Each time we're in Marfa we stop in this great little market for whatever food needs we have. They carry items you'd expect to find at larger markets like Whole Foods. Instead, shopping here is clearly supporting local. Organic and vegan selections available as well. Small store with a larger selection than you'd think they would have. Super clean. I love this speciality grocery store (have for a long time) but the staff attitude needs to change. Months ago a grown man wined that I was there 30 minutes before close and the same tonight by a woman with blonde hair wearing glasses. I understand the grocery store has a closing time but the staff should expect a 5-10 minute delay in closing for customers to finish shopping. They can always lock the door and then unlock for a customer to leave. There's an appropriate way to let customers know when it's time to go but not the way the store employee approached me. They signed up for the job so complaining to me is unacceptable and absolute horseshit. The staff should be talked to. read more

This grocery store in town is the cutest. It's got most of the basics and essential groceries to make a nice steak with cheesey spinach or brussels or potatoes and greens. Great selection of cheeses and meats for a charcuterie board. It's just such a quaint shop. They even have cheesecakes for a celebration!! The Get Go is a godsend in Marfa. I believe it's owned by someone who owns another business in Marfa, and boy do they fill a local need. It's basically a convenience store-sized gourmet market. It's across from the bookstore and just south of Ballroom Marfa (the other end of the same block.) So...Marfa is a small (1-2 miles square town) surrounded by ranchland. There are some very different demographics here, and the main grocery store (Pueblo Market) does the job on a good day, but falls pretty short on a bad day (frequently out of stock/empty shelves, very limited meat and produce selection, woefully understocked pharmacy/toiletries, etc.) I know there are residents in the area who never set foot in the Get Go. But I also suspect that there are residents who cringe a little every time they visit Pueblo Market. The Get Go is a small market that has a Whole Foods/Sprouts kind of bent. It has a lot of merch packed in, but it's less than 20% of size of a Whole Foods. It's got a great domestic and international wine selection, a lot of gourmet food, and a lot of organic products. It's a cross between a health food store and a gourmet food store, with a little more emphasis on the latter. P.S. Two visits, two months apart, two different cashiers (one male, one female) - both were very friendly, very helpful and generally just awesome. Just go. Go support the Get Go. Marfa sorely needs it. The only other "nearby" place to get most similar things is 25 miles up the road in Alpine! read more

