As we walked into the restaurant the vibe is very casual got sat quickly to a small booth. I sat down, noticed that the booth was not bolted down and moved as I sat. Staff here are very new like this is their first job ever. Lack of knowledge and professionalism. I had a lemon drop martini drink which was straight vodka with a drop of lemon, asked if they did smoked old fashions server was not aware and we answered the question ourselves with a look over at the bar, husband ended up going with a soda as my he didn't feel like an old fashion would come out the way he would want even if not smoked. Stuffed mushrooms for an app both my husband and I thought they tasted like pizza. The amount of ground sausage in the stuffing was too much. Main meal I ordered the 8oz wagyu fillet with herb garlic butter and shrimp Bennett, salad bar and asiago bruschetta asparagus. My husband ordered The Forge Classic Burger. I don't understand the salad bar at a "upscale" steak house but I love a salad bar and was ready to indulge, as I walked up I was quickly disappointed. For a place having a salad bar there are minimal options. There is no thought to what should be on a salad bar, ultimately it seems cheap like they are using whatever is left in the kitchen to not get thrown out. Husband had a Cesar salad which was dry. Burger and steak came out, steak looked strange from the beginning I question if it is actually wagyu. It was missing the herb garlic butter. I asked the server where the butter was and she was super nice apologized and came out with a ramekin with the cold butter. I added the butter to the steak and it was not going to melt my husband then flagged the server and asked for the steak to be sent back so the butter would melt as that is how it should be coming out in the first place. The steak comes back now little too cooked for my liking but whatever the thing that really annoyed or gave us a disappointed feeling is that the steak was not presented correctly and when we asked for the butter and the steak was sent back it should have returned with a manager to make sure we were still happy and apologize for the mishap. Stuffed mushrooms claim they are Monterrey jack cheese stuffed with jalapeño and bacon the only thing I had was an over cooked bacon wrapped shrimp with a layer of sweet sauce covering it no jalapeño and if there was cheese I didn't taste or see any. Asparagus was little crunchy for my liking and just seemed blah. Over all I paid $103 for a dressed up steak that was extremely disappointing which I didn't even finish it. Husbands burger with fries, he didn't care for the tallow fries I thought the crunch was nice but I like crunchy fries, burger was very basic. No flavor expect for the sauce and we swear it was most likely a frozen meat patty. Both my husband and I have been to many steak houses in the surrounding area and across the country and this place is no where near what they claim or what the goal is presented to the community. If this place is wanting to be an Eddie V's, Perry's or STK they are far from it. I will bet this place will remain open and continue to receive customers but due to lack of customer knowledge of what an actual quality elegant steakhouse is suppose to be and feel like eating at. We will not be going back as there are too many things that are wrong with this place for me to justify the price tag for a meal. Ultimately I felt bamboozled by this place. Okay, first off- no pics because we dug right in and enjoyed. EVERY. BITE. Started with a chocolate martini because dessert drink first. Then stuffed mushrooms. Huge and quite tasty. My wife had their amazing beef tallow fries so she had those for an appetizer. Best fries we've ever had! For the entree, I had the Shrimp Bennett. Huge 6 shrimp wrapped in bacon on a bed of long grain rice. The side of cream corn was a generous and was sooo good. My wife had the ribeye with tallow butter - melt in your mouth and the side of creamed spinach. One of the best meals we've ever had. All dinners come with a trip to the salad bar which had a good variety. Could even have salads like macaroni or a smoky bacon potato salad. Very nice to have more than just a standard side salad with your meal. Big kudos to Chef Joey! And our server, Jordan was so attentive, sweet, and gave us amazing service. Pros: - Friendly staff - French onion soup was great! - Loaded baked potato was good although not served hot - Onion rings were decent - Salad was fine Cons: - The plates and bowls were all too small. It was very strange. Almost like everything was served on salad plates. That being said, our salads were generous but barely fit on the plates, which were the size of dessert plates. Same goes for our dinners. I know that doesn't seem very important, but with everything crammed onto such small plates, it made it hard to eat. Food was falling on to the table. It felt very messy. - The tables were big but for four people, each person had to straddle the legs. Terrible design. I looked around and people were either straddling or sitting sideways. - Pecan crusted