We've been coming here for some time and enjoy the food, beer, service and atmosphere. It's our go to Friday night spot as a family, since we live/work in the area. They do get busy, so consider a reservation. It's American pub food for the most part. Cheese curds are delicious. I love the pizzas and salads. They had a previous pizza guy and his pizzas were the best, sorry he's not there anymore, but they're still good. My husband likes their burgers and specials. My adult children like the sandwiches. Fish fry is excellent except for the coleslaw, it's spicy and I prefer either creamy or vinegar. We have tried many of the beers and enjoy them all. I typically get the crusher. Bartenders are always attentive when we sit at the bar. Servers are great, they are all so nice and remember regulars. Hostess is warm and welcoming, we even saw her at the grocery store and she said hi. They seem to have very little turnover of staff. Whenever we had any issues, we let the staff know and they corrected it promptly. They have a rewards club so we save on meals and a mug club to save on beer. The patio is a great spot in summer, there's a fire pit and you can bring dogs. They have trivia and other events regularly. We have tried their other Explorium locations and Wayfinder on the east side before a show - we had excellent service there too. The owners seem dedicated to the community and their staff. We stopped in for dinner before heading to an event at the botanic garden down the road. The Explorium is in the Southridge Mall although it has it own entrance. We were there on a Saturday night and while we weren't the only people there it was far from busy. The service was friendly and attentive. The dining room is casual with a view of the beer tanks. Basically what you would expect at a craft brewery. The menu had the basics - appetizers, soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches. They also make pizza and calzones and some other main course dishes like fish and chips. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer. My husband ordered a sandwich and I ordered the boneless wings. For drinks my husband ordered a ginger beer and I ordered Diet Coke. The check before tip was $62. Normally I'd be okay with that but I thought it was a lot given the quality of the food. The cheese curds and boneless chicken wings seemed like items from a restaurant supply place that they fried up. Unfortunately next time we are in the area we'll go somewhere else. Went to Explorium again, this time for a dog adoption / raising money for the adoption agency. The Explorium staff working on the event were very excited, did a great job promoting with the raffles etc. Our specific wait person was not into the event or serving. They didn't explain the raffle or rules. They didn't seem very concerned about an allergy. They did bring over a whole picture of soda. The cocktails and beer were good. I try to like this place every time I go, but the food is just fine. I got the grilled chicken sandwich, which was flavorless. The chips were delicious, though! My friend got the salmon bowl, which she seemed to enjoy. The giant ass pretzel is HEAVENLY!! I also got the lemon drop martini, it's clear that this place is more for draft beers than cocktails. Nice atmosphere at the outside bar. Allows smoking which is nice. Their variety of Beer, Ale, and other brewed beverages are great and change through the year. More than likely they will have something for everyone. The bartenders are very knowledgeable with what to serve you if you are new to beer. Stopped by with the family for dinner. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waitress. Our waitress was very attentive and on point. Three of the four of us enjoyed our meal. I'm the one who did not. I got the Cuban sandwich and do not recommend. The pork was questionable looking and the sandwich itself looked sickly. If you're going, avoid the Cuban. read more

My buffalo cauliflower was something I've had other places, pretty basic standard probably frozen-drop-in-the-fryer type stuff, but it's tasty! My most recent visit I went with a flatbread that resembled a Margherita style pizza. I've been here many times for beer or carried out - Lost in the Sauce is their specialty IPA, get it! Recently I carried out two of their Wild Ales, one was rose & plum and they were both incredibly well done sours! This place does get busy, but they have a patio during the temperate months. We really enjoyed our visit to Explorium Brewpub. They have a convenient location at the mall entrance with plenty of parking, indoor, and outdoor seating. They have a huge selection of tasty beers plus wine, spirits, and specialty drinks. We visited on Friday so opted to have fish. Beer battered fish and baked cod were excellent. We beat the rush by showing up at 2pm and received superior service from Nicholas. Restaurant is tastefully decorated and piped in pleasant music at a reasonable volume. We arrived right at noon for lunch and the place quickly filled up around us so our server was running his butt off but kept our sodas full and kindly pointed out the basket of napkins already on our table when he was flagged over in request of more napkins because the jalapeno burger was delicious but that beer cheese WAS messy. I love perogies and all things fried but I'm still trying to decide if I liked these deep fried perogies as much as the typical...