I have heard such great opinions of the flying biscuit and choose to go to this location as I know they have multiple. We were a party of 6 and we arrived around 11 on Friday and there wasn't a wait and we got seated right away. The server can over and took our drink order. I ordered the hot chocolate. When he brought the drinks out, the hot chocolate didn't have whip cream on it, which it didn't say it had whip cream on the menu, but for some reason I was expecting it. When I drank the hot chocolate, it was like warm, so I didn't enjoy it as it got cold quickly. I ordered the chorizo hash,which sounded amazing from the description on the menu, and I ordered a side of gravy. Others in my party ordered the hot dirty bird and the free bird. When the food came out, it was slightly disappointing as a lot of items were lukewarm or cold. The gravy was cold and that took away from the enjoyment of the dishes. We did let the server know about the gravy being cold and he took the two dishes back and apologized and made news ones which came out warm and I appreciate the customer service of that. It wasn't as enjoyable as I was expecting, but maybe it was an off day. I would want to go and try another location to compare. read more

A solid choice for breakfast in ATL! Location and Parking Located at the intersection of Collier Rd and Howell Mill Rd, parking is plentiful and free. Venue and Atmosphere Plenty of seating is available inside the colorful and whimsically painted dinging room, but the air conditioning was very cold so we opted to sit outside on the patio. There's not much of a view (it's just facing the parking lot), but if you want some fresh air it gets the job done. Bathrooms are clean. Service Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Food and Beverages The piedmont omelette with extra cheese was delicious, and the creamy dreamy grits lived up to their name. The Nashville hot chicken biscuit was seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of heat. I would not recommend the french toast; the bread was plain wheat bread, and was a bit soggy and lacked significant flavor. My husband went with eggs over easy, and the yolks were delightfully runny, exactly how he likes them. Our son had scrambled eggs, which were fluffy. The restaurant is simple and straightforward, it reminds me of a diner. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. I wanted sweet and savory so instead of ordering two separate dishes she recommended that I order a side of peaches to accompany my chicken and waffles. I also ordered hot chocolate which was so rich. The chicken was flavorful and juicy and the waffle was nice and soft. Overall it was a great experience. This was the worst breakfast I've ever had! My mom ordered the stuffed strawberry French toast. It was dry and barely had anything inside. The grits were so salty there was no possible way to redeem them. I had two eggs bacon and sausage with French toast. The sausage was a small hard disc that was awful. The grits again were salty and not edible. The French toast was just whole wheat bread made to look like French toast by sprinkling powder sugar on top. Came 45 minutes before they were closing and I was asked not to sit at the bar because that had "already been closed", even though there was a customer eating at the bar. The French Toast was made on whole wheat bread & to me, it was dipped in a weak batter of just egg no cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla etc. I am a French Toast connoisseur & these were horrible. The grits were very creamy just how I like, my eggs scrambled hard & my cheese folded inside, the sausage was good. I ended up getting pancakes, which were regular. My friend enjoyed the Oh My Grits Bowl, with turkey sausage, salmon, and shrimp with egg white, it looked delish. Customer service: GREAT! Jazzmin was as sweet as can be! She was very familiar with the menu, knowledgeable about the options and a delight to our brunch time. I have ALOT of allergies and Jazzmin happily explained what food had anything that I am allergic to and I based my decision on her suggestions. I had the pancake tacos and they were delicious!! I asked for turkey bacon but pork bacon was placed on top of chicken sausage and I asked for no cheese in my eggs but somehow got it anyway. Biscuit was def under cooked and doughy with no flavor. Breakfast is quite literally my favorite meal of the day and this food was AWESOME. I took some friends from out of town here for our first time and I was pleasantly surprised. All I knew about Flying Biscuit was that it's a chain, but it doesn't feel that way on the inside. The decor inside us bright and colorful and feels homey and our server was so attentive and constantly making sure we had what we needed. I had their stuffed French toast option that came with eggs, grits, sausage, and a biscuit and loved it. The French toast is so warm and creamy inside and the sauces that come with it pair perfectly. I typically don't like grits at restaurants because they can tend to come out either congealed or totally flavorless but these were great!! They had the perfect consistency and were very well flavored. They also reheated well later on because I wasn't able to finish everything. It was so much food for a great price! I also loved their sausage because it's a chicken sausage rather than your typical pork sausage. Much better texture and flavor! I wish they had just a little more space because the tables did feel slightly cramped, but you gotta work with what you've got in Atlanta. I used to love this location, especially before it moved to its current location. But now... I think I have to give up on it. The service and food quality at this location has plummeted. For example, I placed my order online before leaving the house. Even if I arrive 20 to 30 minutes after I place my order, my food is not ready. This is during non-peak hours. The servers are very nonchalant. They address you when they would like to. Sometimes just ignore you. And it is very rude. During my last visit, my order was made incorrectly. When I tried to tell the server, she literally walked away for me. She helped other customers. She walked around me. Only when I asked for a manager did she asked me what I need. Not only was the service bad, the food was bad. I'm not sure what they are doing to the grits recipe but it is not what it used to be. This plus the fact that their restaurant inspection score has been questionable... I think I am officially done. I'm really going to miss it. Hope they get it together. read more

