Great service and great food! We had a large group and the waitress took care of us masterfully! She was on top of everything from setting the expectations (drinks first, then appetizers, then the meals). She knew how to handle a large table. The kitchen did too. Cocktails were pretty good. I started with a pumpkin espresso martini which was great, although the pumpkin was lacking a bit. The margarita was also good, as was the old fashioned. I was mixing it up literally! For appetizers, the pierogis were a great choice, but that pork belly was the winner! That was so good and perfectly crispy with no chewy fatty bits. Great choices! That Yinzer Salad was awesome. I love fries on a salad and it was pretty good with the grilled chicken instead of the shaved steak. I loved chicken since I started eating these things at King's (RIP). Some others had the steak and wow, it was a nice thick cut and they were cooked perfectly! Usually steak at a place like this is a pass, but I'd think about it if I returned! It's in close proximity to PNC Park and Heinz Field (it will always be called this, sorry acrimonious) and we walked from a nearby hotel. I had high hopes for this place, especially with its modern and stylish interior. Unfortunately, it ended up being a bit of a letdown. The service was slow, and our server seemed like they were having a rough day. As the place got busier, our food and drinks took quite a while to arrive. On the bright side, my Hugo Spritz was solid, and my husband enjoyed his Old Fashioned. The beer list was a nice surprise--plenty of unique options you don't see everywhere. We tried the hen of the woods "chicken" nuggets, which were just okay, and the burger, which was decent. The mac and cheese, however, was a disappointment. It was not very cheesy and lacking flavor. We came in for a late lunch. Abigail was our server. She was fantastic! Bulgogi Pork Belly & Brussels 10/10 Cooked well. Sauce was really good. Korean BBQ sandwich 9/10 The sauce was really good, little bit sweet. A small drizzle of a spicy flavored aioli or sauce would be really good addition to this to cut the sweetness a tad. Side Caesar salad 6/10 Not really a true Caesar salad. It was just lettuce with some shaved Parmesan and the house Caesar dressing. Stopped in for a bite before a concert at Stage AE with my son. Seated quickly by a friendly host. It's an attractive spot in the North Shore area. Drink and food orders taken quickly by our server, who brought me a delicious IPA of her choice. The food came out after a bit...it was rather busy there. My son had the chicken chimichangas and some pierogi...I got the pork brussel sprouts and a cheeseburger. The food was okay...but my brussels were a bit underdone and while the cheeseburger was fine, the accompanying French fries weren't good. My son was satisfied with his food...it was "okay". I was recently here for a group event, and it was a Monday evening, so that heavily influence my review. I can only imagine what it would be like here on a weekend or on game day - I wouldn't ever imagine trying to come for those kinds of crows. Being near the stadiums, I'm sure you can't even get a seat here. But for my visit, I really enjoyed the experience. Our group was seated in a side room next to the bar. There were very few people to begin with, but it was nice to have a space all to ourself. There were views of the rivers, and I bet on nice spring and summer evenings, it's a great spot to be. Our meal was catered, and I was smitten with the brussels sprouts. I know, I know, definitely a weird choice, but they were delicious! My memory escapes me now as to what I ordered for a cocktail, but it was enjoyable and I ordered a second so it was definitely good. The staff were very friendly and service was quick (remember I was here on a monday in March when sports seasons are over...) The decor was very rustic and made for a very warm and relaxed feeling which was superb. Once we tracked down our waitress, our table mostly opted for brunch--3 eggs Benedict, the cheesiest cheese omelet any of us had ever seen, and the pulled pork. The Foundry is a great place for drinks & bar food. Upon entering, you are greeted with a bar. It looks empty when you enter, but there's lots of rooms and the main bar is in the back! It was relatively packed when we arrived on a Friday night. The service was impeccable, and our waitress was very attentive. We were a part of a 10 party group, and everything went smoothly! My breakfast wasn't what I expected (and wasn't what was described on the menu). The menu said the bagel sandwich was supposed to have a Brussels pesto sauce but there was no pesto. The sauce instead was a sweet masala with mild Indian flavors. I wouldn't have ordered this had I known. The flavor was really not to my liking and the sandwich lacked quality. On top of this, I ordered a pineapple juice and when the server asked if I wanted another I made the mistake of not asking if I would be charged for another juice. OMG. So Pittsburgh is a massively underrated foodie town. I found this out the easy way! I stayed on the north shore, and there were sooo many places within walking distance to our hotel. My daughter and I had dinner at the Foundry before the Taylor Swift concert. We KNEW every place in North Shore was going to be slammed and prepared ourselves for long waits and less than stellar service. We were shocked when this wasn't the case. While we did wait in a long queue for a table, once we were seated, the waitress was fast on her feet. The food was served quickly. Everything tasted great. Once seated , we all ordered the following : appetizers - crab dip ( the purée dip wasnt great and didn't have a ton of taste), meat and cheese ( simple, a bit underwhelming), and the Brussels sprouts ( DELICIOUS). Entrees included: short ribs, salmon, vegetable haluski, and chicken pot pie. Pictures are included for almost all of the food items. The entrees were absolutely wonderful except for the short ribs . The meat was what seemed fatty and tough. The dish was super small for being over $30 but should it have been delicious then the cost wouldn't matter. We did mention it to the server and she was wonderful about it. Sometimes dishes arnt perfect , but this did not take away from the great experience and other enjoyable foot items. I made reservations in advance since we had a