I stumbled across Wizard Works Brewing while just bouncing around downtown one day. Since then I have gone back many times! I love that it is a little hidden down the stairwell and the theme continues inside. Great selection of beers on tap, and the bartenders help with recommendations if you are unsure!

Really great space! Bartender was super friendly and we met some other cool people at the bar. Love the vibe they have created here

Cute lower level space. Nice that they are dog friendly for an all indoor space. Fun themed menu items to fit the Wizard vibes. Harley was served a dish of treats before I even ordered anything to drink The staff onsite thought Harley was a hoot with how chill he was they kept forgetting I even had a dog with me! He was so comfortable in the space he took a full on nap.

This was one of our favorite breweries we visiting while in Milwaukee! Not only did they have a great selection of different types of beer, this was also a cool theme and GREAT service! The bartenders were so helpful in giving us recommendations of things to do while we were in town and were just a pleasure to chat with!

Home made root beer for us that can't drink alcohol.

Everyone close to me knows I don't drink alcohol. However, I was with a group of friends that do and we were in Milwaukee killing time. Very cool place in a basement that is hard to find but is a Treasure, apparently, when you do. Well, they brew root beer! I was so happy I had three mugs of this stuff. It wasn't too sweet and very unique. All of my party enjoyed all their beers. All of them had beer flight samplers. Also, the Brewer is a magician, and he might share some cool things with you . Definitely give this place a visit you won't be disappointed whether you drink alcohol or you don't.

This may not be the easiest brewery to find between parking and then crawling down into the basement, but it's worth it! They have very friendly staff, super casual open space, and some pretty interesting beers on tap right now - enough to get a good full flight. Our favorite was the Puck Fumpkin which is a caramel apple sour that absolutely is nostalgic of those caramel apple suckers. We also got the Magic Jam which is a wild strawberry and rhubarb sour which was a good balance of fruity and sour in my opinion. You don't see a lot of Irish Red Ales so we of course had to get the Secret Handshake. Finally, we rounded out our flight of four with the Hellstrom Oktoberfest marzen which to be honest was the worst of the bunch. Had we not been in a rush, I would have stayed longer, but we'll have to come back sometime to try their NA root beer butterbeer!

Liked this bar in the basement. Very cute space but it can fill up quick. Love the vault door and open brewing concept so you can see the tanks. The beer was okay but maybe I just didn't try the right one. They don't have food but more like bags of chips. You order up at the bar rather than get served at the table. The team seemed nice and was fairly quick with our drink order. The prices were reasonable but parking in the area is tough. Would be open to coming back but not in a rush.

Cute place, loved the glass so much I bought one for like $6. There's neat magic memorabilia around to check out. They have a trivia night and you can play Mario kart while you're there. Lots of entertainment and things to look at in a small place but it adds more to the magic of it. Solid beer selection also! The lady beer tender was knowledgeable on her beers and we love that! Thanks for quenching our groups thirst. Cheers!

This small taproom and brewery is a great addition to the third ward. They offer rotating taps and the space is unique and chill. No food offered currently. You can reserve the space for private parties and the bartenders are friendly and attentive. The owner was a magician so that's the theme of the place, kinda neat! Don't forget to check out the magic themed corner near the bar! If you checkin on Yelp you get a free beer (valid at the time of this review).

We went on a brewery tour covering four states! This was one of my favorite breweries. To be fair Milwaukee is one of my favorite places, so I'm very partial. I also love most anything supernatural, so I was excited to come here. The brewery is located down stairs. There is an event hall upstairs. The theme is obviously witchcraft, but also gaming. I loved the atmosphere. I was really hoping I would also love the beer! I was so happy that I did!! We both loved and enjoyed our time chatting with the bartender and other patrons. We had an amazing time, and I can't wait to go back again!!

Wizard works is in the old Broken Bat, a basement off Buffalo and Water in third ward. Somewhat smaller brewery where the seating gets close to the brewery equipment. Harry Potter was playing - somewhere between ironic and punny. I, a beer snob, didn't like either of the two beers I purchased. The Swiss Mystic was more of a winter spice stout than hot chocolate and Abracadabra was not very hoppy for an ipa.

It is always a great experience to stop in at Wizard Works Brewing. The brews are outstanding. With so many choices for microbreweries in this area, this one has great central Third Ward location and a very nice magical chill vibe. Why magical? The owner is also a magician and a great one. The ambiance is great and the tables are aesthetically laid out. I also became a part of the mug club. This time I had the Swiss Mystic which was beyond delicious. I also have a disdain for IPAs but after tasting the Abracadabra I decided to have a pint of that as well. If you have friends who don't drink alcohol or you are not in the mood for alcohol, the root beer is delicious, along with the fancier rootbeer serving of "I can't believe it's not butterbeer".

