Nice place. Easy access right out of the west side's doors of mall by Macy's. Brew house Salad with steak... ordered rare... nicely cooked. Delicious salad, pear, blue cheese ... nicely dressed. Big Blat was delish. Nicely toasted bread, plenty of bacon, loved the avocado. Cheese soup is the bomb. Tasty, not "too" thick. Really great flavor... wished he'd have ordered A bowl. read more

Food and service was excellent. Just travel and wanted to try what is Milwaukee know for. I can tell the cheese is so much fresher in all dishes. Went ahead and tried the flight as I'm not a beer drinker got recommendations which didn't disappoint. We order cheese curds, cheese egg roll, wings, salad and Nashville chicken sandwich. Very tasty cheesy curd in a land of so many. A friend and I tried and enjoyed several beers. They have quite a lengthy tap list as well as cocktails. Loved the darker beers and the scotch ale. Definitely a repeat visitor! read more

Always a great time @Explorium! Beer is delish and the variety is awesome. Food was fresh and on point. Had the Sconnie cheese with grilled chicken and a buffalo wrap- very tasty! Canned beer to go is an added plus -will be back soon! read more

Regrettably and despite my best efforts, I think I'm becoming a beer snob and this place is largely to blame. Before I tried some of their beers, I would never even think of ordering a sour or an IPA, but they have an awesome array of beers, seltzers and even hard sodas that are worth trying (the hard root beer is indescribably good and I can't stand any of the store-bought competitors). Regarding the food, I get the brussel sprouts EVERY time I go, and their Cuban sandwich is another standout. While it is a brew pub, it's definitely a place you can take kids, (the grilled cheese was popular with my seven year-old). The staff is friendly and very helpful, especially when you can't decide on what beer on their "Greek diner" sized list to get. Cool decor and setting as well. read more

Cool looking place. Servers are nice. Food seems a little overpriced for what you get. Wasn't the biggest fan, but it wasn't horrible

When my cousin suggested I meet him at a mall brewery, I was like 'Nah Fam'. Not gonna happen. But I surrendered to the idea, and was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I walked into The Explorium, the mall feel drifted away. Several different types of seating including bar, short tops, tables in the bar area, and a family style section. Something for everyone. Menu on the tables and on the wall. I enjoyed a delicious house brewed scotch ale. As one is required to do when visiting Wisconsin, we ordered the cheese curds. Seriously some of the best curds I've ever had. The side of ranch made them even more awesome. The owner stopped by and cheers-ed our table. Everyone was so kind. I felt like I was in my neighborhood pub. read more

My absolute favorite place to eat in Milwaukee!! The food is absolutely incredible, and the beer is to die for. They have such an amazing selection of drink if beer isn't what you're craving. The food is unique and flavorful without being too out there. It's really a place that has an option for everyone. The service is always amazing. Pretty much always have the same waiter, Josh, and he is always so personable and ready to give recommendations. We usually order a flight and let the servers pick the beers. They take into account what we describe we like and always bring out amazing stuff. There really isn't anything I don't love about this place. Perfect food, perfect drinks, and perfect service. Plus, always great to support a local business! read more

I went again and ordered the fish and chips even though I said I wouldn't. I am glad I did. It's served on a plate now. Their beer battered cod is easily one of the best in the area. If fish isn't your thing, get the carnitas. They were also delicious. Their menu is full of creative options. This isn't run of the mill mall food. I believe their beer game has also stepped up. Great outdoor patio space and reinvention of old mall space. The e-brewpub is a solid local choice among a sea of red birds and chickens. Highlights: - very good craft beer selection. Talented brewmaster on staff and the beer reflects the talent - food is usually solid and tasty - flatbread is quite good. . - outdoor fire pit is wonderful. Opportunities: - bar staffing is sparse and slightly inattentive. It can be hard work getting a beer here! - food quality has varied across several visits All in all, this isn't solid effort and can only get better as it all feels more and more I'll be back. read more

