My sister brought me here when I was visiting, and although I was a bit turned off at the idea of a brewery in a mall, I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance when I arrived. I had their DIPA, and my sister had the peanut butter stout. Both were great! We ordered a few appetizers to share, in fact, a few too many - the portion sizes here are huge! Flavor-wise nothing really stood out, just classic bar/pub fare. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but my sister loves it and I wouldn't object if we came back the next time I was in town. read more

Great service and choice of beers! Great break from the shopping and good food as well!

I'm not one to write reviews and certainly don't want to be negative but we've been here since 6 pm, they have poorly managed bar service, food service has been much delayed. They seem concerned about our dissatisfaction however we still haven't been served. And it's clearing out on the patio. Not sure we're revisiting again for dinner but drinks on patio are nice. We want to thank Amanda and Alexis for their outstanding table service and for remedying the situation for them. Thank you. read more

Great lunch specials. Half rack ribs were tender, bbq sauce not so sweet is a bonus. Beef steak sandwich w grilled onions was a winner also. Beer flights and tasters from server were delicious. She was helpful in choosing a beer and very attentive without being intrusive. You can also get beers in cans or crowlers to go. Keylime Pie is a refreshing lime and creamy tasting beer. We went to the Explorium Brewpub on a busy Friday night, probably not the best idea to begin with, but we had an overall satisfactory experience. It was our family's first time to the restaurant located in Southridge Mall, near Macy's. We parked far out in the lot and it seems that the entrance near the Explorium is popular. As we walked in we saw the pub's very attractive outdoor seating area, and on our walk out, we saw several people enjoying the outdoor bar and firepit. The ambience of the pub is very nice, it is stylish in a rustic, dark farmhouse way, with colorful weathered paneling, a lot of wood and nice lighting. I liked spending time here. After a while, I noticed rows and rows of numbered mugs hanging overhead, it must be something for regulars at the Explorium. Our hostess and servers were also very nice and pleasant to work with. Very good service and a plus for this restaurant. My main concern about our visit was the crazy waiting. We arrived around six, had a 45-minute wait for a table, and then were done around 8. Maybe that is on par for a Friday night but since we were dining with teen and tween kids, it was rough to sit at the table for so long and wait and wait. Again, the service was very nice and we were checked on regularly, thank you for that. The Explorium has a large menu, with many attractive sounding dishes I had the pork carnitas, which were good. I am happily eating a leftover one for breakfast today. I did not love the narrow plate they came on, I would have liked more room in case my taco spilled out. My husband had the fish fry, with no real comment to how it was. The kids had the kids chicken, hamburger and cheese pizza, which also had middle of the road reactions. We also had the giant 1 lb pretzel as an appetizer, which is usually a huge hit with the kids (they've loved them at another restaurant), but their reactions were muted, the nacho cheese and mustard sauces were too bold for some of the kids, so a milder dip option might be nice. We will not rush back to Explorium, but I would not avoid it. I would be much more careful about choosing a less busy time to go back. It is a beautiful restaurant, with nice service, and decent food. We just didn't have the wow on a Friday night, because of how slow it was for us. read more

I really enjoy this place and go there frequently. Most of the staff is super nice, with the exception of one female bartender with blue dreads. She is sort of rude, but the excellent food and beverages make up for her. I love the patio there and you can sit out on cooler days, since they have a heat lamp. If you enjoy cigars, you can do a flight of cigars and whiskey. I would recommend bringing your own cigars, as the ones they sell can be a little dry. The chicken and waffles are good, but the waffles are a little dense. Not sure if they are missing baking powder/soda. Otherwise, the Explorium is great! read more

Not impressed with this place at all - food came out cold, I had the tortilla burger which tasted like burnt onions, and my husband had the fish which was good but insanely small for the cost, literally ate it in about 3 bites. That's ridiculous if you ask me. Will not be back.... read more

Went there for my birthday with a group of friends. Great waitress and food. Causal dining more for adults rather than kids.

Great mall based brewpub with a lot of good beers. Not every beer is a home run, but there's plenty of beer to choose from, as well as some guest beers. Most of the food I've tried is very good as well. read more

I so hate to give any establishment a poor review during the pandemic. But: there were a couple fundamental issues that were totally in the staff's control that left us feeling unloved. We arrived an hour before a planned museum visit. Ordered a mojito and dirty vodka martini (down) and put in an order for curds to be sure we had time to eat. Drinks were basically water, meaning no Booze in sight. Curds came out 40 mins later where I happily said we'll need to bag these to go, but please add a quick shot of tequila. They handed me a to-go box, a shot and an "unitemized" credit card ticket for $37....so. Nice bartender, long wait, poor appetizer assistance and shady billing. (They did have cute shirts that said, "please be patient, there's like 3 of us working today". ) so one extra star for their marketing department. read more

Used to love this place for brunch, however after the pandemic they got rid of their brunch menu- which really was their best food- and I've been there enough times now I feel like I can give it a fair review- disappointing and overpriced are the two words that come to mind to describe both locations. Their flatbreads are not crispy, their entree salads come with seemingly a whole head of lettuce and greens, but very skimpy on the protein, especially when it comes to chicken and steak. Both times I got like four fairly thin slices of meat (so maybe a third of a breast and not sure how much of the steak). I would be fine with that as I usually take half my meal home, but with salad, either provide a full portion of meat or make the salad smaller and cut the price to $9.99. Their lunch and dinner food is comparable to any local restaurant with a similar menu, okay, but nothing special. Also, since the patio is canine friendly, keep an eye on your server petting the dogs and then grabbing your food and/or drinks from the bar. Our server pet at least three dogs while making the rounds and then grabbed our drinks from the outdoor bar without washing her hands. read more

The best place in the summer and fall to have a brewery in the area! Love the food, and the beer!

