Aubergine schnitzel
Sunny K.

Ah, the luxury end of the veggie market! Came here with my bestie to celebrate belated birthdays and we ordered the mixed mezze to start. As you can see from the pic it was stunningly presented. I particularly liked the miso aubergine, ponzu dip and the pickle. So perfect! For the second course we ordered an aubergine schnitzel in a gorgeous creamy sauce to share, since we were rather stuffed from the starters - and even without being asked they plated it on two separate dishes (and weirdly generously they still looked like whole portions)! I wish we'd had room for dessert but I guess we'll just have to come back! This is my fave location of The Gates and definitely the most luxe looking and the most comfortable in terms of booth seating and ambience :D

Came for a nice fancy supper club and had a good time! It was well organized and the wine pairings were key - they had a professional introduce each wine before the course. My fav item was the dessert - chocolate hazelnut pouch. The soup and risotto were also wonderful. There was lots of staff on hand to clear dishes and take care of us. Would come again!

Excellent service, great presentation, and truly delicious vegan food. Not only am I super picky about what I eat, I also value good service. The Gate gets 5 stars for both! We made last minute reservations but it was not a problem to get in. Every dish we ordered was excellent: not salty, not oily, but done just right. The banoffee was the final treat! The ambience was smartly done, simple and elegant, not overstated. Definitely my kind of place. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious, thoughtful and elegantly presented food. Attentive and unobtrusive service. Well thought out wine list with a good selection by the glass or carafe, if you want less than a bottle. Given the overall quality of the meal and service, i think The Gate is a good value. I left happier and more content than when i entered. I look forward to my next visit.

Thai curry (I think) that my husband had and amazing risotto with mushrooms.

Super delicious food, beautiful presentation, creative dishes, and good service. I would highly recommend this place. I came here on vacation and had to come back later in the week it was so yummy! Also the brothers who started and run the place are nice and have a cool story.

This place is ABSOLUTELY amazing! The food is phenomenal! Even if you're not vegan, it's so delish! A must try in London! (Risotto )

Even if you're not vegan you must try this place! Everything on the menu is incredible! The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the resto was so cute! Highly recommend the espresso martinis if you're in for a treat. Extensive list of organic wines. After not being able to eat risotto or eaton mess for years due to allergies, this place could not have hit the spot more. I would go out of my way to come here again when I'm in London next!

Widely regarded as one of the city's most popular vegan restaurants, it delivers food that is satisfying, hearty, and packed with flavour. I ordered the Chick+n Caesar Burger, which featured a plant-based chick+n patty, Caesar mayonnaise, lettuce, and red onion relish. My wife chose the Beetroot Carrot Vada Burger, made with a masala-spiced beetroot and carrot patty, mango lime slaw, green chutney, and tamarind chutney. Both burgers were served with a generous portion of fries and made for a very filling meal. What stood out most was the quality of the flavours and the portion sizes. Every ingredient felt thoughtfully chosen, and the combinations worked exceptionally well together. As someone who regularly eats meat, I was genuinely impressed by the texture and flavour of the Chick+n Caesar Burger. We also ordered two fresh juices: the Cucumber, Celery & Apple and the Pineapple, Apple, Ginger & Turmeric. Both were refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or simply looking to try something different, Mildreds is well worth a visit. The menu is creative, the food is delicious, and the overall experience demonstrates just how good plant-based dining can be. Highly recommended if you're visiting London and exploring the Covent Garden area. Service was great - super friendly staff Ambiance was nice - a chilled, quiet, progressive crowd

The mains were so good. We had the Korean fried chicken burger (which was HUGE, by the way), the beetroot burger, and the tofu salad. The burgers were very good, but boy, when I took a bite of my friend's salad, I fell in love. It was refreshing, the flavors were yum, and I'm drooling a bit rn thinking about it. The staff were extremely quick, kind, and sweet. There's lots of seating, although the downstairs area was quite packed. Overall, I loved the ambience of the place!

The moment I step in, one of the staff explained the concept of Tibit to me. Items are clearly labelled. Because I was there around breakfast time, I did not get a chance to see the lunch and dinner options. With that said, I really enjoyed the vegan "sausage" roll (1.60 pound). It was flakey on the outside and filled with delicious UFO (unidentified filling option). I commend Tibits for their plant-based ingenuity.

It was clean and roomy, and I liked the overall vibe. 4/5 SELECTION: It's all vegetarian (but they have labels for which are vegan, along with some other allergy notifications) and it's like a hot food bar, where you put whatever you want on a plate and then they weigh it, and you pay per 100g. There are 40 different dishes offered daily, including salads, hot dishes, and desserts. They also have drinks and cocktails. 3/5 WHAT I GOT: From what I remember/can see from my picture, I got white rice, mixed greens, bok choy, a grilled veggies mix, a green beans mix, a potatoes and peas mix and some of an artichoke dish. All of the stuff I got was vegan. It was all pretty good and tasted fresh and of good quality -- in fact, it was probably the best buffet/hot food type bar I've ever been to. None of it tasted like it'd been sitting out for a while, and none of it was undercooked or tasted too processed. The only complaint I have is that I wish they refrained from using oil, but it actually could've been much worse, so that's that. 3/5 SERVICE: The employees seemed friendly. I mean, we didn't really need to interact with them much, given the style of eatery, but they seemed nice lol. 4/5

It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

I just do not understand the hype surrounding this restaurant. It's hard to get a reservation and…read morethere's a long queue to get a table without one. I just don't get it. In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.

This restaurant was recommended to me by someone who comes here whenever they're in London and it did not disappoint. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant is very busy/popular. I decided to have lunch on my own and there was about a 15 minute wait. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind, and the inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so it sets a cool and intimate vibe. It's a very vibrant atmosphere. The menu had so many delicious options to choose from. I went with the vegetable samosas to start and a fresh nimbu soda which was very refreshing. For my main dish I had the chicken ruby and a said of garlic naan. Everything was so incredibly fresh. The food was served as soon as it was done being prepared and the flavors were immaculate!!!! 10 out of 10! No notes! And I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking. We managed to snag a reservation here before coming to London on a Saturday around 6:30 PM. We got there right on time and and our table was ready immediately. For appetizers, we got some samosas and chili chicken which were delicious! They also gave us some of these rice crackers with different sauces which were delicious. For our entrees, we got some biryani, ruby chicken and rice, malai chicken, the gunpowder potatoes and 3 orders of naan! It was all delicious! The biryani with the yogurt sauce is my personal favorite but their garlic naan is great too. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake and I opted for the chai to end the meal which was delicious! This meal was stunning and you must stop by Dishoom while in London.

For the main course we had some different dishes coming up with riche or Butter Naan. All were very tasteful and the way they were served seemed really authentic to me. The service was good, always making sure that we had enough to drink and are enjoying our food. As deserts we had Gulab Jammum ( Golden condensed milk dumplings in a rose and saffran syrup) Amazing! You really gotta try this. If there would be one thing i would be picky about, it would be the interieur of the dining room in the back of the restaurant. It is not really the most relaxing place to sit in. At least the plastic flowers hanging down from the ceiling could be changed into real ones, but in a way this also fits to India.. ;-)
