Ambiance was AMAZING, we sat outside and it was absolutely beautiful! Service was exactly what you would expect from a place like this. Slow and not very attentive. The food is sadly where this place really lacked. I got the burger, which was a mash burger and I wasn't aware of that (could have totally been my mistake but don't recall it being listed). My boyfriend got the OG taco. The guy informed us it only came with one taco. $5 for one taco. He got two tacos, and keep in mind it does NOT come with any sides. My boyfriend was left dissatisfied with his messily two tacos. He said they were also soggy as they did not heat the taco tortilla AT ALL. As for both dishes there was a serious lack of flavors... Unfortunately don't think we will be coming back for food...we'll have to try their drinks next time.
Snagged a seat at the indoor bar around noon on Saturday just before the rush. This spot gets busy quick, and the patio is always the first to go on a nice day, but the vibe inside is just as solid. The house salad is low-key incredible--that Italian seasoning really makes the whole thing pop. Paired it with a brisket taco which was a cool, tasty move. The bartenders are top-tier and keep the energy right. Definitely a staple for the rotation.
Lake Ivanhoe/Orlando~ What a great spot to hang out, people watch, and eat delicious food. This restaurant sits across the street from Lake Ivanhoe and affords beautiful views of the lake. There's seating inside and outside, but on a beautiful day outside is definitely where you want to be! Basically bar food, but elevated. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio along with the brisket and bacon, sammie. I switched out the regular mayo and got horseradish mayonnaise. I could've used a lot more of that on my sandwich, and the brisket could've been grilled a little bit less. It was a little bit chewy, but honestly really delicious! Service was on point. Everyone was very friendly. This would be the perfect hangout spot on a Sunday afternoon.
I thought this was a healthy spot for some reason, and never stopped by. But I don't think the beer or food qualify! Although the parking lot is small, there is a lot of space inside. There's also an outdoor bar area with plenty of space and a walk up bar. I tried the cheesy brisket taco, it was a nice sized taco. The brisket had a beer flavor to it. But it was pretty good. The side salad was kind of meh. And the pickle dip was interesting. I like how it came with pickle shaped fries. The dip had chopped pickles in the dip and was ok. I would go back for a happy hour and snacks feel.
My sister-in-law and I were a little hungry as we were downtown and we found this place on yelp so we went. The servers were very nice. The food was very good. The atmosphere was amazing. It was a beautiful night in Orlando. I'm happy that we stopped there and we'll come again another time.
Absolutely the best Cuban sammich I've even eaten!! Those flavors were killer! Very good service and really clean place. Hubby got the beefsteak and cheese and it was good too but that Cuban is where's it's at! Will def check out some other menu items next trip, maybe.
Okay im pissed because.... WHY DIDNT YALL TELL ME ABOUT THIS PLACE SOONER!?!? A friend and I had an hour to kill before Pilates and stumbled on this place... YALL. Best drinks ever. Staff is so awesome, it feels like i walked into a friends home. The food was great and it's a perfect place to chill and catch up with a friend! Id suggest the outdoor seating!
The food was fantastic. We loved it. Everything was unique and had great flavors. The service not so much. Once our server found out we weren't drinking alcohol the service became nonexistent. A couple sat next to us and the man had to get up and grab the waitress because she was clueless. The ambience was relaxed , fun and super chill. Great food, subpar service. Enjoy
Omg, no doubt some of the absolute best sandwiches we have had in a while. My Dad is in ICU at ORMC so this wasn't too far to travel. On this view, four sandwiches weren't available due to the grill being down but we so didn't miss it. They were having a kitty adoption day and if I still lived in FL I would have taken one home lol. Our server was a male, tall and skinny, knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and professional. We ate outside, party of seven. He kept our beverages full and was just great. Wish I remembered his name. One area that could use improvement is the floors inside. So sticky. Otherwise an incredible experience. Go with confidence.
It's been a few years since we first tried the Gnarly Barley and they've really improved the space. The patio is expanded with its own bar and adorable dog friendly patio. On a breezy Friday afternoon it was a great space to grab lunch. We shared the pretzel app with pimento cheese and the Brisket Bacon Sandwich. The pretzels were perfect but the pimento cheese was just okay. The Brisket Bacon Sandwich is like a Philly cheese but better. So tasty and filling. The service was quick and friendly and they happily split the sandwich for us. We'll be back soon for sure.

