From the knowledable staff to the quick responses to all of my questions and their patience, they created the perfect cake for my baby's first birthday. I will be back over and over again. Not only was the cake magnificently beautiful, it was also delicious. I was able to get two different flavors for the tiers as well. One flavor was chocolate with salted caramel and the other was vanilla with chocolate mousse. My guests kept coming back for more. The cake shop is small and located in a shopping center 5 minutes from my house. It's decorated with their beautiful cakes and they sell some desserts as well as create custom. I ordered a Too Good to Go bag from Seert Karma the other week, and was happy with the variety of items my family was able to try. When entering the bakery, you get to see all of the decorated cakes on the counters and shelves. These were pretty cool to see up close. When waiting for the bag, the owner came. We ordered a two tier cake for my baby shower, and six gluten free cupcakes. I had a very specific vision, dripping pink icing and fake flowers cascading down the cake and some pink cupcakes with little ghosts. Very sweet things at sweet Karma in Plainview NY in a shopping center off of Manetto Hill Road. They have a s'more like cake and the marshmallows on top are toasted caramelized brown. It has really good chocolate and consistency. I thought I'd asked for one white cupcake but I got a chocolate one. Though the server did look and repeat my order. So I must have been so taken with the Chocolate that I'd chosen that one. I didn't see too many things with whip cream most were buttercream . Donuts , cupcakes and more. There was mold in the domes and the cupcakes. Both were stale. The cupcakes were hard as a rock and actual mold at the bottom. The domes had mold under the frosting. I had two events to go to in one day so i ordered a variety of items (14!) and got to taste about half of their inventory. I have to say their pop tarts are out of this world! Go for blueberry and then strawberry. I saw it on instagram and was so excited to try it. The macaroons are amazing, the churro flavor stole the show i wish i ordered more of them. My mother in law ordered my baby shower cake from Sweet Karma, based on the online reviews (we had never tried any of their food before!). Fortunately they did a great job. Their decorating skills are quite clearly top notch, as seen by the photo of my cake. They also did a great flavor wise making a gluten free vanilla cake with strawberry frosting. My mother in law picked it up the day before the shower and it still tasted fresh. All the cake was eaten before the end of the party, so I know even my gluten eating guests enjoy it. During this time where we are supposed to be extra careful, it's a little surprising that this would be sent without a bag. A loose box could attract bugs etc. - just odd. As for the the pie, I didn't get the report back from them yet but the bakery seems good from the other reviews - just be wary if you are getting delivery! I LOVE desserts and I'm always craving for something sweet. I actually found this bakery when I searched for "dessert delivery". I mean what's better than having dessert delivered to you when you are at work? When I saw they had rainbow cookie cupcakes, I just KNEW I had hit the jackpot. They have quite a selection of cupcakes, donuts, cookies, whole cakes... you name it! They even have gluten free and vegan options, which is wonderful b/c we need more GF and vegan options when it comes to desserts. The one thing I was concerned about was the packaging. I was ordering through doordash, and I know the drivers aren't going to handle my cupcakes with the gentleness I would. Desserts don't usually travel well and what a waste of a cupcake if I can't take a picture and show it off. When I received my order however, I was pleasantly surprised. Sweet Karma has the best packaging for cupcakes ~ see my photos. Each cupcake was put in a cupcake holder type of container. That way, they don't move and 1/2 the icing isn't ruined. The same with their donuts. Definitely a plus here! I never been to the actual store so I can't speak on their customer service but I'll definitely make it there one day. Was looking for a special place that could do exactly what I wanted. Friendly staff, last minute order and they were able to accommodate my request and came up with a fantastic cake- an exact copy of a cake that I sent them if not better. Red velvet sponge was perfectly layered and had good flavor, the only thing I did not like was the icing on the outside, I might just choose something else next time, but it was not really a big deal. The staff did explain those ran out quick after a recent Facebook post and that's A-OK! So we decided to instead get a few other items. I had the cookie dough cupcake. The frosting was...Fine. The cupcake itself was dry. I then tried the creme brulee cheesecake. Again, it was...Fine. But it was nothing to write home about. They did have a lot of business and you could tell a lot were regulars based on how the staff showed favoritism. It's fine once you know repeat customers, however, don't blatantly ignore a new customer you were just speaking with to go speak with someone who visits all the time. My husbands birthday was coming up and I wanted to incorporate his favorite things on the cake. Had to wait over an hour to eat it. The whipped cream on top was ruined by being frozen. Very disappointing! - peanut butter mousse: nicely flavored. Not too sweet or overpowering. Fantastic! - salted popcorn macaron: eh. No flavor like advertised. More just a sweet caramel flavor. - churro macaron: very good flavor but way too sweet. - rainbow cookie cannoli: not a fan. Too big. Not enough cream. Fell apart quickly. - rainbow cookie with jelly: not a fan either. Not enough jelly. Cake was too thick. Fell apart. Other things to note: - nothing was labeled so I had to ask for someone to tell me what everything was - everything was really cold or, like the key lime dream, completely frozen. I can't even begin to express my gratitude to this bakery!! I had been looking for a custom gluten free cake to celebrate my 60th birthday for weeks! I was having a 70's themed party. I couldn't believe the prices I was being quoted....Insane!! I originally wanted a fondant cake because I thought that would be the only way I could get my theme in. None of the places I called gave me options. The quotes started at $700!! And I called bakeries from all boroughs! When I called Sweet Karma I was about to give up and try to make my own cake!! Spoke to Brian and he had me send him pics of my ideas. He gave me options to reduce the cost (the full fondunt was in the $500 range) still lower than I was being quoted. He said I could go with one layer in butter cream and one layer in fondunt. Then he said he could use the colors I wanted and make me the cake in butter cream! So I went with that and the results were OUTSTANDING! Better than I could've imagined as you can see! Did I mention it was RED VELVET and CHOCOLATE CHIP CANOLLI!! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll let these pictures speak for themselves. I sent Brian of Sweet Karma a picture of the cake I wanted to have made. The picture with the "A" on top is the picture I sent to Brian, who assured me he could do it. The picture with "Hailey" is the cake that Brian of Sweet Karma actually prepared. When I complained about the appearance of the cake and asked for it to be fixed, Brian and his wife Jen were nasty to me. They told me that I was lucky that they even sent me a picture of the cake in the first place because "they didn't have to do that". They told me that I shouldn't be concerned with the appearance of a cake when a pandemic was going on (as if the pandemic gave them license to do low quality work). I'll be the first to admit that in my disappointment and frustration I wasn't very nice in response to their attitude. As a result, Brian refused to give me the cake AT ALL, leaving me stranded an hour before the party (in the middle of quarantine when nothing else was open) with NO CAKE for a very special friend's birthday. I was shocked at the poor quality of the cake and the way I was treated since I had heard good things about Sweet Karma. After reading all of the other Yelp reviews, the consensus seems to be that if you work with Theresa, she does beautiful work and is a pleasure. But if you get stuck with Brian, BEWARE. Apparently, I'm not the first person to whom he refused to give a cake! One woman had to call the police to get her cake! read more