show at Stage AE. For those instances, it's the perfect spot! It's right across the street and there is a large parking lot behind Tequila Cowboy (also right across the street) so parking is very accessible for both dinner and a show. Service was very good, she was attentive and I have zero complaints there. We weren't drinking so I have no comment on drinks. Food...we ordered the chicken pot pie and the kielbasa sandwich to split. The chicken pot pie was VERY rosemary-forward. There was lots of the sauce but not much in the dish! It seemed empty...The puff pastry was nice and there were chunks of chicken, instead of the normal shredded you get in a pot pie, but it was not seasoned at all. This dish needed so many more elements to make it good enough to order again. More vegetables and chicken that was seasoned itself would have gone a long way. It was fine enough to eat but not $23 worthy in my opinion and I wouldn't tell anyone to order it quite frankly. The kielbasa sandwich was very mediocre. The food was good, but each item had its issues. The piece of salmon was small considering it was called a Salmon BLT, and the chicken sandwich was a bit over done as I felt it was dry. She also didn't push us out after we finished our meal. She even refilled our drinks after our bill had long been settled. You won't experience the best service from the bussing staff; 9/10 they'll be on their phone just chilling at the front entrance which is typically empty but the wait staff and bartenders in the back have always been great for me. I love going during Steelers season for brunch and I recently reserved a table for 8 for a post Pittsburgh half-marathon brunch. Yes you can make a group of 8 or less reservation The food here can be really good and on par pricing wise with what you would expect to pay in a larger city in a condensed bar area. It's not to say it's expensive but it ain't cheap. The chicken and waffles is dope. @thefoundry I vote veto-ing the cheese - it makes no sense. But the sweet chili sauce on the chicken is amazing, the chicken was soooo tender and delicious and the waffle and potatoes were great. Other honourable mentions include the polish hash and I really want to try the short rib Benedict one of these days (saw someone else's at another table and it looked good). Had dinner here with a gal friend on a Saturday night. We made reservations, sat at a high top near the bar. Nice atmosphere with Christmas trees all lit up. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. The menu isn't extensive but was just right with multiple options I would have chosen. I decided on meatloaf with asparagus and whipped potatoes. Listen, I NEVER order meatloaf because mine is excellent and usually meatloaf in a restaurant is orange. Well, I'm here to say it was one of the best meals I recall having anywhere. Very pleasing to the eye and not your average meatloaf by any standard. I would order again for certain. They even had 2 different Rieslings on the menu. Made my day. Prices were fair, too. She was too concerned with the service bar drinks to wait on the people that were sitting at the bar. We walked out without being acknowledged and went somewhere else. We told the host who was sitting at the host stand playing on her phone that they should get the bartender help and she said that they didnt expect to be that busy. The berry balsamic dressing was tasty and complimented the goat cheese. The pesto pasta seemed to be drowning in oil. Not our favorite. Our server forgot one of our cocktails, but by the time she came back, we had received our food and it was too late. An absolutely gorgeous place for brunch! Their patio is spacious and comfortable and overlooks the water. We really enjoyed sitting in the sunshine and people watching. The mimosas were strong and you could definitely tell it was the good Prosecco and fresh orange juice. I also got another cocktail (the name escapes me) and it was refreshing and perfect for brunch. We got the Yukon pierogies as an appetizer. These things just melted in your mouth, I could've eaten 10 more. My entree was the grilled cheese which has apple butter on it. I was a little unsure about it but figured why not? The apple butter perfectly complimented the cheese and incredible bread they used. The fries were crispy and perfect, not greasy. We had a wonderful experience tonight here. It's December 30th so the North Shore is very quiet and the restaurant was mostly empty compared to the summer and fall with the Pirates and Steelers in town. The decor is very warm and inviting and once your sat in the dining area you have a gorgeous view of the point, downtown and the Allegheny River merging into the Ohio. We ordered drinks first and I had a great IPA while my wife ordered a Cherry Mule which I tried and it was great with very little alcohol flavor but strong at the same time. For appetizers we ordered the General Tso's cauliflower and the poutine of the day was chicken and chicken gravy over fries with cheese curds. I'm not a fan of cauliflower but that appetizer was tasty and kept me coming back. The poutine was ok, the cheese curds and fries were on point but I don't think chicken when I think poutine. On a plus note it was seasoned well. For dinner I ordered the swordfish with butter soaked breadcrumbs on top of ratatouille. This was the best swordfish I've ever had and the breadcrumbs on top were perfect and the ratatouille was a perfect compliment to the fish. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich which had two huge chicken breasts in it. She actually ate one breast alone and then the sandwich. She said the chicken was cooked perfectly and the sweet/spicy peppers were delicious and the pickles were actually from the jar homemade pickles. I great spot for a meal before or after a game at Heinz Field. The menu is small. I wish they would expand. I had a burger. It was cooked properly. The atmosphere is calmer than other places near by. The management does a good job managing the crowd and limiting the patrons ... even around the bar area. Good to consider if you are looking to hear your conversation with your friends and family, Also, I really like how you can book a table in advance via OpenTable. A very nice option during game day where you can expect long waits otherwise. This one feature alone always puts this place in the running. read more