It's known for its hot sammies and solid beer selection and it definitely delivered. While there's no dedicated kids' menu, it's easy to mix and match for a kid-approved meal. We ordered chicken nuggets and mac & cheese for our little ones. I had the Chicken Philly, which came with fresh white meat and melty provolone. My husband went for the Biggie's Bomb-Mi, which featured a massive piece of crispy chicken and a sweet orange Asian-style sauce. Everything tasted freshly made no frozen shortcuts here. Prices were typical, and the service was excellent. The staff worked as a team and were genuinely attentive. Great food, great vibe, and a space that works for both grown-ups and kids. We'll definitely be back.
First time at this location, and love the fun, modern vibe of this use to be dive bar... since the S Orange days. It was still pretty cool then. We stopped here for lunch, and the sandwiches are both very tasty. We ordered the spicy Cuban and a chicken club, and added on fries. The club was probably my fav of the two, juicy and well seasoned. The staff were friendly, and two servers were working together I believe. They seem to have a good happy hour from 3-7pm, but drinks only. We're be back for sure to check that out , and try some other tasty eats. Cheers friends

Our absolute favorite local spot. Great atmosphere outside on the patio and outdoor bar, and even when it's hot out there's always a nice breeze coming off the lake. Food is outstanding every time. We love the Chicken Nuggies and their smash burgers. I've also had the tacos and enjoy those every time and for ~$5 it's the perfect little snack. Drinks are good and happy hour is a pretty good deal too. Always feel welcomed and taken care of by the staff. We genuinely come at least once a week and love it every time! read more
This place is pretty busy with outdoor seating, but you choose your own table. The waitress was really nice and attentive as well. It's kinda loud in there but that's because they play sport games. The chik Philly with the cherry and banana peppers was such a great addition. Both of our sammis were juicy and delicious. My girlfriend loved their sandwich and said all the ingredients paired so well. The cheese melted so well into all the toppings. The only downside is that I wanted the bulgogi sandwich but they were out. read more
I love having Gnarly Barley in the neighborhood. One of the best upgrades they've made recently is the patio area...it feels comfortable, relaxed, and almost like hanging out in your own backyard. Being able to overlook the park and catch a sunset while enjoying a drink with friends is a huge bonus. I'm not in love with every item on the menu, but I keep coming back for the sandwiches and nachos, which are always solid choices. The service is consistently quick, and the staff does a great job accommodating guests, especially when it comes to putting games on the TVs. Overall, it's a great local spot to meet up with friends, grab some food, watch a game, and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. Definitely happy to have it in the area. read more

I wanted to like this place so badly, but unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. The vibe of the space is great, and I love the decorations and Christmas lights. I am not usually someone who complains about service, but the service was practically non-existent here. We ran out of water pretty quickly after we ordered, and we were not able to get a refill until after our food was delivered. After that, we did not see our server again until it was time to pay. We started off with the corn dip, which was pretty good. I liked the chips a lot. My husband ordered the grilled cheese, which was very greasy and flavorless. The black bean tacos were extremely soggy on the bottom as soon as they were delivered to our table, and fell apart as I tried to eat them. The flavor of them was okay, but nothing super special. I hope that I just visited on an off-day, since I really want to like this place. The outside seating has a great view of the lake, and they have so many vegetarian options on the menu. read more
We came here after work with a few friends and really enjoyed our time here. They have plenty of seating both inside and out, and have a small parking lot nearby as well! They are also pet friendly, providing water bowls for our furry friends! We did have someone with a dog, so we decided to sit outside! The workers were all really nice and attentive. Drinks and food came out in a timely manner and all tasted great. They have a large variety of local beers as well! We took advantage of their happy hour, which was from 3-7. Came in with a bunch of coworkers for happy hour. Started with the frozen pina colada. It was delicious. I eventually ordered food and went with the bar fries. I really liked them. I had a few more drinks but do not remember what I ordered. I really enjoyed the music they played that day. Was 90's and early 2000's R and B and other types of music. This is a great place to hang out. Parking is limited with a few spots out front but there's street parking. I want to come back! read more
I have been passing this place for years and finally stopped in for a bite to eat. I got a chicken and a brisket taco and I really enjoyed them. They were well seasoned and tasty. The brisket wasn't as tender as I would have liked but the flavor made up for this. I love the neighborhood bar feel of the establishment and the servers were very personable. Great food !!! If you can get it. Super slow service. Took forever to get our appetizer. It ended up coming out same Time as our meal. Service was non existent the waitress showed up at the begging and the At the end. I am giving it 4 stars because the food is great. I am a huge fan of their Cuban fuego I highly recommend. . read more