chicken wasn't great. Bland and had a burnt taste. The 20 oz ribeye was fine. Not great and definitely not worth $70. - The lights kept flickering the entire time. I know it's an old building but it was annoying, quite frankly. Overall, I would try burgers for lunch but would probably pass on dinner. The ambiance and food are not as elevated as the prices would suggest. Service was excellent. However, with only About 6 or 7 table occupied, easy to dote on customers. Ambiance was nice, except the lights kept flickering, which was both distracting and possibly dangerous if a customer was prone to epilepsy. Food was meh. My ribeye was a poor cut: overly fatty and grisly for a steakhouse. I've had better at Outback or Texas Roadhouse. My wife's bacon wrapped shrimp entree had good flavor, but the shells had not been removed under the bacon wrap. Three of us dined at this restaurant on December 15, 2024. When we returned home, my husband was looking at our check. We had been charged for 4 meals. We didn't have 4 meals as there were 3 of us. My husband called the restaurant on the 16th of December and was assured by the manager that a refund would appear on our credit card. It is now February 4, 2025. The money has not been refunded. The price of the meal for which we were charged was expensive. We would warn you to carefully check your dinner tab before you pay. Do not come here. We were so excited to try out this new place and have been waiting for months. We decided to visit for our anniversary date, but as we were getting ready to order, they played music where the F bomb was every third word "f this... f you.." over and over. Even the servers were singing along to the song! When we finally said to cancel our order and we were leaving, they acted shocked and had no idea that the song was playing. Will NEVER EVER be back! Went here recently with a large party of friends (8 of us)! My filet, topped with tallow butter was legit...cooked exactly as ordered! The salad bar was fresh, and was included as part of my steak order! We sampled some of each other's sides...my green beans, tallow fries were all good! The house salad is more like a Cesar salad so I tasted no blue cheese dressing and I got a half of one cherry tomato. We complained to the owner,he only apologized and said he would tell the kitchen, but did nothing finally when somebody other than our waitress bought the bill over, and I'm thinking our waitress didn't want to have another confrontation about the potatoes, We told her that our baked potatoes were not cooked. She said she would do an adjustment, a whopping four dollars ! My goodness couldn't they do better than that no other side dish was offered. Disappointed to say the least, we aren't coming back! However, coming from living in Highland Park for over 20 years where the BEST steak houses are...we wanted to give it a try since we now live in Prosper. Salad bar was fresh but limited, appetizer was fantastic (had the jam Brie ). Now..on to the steak. Wasn't bad , wasn't great, for a 6oz filet which cost $48 it was marginal. I will pay that at Bobs steakhouse but this steak was about as bland as a steak that should only cost around $25 . The sweet potato sounded delicious on the menu but very bland and dry. Ate here for my birthday a couple weeks ago as I had been wanting to give it a shot being a local steakhouse which is something we lacked in Celina. It was a Monday night so wasn't super busy but the servers were very nice and the food was fantastic. We ordered the crab cake to start and the butter sauce it sad in was phenomenal. I ordered the 6 oz filet cooked medium rare and it came out perfectly with great flavor. The Mac and cheese was one of the best restaurant mac and cheese I have personally had as it had a truly homemade flavor. The mashed potato's also had a more homemade flavor than many other steakhouses. Price was no more expensive than other steakhouses and to have this one local was great. If you are looking for a Dee Lincoln's, Eddie V's, 3 Forks, etc. atmosphere,m and service then you will need to go somewhere else. If you are looking for a local business in what will not be a small town much longer, this is a great spot. It's unfortunate some of the reviews talk about overcooked food, so hopefully the chef that worked those nights can be replaced to improve those experiences! read more