The Get Go is a dream of a gourmet grocery store in the high desert. They stock a small but very well-curated selection of artisan cheeses, fresh bread, quality meats, an impressive wine and craft beer selection and specialty items for just about every dietary restriction out there... vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free folks and anyone interested in organic, clean eating - come on in! The staffers were extremely affable and helpful, assisting my friend locate a few specialty gluten-free items such as her favorite crackers and cookies. The only reason why I'm giving The Get Go a strong four stars instead of a flawless five are the prices: a particular go-to bottle of wine set me back $20 here and I usually pick this wine up for $12-15 in Austin, St. Louis and Chicago. I understand Marfa is literally 'off the beaten path', but we really felt the markup on most of our must-haves. But, there's something to be said for convenience, and the Get Go nails that angle. Hmm, there seems to be lots of bad reviews here based on service. The woman working the counter was nice enough when I was paying but she appeared to be the only employee and it was a Saturday afternoon so it was busy and she had to make sure there were only five customers in the shop at a time due to operating at 25% capacity during the pandemic. I saw her chase a man out of the store, haha. So maybe let's just give them a break since this is a weird time. This was my first time at The Get Go even though I have been to Marfa several times, but I just hadn't managed to mosey on over before. I didn't need anything but there were so many cool items that I ended up making a purchase. Nice selection of wine. They even had Veuve Clicquot in case you're feeling fancy. Conveniently located on a corner so you can cross the street to other businesses such as The Marfa Store, Marfa Brand Soap, and Do Your Thing Coffee. Oh yeah, another reviewer from a couple of years ago said you won't find regular brands like Lay's and Haribo - not true! They had a variety of Haribo candies by the counter. Love this local grocery store! My fiancé and I had visited the Marfa Maid goat farm pre-covid but weren't able to try the goat cheese. We got very lucky when we stopped by the get go this last Friday. They had ONE package of jalapeño goat cheese. We snagged that and some crackers. We stopped at this little shop on our Marfa trip and my boyfriend jokingly called it "Quarter Foods" since pretty much everything we saw at that store we've seen at a Whole Foods. But all joking aside, this cute little shop is great for groceries, toiletries, snacks, a few pet supplies, and it has a wall full of tea! The staff was friendly enough and the produce they had looked delicious and fresh! We stopped here intently to get some local Marfa goat cheese. That being said, that's the reason I'm rating this place 4 out of 5 -- there's just not much local stuff. This may be due to the small size of the town or the lack of the type of products we expected. If there'd been a wall of Local Goods that would have made this place 5/5. Nevertheless, I'd definitely recommend this place as a stop if you're staying in town and you require expensive organic vegetarian/vegan grocery items. True Story: So, on Sunday morning we were getting ready to leave Marfa and we decided to take a quick, little walk around town before embarking on a three-hour drive back to the El Paso Airport. It was windy and cold but we were dressed for the weather. As we finished our walk and approached the door of the house we had rented, I said "do you have the key?" He looked at me quizically and said, "I thought you had the key. Do you have your cell phone because mine is inside." Of course, my answer was "No, I left my phone inside too." If we were in a comic book the next panel in the story would have been a thought bubble between us that said "UH OH." Luckily, Marfa is the kind of place where you can rent a house behind an art gallery (Gallery Urbane for those of you who are curious) and the property manager's phone number is posted on the front door of the gallery. But what to do with the manager's phone number (long distance no less) when you are a stranger in a foreign land? Why, go to the Get Go of course! They will not only let you make a long distance call ... they will also sell you something (like chocolate or a snack to help you pass the time while you wait for the property manager to bring an extra key). Self described as the best independent grocery in West, TX, I am inclined to agree. You want it gluten free, organic, natural, or just fancy and unusual? The Get Go has got it. Best off all, they have a request list on the front counter. This is where locals can get all of the speciality ingredients that all of us big-city folks who have easy access to Whole Foods, Central Market, and Trader Joe's just take for granted. This place reminds me of a glorified bodega in Williamsburg or San Francisco, stocking off-brand items and that one thing you're always looking for, but can't seem to find at your local specialty store. The wonderful thing about it is that it's in a place that you would unseemingly expect, the middle of West Texas, but isn't that what we're all looking for here in Marfa? I love that it's there, but I'm not in Marfa to go grocery shopping. Yes, the cashier is a little off-putting. Yes, my chapstick was $5. Yes, I saw Beyonce's photo in front of the store. If I could it give it a negative rating I would. I went during the thanksgiving break and this was the only shitty experience I had. The products are fine, service sucks. When I entered I was not greeted, and the store seemed empty but a grouch was waiting on the other end. The slim older white male cashier seemed annoyed I was in there. What's the point of having a store then? I really wish I would have read some of the reviews because that guy sucks at life. He never talked to me, just gave me my total and that was it. This is a cute, hipster grocery store that includes anything from produce, to toiletries, and to pet food. Keep in mind that you won't find your typical convenient store foods such as Lay's chips or Haribo gummy bears; instead, you'll find seaweed snacks, Swedish stroopwafels, and unique items like so. There is a wide selection of these not-so-typical snacks but hey, try something new! The cashier was also friendly and nice. I give this place a 4/5 because of lack of organization. I wish there were signs or something to let me know where's what. On the other hand, it may be fun to take some time to look around at everything. read more

The Get Go is quite possibly the greatest little market, ever. Its in a great location (right by Ballroom Marfa and Marfa Book Co.) and while its small, they have an impressive selection of groceries from organic fresh produce to Eden Organic canned beans to Traditional Medicinals & Yogi teas to a giant wine wall to TopoChico to organic chocolates to locally made (and incredible) Marfa Maid goat cheese to Have'a Corn Chips (one of my personal favorite items). On top of groceries they offer a wide selection of cleaning and personal items including local, handmade soaps (that I fell in love with) and homeopathic medicines. Its very-much like a mini version of Whole Foods. And...... they even carry Jeni's Ice Cream! In my 4 day stay in Marfa we came to The Get Go at least once (if not twice) each day. The Get Go is fine. It's a small super hip grocery store with an organic/GF/Tom's deodorant thing going on. You know what I'm talking about. If you want a decent selection of beer, a good selection of cheeses, gourmet (ish) chocolate, or anything Cascadian Farm, this is the place to go. I'm certain The Get Go fills a need in Marfa so I'm glad it's there, but I prefer Porter's for just about everything not mentioned above. read more

While The Get Go in Marfa, TX has an amazing range of products for a small town store, the cashier needs to be a little more courteous to his patrons. He was incredibly rude to one of my friends while on a recent visit to Marfa. My friend's daughter was commenting about how expensive items in the store are. The daughter is 14 and was just curious, but the cashier proceeded to say that he hated @&$"ing tourists and a few other profane statements. While the man is entitled to his opinion, he should show some class and let things like this go, after all, tourists probably make up the bulk of his business. I have to say that the Get Go has one of the best vegan/GF selections I have ever seen. We stayed at Stay Marfa which is right across the street so we were in the grocery store about 6 different times in 2 days. We are vegan and I am allergic to wheat so it was so nice to have so many options in this small West Texas town. They have everything. Daiya cheese, vegan ice cream, all natural body products, tempeh, incredible coffee and great produce. There were so many products there I have never even seen before! I even bought some Bhutanese Rice that I couldn't even find at Whole Foods in Austin. Some things were a bit pricey but definitely worth the price of finding these items out in the middle of nowhere. read more
