Ngl I was actually intimidated to walk in because The French Workshop looks SO fancy. I worked up enough courage to walk through the door and I am glad I did. They have an almost overwhelming selection of items both in cases and pre-packed. I picked up a Nutella cake off of the table to bring home to the fam and let me tell you, I almost wish I did not try it because once I started eating it, I could not stop. I put it in the oven to warm it because it seemed that perhaps it was headed towards the end of it's life span and doing so revived it. Very tasty. Not overly chocolatey - just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth. I purchase a vegan carrot muffin to have in house and although I did not care much for the icing, but the muffin itself was very moist with a good texture and no raisins thank the lord. Excellent choice of freshly baked goods. I especially like the oatmeal raisin cookies, so fresh and thick and tasty, 1 cookie is almost filling enough for lunch! And the muffins are multitudes fresher and better than anywhere else in the area. Fresh, tasty, hot coffee. Lots of tables and chairs if you prefer to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere. Imagine a bakery that looks like a jewelry store inside. Everything is pristine and all of their goods are showcased incredibly well. I just checked this place out last night for the first time, my wife had been here a couple of weeks ago with a friend and since we were nearby we decided to stop in again. We bought a few items for ourselves and the kids, a créme brûlée cheesecake, carrot cake, apple tart, and at least one other item. Everything was a hit. I'm saving the cheesecake to share with her later but I had the apple tart to myself and it was delicious, she loved her carrot cake the kids loved what they got as well. So the food and pastries here, top notch!! The management and organization of the place, definitely could be worked on! I stopped in for some pastries and a sandwich. The line is awkward as the whole length of the counter is also the length of the line so you can't actually see all the potential items that you could order from the back of the line. Then if you get a macaron from the end of the line and don't see the cookies at the front of the line, you're basically screwed. Almost all the items I ordered were wrong. I wanted two madeleines stuffed with Nutella and they gave me 1. I wanted 2 mini pain du chocolat and they gave me 1 of those as well. I got the above mentioned treats and some others for family members and they loved them all. Everything was buttery, delicious and fresh! I ordered an egg white and spinach sandwich on a croissant for myself and it was fabulous! I also enjoyed the fact that you can see the open kitchen and watch the bakers make all of these delicious treats! The space inside is really so beautiful and definitely an upscale cade environment. It would just be nice if there were more people working the counter and a way to see all the items without all the chaos. Great coffee, great food, great desserts & great atmosphere! This location is so cute & they have non dairy milk options which is a plus for me. I've tried a few sandwiches, desserts and coffees. I love eating at places that also have a nice aesthetic so this place is a must. The staff is really friendly as well! Took some photos of the desserts but they have a few egg sandwiches, on bread or croissants, savory food items, sandwiches ( salami, prosciutto, chipotle chicken, honey Turkey, chicken avocado ... etc) they also have vegan options, croissants, fresh bread... etc! Great addition to the area. they have a wide selection of everything from sweet cookies, savory croissants, cakes, macarons, sandwiches and everything inbetween. Single serve pastries, large cakes for parties and pretty much anything you'd want in a one stop shop bakery. I've had a few things so far, cakes, cookies, macarons and they were all delicious. I definitely want to try their sandwiches next. You can really tell everything here is made with great ingredients. One thing to note, i did get a cookie in the morning and it was hard. I'm thinking it was a day old cookie which for the price, I was definitely annoyed. Aside from that, the service is mediocre. Most of the staff doesn't really seem to know much about what some items are and they really aren't that friendly. They just ask what you want, throw everything in a bag and then shuffle you down to the end where the cashier takes your money with a smirk. Overall, a great place to grab a quick bite or some desserts to bring to a party. Surprisingly reasonably priced as well. TLDR: Seriously-- best pastries in the area. Very spacious with lots of seating. Great place to meet with people. French workshop has multiple locations and created this new one in plainview. I've honestly gone here quite a few times and I must say it is a great addition to the area. There is so much variety of pastries, baked goods, and savory foods. They also have specialty beverages. My favorite pastry is the: Mousse au chocolat which has a great chocolate crumb bottom and white and milk chocolate mousse. It is easily my go to. Favorite drink: Nutella latte. Great balance of hazelnut/Nutella blended with espresso The only thing I did not enjoy so far at the French workshop was the matcha latte. Which is a premade milk powder matcha mix that tasted artificial to me. It resembles the matcha mix at Trader Joe's two shops down. Overall love this place and would go here again. It's open for very long hours every day so it's a great place to meet with people. I personally was able to study here, but it can get very loud with music playing in the background-- and the tables are small. read more