This was my first time to Gnarly Barley. The food and service is fantastic. The local setting and ambience also helped to make my experience enjoyable. Shout out to Julie for being a fantastic server, and to the owners for doing such a great job! read more

The atmosphere is very nice and great outdoor social area! The food was pretty tasty and I wanted to try multiple things! Definitely a great spot to grab lunch! The service was actually very well for being a bar and a pretty busy Saturday afternoon! I was very impressed overall and will return! read more
I have finally made it here. Great location in Ivanhoe Village. There are plenty of seating options inside and outside, with tables and bar seating available in both areas. At the moment there are seasonal drinks for the holidays to try. Several tacos to try along with burgers, chicken strips, and fries. Today I tried the brisket, chicken tinga and black bean tacos. Forgive my picture as I had already gotten started and ate one. lol. Coming in the door I was immediately greeted and was told I can sit anywhere inside or outside and that staff would find me. True to their word I was soon found and given drink recommendations. Upon hearing it was my first visit I was given recommendations for lunch. Both bar areas have at least three TV screens to catch a game. So for sports lovers this is a great hangout spot to catch up with friends and/or watch the game. Outdoor seating comes complete with a view of Lake Ivanhoe. read more

The service was wonderful here. Multiple staff members checked on us throughout our meal. I got a burger with a large fry to share. The burger was great, and my only critique would be if the bacon was crispier. It was some good food though! There is outside seating with a bar as well. read more
Came to the Gnarly Barley one day. I had been hearing good things about this place for a long long time, and the proximity was very convenient for us, since we were right by all the Fringe Festival stuff. So we strolled in one day and had a seat. It was nice to get out of the sweltering heat for a while. Ambiance is definitely gnarly. Very skateboardy vibe, a nice little bar with some TV's, our sandwich came out on a little paper in a basket. It was just very chill and casual and comforting. Loved it. Service was about the same as the ambiance. Very nice, cool folks that came and checked on us regularly. They felt our water glasses full. No complaints. As for the food, we started off with Snack Attack Fries (waffle fries topped with house pulled pork, melty blue cheese, fresh pico de gallo, & tiger sauce). These were a lot of fun. It was a well-layered dish with just enough cheese to be cheesy, but not to make soggy, and plenty of fresh pico! Very nice. We also had a sandwich. I can't remember which sandwich we got, but I remember it was nice. Soft, hearty bread, a simple amount of tasty ingredients, and a giant pickle spear to set it all off the right way. Great sandwich. Overall, I got exactly what I expected out of this place, and it delivered at a five star level. I'm glad I know of this place now, for whenever I'm prowling around Ivanhoe next time. read more

Stopped in to try a few of the new items from the recent menu change and check out the new patio. I lost a few of my favorite items (veggie monster, snack attack fries, waffle fries) in the menu shift, so I was looking forward to trying some new stuff. The patio is beautiful --New TVs, a big full bar, and bartenders outside ready to serve you. We did lose some patio seating space, but gained some bar space. It's not as relaxing as it used to be, but it's a great place to catch a game. Now for the menu. First off the French fries. I think the new fries are fine, but not as good as the old waffle fries. I'd like to return to try the bar fries, but they just don't sound as appealing as the old snack attack. Next up, gnarly nachos. These were good! I was expecting a larger portion size, but the toppings were generous which made up for the smaller size. Overall they were a good snack. Finally the Chicken Nuggies. These were actually a happy change! I am not a huge sandwich lover so it's nice to have a more substantial menu item that isn't a sandwich. These were delicious and I'd absolutely order them again. Overall, a little sad about this update. If the old items are not brought back to the menu, I'd love to see some specials with old menu items. read more

Pros: Great location, right in Ivanhoe Village. Easily walkable from most popular parking spots. Ambiance is really cool, very chill, almost skateboarder vibe. Service was good. Refills kept coming out, which was needed on this blistering hot day. They even cut our sandwich in half for us when they learned we were sharing it! Cons: No real cons! Tips: Any sandwich is probably delicious, but the Snack Attack Fries were above above average! I loved them. read more