(Steamed?) Variety but they WERE good. I came out tonight to hang out with the family and grab some beer; it has been far too long since I've had some excellent concoctions from The Explorium Brewpub. On tap for tonight's samplings: * BA Chocolate Chili Stout * Milwaukee County Stout - Oat Whiskey 2023 * BA Chocolate Orange The chili stout gets you in the throat with just the right amount of heat, but oh so smooth. The oat Whiskey was delicious: smooth, silky We had some excellent meals tonight. Salmon, Bahn Mi, THE BEAST. Everyone had to have the clam chowder as well because it's the best anywhere. I don't know how it's got a right to be as good as it is, but man, it is delicious. Just the right amount of noise in here tonight. I like that there was a great buzz but you didn't have to shout. Last week Saturday my wife and I were shopping and decided to stop in for a quick bite. Ring Valentines Day we knew most places would be busy. We walked in at 4:30 and the host said it would be an hour wait because she had many reservations coming soon. That is 100% understandable, we looked at the bar and there were a few seats open so we went there to order. I sat down and my wife decided to bring the few packages to the car. This took about 5 min and in that time no one came by for a drink or to welcome. 5 min later the bartender worked her way to us and dropped a few menus and said I will be back. It took at least another 5 min before our drink order went in. Normally I would not say anything but the others at the bar were getting service quite quickly. We put our order in. My wife is in a special diet so she asked for the salad with the steak on it I ordered soup and wings. A few minutes later she came back saying they were out of the steak. On Valentine's Day at 5pm? She then ordered a burger no bun no side just mushrooms and onions and a soup. The food came in a timely manner and was hot but her burger was small and a tiny condiment cup of mushrooms and onions. The burger was $15 and $1 for the mushroom and $1 for the onions. No credit for no bun. We had to wait until our meal was almost done before we got a second drink and they did not have the beer I asked for, again the bar was not busy and others were receiving service fast. Good venue with large beer list that has a style for everyone. The special food item was the Monte Cristo which came with diced potatoes. Really good sandwich and the French toast breading was the perfect fluffy texture. Our server Kristina was really nice and took good care of us. Overall a good experience. This was my new restaurant of the week to try and a bookmark off the board. The place is in the Southridge mall next to Macys. It has a chain decor feel to it with a bar, hi tables and dining room in the back. They have a big outdoor patio for the nice days. They have a sports bar feel with all the TVs and taps. I asked for a suggestion for something tall and refreshing and he suggested beers and I said a cocktail and he suggested an old fashioned, that's a shorty and not summer refreshing so I say give me a Mai Tie. The Mai Tie really hit the spot on a warm summer day and very refreshing.I was craving a burger but I wasn't feeling any of the house speciality ones so I ordered a cheddar cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle rare with mashed potatoes as my side. My cheeseburger came quick and looked great on a pretzel bun. My first bite was wow it's a flavorful charbroiled patty cooked rare, you can tell by the taste of the beef. The toppings were fresh. I hated the the semi hard pretzel bun because the cheeseburger kept sliding out the back with out even using any ketchup etc. The mashed potatoes were not seasoned and boring but they were skin on and creamy. Loved the patio space on a weekend. It was busy but our server was attentive and we had food and drink fairly quickly. I heard the steak salad was a little flavorless so probably wouldn't order that again. The burger with chips was good. We also got a few tasters of beers to try some options. The hefeweizen was good but not great. Liked the oktoberfest and the damn good IPA. Overall, kind of pricey for what you get but not a bad patio space. Will probably return. read more

Solid spot for food and drinks. They have plenty of patio space with lots of umbrellas for shade. The BLT was very good, they didn't skimp on the bacon which I appreciated. So it is good but not great. People rave about it but maybe bc they have a great beer selection but the food is just on the okay to good side. Came in for dinner on a Friday night. Table for two & with dozens of tables available inside they placed my gf & I on a table that is literally just 15" wide so you have to eat side by side instead of face to face. Ended up not being bad but when we asked for a different table the waiter just shrugged it off since it would have gone to another wait staff. The Friday Fish Fry is something I've heard about being amazing here, which is why we picked it. The Fried Perch was 3 extremely small pieces. Literally each could be eaten in two bites. The bar chips though were great & you got a great amount. If they would have skimped on the chips like some places then I think this review would have been closer to a 2.5* if possible. My gf got the Salmon Genoveses Salad & it looked great & very great portion amount. Then we also got the Hummus appetizer & that was also a very large portion for an appetizer. They give you lots of celery & carrots to go with probably a full cup of good hummus. I'd go back but I definitely wouldn't be getting the Fried Perch. Plus I saw another table get one of the baked/blackened Friday Fish Fry dinners & you got a really small 4oz portion of fish so definitely not going to fill you up. Host, servers and drinks were good...but the food, not so much. What I think happened is that the chef is no longer with the company or had off today. My family and I ordered what we usually order when we go there...fish fry was over cooked and potato pancakes were bland, no flavor whatsoever. The soup of the day was clam chowder and was not rich and creamy like normal, it was watery lacking flavor and a bit too much salt. Kiddos had pasta and had one bite and didn't like it...I mean how do you mess up pasta. Not sure what happened to this place but I'm not liking it enough to come back. Very sad. read more