Waited a very long time to even be seated. Waitress was not personable and couldn't give a suggestion and shared how she Doesn't like an item I asked about. I was wanting more of an in depth description and not your dislike of the flavor of truffle. Also reading the owner's answers to guest reviews on Google... they are beyond unprofessional! Who the heck is running this place? By the sounds of it not a person who can take constructive criticism and felt comfortable responding with strange, immature answers. Obviously this place has gone way downhill. Too expensive for terrible service and so so food. Not a restaurant I'll ever return to. Wow just as I thought as mentioned above you respond with unprofessional, immature answers. Let me elaborate that this was a visit made in the afternoon when you were not busy at all. Your waitress was not even close to being a good server. You may think your servers are very good but look how you respond to a customer complaint. Bad management would see bad wait staff as being just fine and dandy. You were not right beside her so you just have to accept the fact her style and inability to answer a simple question were lacking greatly. The waiting to be seated so long while you were not super busy is again poor customer service. We did get a good chuckle reading your response full of assumptions and YOUR Negativity. read more

We had appetizers that were all very tasty. Wait time was a little longer but the waitress took good care of us while we waited.

If you're going to pay 17-20$ for a burger you'd expect it not to taste like a frozen patty, be as dry and crispy as a hockey puck, and have some flavor to it. Pizza was pretty good and they did take the burger off the bill, but I sure wouldn't go here again from that experience. read more

This place is pretty solid. Definitely beer centic with a variety of tasty brews. If beer ain't your thing, they got a full bar. Nice atmosphere. Lots of large TV screens to watch the games and a decent variety of higher end pub fare ranging from pizzas and burgers, and some interesting apps. The pint of bacon is good, but almost too sweet. I would consider it a dessert. The giant pretzel looks good. I've really enjoyed their beers the few times I've been here. I like that they have beer flights and different size pours available, including 4 oz pours. The staff has always been pleasant and friendly. Today we shared boneless wings and truffle fries. (Both are apps) The menu says it's a meal for two. The fries were tasty, and a generous basket was only $6. The wings were $14 for a pound. The first few were just o.k. and I wouldn't recommend them, because the more we ate the smaller they got. They ended up being "popcorn" wings. I was expecting maybe a dozen nuggets, not 30 pieces the size of peanut M&M's. When they're that small, it's all breading. Will we be back? Yes, they got it going on, except for the bonless wings. read more

December 7, 2018 Friday - 1 PM for lunch 3 Adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Found this place on Untappd while we were visiting some family nearby. Atmosphere - For being in a mall you lose that vibe as soon as you walk into the place. The dark wood looked great in the place. We sat in the dining area where you can see some of the brewing process taking place. On the other side of the wall is bar, which is very spacious area. Food Drink - The reason we are here. I started with Tiramisu stout while my wife had a guest tap cider ÆppelTreow Winery & Distillery's Blackbird Berry Cider. The stout hit the spot. The berry cider still had a nice apple crispness to it. Then I finished the meal off with a taster of DAMN! That's Good! Double IPA. I should have ordered a pint Lunch - Yelp helped with a 25% discount on an appetizer on check in. We ordered two different apps as had an early dinner planned; truffle fries and Buffalo wings. The wings were different but tasty. The truffles fries were dusted with parm, my wife could have used more truffle, I liked the amount they had. Service - Our waitress was great as I always ask too many questions while in a brewery. Future - I hoped so. read more

I'm not sure why I decided to return to this restaurant for food but after today, I would not recommend this location. I came here with a coworker months ago and sat at the bar. There was nothing spectacular about the service or anything but nothing that would deter me from coming back. I dropped by today because I was in the area and was hungry. I was seated and it took a while for the server to great me & get me my drink. I already knew what I wanted so I ordered my food right away. It took what felt like 20 - 25 minutes (at a time that wasn't super busy for the restaurant) and to get my food, which was just a regular burger. When it did come out, my server checked on me within the first 30 seconds but then disappeared. I ate my food and then was clearly done eating, even with my used napkin on the plate and the server was no where to be found. It took about 10 minutes before the server came by and by then, I was just ready to do. If the server would have come back & checked on me at least once or twice more, I would have ordered dessert but since I was left there, sitting & waiting for a long period of time after I had finished eating, I sipped dessert and just cashed out immediately. I certainly will not be back due to the slow and inattentive service - especially for a quick bite to eat. I get that there is a labor shortage & all that jazz but it's still no excuse. read more