My husband and I stumbled in after reading a sign in the Third Ward. We love local breweries, and Wizard Works Brewing was no exception. We met the owners Chris and Jenny. They were incredibly helpful and personable. We also witnessed a special magic trick courtesy of Chris, a real life magician! My husband ordered 2 small pours, and I was able to sample them--they were delicious! The location is ideal--you have plenty of food, coffee and leisure nearby--why not stop in for some of the best beer? We will definitely be making more stops here in the future, and we look forward to bringing family in with us. Awesome service, awesome location and awesome beer. What's not to love?

    Do they allow dogs?

We LOVE dogs and always have some dog treats at hand! However, the Milwaukee Health Department has said we cannot allow dogs inside the brewery. We do have outdoor seating and dogs are most welcome there. Looking forward to meeting your pup!

Well on our last night we decided to give it a go again. My coworker ordered food ahead of me as I went to the beer bar. He said the gal that took his order was extremely rude, I shrugged it off. Went ahead to the food counter and I got a different gal. Not even 10 minutes later my coworker and his wife had their food. Me and my girl patiently sat waiting, ordered the sausage flight. About 20 minutes later I finally walked up to the food counter and happened to ask the "rude" employee about my food. Now I saw what my coworker was talking about. Few minutes later she came out and said there was already an order for this table... ya because there is 2 different parties. Finally she brought our food out which was wrong.... And was absolutely the rudest food service person I've ever seen. Talked with a manager which I never do this and he at least comped the food. Long story short, you're in the food service industry, be nice to people. We came to have a good time and she pretty much ruined it. Besides her rudeness everything was awesome and if I'm ever back in Milwaukee I will go back

I was completely sold when I found out they had a vegan version of the fish fry. It worked perfectly for our Thursday to Saturday trip to MKE. I reserved a table for 6pm. We were seated at a high top with a little "reserved" card so we felt important. Our server was so nice and friendly. She came over before we were even ready to order. It didn't take long for us to figure it out because there were a few obvious choices: CHEESE CURDS and what we came for, the fucking fish fry. I ordered the plant based one, GF the walleye. I was going to get one of their beers but the root beer old fashioned caught my attention immediately. Old fashioneds are typically too adult-tasting for me but I thought I might be able to handle it. It was. DELICIOUS. What a great twist on an old fashioned. There must have been a hole in the bottom of my glass because that shit was gone before I knew it. The cheese curds were, hands down, the best cheese curds I have ever had in my life and possibly one of the best things I have ever consumed period. Holy shit. Would it be inappropriate to have 2 orders? The plant based fish fry was also impressive considering that it wasn't fish. I loved it and I loved being able to participate in something like that. GF's fish fry was "really good". There was also a polka band which was fucking adorable. Supposedly they have done it every Friday for 25 years and that is just too precious. It seems like a must do while in Milwaukee.

It was a little industrial with a lot of seating, so this is a good spot to balance getting those fun going-out vibes with actually securing a seat. There seemed to be something for everyone on the menu, and they had a lot of collabs with other businesses. We opted for two different IPAs that were both delicious. For food, we split the cheese curds, hummus, and BBQ pork Mac and cheese. The cheese curds were extra crispy and I loved the garlic Parmesan seasoning. The chive crema served alongside was herby, creamy, and unique, giving a refreshing contrast. I enjoyed the selection of veggies with the hummus and the grilled garlic naan was delicious, though the hummus itself did taste just like the Sabra red pepper kind that you could buy in a store. However, the Mac and cheese absolutely stole the show- it was decadently cheesy with a wonderful white cheddar sauce, and the pork itself was slightly sweet and super tender. The scallions and jalapeños completed the picture perfectly. Would definitely recommend ordering this. The bartender taking our orders was also super nice and even brought a complimentary pour due to the wait for the second round, which we'd not mentioned at all. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely return next time we're in the area!

They have a couple of different areas, and the one towards the back had a private event (birthday party). To me it feels more like the name, a Taproom with a Kitchen. It has a good selection of adult beverages and a small, but decent selection of food. The menus are all online, and you go to the bar to order (they have servers to bring you the food). Got a round of drinks (Sangria, Marguaritas, and Old Fashioned). They were all good. For food, we started with an order of the Cheese Curds. They came out hot, with the chili honey sauce drizzled on top, with a side of ranch. They were good, but could have benefited from being cooked longer (some were soggy or cheese not melted). For our dinners, we ordered the Shrimp tacos, Brisket tacos, Veggie Quesadilla, and the Hamburger. Everybody was satisfied, but nobody was all that excited. My Shrimp tacos were just okay. The flour tortillas tops were hard and the lower parts soft (as if they might have been sitting under a heat lamp. The pico de gallo was okay, but it had jalapenos, and I didn't think to ask. (But easy enough to pick out). The whole plate seemed a little thrown together. The burger was the best of the entrees that we ordered. For service, you need to go up and order. It took a while to get someone's attention, but in taking the order, they were friendly and helpful. The food took a reasonable amount of time, but during the meal nobody stopped back to ask how things are. Maybe because we didn't have an actual "server" we were left on our own. It was an okay experience, but not a place that I would see us coming back to.
