by for lunch. House salad made with iceberg and romaine lettuce was warm, overdressed, and, honestly, a bit soggy. The Lamb French Dip sandwich with hand cut French fries on the other hand was absolutely delicious! Succulent, juicy shredded lamb shank on a toasted French roll with lamb Au jus. Perfection. Service was excellent, too!

First course. Hearty soup.

Absolutely loved this place. The bread, soup, salad on the beans (yes it is a thing...do it!), yummies hominy with spicy sausage, green beans with bacon, exceptional mashed potatoes AND fries then my salmon was perfect and followed up with some nutmeg clovey cinnamon bread pudding dessert from heaven. Did I mention it comes with wine and we got out of there for under 80$?! We Sat in the loud dining room family style and talked and visited while our servers kept plying us with Basque goodness. We are so thankful it is on the way to family in Boise.

What a cute place! A real piece of history here in Winnemucca. In business for over a century the building is a historical landmark with hitching Posts still in place out in front. The Entrance includes a cozy bar and some seating areas. The dining room is community style tables where you can expect to meet fellow travelers. The restaurant specializes in traditional Basque dishes served family style. The only thing I can say is you must absolutely come here when you are ready to eat like you've gone home to mom's. Meals include red table wine, house made soups, fresh salad, Basque style beans, fresh bread, and butter, an entrée of your choice with sides, plus dessert. The portions were exceptionally generous, and we were offered to go boxes which will provide food for probably another two days! The Ladies who served us were super and ensured that we never wanted for anything. An amazing meal at unbelievably low prices. A real nice break from fast food or standard bar fare.

Great food, the best servers, plenty to eat and very popular. I ate a bowl beef vegetable soup, green salad, red beans, potato salad, chorizo & hominy, corn off the cob, 3 lamb chops buried under an entire head of chopped garlic, french fries, a carafe of unknown red wine, bottomless bread & butter and bread pudding. Each guest chooses their entree. The rest is always served. Whew! Drinks from the bar are cheap. Tables are family style eating where strangers may be seated with you. Great environment. Leave your cell phones in the car, this is old school human interaction

chicken fried steak, t bone steak, fries, sides of corn, mashed potatoes and hominy and chick pea succotash

My fiancé really wanted to go here, wasn't my favorite type of food but ended up really enjoying it. Come hungry they serve multiple, delicious courses that are pre set and then you choose whatever entree you would like to have. It is lumberjack style seating so you more than likely will be sharing one big table with folks not in your party.

Steak Sandwich with Fries

Today I stopped in for lunch and I got a steak sandwich, which included your choice of fries, onion rings or mashed potatoes and your choice of soup or salad. I opted for salad and also got a cup of cream of mushroom soup. The salad is a Martin Hotel originial and a must try. Its vingary and garlicy and perfect. The steak sandwich was delicious. The steak specifically was cooked perfect and full of flavor. The mushroom soup was good. The fries were crispy. Also at the table we had a plate of ravioli with house made alfredo. This was an amazing dish and not something I have tried here before. I would love to come back and order more. Our waiters name was Mark, I believe, and he was so kind and patient. His suggestions were helpful and much appreciated. I have eaten at the martin many times and it is always good. I think my favorite time to go is at lunch. The Martin is in an old historic building with old school charm. There is beautiful artwork on the walls and I found out it's for sale!!! The Martin should be on your bucket place of places to stop when you visit Winnemucca.

Every bite was delicious, but it was way too much food for two people. Invite another couple if you come.

It's interesting to get some food you won't commonly find. I went for lunch and have a feeling the dinner experience is better.

We just got done getting gas next door at the Chevron and now we needed to check in. All reservations were just fine and I got my rewards points added as well as a room upgrade since I'm a Platinum rewards member. Everyone on the crew has their own room, I don't make anyone have to share rooms. My room was clean and nice. First thing I do is hook my laptop up to the WiFi so I can stay connected to my work. Signal is just fine as is the hot water in the bathroom. All clean and no stray hairs not my color laying about or any creep crawly things running about either. One thing I don't like about all the IHG Holiday Inn locations is that switch to a brew by the cup coffee makers in the lobby. Sure coffee available 24/7 but just a cup or so at a time. I liked the old way where there was a big carafe I could fill my coffee carafe and bring it to the room. I need my coffee while I work. Oh well, at least I think those fab cinnamon rolls are still gonna be out at breakfast!

What a delightful find in the heart of Winnemucca As soon…read moreas we walked in, we see a restaurant filled with locals dining and enjoying the beautiful bar. We knew the food had to be good. I didn't realize I would be enjoying one of the best seafood meals ever. We started with the perfectly warmed French bread and butter. Crab croquettes perfectly blended and seasoned and fried to a golden crisp. The complimentary cabbage soup reminded me of a soup my Mom prepared growing up. Home cooked flavor! But our meals.... Wow! I had the most perfectly cooked halibut. It was light and tasty Hubby ordered the prime rib special which was thick and juicy and served with all the accompaniments. The flan was one of the best I've tasted. And I had to order the lemon blueberry marscarpone cake for the 6 hour drive home. I cannot remember the last time a meal evoked memories of childhood and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of this basque restaurant. Well done! Superb!

That being said we are only used to tongue being pickled, and not used is dishes like ravioli. The cabbage soup in this place was delicious and pretty much the same as were the beans. They also offer lamb which is generally a Basque staple, and it was smothered in garlic. The salad and French bread were both very good, as was the service. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience. I would have given them 5 stars if only they had some pickled tongue on the menu.