I've been to Flying Biscuit Cafe before, but another location. The time I went before I wasn't going to be healthy so I ate whatever and it was really good. We were looking for a relax Sunday brunch spot, and since we hadn't been to Flying Biscuit Cafe in awhile, we decided to go. When we got there it was about a 20 min wait which wasn't too bad. I expected a wait since it was Sunday and a lot of people do brunch on Sundays. When we were seated our waitress was pretty prompt in getting our order. I pretty much already knew what I wanted as I had looked at the menu prior to getting to the restaurant. My sister unfortunately made a quick choice and settled on something. I got the high flyer which came with chicken sausage (I asked for none, but still got them) I got turkey bacon instead (which they did put), I got wheat toast instead of the biscuit, eggs (I had egg whites with cheese),and the oatmeal pancakes with the peach compote. It comes with grits, but I opted out of them. I had an expectation for the pancakes as I've had a friend make oatmeal banana pancakes before that were really good. These pancakes were just ok. They weren't all that, and the peach compote wasn't all that good either. It seemed like they used canned peaches and made a symboled syrup. Although I didn't want the sausage, I decided to try it since I actually never had and it tasted like regular sausage links but just chicken instead. I'm not really a fan of sausage links or patty's, but I ate them lol. All in all, it was just an average meal for me. Nothing stood out and was great. My sister also didn't enjoy her meal and was very underwhelmed. She did say the grits were really good though. Feeling like Shrimp and Grits today. The Flying Biscuit shrimp and Grits dish is very filling and full of flavors. The shrimps are cooked just perfect, and the sauce was amazing. I'm newer to Atlanta and have been looking for a breakfast / brunch spot that sells biscuits and gravy as I'm tired of chicken and waffles or lamb chops. I was recommended to go to Flying Biscuit Midtown. When I looked up the address I seen the Howell Mill location was closer to my house so I decided why not. Maybe there some consistency between the two locations. The waitress was very nice and attentive BUT THE BISCUITS & GRAVY WERE VERY BLAND!! I was completely PERPLEXED as the gravy looked flavorful but I didn't smell any seasoning!! I proceeded to take about 3 bites before coming to the realization that I made a grave mistake coming to this location. It's a good thing I ordered the potatoes and Thank God for ketchup since those had minimal seasoning on them as well my goodness. I paid the check and immediately left to go home to make a bowl of cereal. Idk if the cooks were having an off day or if they just don't know what they are doing back there in the kitchen but I WILL NOT be back to this location nor recommend it. If times are that hard that you can't utilize some seasoning, just close down this location. I should've went to the Flying Biscuit Midtown location as recommended haha smh now I'm still craving biscuits and gravy and will end up making them homemade this weekend if I don't decide to give the Midtown location a chance. I've heard from more than one source that they get busy on the weekends but we just so happened to get here after the crowd on a Saturday (at least it wasn't Sunday!) This was a good spot for us in Atlanta on our way to Florida. We called ahead to find out what their situation was ... and unfortunately, they don't take reservations. They also don't do " call ahead " . On the phone they did say the wait would be about 20 to 30 minutes. Since they are literally across the street from my nephew's we decided to walk on ahead. The receptionist was nice. They ended up seating us almost immediately. My kiddo liked his eggs Benedict. He did say he'd had better hollandaise but really liked this one as well. (I make a killer eggs Benedict when the mood strikes & when the super expensive amazing hollandaise mix is available :-) I think I might have had the best grits I've ever had. These were quite good and I ate them all. But in all honesty I have not had grits very often so that might not be saying much. I'm a northern girl ... Midwestern really ... so grits just aren't very prevalent in those parts. Definitely give the grits and biscuits a try as they are really good. We were in town for work this past week which had been very tiresome and exhausting. Earlier in the week, we had checked out a few different breakfast/brunch joints, but none of them compare to this place! Every employee that walked by us at the front door genuinely greeted us with beautiful smiles. We were quick to be sat at a table and Alvin was our phenomenal waiter! He was excellent with helping us make our executive decision with food and even drinks. I'm also nervous anytime a waiter does not write down orders, specifically those that have side requests, but he crushed it with confidence. I would now like to breakdown the breakfast dish that I wanted to motorboat the second it was placed in front of me. I ordered the chorizo hash and it rocked my world, but even their biscuit was mouthwatering. It seems like they sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on the outside of the biscuit because it has a wonderful sweet balance. I physically tried so hard to fit my co-workers leftover biscuit because it made me sad to leave it behind. I was literally busting out of my dress pants like a can of biscuits but everything was so hard to say no to when it's so delicious!
