I chose The Floor Store for both flooring and countertop projects because of the positive reputation they have built in the Valley. Unfortunately, my experience did not match that reputation. The projects themselves had issues, but the bigger problem was the communication, lack of follow-through, and lack of accountability when those issues came up. To be clear, I understand that mistakes happen. Materials can be delayed. Defects can occur. Schedules can change. That is part of any home improvement project. What matters is how a company communicates, takes ownership, and helps the customer through those issues. That is where The Floor Store fell short in my experience. My carpet project started with a material shortage that left part of the installation unfinished while more carpet had to be ordered. That shortage also appears to have contributed to seams being placed in areas where they may have been avoidable if enough material had been ordered correctly from the beginning. The countertop project then brought a separate set of problems when a defect was identified and a replacement became necessary. Again, issues happen. But throughout both projects, I repeatedly had to chase down updates, ask for status information, and coordinate details that I believe should have been proactively handled by the company. The most frustrating part was the breakdown in communication between scheduling, installers, contractors, and management. Follow-ups that were promised did not happen. Schedules changed without proper notice. At several points, I felt like I was doing the work of the project coordinator just to keep things moving. What concerns me most is what happened after the projects were completed. At management's request, I took the time to provide a detailed written summary of my experience and concerns. I sent that on July 25. Weeks went by with no acknowledgment or response. I followed up again on August 11 and still received no meaningful communication. I also attempted to escalate the issue again before posting this review. That lack of response reinforced the exact concerns I had already raised about communication, follow-through, and accountability. I spent more than $20,000 with this company and expected a much higher level of customer service and project management. While the final products may be acceptable, the process to get there was unnecessarily frustrating and disappointing. At this point, I am posting this review because all private attempts to resolve or even discuss the matter have gone unanswered. I was not looking for excuses or an argument. I was looking for acknowledgment, accountability, and an honest conversation about what went wrong. Ignoring a customer after more than $20,000 in business is not acceptable. If ownership or senior management genuinely cares about their customers, their reviews, and the reputation of this business, I would encourage them to contact me immediately. I would still prefer to resolve this directly and fairly, but that requires someone from The Floor Store to actually respond. Future customers should know that when things go wrong, communication and follow-through matter. In my case, that is where The Floor Store failed. I hope management chooses to take this seriously, because this experience has completely changed the way I view a company I originally trusted. read more

I cannot recommend the Floor Store enough! From the initial visit to their showroom, where Chris listened patiently to what I had envisioned and provided excellent advice to the end result of replacing 1600 square feet of carpet with beautiful wood laminate, the service was exceptional. Chris took the time to get to know me, what I was looking for and was patient in answering every question I threw at him while trying to make a huge decision for myself and my family. Next they came out to do thorough measurements and I followed along asking questions the entire time. Teresa was great and communicative at the scheduling piece and was able to work around the timing that was best for us. The delivery of materials was on time, as expected and allowed me to talk to the installers to ensure we had a plan for each day. When it came time for the install, I could not have been more pleased with the two man crew. They were professional, efficient and cleaned up as they went. I was looking for a certain floor that I could not find anywhere! I needed narrow planks for a kitchen island project and tried so many different avenues. I called The Floor Store and talked to Marla who called around, did her thing, and got the flooring I was looking ordered with in hours on an evening on Wednesday. I called Monday to get a possible ETA and talked to Theresa, she LMK the order was supposed to arrive the following day. It did! I received notification as soon as it did but the flooring didn't get in until after warehouse pickup was closed. I needed it fast for the project! The Floor Store completed a kitchen backsplash project at my home. This is a family-run business with a vested interest in how the business is run. As a result, the level of service is superior. I worked with a few different members of the team, all of whom were responsive, friendly, professional and helpful. They offered useful advice on selection of colors, tile and grout and clearly answered all questions about how the job would run, the amount of time it would take and the price. They came to my home and measured the space carefully and accurately. They provided a printed pricing sheet with line-item detail for all aspects of the project. Even after I changed the scope of the job slightly, The Floor Store quickly provided a new pricing sheet. The job was easy to schedule. There were no delays. The work was competed quickly, as estimated. There were no overruns or surprises on the final bill; the job and price remained as originally projected. Payment was without hassle. The workmanship was excellent, and the onsite crew was friendly and professional. They respected our property and kept the area very clean. One minor issue occurred after the job was complete and wasn't discovered until the following day; an electrical outlet was loose. The work team came the same day and inspected and re-secured all of the outlets and resolved the issue completely. I had floors, countertops, and backsplash done here. I met with Chris G., we picked everything out, he gave me samples to take home and check that it would look good, super friendly, and helpful, all good. I returned the samples and he wasn't there but there was a drawn-up estimate that was higher than I expected based on the first conversation. Turns up he rang up a higher estimate because he rang up a different floor and countertop than we discussed. He apologized for the error stating that he works with so many people he gets mixed up sometimes. We corrected the product and got another estimate. The new estimate was about 1k more than we discussed, so rather than doing stuff over the phone, I wanted to go in and see the product I was being charged for. It again was wrong. I had to visit the store 3x to be sure the correct product was being ordered. Something they don't tell you is that before the product is even ordered, they will put a lien on your house. In my situation, the lien was for 2k more than my cost. This was corrected when I brought it up. A few weeks late the product arrives and I start to schedule the installs. Here is where my opinion comes in. Chris assured me that all installers were Floor Store employees and not contractors that they hire for the work. The floors were installed perfectly. The baseboards, perfect. If you are only looking at getting floors done here, I would give 5 stars. My only, if I had to name a complaint, is they remove the toilets to install the floor around it and since they put them back, I have flushing issues and they rock back and forth on the floor. I'll get back to this in a moment. The countertops were done next. I had many issues with this. First, the counters were installed on wood, which you can see underneath. Apparently, there is no way around that. Turns out that there is, and Chris didn't tell me that I have options with the thickness of the material going. He told me that 90% of people get the same thickness of material so he assumed that for me rather than giving me an option. The removal of the backsplash left drywall damage on the kitchen walls. I brought this up and was told that this is collateral damage to the work that they do. I had to hire a contractor to come in after the fact and repair the walls and counters so that the wood underneath wouldn't show. They also removed all the plumbing from the counters but didn't put it back. When they left they said they don't do that. I called Chris immediately and he said two things; first that he deals with so many customers so he was sorry he didn't tell me that this was going to happen. Also, that they aren't licensed to do that which brings two questions- were they licensed to remove it in the first place? Were they licensed to remove and install the toilets? Are they all Floor Store employees, and not subcontracted? With this said, the countertop guys showed up in a truck that has a different name on it. They didn't speak English and had no paperwork to demonstrate the work they were to do or finished. They also showed up 5 hours late and worked from 4 pm to 10 pm. A clear demonstration that the Floor Store subcontracted out these guys. The cuts also don't align with the sink. The floor and backsplash guys wore floor store shirts and had paperwork. I have an RO system in my kitchen so when they left at 10 pm, had no drinking water or running water in the kitchen and had to hire an emergency plumber to come in the next day to install what they removed. My total cost of repairs after their work was $300. I asked and Chris refused to help with these costs. Lastly, the backsplash. The guy was super cool but long story short, he had to do it twice and it still isn't done right. He offered, but I did tell him that the imperfections were too minimal to have him come back and redo the whole thing again. Also, at that time, after 8 weeks I was over it.