Just left there after being seated for 15 minutes and not one server coming to our table. Edited for response to owner- Just a point of clarification - I actually did not message your manager on Facebook - I received a Facebook message from your restaurant that indicated you had privately replied to my recommendation but the body of the message was blank initially so I responded and advised of the same. I certainly appreciate the quick response from your manager last night as well as the offer of the gift card to try to rectify what happened. It was both professional and courteous. However, I am a little taken back though by the second message you sent through messenger this morning (but failed to post in your reply to the review). I have provided a screenshot here so others reading this will have context relative to the rest of my reply. I am not sure what you mean as far as "far less time and with far less aggravation on (our) part" if we would have just let someone know. As far your statement insinuating that we were aggravated, all I will say in response to that is that it is quite assumptive. As far as time, when we decided to leave, we approached the hostess stand but it was unattended. I found the nearest waitress and told her that the restaurant could give our table to someone else and advised as to the reasons why. The time it took to do so was nominal. I was a server for three years and a bartender for 10 years. As both someone with prior experience working in the industry and a customer, I didn't realize that it was a patron's responsibility to manage staff and ensure they are doing their jobs correctly and timely. It appears as though you may just not agree with the method, manner, and platform in which we chose to address the issue. Your second message comes across as shifting blame for the experience on us, the patrons, for not "fixing" our experience. The idiom "quit while your ahead" comes to mind... read more

Wife and I have been here 3-4 times. Went last night. Saw they had Fish & Chips on the regular menu. It was a Saturday. We both ordered it. The fish was excellent. Crispy, crunchy breading, not greasy at all and the Cod delicious. Fries, tater tots very good. Margaritas perfectly mixed. Service was excellent. I believe the Fish and Chips were $19, which is fine just thought portion of fish was small. Other than that, great job read more

Good place. Decent selection of drafts. Wings were good, so was the beer cheese soup. Be advised this place is in the Southridge Mall.

2nd time there. The hostesses, there appeared to be two, were not in synch. The young one was completely flustered and the older one was trying to clean up the young one's messes. After seating, it all got a whole lot better. Our waiter, a thirty something guy, was great and brought us our yummy beer flights. The watermelon gose was amazing as was the strawberry shortcake. The big a## pretzel was a great texture and certainly was big? We split The Beast Burger which was made from bison. I ordered it med rare because well done bison can be so dry because of the low fat content. Anyway, it was perfectly done and had an egg n cheese on a PRETZEL bun!!!! The fries were really quite good, too. Ambiance-we were unfortunately there during trivia and the speaker was near our table. It sounded like the speaker needed replacement... read more

Been here twice. Both times the food was obviously made with cheap ingredients, including a burger made with a disgusting frozen patty and two types of slime on it. No texture, too salty. Can't believe it was 17$ - no way it cost more than 5$ to make it. Came with one small side of fries and a pickle wedge. Highway robbery. The vibes were terrible; a cool location and gimmicks do not compensate for bad food. Our server was lovely, and the trivia was fun. This is of course not a reflection of the restaurant itself. I've never walked away from a meal angry, and the feeling was so strong I needed to write a review for the first time. I never want to eat here again. read more

Wonderful as usual! I hadn't been to Explorium in a while and I was pleased to find the food, service, and brews were as good as I remember. We sat outside on the patio for lunch, sometimes sitting outside means the amount of attention you get from a server is slim due to them being split between inside and outside. Gabriella our server was wonderfully attentive, regularly coming out to check if we needed anything and bringing refills on soft drinks before we had to ask. She also had a good knowledge of the beers on tap. For lunch I had the Brew house chop salad which was very tasty. All around a wonderful lunch. read more

Always solid as far as the food the service and the atmosphere. The outdoor patio space is relaxing and enjoyable.

