Just when you think you've visited the worst Walmart in your life in another town.... whaam! , here…read moreyou arrive at the Walmart in Pecos Texas. Of course pretty much everything in Pecos Texas is overcrowded, run-down and expensive for what they really are. Except for Walmart! You get your standard Walmart prices but you do not have an automotive department, no 24 hours and even longer lines, but you do get to dodge Isles full of inventory that need to be broken down and items put on the shelves. Also, don't let me get started on the 20 plus people deep line because like overcrowded Pecos Texas everybody is trying to pack 10 pounds of crap in a 5lb bag, Walmart is no exception. This is one place that definitely needed to be a super Walmart. I'm going to hate to give this advice to you but the Family Dollar and general dollar down the road put this Walmart to shame. Now that you might have taken this advice, please do me a favor and do not go into these dollar stores until I am done finished and left this piece of a something town. I don't want my favorite places to get overcrowded. Oh, and before I go one more important thing, the parking lot! You think you're from Houston and driving /parking cannot get any worse than those Asians in Bellaire? Yes those people, but these people put the people that Park in Walmart to shame, actually make them look like professionals or something because if you try to come in here with a nice vehicle you can pretty much be assured you will have 6 Vehicles parked around a 4 space to park a lot around you in Every Which Way but Loose. Welcome to Pecos Texas, your misery has only begun.

Stopped in here while passing through Fort Stockton, and I must say I was impressed. This is not a…read morebig walmart, but it is a nice one. Overall, very clean. Even the parking lot was trash free, and there weren't a lot of stray carts lying around (that could either be a testament to Walmart being on top of their game, or to the people of Ft Stockton just being very courteous.. We may never know lol). The interior of the store was a LOT smaller than I have ever seen, but it had the basics. Enough to be called a supercenter, I reckon. The people were friendly, and not just the employees. It appeared to be a true small town walmart, where everyone is just plain friendly to everyone. People of Fort Stockton, although you may not realize it you have a gem in this Walmart. Trust me, I have seen MUCH worse!!

They even have a bulk section with a lot of spices, so that was nice. It is a little bit pricey but I guess that's the cost to pay to be autonomous in the desert for a few days. Definitely the best stop you can make before Big Bend National Park.

The staff were very welcoming, greeting us as we came in. When deciding on a sandwich, you get to pick the bread, the meat, the veggies and the condiments so literally no two sandwiches could be alike. The sandwich also came with a side (we opted for the coleslaw and the fruit) and by far, it was a good little bite that held us over as we continued to explore the area. They have seating inside as well as outside and it's worth the stop and taking a peek inside.

I love this speciality grocery store (have for a long time) but the staff attitude needs to change…read more Months ago a grown man wined that I was there 30 minutes before close and the same tonight by a woman with blonde hair wearing glasses. I understand the grocery store has a closing time but the staff should expect a 5-10 minute delay in closing for customers to finish shopping. They can always lock the door and then unlock for a customer to leave. There's an appropriate way to let customers know when it's time to go but not the way the store employee approached me. They signed up for the job so complaining to me is unacceptable and absolute horseshit. The staff should be talked to.