We did not enjoy our evening at The forge. Of four meals ordered 2 were overcooked and sent back. Then when these two meals were recooked, the steak was undercooked and had to be cooked again. The asparagus was cold and undercooked. The salad overflowed the tiny plates and fell on the table. The Moouse was powdery and poorly mixed, not made from scratch. The crème brulet was undercooked. The bright spot was the creamed spinach which should be under appetizer section, not sides. The service was sloooow, which was surprising with only 4 tables filled. Waiter did not refill water and never asked about the meals. The manager came over after meals were served and had to take food back to kitchen. She apologized as there was not a chef working, only line cooks- A Huge Shock for a 'steakhouse'! The ambiance was bright and the decor was more like a BBQ restaurant not a 'steakhouse'. I had a hard time deciding if I should leave a review. I want the very best for this place. I've gone 4 times. The first 2 times were when they opened, our steaks were over cooked (so disappointing) and my butter came out 10 minutes after I received my streak. Half of our table received their food and the other half got their food like 15 minutes later because 1/2 of our food went to the wrong table. It was a big bill for the experience. The service definitely does not match the pricing. Also, the last 2 times we all ordered burgers to play it safe. This is a great place for a burger! We will continue going for the burgers and sandwiches. I hope they work on customer service and pricing. Prices to match venue. I will hold back on posting more because I want this place to have the opportunity to make changes. They need to hire more experienced managers & employees that are on it!! If i could give this place 0 stars i would. Waited 1 1/2 for our food and it finally came out, COLD. Steaks were over cooked for the whole table. Service was terrible and on top of that they charge 20% gratuity for a party 6 or larger. Never received refills and food came out one dish at a time. I was excited to find this restaurant, I liked that they used quality meats like pasture raised chicken and tallow for frying. The decor was kinda meh, a little too rustic for the price point, but I was willing to overlook that. The server was very nice and helpful. We ordered steak and chicken. And it really was just a slab of steak and a slab of chicken. There was no sauce or seasoning whatsoever on the steak, usually there's some garlic butter or even black pepper right, but there was nothing, just an overcooked steak that was bone dry when you cut into it. The chicken was even worse, there were some decorative flakes of seasoning (didn't taste like anything) and it was dry as napkins. I was just shocked by the complete lack of seasoning and moisture. The only thing that tasted good were the fries, they were nice and crispy. I would love for this restaurant to do some kind of overhaul on the recipes. I like flavor, I'm not someone who wants super heavy super salty seasoning, but NO seasoning is simply too far. I like the idea of the restaurant, just not the execution. Went in to sit at the bar for a couple of drinks, sat at a high top table. There were 3 or 4 people working the bar, they looked over at us a few times, no one ever came over to take a drink order. We sat there for about 10 minutes and then got up and left. Definitely will not be back. read more

One of our favorite places! My kids love the Texas popcorn. My husband loves their ribeye and pork chop. I love the chicken Caesar salad and French onion soup. We all love their Mac & cheese! I can't remember the name of our server. She was incredibly sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. We have followed the preparation of this restaurant and were very excited to try The Forge! Sadly we were disappointed overall! :( My husband, 2 boys and parents went for an early dinner. Service was good and we didn't wait at all. The spinach dip was very tasty however the bread served with it was toasted way too much and hard as a rock. I spooned dip on a piece, let it sit and still couldn't cut it with my steak knife. My 77 yr old mother could not even attempt to eat them. The TX popcorn was very good and later we wished it was a dinner menu item. Most of us had the salad bar and we all wished there were more choices on it. It was pretty plain. And signs to tell us what the 3 salads were would have been helpful - the carrot salad was obvious, the other 2 not so much. As it turned out the bread pieces on the salad bar worked much better with the spinach dip and should be considered to replace the hard burnt bread pieces! I LOVE french onion soup - however I had a very hard time finding much soup here. I appreciate having plenty of onions, cheese and bread but they should complement the broth not keep me from it! My husband, dad and older son all had steak and enjoyed the flavor and they were cooked as requested. We sent my husband's mac and cheese side dish back because it was full of grease and not edible. The waitress apologized, but for the price of the meals, I really thought someone from the kitchen or management would come talk to us about it. Nope! My mom ordered a salad with grilled chicken. The salad consisted mostly of the lettuce ends - which she picked out - and the chicken came on a side plate in large pieces leaving my elderly mom to cut up chicken to put in her salad (she doesn't want help especially in public!). It's the most basic dish and she was not thrilled at all with it. Finally desert - peach cobbler that didn't even have ice cream! Our dinner wasn't cheap but we left saying we could have had a better meal for a lot less at several other restaurants. We really wanted to love this new local place.
