Fantastic meal. What a great place. Never disappoints. Check out my Surf and Turf. And Angie makes a great Old Fashioned. Didn't take a picture of that but should have.

We travel from Hawaii to Skaneateles every year for 6 weeks during the summer. While here, we visit all of our favorite spots, Glen Haven was admittedly one of those spots. We are easy to please, sometimes the wait is long, sometimes they take a while to seat us, sometimes they take a long time to take our order, sometimes the food takes forever to arrive. As long as we are shown some level of decency and respect, we happily pay our bill and tip our waiter. Today (July 23, 2024), the service from our waitress was distasteful and insulting. It started out great, getting seated promptly, getting our orders taken quickly, but it quickly went downhill from there. We ordered 2 diet cokes, 1 regular coke, a Shirley Temple and another diet coke that comes included with the kids burger meal. We ordered 3 Glenn Haven Burges, 2 Turkey Club sandwiches, a Kids Burger Meal 6 chicken wings (that didn't arrive with the included sauce, my 11 y/o son didn't know it came with a sauce so he didn't choose one and he wasn't offered one.) We waited patiently for our drinks to arrive, I would say 15-20 minutes went by without drinks. Then suddenly our appetizer arrived and she apologized that we still hadn't gotten our drinks. This would not have been a problem, we were fine that the drinks had not come in a timely manner. Our drinks come, we finish our loaded fries, we finish most of our drinks and we quickly order another round of soda/fountain drinks. Our food comes out. I ordered my burger medium rare, it was well done. I am not a stickler when my burger doesn't come out the way I wanted it, in fact despite our entire debacle today, it wasn't even mentioned. I ate it and it was still a good burger. I could see that the waitress was busy and we still had no utensils or condiments like ketchup for our fries. I get up, walk to the front of the establishment and grab 6 forks, knives and napkins, head to another open table and grab a bottle of ketchup, we have 6 plates full of fries and no ketchup. A few of us are out of drinks because the food took a while to cook at this point, so before we start eating again, we ask for refills. My son said his chicken tasted terrible and he didn't want to eat any of it, so we said why didn't he get any sauce, it comes with a sauce, so he ordered a Buffalo Sauce. This is where it seems we for one reason or another aggravated our waitress . The common etiquette you would expect from dining in a restaurant from the wait staff seemed to have stopped. We finished our food with an unpleasant feeling that we were not welcome there anymore and when we got our final bill, we were surprised to see we were billed for 9 Sodas! We ordered only 3 diet cokes, 1 coke and a Shirley Temple. AND we were charged $2.75 for the dipping sauce that should have been included with the chicken wings. The extra drinks surely had to be for the refills right? But we visited this place a week prior on 7/20/24 and refills were free then, in fact I think me and my two sons each had 3 refills and at the end, they brought us a whole pitcher of soda. Our final bill last week was 2 diet cokes, because one of those was part of a kids meal. Surely they didn't switch policy within the last week. I was sure this was the refills and I wanted to get an unbiased opinion about the refill policy so I asked the person making the drinks, the bartender. The bartender said it depends on what kind of drink we were getting, and I said it was a diet coke. Before the bartender could answer, our waitress chimed in and said refills are NOT free. The bartender seemed to be confused by this and said don't worry about it, we will take it off of the bill. Gave me a pen and told me to mark what was refills. I mentioned the sauce that came with the chicken wings was wrongly charged as well, she said take it off. I marked the duplicate refill items off as well as the sauce. Gave it back and forgot to remove the kids meal soda that was included. At this point it was about the principle of paying for what was fair. I went back in to correct the invoice for a second time and while I was in there, and the bartender opened the back door and I could hear yelling from our waitress to someone else on staff. It was a hostile environment to be in. The bartender said the waitress would be back out with our check so we could correct it again. I waited and was never delivered my check, it was brought back out to the table while I was waiting at the bar for it. My wife told her that I was waiting for it at the bar and she said, well its here now and dropped it on the table. I don't want to judge and entire establishment based on the actions of one employee, but it felt like she was simply padding the check to collect on a bigger tip. We normally tip 20% no matter the service, but this was intentionally terrible. No tip today! 5 stars to 1 start. What a terrible experience.

Such a beautiful setting overlooking the south end of Skaneateles Lake. Easily accessible by boat. Live music, a sunset, friendly waitress- what more could you ask for?! Fries are heaven. Go.

The place was totally empty, which is to expected at that time. Bar Argos is definitely a vibe. Think: antique chic with a touch of eccentric elegance. Ornate chairs, old-school lamps, and fancy mismatched furniture are scattered throughout, making you feel like you've wandered into a vintage movie set where cocktails play a leading role. There are multiple rooms, including one with a long table and huge windows that let the light spill in dramatically. I was lowkey stunned by how pretty it all was. Girlfriend and I shared the Clarified Lassi ($13), which is under the "Delightfully Unusual" section of their cocktail spectrum - right in between "Colloquial" and "What?!" It was fruity, creamy, and weird in a cool, sophisticated way. My Hotelie friend later explained in the car (upon mention of the drink) that clarified cocktails use a process where milk is added to a mixed drink and then curdled on purpose. The curds trap impurities, and when you strain them out, you're left with a crystal-clear drink that still has the creamy mouthfeel. Definitely checks out with the Clarified Lassi that we drank... Overall, the experience felt like stepping into a fancy secret. 10/10 would come back, undoubtedly!!

Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

Both nights I ordered the "burger of the month" which was a pesto burger. I added bacon and asked for a Caesar salad instead of fries. We ordered two of the chicken bites so the group could try both sauces, but since I'm not a fan of spicy, I only tried the honey truffle one and loved it.