After blowing up on TilTok, I just HAD TO try this spot! If you want to find some good bakery delights, that look like they come out straight from Paris, MAKE A STOP HERE!! The aesthetic of this place, is top tier! Think of little Italy but for France... as soon as you walk in your smell the great , rich mixture of coffee beans and baked goods!! I can't get enough of the smell of a bakery, so this was a beautiful thing to walk into. The aroma makes you want to buy every single thing you see! Not only that, but the presentation of this place is great! Every single item they make is as if it was taken from Gordon Ramsey's home! It's eye catching, and with mesmerizing taste! I got the Chocolate Eclair, which not only tasted exquisite and like no eclair I've ever had before, but it had a gold hew to it, making it look extravagant and great for pictures to share! They have a wide selection of macaroons, it's as French as it gets here in our little island! And no they are not dry and flakey like you would find in the shopping malls, you can tell these are made with love just like everything else they have to sell. Not just sweets but straight down to the bakery classics, bread, breaded cheese sticks, cheese puffs, croissants, anything you think they have, they do! I've been waiting for long island to have a place like this. I usually go to Korean bakeries in flushing like Paris Baguette. This place has a similar feel in that they are a cafe and have pastries. The pistachio gateau and carrot cake were very good. We also got a dozen macaroons to go as well. I took off a star because the seating area was dirty. The white couches had crumbs, stains, and hair where we wanted to sit. It immediately turned me off, but just got a napkin and wiped down the area. read more

I am here visiting family from out of town, and they recommended we give this place a try. I am so glad we did! The space itself is modern and upscale - I wish my kitchen looked like this! There are tons of huge bakery cases with all sorts of sweet and savory items to choose from, with detailed descriptions of what each thing was. We went in the evening so no one had anything from the coffee bar, but there was a great selection there as well. There is plenty of seating inside. This review is based on the amazing salted caramel macaron I bought today. Omg it was so delicious and perfectly baked. I have been to the original location years ago before I moved away and I used to get treats to bring to work or grab a quick bite for breakfast. The mini apple twists are amazing! Wow, I am so happy I tried this spot and I beg the owner to please open another location in farther East in LI. There's nothing like this out here. Coffee bar, fresh bread, sandwiches, all the bakery items you could dream of, macarons, and so much more. I had THE BEST chocolate chip cookie of my life. So delicious. Had a late lunch and it was that in between time of day on a Saturday that screams coffee and a sweet treat. Found the French workshop which is everything one could ask for when searching for coffee and pastry. It's a cute environment with a decent amount of seating. The staff was friendly as well!! They had everything from fancy to classic pastries!! Everything looked AMAZING!!!! We whittled our decision down to 4 items!! Lol an apple crumb cake, a brownie, a "crunchy" and a hand made apple pie. We also ordered a hot tea and Nutella latte. The latte was subtle but the Nutella came through for sure!! And it wasn't blazing hot which I appreciate tremendously!! So far we've tasted the handmade apple pie... delicious!!!! Cannot wait to dig into the rest of it later!!! Since moving to Long Island I find it difficult to find some good pastry shops that make quality and taste desserts but thankfully they opened this gem in the shopping center. I've been to the French workshop in bayside but sometimes it's too far to drive but now I can grab something quick after running errands in the strip mall. There are plenty of shops here to visit and on the way out easily accessible to grab something on the way out. They range from many things other than just desserts. I was one of their first regulars at Bayside when they opened in 2015. Since then I've gotten all my cakes and pastries for special occasions at French Workshop. I was happy for them when they opened Garden City, and then Plainview. I visited Plainview yesterday and was very disappointed at how it is run. Bad customer service. After spending over $150 on goods, I ordered 2 hot chocolates - the young woman asks "with what, with whole milk or what?" in a very rude way. That is not the way to talk to a customer. Then she asks if I paid for my pastry order - did she think that I didn't pay? Then I decide to get some sandwiches and muffins to eat there with the hot chocolates. This time it's a young man. I ask if the pistachio muffin has pistachio pieces inside. He sighs and goes to ask someone, then comes back and confirms that it has pistachio pieces inside. So I include it in my order. When I get to a table and cut into the muffin, I realize it does not have any pistachios pieces inside and bring it to the counter to tell the young man and I politely ask for a refund. He says "no, I can't give you a refund, sorry" I didn't want to argue with him so I told him that he should know his products and walked away. On a side note, the pistachio muffin is just almond flavoring and gaudy green dye - they should take it off the menu. It's something you might see at a cheap Italian-ish bakery. I'm disappointed that the owners would let this location run this way. I suggest that they have their managers visit this location and retrain their staff. It being Christmas Eve is not an excuse. The experience should be even better on special holidays. I must also add the pastry and cake boxes were all smeared with chocolate from dirty gloves. Subpar presentation. I miss the times in Bayside when the pastry was served on porcelain plates with edible gold paint and beautiful tableware, the staff was polite and elegant, and the owner would come out to offer chocolates and cookies to the children. Sad to say that French Workshop does not offer the kind of superb experience as they used to. read more

This place is a great go to for a quick snack/dessert/lunch! Every time I go I get an iced honey hazelnut latte with oatmilk (which has inspired me to make something similar at home). Their creme brulee, tiramisu and crunchy cake are delicious and moist pieces of dessert! When I'm in the mood for something savory, I get their mushroom and goat cheese sandwich or the ham and cheese croissant. Both have great, perfectly textured breadings and ample filling. This spot is too cute and worth checking out! Upon entering, the space is huge! I never would've expected it. There is plenty of seating and the entire space is incredibly esthetic. The seating is so cute and especially during the holidays, they had great decor. There's a large variety of desserts to choose from! We went with the fruit tart and chocolate hazelnut crunch. Both were incredibly delicious and perfect for the season! We paired those with a Nutella latte, which was the perfect balance of creamy/sweet with a side of espresso!
