Our first time in Milwaukee we wanted a brewery tour. This place came up in a search so off we went . What a find! We came early before our 2 pm tour to sample beer and have some lunch. I had the Brewben, my husband had the fish tacos. The food was very good . Reasonably priced, good portions, and tasty. The beer - oh the beer!! So many options - a taste for everyone . Hubs likes the IPAS; I like lighter beer. Plenty of choices ! Now the tour - we paid $14 each With the tour each of us received 4 tokens, each good for an 8 oz pour; this was a huge bonus . The tour paid for itself . During the tour we had a complementary pour from our guide, who was informative and hilarious . We received even more tokens during the tour for participating in the conversations and answering questions . Needless to say, it was well worth the cost. We had so many tokens we went back for lunch the next day! The fish and chips were amazing. Great brewery, right on the river , great vibe, great food. I'm glad that I can finally say I've been here. I'm not a beer enjoyer whatsoever, but when a video calls, you still gotta film it. I tried the nitro creamsicle, and if I actually enjoyed beers & IPAs, I know this would be a favorite of mine because the initial flavor is spectacular. The big highlight though? The cheese curds! First of all, come here for the cheese curds and the beer. This brewery wins so many awards for both, and it's incredibly easy to understand why. They're delicious, and that's coming from someone who doesn't typically like either of those things. We also tried the beer brat, which was super tasty and had the perfect "snap". I'd probably sub out the fries for something else, but it was very enjoyable. While we visited, we also attended a weekday tour. The tour comes with 4 tokens which can be used for "half pour" beers (or 2 tokens for a "full pour"). The staff was incredibly generous with the pours, and we honestly had TOO much beer. The tour itself was unfortunately not very memorable. The was more of a high level overview of the history of Lakefront Brewery and the beer making process as opposed to an actual tour. Seemingly, the weekend tours allow you to get a bit closer to the equipment on the brewery floor, so keep that in mind if you're visiting during the week. They've also have a menu with bar staples, including the aforementioned cheese curds, which were delicious - hot and lightly battered, not fried past all recognition. We started with the cheese curds of the month for May, French Onion wow! Absolutely mind-blowing. The entrées were great too, and the beer is always on point. What a cool place to hang out! My friend took us to this place around lunchtime on a Saturday. It was busy, but we were able to get a table. When you order food or drinks, you have to go up to the bar or the food ordering area. They also have an area outside for this, which seemed awesome, since it was right on the river!! For food, I got the beer brat with fries. My boyfriend got the sausage platter and cheese curds. Everything was very good. For the sausage platter, he bought three buns since they did not come with buns. These were $2 each. Next time, I don't think we would need to order any buns since it is already a lot of food. This place is great! Riverfront views and a large beer hall will not disappoint. We did the tour with Brandon and he was an absolutely fantastic guide! Although it was so hot our tour didn't actually take us out into the brewery, it seemed everyone still had fun. You get 4 beers per person with your tokens and that alone is worth the price of admission. The tour lasts around 50 minutes. A few people recommended this place, and I wasn't disappointed. At all. Friendly folks at the beer counter were all too ready to help. I had an early morning flight out of the Hudson Valley and had dropped off my bags before scooting over to the brewery on a hot and smoky early afternoon. So, that meant starting with a few of Lakefront's more refreshing ones. I picked 4 and then asked the server to pick the one I needed to try before leaving, and got to enjoy the Riverwest Stein as a result. If you're in Milwaukee this is 100% a must visit. We were visiting and my husband had been before and was hyping it up so much. We got there and it was packed! We ordered the cheese curds (of course) and the pretzel. Their curds have been voted best curds in Milwaukee for years in a row and they wrecked delish but that pretzel... was 100/10. If you've ever been to a Hofbrahaus, Lakefront Brewery has the same vibe. You walk in and what you see is a very large open space with lots of tables. When I visited on a weeknight, it was open seating, so it worked well for the large group I was with. You order food and beer at the counter and then wait for your number to be called. The food menu isn't super extensive so check it out before you go. The food itself was fine but nothing spectacular. On the other hand, the beer was good and the whole place had a great vibe. Only street parking is available and the kitchen closes rather early (8pm) ahead of the brewery closing at 9pm (even Friday and Saturday). read more

10/10 experience at Lakefront Brewery. Started off with the legendary brewery tour. With the price of your tour, you got 4 beers and a pint glass. Our tour guide was fun and entertaining. All the beers were excellent. Tried a variety of things during and after the tour. Also ordered some of their cheese curds which are supposedly the best in all of Milwaukee. We got the classic curds as well as the Mexican street corn loaded curds. Both were amazing and I do agree they were the best ones we tried while in Milwaukee. Came here on a Friday night and while it was PACKED, it didn't take long for us to see a party leaving to get a table inside. We had a party of 7 (plus a stroller) so we got a table in the corner which was nice and cozy yet you could still see everything. I didn't know I would love live Polka so much but it was an ideal musical backdrop as it wasn't overbearingly loud for us to shout at each other to converse but loud enough for people to dance on the dance floor. The system is that you find a table, get the number of the table, then line up for food (drinks are a different line), put your order in, and they bring it to your table. We got some people ordering drinks while others ordered food so it was faster. It was Friday so I wanted Friday Fish Fry! I read a ton of reviews for the best places to try but we ended up here partly based on how historic the FFF is here and the space to accommodate our group with kids. Still, I