We've been here a few times, now and I have to say, the food is pretty decent. Yes, I came in with low expectations, but I have been proven wrong. We have had the wings, both boneless and bone in, truffle fries, the LCD Cheese, the Big Ass Pretzel, the Pint of Bacon, The Made Man, and various burgers and sandwiches. 2 things to note: the boneless wings have always been small, like popcorn shrimp, and the Pint of Bacon can get overly sweet over time, if you don't share it. That being said, there isn't anything that I wouldn't order again. I'm not a beer drinker, but they have a good cocktail list, and I have yet to be disappointed by that, either. There are two sides to the restaurant...one is more a pub atmosphere, and the other is a true restaurant, with views into the brewing room. Having eaten at the Third Ward location we were looking forward to a location with easier parking. The food and service did not live up to the Third Ward location. They were out of multiple menu items, it took roughly 35-40 minutes just to get our appetizers. The beer was even slower so I would have to order one right when they brought me one. My mom took me here because she had been on two previous occasions and said the food was excellent. Taking a look at the menu, I was excited. However, our experience was very lackluster. Let me preference by saying that my mom and I are former waitresses, my mom having been one as well as a hostess for at least two decades. So, we are likely more critical than most. The restaurant was not very busy at almost 2pm on a Monday, after the major lunch hour time. There were a few groups outside enjoying the weather on the patio, but the inside was pretty quiet. We were sat and it look a few minutes for our server to come take our drink order, at which point we were ready to put in our full order because we had come prepared. A side note: my mom was able to access the menu through the app at home but kept getting a "Forbidden" error message in the restaurant, through both app and two different browsers. I had no issues. I'm personally a fan of QR codes unlike most, but this error could be a big inconvenience for some. We got our appetizers of cheese curds and fried meatloaf, as well as our beers. Everything was fine but not exceptional. The cheese curds closest to the veggies (interesting take to serve veg with curds) were soggy, which was off putting, and the meatloaf mostly tasted like the bacon it was wrapped in. The beers were good but not my favorites. Wanting to leave room for our burgers, we got to a good stopping point with our appetizers pretty quickly. Then was the waiting game. As mentioned, the place was not busy, which did not explain why our food took almost another 25-30 minutes to get to us nor why our waitress never checked on us in that interim. Both of us were good with one beer, but even if we had wanted to try another, we never got that chance because we were never checked on. My mom finally got up to speak to another waitress about inquiring about our food, as another patron had come in after us and in a timely fashion got their soup, appetizers, and triple patty burger in the expected timed fashion. Meanwhile, we were still waiting. After she inquired, our food suddenly came. The reason we were given for the delay was because we had ordered appetizers and that influenced the time of our main entrees. As mentioned, we're both former waitstaff, so I won't draw on this point any further. We both ordered burgers with the truffle fries, mine specifically a quesadilla burger. Again, the food was fine, though I found the truffle fries nothing special. They were seasoned fries with Parmesan on top, in my opinion. Overall, this was a pretty disappointing experience, perhaps even more so for me because my mom had spoken so highly about them. Reflecting on the prices of the food, I can't say my meal warranted how much we spent, and I won't be rushing to go back for food or beer really. read more

Stopped for a random lunch while doing some shopping. My partner in crime ordered a cheeseburger and fries...She enjoyed them. I ordered the chicken, prosciutto and provolone special; it came with orzo and broccoli. The first chicken order (spoiler) was *very* pink. I asked if they could take it back and blast it with some heat - I didn't ask for a full redo, I get that mistakes happen. They offered to replace the whole meal. By this time we needed to get going, so had it put into a to-go container. I genuinely only ate a few bites before I got deep enough into the chicken to taste, feel and see that it was undercooked. This broke my appetite. Anywho, they charged us full price for the chicken - I wasn't looking for a free meal, but felt like they could have taken a drink off or something. The food is so-so, I didn't love the taste of the jam on the bacon jam burger so that might have been a poor choice from me but the fries are delicious. My good friend & I had dinner on Friday April 9th @ 6p & I am so glad we made reservations online for a table because they are very busy. A tip if you would like to have dinner make sure to make a reservation online ahead of time. The staff was friendly & we had very nice & funny waiter name John who wore glasses (just in case it's more that one). We asked questions about their drinks & menu items & he was very knowledgeable on their in house brew beers & made wonderful food suggestions for us to try. We order LCD cheese for our appetizer which comes in 3 large rolls; fried cheese w/ Buffalo sauce & ranch dipping (wish it was order of 4-6), Jenny Turkey burger w/ fries & The bomb burger w/ fries & we must say everything was so delicious w/ huge portion sizes. All employees wore masks & you can access their menu paperless via the camera on phone if you like. We love the dividers in the restaurant by the tables in the middle of restaurant & bar area's.
