This used to be a good brunch but it's no where near what it was when it had more quality and care demonstrated. The salad is just some insipid translucent lettuce with little else, the entrees are obvious re-treads of the week before foods, the shrimp & crab previously was nicely displayed on ice and made to look appealing...now it just sits to the side in aluminum bowls...the deserts as well were attractively displayed with good variety...now there's just little plates of dried out whatever with little choice. Also back in the day, it included champagne (really how hard is that?) which is typical with nice brunches. It has also gone up considerably in price at $50+ so less value for more money. Sorry to be negative but it's sad to see a once-desirable brunch sink into such mediocrity. Service is always wonderful though and the waitresses are always very nice and attentive! What was supposed to be a fun, late breakfast turned into a huge letdown. We have been here many times over the years, but haven't been back in about a year until today. What a disappointment for $50 for 2 breakfasts. The food was barely over the quality of the convenience store next door at the gas station to begin with. 2 basic breakfasts & 2 beverages should not be $50, but if it does can you at least smile once in awhile?! All we wanted was for him to take our money, but fortunately that customer insisted the mngr help us instead to which he came across as annoyed & his only words were, "cash or card?" 8 years later. Have eaten here at least two dozen times. The fruit yard holds the honor of being the most average restaurant on the planet. They have a huge menu, food quality is fine, it's a big, kind of nice place, the service is ok and the prices are pretty average. Everything is more or less generic. Not bad, not great, just...ok. My wife and I have coined the phrase "it's a fruityard" for stuff that is remarkably average. To be fair, breakfasts are a bit above average. Old school large portion restaurant with lots of booth seating. Located between the gas station and next to their outdoor amphitheater venue. Roosters and chickens will greet you outside, Flies for the inside. This place has by far one of the best salad bars I have seen in a long time, I was completely jazzed to go salad crazy! But then I found out I would be the second mouth for everything there. The sheer amount of flies having a dance party on the salad bar was insane! Sadly we got sat next to it as well, so we had regular visits, our entire meal. I opted for the 10oz aged filet mignon and an add on Lobster tail, seasoned veggie, and a baked potato to win over any heart. The Filet Mignon was cooked exactly to my order! The lobster tail was delicious and the garlic clarified butter was delightful. The sautéed veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned. And my baked potato was loaded and perfect. The low score is because the place seems to not staff enough waiters/waitresses, or they really could barely care you are there. For as much as I enjoyed the food, I doubt I will make it back to eat in the restaurant. The fly situation is beyond horrible, and it seems like they only try to move them around, vs capture and destroy! So sad, what could of been 5 star based on the food, got beat up by non existent service, and unclean atmosphere. Kudos to the kitchen! The Fruit Yard Restaurant on Yosemite Blvd recently fell short of our expectations regarding the quality of its food. Despite its family-friendly service, clean environment, and local ownership, The Grilled Salmon Dinner was overcooked and lacked tenderness, contrary to the perfectly grilled dish advertised on the menu. The Jerusalem Chicken was stringy and tough, one positive note the Jerusalem Sauce was very good. Although the Blackened Salmon wasn't on the menu, the server informed us that the Chef could prepare it, but it also was very dry and overcooked and tough. Last, the Calamari Steak was undercooked. Found this place while driving to Oakdale. The inside is huge and even has a salad bar. Since it's so big it's a perfect spot for large parties. I ordered the pancakes with seasonal fruit, bacon and eggs. For being a Saturday morning it wasn't too busy which was nice because we got our food fast. The only downside is we live about 40 minutes away otherwise we'd be here every weekend. Can't wait to come back. read more

After going to this venue since it opened - I can honestly say we will no longer be going to any events here. Ownership has gotten egregiously greedy. It now costs 20.00 to park on a dirt lot that is poorly supervised and when you get inside they are charging 15.00 for a solo cup size beer and 5.00 for a Crystal Geyser water ( a case sells for 4.00 - it is not that I ca not afford it... My best friend treated me to lunch here yesterday (thanks sweet cheeks!), and we had a lovely, kind, upbeat waitress, Angela. My friend said she wished she could sit and join us. Besides the top notch service, we loved our salads. It was the cleanest, freshest salad bar I've seen in a long time. Pineapple so sweet and juicy, creamy macaroni salad, almost like Hawaiian style, crisp veggies that didn't look sad and wilted like others I've seen before, and salad tongs sitting tall and proud inside the bowls. I used to work at a salad bar many years ago (out of business now, RIP Fresh Choice) and used to stick those tongs in the bowls and see customers throw them down and knock over the food. So I took the cucumbers that fell over, didn't want to be the one making that mess. Topped my salad with crunchy noodles and yummy ranch dressing and am now craving salad the next morning lol. We also had patty melts with crispy fries, no complaints there either. We were too full from salad, so we could have split one. Portions are generous! I'm so glad my friend chose this place. This local classic, out in the countryside, is a win for breakfast and lunch, but more of a gamble for dinner. They make the best pancakes I've had in California and excellent bacon. Most lunch sandwiches are pretty good, and the service at lunch and breakfast is excellent. You will never lack for drink refills, and the iced tea is great. For dinner, the almond-crusted fish dish is A+. Fried fish is good. Steak dishes are fine -- not superb, but I've been to steak houses that didn't do as well. Skip the soup offering in favor of the salad bar, which is comprehensive. Everyone loves the salad bar, and rightly so. Service is where you have to be careful with dinner. Most of the servers are fantastic, but the one tall guy who used to work fine-dining will size you up and decide what service you get based on how you dress. He will also interrupt your ordering to try to aggressively upsell you. If you're not local, do let yourself be upsold to a slice of pie for dessert. This place is our pick for the best pie in the region. The sour-cream cherry is my favorite. If you are local, the little store to the east of the restaurant, behind the gas station, sells whole pies, fresh fruit, BBQ, dried fruit, and other goodies. (Heck, get a slice now and a whole pie for later!) Ambience is exactly on target for a traditional California roadside restaurant attached to a fruit stand: clean and nice, comfortable, a little rustic, not a white-tablecloth experience. There exists a party room. They host country music tours -- the Trace Adkins, Sam Hunt tier, so not the biggest megastars, but you've definitely heard their hits -- at the amphitheater to the west of the restaurant. read more

Salad bar was the best part of meal. But you don't pay almost $300 for a family of 4 for salad bar. The topper is when I go to pay my bill was almost $300. I asked for a to go box for my daughter's plate . They waiter told me no so I ask to speak to a manager. The manager came over . I said a complete Turkey dinner you are selling for $189.99 for 10-12 people. I payed almost $300 and am asking for 1 to go plate because she didn't eat all her food. Would you rather throw away. Manager said yes. That they don't give to go boxes. If he gives to me he will have to give to everyone. So he is going to throw food away. Unbelievable. Food was not good. Today was our first time visiting this restaurant. My husband & I got to try the Tuesday Family All You Can Eat Buffet, that happens to take place every 3rd Tuesday of the month. The seating was comfortable, the food was delicious, and our waitress Lindsey was amazing. She provided great costumer service & even gave us information of their other buffet style days so that we can return. My husband's favorite thing from today's meal, was the all you can eat fresh crab. We plan to return & try their Sunday brunch next time with our son. I'm just hoping they can include some type of a kid lunch or meal with it. Other than this, I highly recommend this place. It did not disappoint and everything tasted great .
