The BBQ chik'n pizza and the garlic flatbread we're really great. The Irish stout was creamy and delicious, and the cocktails were wonderful, especially the one with the spicy scorpion pepper ginger beer in it. The bartender was knowledgeable, kind and a lot of fun! The restaurant arcade brought back memories of my childhood, and playing Hamerslagen was a unique experience. Dead bird brewery has a lot of character and not in a bad way. It felt somewhat Riverwest like. They were a bunch of random classic arcade games. The area looked "lived in" but clean. The parking lot is oddly super nice. Inside is a bunch of 4 table tops, a bar area with stools and the ordering area on the other side of the L bar. Around the tables are about 15 classic arcade games and a bunch of board games. The area is illuminated bay Einstein style drop light bulbs. I didn't try the food but it's the first all vegan brewery. The bartend wasn't overly friendly but was nice. He let me buy quarters off him for my laundry. The worst part of the brewery is the menus, behind the bartender are way too small. My mom would have to go to her car and get her back up glasses. There wasn't a printed menu of the beers elsewhere. Great brewery. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon while visiting town. The beer was good. I had a couple glasses of the Lemonade Shandy; great beer for a warm day. The vibe, music and general atmosphere is relaxed and fun. Good tunes and fun old school arcade games. Any place with RoboCop, Pac Man and a Munsters pinball is tops in my book. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town. read more

Wanted to check out a couple of breweries in the area, and this spot was a nice, low-key start. The service was decent--the bartender was friendly, though they didn't offer much info about the beers or their unique qualities. I liked that they had games to play while enjoying some brews and good company. It's a relaxed place to hang out, sip on some solid beers, and enjoy some old-school games. I love this spot! It's in an area with not too much else surrounding it but they're making it work. The food is incredible and there's a ton of vegan options. They've done an amazing job with the set up of the space and even though it's a large room it feels cozy. The large windows at the back let in a lot of light and really open it up! Deadbird is just a couple blocks for me and my fiance so we treat it a bit like a second living room on nights when we're looking for a drink, but don't have the energy to get dolled up. Their beer is solid, but they make some spectacular cocktails, and their vegan menu is an excellent collection of flavors we find it hard to find elsewhere. Every time we go in the vibe is fun and different, last time we were there they were doing a showing of groundhog day, we felt a bit silly for not realizing what day it was and not checking their event calendar. That was until we realized it was the day before groundhog day, and their online calendar made no mention of it, haha. We had a board game started already so we just figured it was nice to have some fun background noise. The service can be hit and miss, but only because it seems like they try to keep staffing light, and they are incredibly nice once you've got their attention. Finally! We got ourselves to Dead Bird! Only walking distance from our house, it was long overdue. I actually came across a post on social media about their summer music series - which is every Saturday from 4pm to 7pm through the end of August - and that really drew me in. So happy to see live music popping up again. Anywhoo... I've heard good things about this plant-based brewery and can say it lives up to the hype. They specialize in high ABV craft beers, in an array of types/flavors. My husband enjoyed his Osmotar beer, brewed in the sahti style, noting that it was surprisingly citrusy and a bit on the sour side. Being pregnant, I opted for a refreshing beverage off of their NA list. I absolutely loved the French Basil Lemonade. It was not only a nice tart, but also both refreshing and aromatic. I'll be excited to return and try other drinks like their Wild Foraged Rhubarb Soda and Ginger Beer. On to the FOOD! Yes, they serve only vegan dishes with locally sourced ingredients. No, you absolutely do not have to be vegan to enjoy it! We ordered ourselves the Korean BBQ Nachos, two tacos, and the Shishito Peppers. Let me tell ya, the nachos alone is more than enough for two people! The huge plate had a thick layer of corn chips stacked with house kimchi, sweet bbq sauce, vegan Chick'Un, roasted carrots, slaw, green onions, and some kind of magical, spicy bibimbap sauce. This dish was legit packed with flavor! Hubby was impressed with the vegan beef his el gringo taco, and I'd give the peppers a massive thumbs up. We sat on their puppy-friendly patio to enjoy the music. It's only small with five or six tables, but well-kept and an enjoyable atmosphere. If you opt to sit inside, it's definitely spacious and offers quite a few arcade games to play. read more

Dead Bird Brewing is tucked away in a residential area not day from Deer District. They have a nice sized parking lot, cute outdoor space and a spacious indoor area. We did not get any food but I think it is helpful to know their food menu is entirely vegan! I found their beer to be fine but really enjoyed the French basil lemonade which is one of their NA beverages. They actually have a great list of beverages fir those looking not to drink. There are plenty of options for arcade games to play with your friends. There was live music on the patio when went. I look forward to checking this place out again and getting food! read more

I really wanted to love this spot, and I'll start with what was good, the service was excellent and the space itself is full of 80s video games and has a nice outdoor space making it a good spot to meet for a beer. The beer was decent if not memorable. Where things went terribly wrong was the pizza. I love pizza, I love vegan pizza, but this just failed on both. The sauce was doused with spice rack basil, so much it was overpowering and the crust was chewy and undercooked; but perhaps the biggest issue was the cheese, what I assume was store bought slices of American. We both came hungry but couldn't make it through the pizzas. It's a cool spot to hang out and have a beer, I just hope they improve the pizzas. read more