had high expectations that the Fish Fry did not meet. I got the cod (maybe I should have gotten the other fish) and it was dry on the inside and the outside was soggy, not crispy. The fish was mild at least and not fishy at all (at another place it was juicy and crispy but way too fishy). The cheese curds were a hit and my son, who is allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts, was able to have the chicken tenders and fries and he rated it pretty high. Very fun place with a great outdoor river patio. Tour: Did the tour first. It's full of jokes & basically a run down of how beer is made and the history of Lakefront Brewery. Total runtime is around 50mins. Cost is $13 on the weekdays & $16 on the weekends. You get 4 tokens for 4 different beers, generous pours that adds up to about 2.5 beers. I'm addition, you also get either a souvenir glass or bottle opener. If you pay for the beer separately, it's about $3 a pour so the tour is a good deal. You can use your tokens before, once during the tour & after the tour. Food: I got the fish & chips basket. Very fresh fish with a thin batter. Seasoned fries that did not require ketchup. I enjoyed the coleslaw & would describe it as a healthy version. Beer: I tried the Riverstein, which I believe is a red ale? 'm not a big drinker. Dehydrates my skin & makes it red.Very good beer though. Ambiance: Beautiful, relaxing riverfront patio. Watch the boats go by. Love it. Service: Great. We were told the tour was a must do, so it was def one of the funniest things we did.. totally recommend. The bartender Nicky was super cool, gave us great advice and even gave us great drinking options when we were being indecisive. We went a few times, one was when they had a polka band, and they were fun. All the kids were up dancing around and it got really lively! Wisconsin is known for 2 things; beer and cheese curds. Lakefront Brewery does a fantastic job at both. My friends and I wanted to have both atleast once while visiting Milwaukee. We saw a lot of good reviews on Yelp and so we thought Lakefront would be a good pick. The Brewery is located right on the lake so it has a nice view. The building is massive so luckily there is a lot of seating but it gets crowded. We ended up having to wait 30 minutes but luckily they have a gift shop so there is something to do. Their beer is fantastic. My husband enjoyed it so much that he ended up buying a cup. We also had the pretzel and the cheese curds which we all enjoyed. Took a tour here on a Friday and really enjoyed our tour guide's humor. There were lots of families here. There was a polka band and they guys walked around singing to all the tables before their set started. Super cool. They have a small kitchen. I was disappointed to learn that they don't make their special flavored cheese curds on Fridays, but the regular ones were just fine and enough for our table to share. There's a little deck in the back that overlooks the Milwaukee River that we were able to enjoy on a beautiful, unseasonably warm day. Overall a nice time here. One kind of weird thing that happened here, which I only mention because it didn't seem like our tour guide was able to handle it in the moment, and they definitely need a system in place to handle guests that are making the rest of the group uncomfortable. There was a guy who kept turning around and staring at people, fidgeting in a way that I recognized as agitation, and kind of pacing. All the parents who had kids in the group realized there was a problem and even though we didn't know each other, kind of formed a line in front of the kids. I'm sure it was a one-off, but there has to be a way to deal with guests like that. Also a little weird that kids over the age of 12 have to pay for the tour, but each of their soda drinks took two tokens, while the adults only used one for beers. read more

Let's start with the positives. This location is epic. Great views of the river and the city. On a warm breezy summer day in Milwaukee, not many other places I would want to be. Inside the beer hall was just as fun and inviting. Service- are flights frowned upon on a Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm? My beertender could not be more displeased with me wanting a flight. She even filled one of my pours 3/4 of the way. Would she rather me try 4 or 5 beers and then get a pint? Not sure why she acted that way. Beer - decent but I'm not running to the store to get a 6er. The coating on the curds was light, but crispy. They are generous with the term "curds," as most of the pieces were as big as a standard mozz stick. While the curds are first to draw your attention, the ranch will leave you insatiable. It was the best ranch I've ever had. The pretzel was good, but was overshadowed by the curds. The beer cheese tasted good, but the silky texture was reminiscent of hummus--as opposed to a cheese sauce. Overall, very cool place and great location. We showed up for their brewery tour and ended up staying for their infamous fishfry. Their tour guides are hilarious. Know it will NOT be PG13. If you are good with that, you will have a great time. Each tour, you get four tokens to exchange for drinks. They are VERY healthy pours. We got waaaaay more than 32 oz. For kiddos, no need to pay. They still get four tokens for non alcoholic drinks. My kiddo loved their maple syrup root beer. After the tour, you can either chill in the giant beer hall or you can kick it on their multi-level outdoor patio overlooking the river. The upper tier is smaller, but a great place to watch all the river traffic and people watch. The fish fry. It's good. But PSA: the line to order gets loooooong. Fishfry opens at 4pm. What a fun and quintessential Milwaukee tour! This large brewery sits on the riverfront and produces large quantities of IPA and specialty beer (400 cases or something like that) throughout the Midwest and South. For $14, you get a 50 minute tour with info on the history of the brewery, how they make beer, and a Laverne and Shirley singalong. They give you 4 chips to redeem for 6 oz pours along the tour and hand out more for answering questions (I got one for best singing to L&S singalong). Our tour guide George was hilarious, a true musical theater presenter. The Japanese group may not have understood all his jokes (vas deferens) but he made it light. We finished the tour in the beer hall and split a brat and fries which were quite good. The only difficulty was getting to the brewery from across the bridge as they had shut down some pedestrian walkways. Highly recommend for a fun time. read more