This was my third time going to this location. The first time was a great and wonderful experience. My wife, having celiac, was excited at the list of beer and food items she could have. The service was great. The second time was a Friday evening last fall. This time my wife wanted to try their GF baked fish, however they were out of fish at 6:00pm. I get it, it's Friday in Milwaukee. The service was ok, seemed like not enough wait staff for the number of customers. That beings us to yesterday. It was my birthday, and I chose this place for the GF menu items, fish fry, and beer choices. We the a party of 9 people, half were former Milwaukeeans looking to have a fish fry. We arrived at 12:50 for our 1:00pm reservation. I was looking forward to a fish fry, potato pancakes and an Old Fashioned. When the waitress took my drink order I mentioned I wanted the Old Fashioned that is on special for the fish fry since that is what I wanted to order. She notified me that they didn't have any fish. Sorry our fish order didn't come in. No fish at all, on a Friday, in Milwaukee. And almost a quarter of the menu are fish dishes. To me it's like going to a Brewer game and going to a concession stand to be told they have no brats, anywhere in the stadium. I would have hoped the manager or owner at this time was frantically on the phone trying to get fish from somewhere. I still have never had a fish fry from this place because both times I tried, they didn't have any fish. So our party of 9 left without ordering anything and went to one of the literally hundreds of restaurants in the Milwaukee area that had fish. At this point I'm done with Explorium. Not going back for a third attempt to try their fish. My wife can get a GF fish fry (with fried, not baked fish) from at least 3 other places in the area. read more

We came on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (5/1/21) to sit on the dog friendly (!) patio. You do still need to see the hostess inside for outdoor seating. The restaurant has a large food and drink menu, including many gluten free options. Everything seemed to be appropriately priced (3 beers, 1 beer flight, 1 cocktail, 1 appetizer, and 1 entree-sized salad for $58 pre tip). Service was mostly prompt except for our last drink order but we think the server might have been held up based on his earlier attentiveness. We'd definitely return! read more

What a great experience! A friend and I dropped by here based on the recommendation of a few friends who really enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and most importantly, the beer. Seating and service were prompt as expected. I did get a little overwhelmed at the variety of beers they had but that was easily solved with a flight of 4. The menu was diverse but I could not see anything other than the burgers. The meal was great, the service and atmosphere were terrific, and beer was unique and paired perfectly with the food. Great experience and I am happy that our friends recommended it to us. We will definitely be back. read more

A brewpub in a mall. The idea didn't really give me high expectations for the place. Most restaurants attached to malls seem to be low quality chains. Explorium is a locally-owned hidden gem. On this most recent trip we sat out on the patio. Something else you wouldn't expect from a mall restaurant Explorium has an amazing patio. Complete with an outdoor bar, TVs, and a firepit it's the perfect setting for a beautiful spring evening except for the view of the mall's parking lot, but I suppose there's not much that can be done about that. Explorium has about 20 of their in-house beers on tap in addition to about 10 guest beers and ciders. I tried their Humboldt's Homeland Hefeweizen and their Tiramisu Stout. Both solid beers, but the Tiramisu Stout was the standout with coffee and vanilla flavors adding a nice compliment to this the dark, rich milk stout. Their food menu is what I'd call high-end pub fare. It consists mainly of burgers, wings, pizza, etc, but all skillfully prepared with better ingredients than your local corner bar. On this trip I was running late so my friend offered to split her BOMB with me. The BOMB is essentially a 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger wrapped in pizza dough and baked like a calzone. That and the fries it comes with hit the spot perfectly and was just the right amount of food for two people. While I kind of wish it wasn't in a mall in Greendale, it's definitely worth checking out whether you plan on doing some shopping at the mall or not! read more

A follow up to my less than stellar review below. A response from the Owner-manager "Don't like our place? Dont come back !" By the way. When you are here they are videotaping you. Creepy -------------- After a mediocre experience a few weeks back. We decided to stop for a Sunday brunch. Not any better. Although the crowd was light it took 15 minutes before someone came to our table We ordered coffee-another 15 minutes to get it I had the chicken and waffles. Chicken was good. Light coating tender and tasty. The waffle ok. But the syrup had a weird smokey flavor which spoiled the meal. My wife had the quiche. Soggy crust. And the salad was supposed to have a balsamic dressing. When we asked where it was this weird dialog ensued. "Doesn't the salad come with dressing? Yes. Well I don't have any. Oh do you want some? Well isn't that supposed to come with the salad? Yes do you want some? Yes! Meanwhile. We had another 20 minutes before getting a coffee refill While waiting for a coffee refill a worker asked me to slide over so he could pull down a screen. What's that? Oh it's for the basketball game. Could you have waited until we left?!?
