We love the Gin as our go to date night spot. Friendly staff, good food, and relaxed atmosphere. It doesn't get too loud in the dining room and always seems to be packed in the bar. We have been here a few nights where the staff and/or kitchen has been overwhelmed and both times received excellent communication. One night the host and manager on duty made sure to stop by to check on us. Would highly recommend. read more

Stopped in for lunch and had the Wagu Cheese burger. Was very disapointed as the meat was overcooked with not much flavor, crunchy around the edges, and had small bits of cartiledge and bone that I had to keep spiting out. Also the onion rings were undercooked. Had expected a much better tasting burger for $12. I had not been to this place since it was remodeled from the Cotton Gin. Was very disappointed. I want to like this place more than I do. The service and drinks have been good each time, but every food item has been lackluster. Nothing bad, but nothing worth being excited about either. Used to be a great spot for breakfast and lunch before they changed over to the current model. Now it's overpriced with WAY less options and the best dishes no longer available. They traded out a quaint, cute diner aesthetic with good food for a more "hip" model with leather booths and minimal options. There are several other options of this model not far away that are much better. Won't be going back again. read more

Walked over to Cotton Gin. First time. Cool little downtown cafe. What you would think about if you thought of a small town cafe. Comfort food may not be farm fresh, but it was super hot and definitely better than any fast food place. (I had lunch...I hear breakfast is farm fresh) I will go again, I will take friends and family. It's a neat little place. The food is good, the people are nice, but more than anything it seems to be the type of place where you go to spend time with the people you are with with. A family dinner table away from home if you will. I like it! read more

I live in town as well and had breakfast last Saturday. I was very disappointed in the food as everything we were served was between warm and cold including the coffee. There were five of us and we all felt the same when we left. We have been going here from the time it opened as the Cotten Gin and the breakfast is not anywhere as good as it was. The should do a better job about telling people they do not want kids outside after 7. Especially if you are going to take 45 minutes to take an order. Then an additional 45 to bring the checks and an additional 20 to bring them back after the cards are presented. Especially if your staff is more than willing to stand outside and tell you no kids outside after 7 but not help speed up your attempt at leaving. Let me start by saying, I'm not really sure how this place gets one or two stars. This is a very nice hidden restaurant/bar/backyard patio gem right in the middle of Prosper. They are growing and the back patio is going to be the place to be in a few months, that is for sure. The menu is small, but the food is good. I'd rather have fewer choices and good food than lots of choices with substandard quality. Everyone was always asking if we were alright, if we needed anything, etc.. I loved that. However the rockstar of the place is Ashlee. Please ask to be seated in her area, I assure you, you won't have better service. Her customer service and attention to detail is second to none, and I'll definitely be going back if nothing else, to have amazing customer service provided by her! read more

Cool place and the food others seemed to be eating looked good but service is a bust. Wasted an hour to sit for a table and nobody even showed up to take an order after waiting another 20 mins once seated. Way too many tables for only three servers working who also had to bus tables. Be honest with customers-- especially those waiting with kids-- when you're too understaffed for a visit. We had to get up and leave with empty tummies! read more

The good outweighs the bad, for sure. Very nice service, very clean place. I came with a small group of 5. I got some wings and a salad - very good for both of those. Fresh salad, and the wings had great flavor! My friend got a chicken dish that he liked pretty much. The mashed potatoes were lovely! Another friend got nachos, which are hard to judge.. the toppings were great! Loved all the ingredients. The chips were quite bad. Kind of stale, very thick, and just not crisp. I'd just take a bowl of the toppings. The next friend got a burger. This was the letdown. The burger was overcooked and super greasy. The bun was oily. The cheese was sliding off, not due to melting, but due to grease. And the fries that came with it were not even warm, and soggy. I, myself, am not a fan of the pizza style. But it wasn't bad. My friend loved it! I'm from st. Louis, so it's different. But it wasn't bad at all for the style. I'd definitely come back! And I would recommend.. just not the burger. Great atmosphere and food. The live music was great too! The staff was friendly and accommodating. We sat outside by the band for an event. One of the servers forgot one of our round of drinks for about 20 minutes or so but once we ordered again after moving inside, he felt terrible and comped them for the inconvenience. It was a large crowd we had with us so totally not a big deal and it happens. I love the modernness yet country feel of the place. The drinks were great! We had: The Lilac, which was like a lilac lemonade. Very refreshing and not super sweet! The Smash, which was also not super sweet, very refreshing and pretty! Grey Goose Dirty Martini, was made yummy but maybe a tad too much vermouth. La Crema Pinot Noir, DELICIOUS! The Food: Chicken wings, our table ordered some but since I don't eat meat, didn't taste them but they looked great and perfectly cooked. The carrots and celery were fresh and ranch was perfect. Pizza was awesome, we had all of them but only little pieces without meat on them lol. Still yum! The bruschetta crisps were DELICIOUS! The garlic bread and sauce was also very very good. Loved the slight spice in the sauce. They also had sports on the screens, so if you're into that! Can't wait to go in the summer! read more

Because of slow service at the tables, we pulled up chairs at the bar. Bartenders were friendly and drinks were good. VERY limited menu. Food was good, but portions were small. $13 is a lot for a dozen wings with no sides. But, they did taste good. read more

The old Cafe was just fine, good food and great small town ambiance, with the renovations I'm not sure why the food and service changed. Our food took forever to Cooke out and it came out in installments. The food was terrible, my chili tasted like it was out of a can! The quest Was a disgrace and my daughter was told they were out of wings 15 minutes after we placed thee order. This appears to be a small business where the staff is incredibly friendly and has a loyal following. There was always someone waiting to order. I intended to order the catfish special, but when I was told it was fillet, I decided to go with something else. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. In retrospect, I probably should have gotten curly fries or fried okra. The food I received was ok, but not great. I think it may have been better had I ordered something else, so I'm willing to give it another shot. read more

I've tried the Gin several times now...Idk why this place is known for the pizza. Their pizza is terrible. Every time we've tried it it's been either "floppy" or burnt. The rest of the food is inconsistent. My turkey sandwich was given to me on a raw English muffin. The fried pickles and burgers were very good. The staff is sweet but SLOW and most do not wear masks. I will probably continue to patronize the Gin sporadically because it is a small family owned local business but I'll make sure I have a lot of time to waste and I'll stick to the burger and fried pickles. read more
