If you're a red wine drinker - you're in luck - as yummy reds are the bulk of the varieties you can enjoy. I recommend doing a tasting to fully enjoy - especially if it's your first time visiting. Plus - if you end up purchasing a bottle, the tasting fee is waved. While the property itself is still a bit in progress (they were putting the finishing touches on an AirBnB section the last time I visited, it's more about the wine and the views, right? And there's no better way to pass your day than by enjoying a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains as you gaze out over the grape vines. The staff is ALWAYS super friendly, if you're lucky you'll spot one of the roaming pets on the property, AND there's a really awesome food truck on site (Too Hot for TABC). The tour of the dairy farm was the absolute highlight of my most recent Marfa trip. Melinda and Alan were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. In addition, to learning all about the cheese making process, how the goats are cared for, and how the dairy was founded - we also got to learn all about how our hosts wound up in Marfa running a dairy, as well as great local insight into Marfa and the surrounding areas. I simply can't rave enough about them both. In addition to that, let's not forget the other highlights of the trip - getting to pet cute, friendly goats to your heart's content AND sample some delicious cheeses. Unfortunately, it was not the right time of year for fresh cheese so we couldn't purchase any, but what we were able to sample was SO GOOD. A visit to this active dairy farm is a great way to spend an hour or so in this kitsch little art town located in the middle of the Texas desert and mountains.

We learned about their background, hung out with the adult goats and wandered over to the baby goat area last. Lastly, we took turns milking one of the goats. :) The goats are amazingly friendly and intelligent and the goat cheese is decadent and awesome! The whole experience took roughly and hour, but you can stay longer or shorter, it really depends on how your group is interacting.