A+ service, very nice and kind people. The ambiance on the inside is super cute, exposed Cream City brick, games, vintage arcade. All vegan food, for me I LOVED the cheese that came with the pretzel. Overall will be coming back and bringing friends. The only downfall i'd say honestly is the location. Not the best area of Milwaukee. But I understand why they picked the building, and with the 9pm close & a parking lot does make it feel a lot safer. Its a great restaurant and brewery. read more

We went for the pop-up smash burger event, only to find out that the smash burgers were plant based (which wasn't clear on the advertisement). We're avid meat eaters, but we have it a try, which was a BIG mistake. Aside from the poor advertising and quality of the burgers, the additional food we ordered (chips) were poor quality, small, and took nearly an hour to come out. Additionally, there was only one bartender working on a Saturday afternoon (7/5) which, coupled with poor customer service by him, extended the wait time and made the experience even worse. The bartender was extremely RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. He wouldn't honor our pub pass to include one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic. We brought our two passes only for him to say the best he can do is buy one get one free. It said that NOWHERE on the passes, and when I went to go say something to try and remedy the situation, he completely ignored me and made it seem like we were a bother for being there as paying patrons. Not only that, but he was even more rude when our "food" was ready and I tried to go pick it up (I put "food" in parentheses because the food was a joke - they were a small portion of Costco chips sprinkled with seasoning for $6). Overall, this was the WORST experience we've had at any of the pub pass bars we've visited this year (actually the worst customer service and quality of food we've received at any bar in Wisconsin). This place is awful and we are definitely NOT returning. In short: if you're thinking of going, THINK AGAIN (you'll regret it if you go). RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION! read more

I found this little gem during Open Doors Milwaukee this year. We arrived just in time for the last tour of the day. What I learned is their food is Vegan and they had minimal beer on tap that day due to a recent party. The property is really neat, the parking lot collects rain water to use for the plants and they have solar panels on roof. It was a bit hard to hear all the details during the tour but they are a vegan brewery and obviously try to be as green as possible. They have a nice patio area and I saw in another review, they have live music in the summer. I plan to check it out again and try some of their beers that were out that day. read more

Really quaint micro-brewery located off the main drag, serving brews and other assorted alcoholic / non-alcoholic beverages. I sampled the "Where Is Squirrel" Brown Ale. Awesome rich flavor! Unique "old school" video games on premises. Prices are very reasonable. Plenty of street parking. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. They answered all my questions. Dead Bird was a great spot to hangout and grab some food. They have done a very good job of cultivating the "hangout spot" atmosphere. They have board games, arcade games, a bar, and some tables. Overall, it's a really cool concept. Upon arriving, we were a little confused on how to order. Do we seat ourselves? Do we order at the bar? Do we wait to be seated? We had ended up walking up to the bar where we found menus, and after looking over the menu for a few minutes, the bartender (who was reallly nice) offered his help, took our order, and gave us a buzzer that notified us when our food was ready for pickup. Once we figured things out, the process was pretty straightforward. There are no servers. Their mixed drinks are where they make a lot of profit. I paid $9 for my drink. It was pretty, but it wasn't mixed at all (I guess I was supposed to do that?) and I feel like there was no alcohol in it. I could be wrong, but I didn't taste any nor feel anything after drinking it. I won't be getting mixed drinks if I come back. The tacos were pretty good. Two of them were a tad on the dry side, but they were flavorful and affordable. I recommend putting some hot sauce on them! I definitely want to give Dead Bird another try when I have more time to spend there. read more

Another great brewery of Milwaukee. This place was actually more on a bucket list but this place had plenty of great drinks as well as plenty of delicious food. It's got such a beautiful, ambient atmosphere. This place has tons of board games to play too. It's got an amazing parking lot and facade! Dead Bird Brewing is a lot of things. It's a brewery, it's an arcade vault, it's a place to watch the game and it's also a place to grab a bite to eat. I highly recommend the nachos or the chips and queso. If that's not your thing than get a chili cheese dog! As far as the beer goes they have a few rotating guest taps in addition to their own beer which includes seasonals and even their own hard seltzer! As for the arcade games, they have a lot of them!! The lesser used games get swapped out for others to keep it fresh so if you have one you love, plug a lot of quarters in to it! I also saw this last time they have a shuffle board now so that could be fun. The space is pretty big and airy so I would love to see some live music, a craft fair or something.. In general we like coming to this place to enjoy the food, drinks, games and usually have a nice time. Check them out! read more

I want to scream that I love this place, but after my first visit, I just can't. I like the space. I like the vintage video games. And it's nice to see this development in the area of the city that it's in, but thus far, the beers that we tried, just did not enthuse us to make a return any time soon. That is common with new breweries. It's not unheard of for them to require a few months of operation to get the hang of new equipment. I'll hold with three stars for now. Hoping to return in a few months and upgrade my rating. Also, I must confess, not a fan of the name. When I'm drinking beer, I don't like to think of dead birds. read more

The patio is small but dogs are allowed. The people are very nice!! They are still requiring masks inside. I've been there twice now and each time was terrific. I love the beer choices and my selections were first class. But the food was even better! What's better than first class? I don't know, but something is and the food was! They use Impossible "meats" in their tacos and nachos, and I'm not sure what kind of "cheese" but we ordered both and absolutely loved them. I'm not a fan of the small size of the street tacos anywhere, but the loaded nachos serving size was gargantuan, we couldn't finish them all! I got to play Joust there, a game from my youth, and I got the top score! That's never happened to me ever, so I will always have extremely fond memories of Dead Bird. The beer, the food, the high-scoring game, good friends, a beautiful wedding reception on the 2nd visit, all in all - better than first class! read more