We were very rudely instructed that we cannot social distance at the bar, if you want a social distance outside experience, do not go here. Extremely extremely rude and unprofessional bartender. Will never go back there. read more

I was looking for someplace that I could sit outside and have a beer/food and maybe watch the Bucks game. They have a nice set up for outside dining with many more tables and umbrellas outside now. They even have a bar outside with TVs and I was very excited to sit and have a beer. Unfortunately the bar is smoking area (sign noted it was sponsored by their cigar/pipe club) so the cigarette smoke was unpleasant. I had a Cuban sandwich which was pretty good, seasoned French fries had good flavor. If I am with a group I'd come back and eat at a table outside, but as a single I would not go back to the outside bar area due to cigarette smoke. read more

We were able to make a reservation for five for their Mother's Day brunch on just a couple of days notice (which was fantastic in and of itself). We were promptly seated upon arrival and our server was friendly and helpful. Each of us enjoyed our meals and the drinks (bloody marys and mimosas) were made well. Our total for five people including drinks was under $100 - a bargain if you ask me. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Our group of six decided to try Explorium this past weekend. You aren't able to make same-day reservations after 5pm, but when we called ahead, they allowed us to put our names on the list so when we arrived, we were seated within 5 minutes despite the wait being quoted as more than an hour! Three of us had cocktails, all of which were great and reasonably priced! The other three had a variety of beers and were thankful for being offered tastes before ordering a full pint. Our two appetizers were great - the cheeseboard and the pint glass full of gooey, caramelized BACON. It was so good but too rich to have more than one slice, so order this if you have a big group! Otherwise, you'll end up with cavities for how sweet they are. Our entrees were disappointing. Our burgers were VERY overcooked, to the point of being charred. Because they took such a long time to arrive (about 30 minutes after we ordered), and because our server dropped them off and disappeared for 15 minutes, we just ate them anyway, as we were hungry and needed food in our bellies to soak up the delicious drinks. To summarize: drinks : fantastic! appetizers : great! entrees : pretty bad. service : friendly but very slow. location : inside of a mall on the south side. enough said. read more

Very good food and service. Please call ahead if you are going for dinner. This place is usually packed in evenings.

Beer is really good and food is delicious. Great atmosphere with social distancing and staff that is taking precautions seriously. Thank you!! read more

I was very put-off that this restaurant was in the mall, at first. It has always been my experience that mall restaurants are pretty horrible. The drinks and meal more than made up for the location and proved me wrong. Excellent Beer and Cocktails. The wings were alsoperfectly cooked. Amendment: visited this location a second time, and was extremely disappointed with the meal. The restaurant was operating at full capacity and it was clear they were not prepared. The wings were severely undercooked and the pizza was nearly tasteless. We were told they had a new chef on staff and he was "trying new ideas." Suffice to say, his new ideas aren't great. If something works, don't change it. You're letting your customers down who are returning expecting to receive the same great meal. Likely won't be back. read more

I keep telling my wife I will never come back to this restaurant because the service is so bad as well as unfriendly, but I decided to give it one more shot today. bad decision - again. We arrived when they opened and there was no one to seat us. I had to go find someone. Got seated with menus and after 5 minutes no one took our drink order. The waitress was busy chatting up her co-workers. Then one of the 2 drinks that came was wrong. It's really too bad because their food is good, but the service is consistently awful. I am done with this place finally. read more

My girlfriend and I came to explorium the last night of our trip in Milwaukee. It was a great experience from start to finish. We called ahead and the girl answering the phone was extremely rude and almost felt like we were bothering her when we were asking questions about hours, and stuff during COVID. As soon as we got there we were treated by our waiter Tyler, Who was Just a great guy and server. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and was very nice and uplifting and had a great attitude. We got the cheese curds which were great, I got a Reuben. Reuben was great, a tad too buttery for my liking still and excellent sandwich. The beer is great also. Tyler was running around tending to other tables and still kept a great attitude and service even though they were swamped. Would definitely come back here again! read more

Had heard great things, and our visit did not disappoint! We were put on a list and told they'd call us when the table was ready so we wondered around the mall for a bit. (The restaurant has it's own outside area, but is connected to the mall.) We ventured out to the outside bar despite it being cold and misty outside. The heaters worked pretty well, and I'd love to visit when the weather is better. Great relaxed vibe. The bartenders were helpful and let my friend and I sample a few beers before deciding on what we wanted. They make all of the beer onsite. Lots of varieties for all tastes. I stupidly missed their call to be seated, and realized it 10 minutes after they left me a voicemail! Thankfully, they kept our table. Our server was very busy, but still took time to give us suggestions and answer questions about the menu without us feeling rushed. The food was AMAZING! I want to go back right now. We had the Black Eye Burger, Herder's Pie, and Black Bean Burger. The Cheese & Ale Dip was a hearty appetizer as well. The atmosphere is very relaxed and industrial inside. Very fun atmosphere. We can't wait to go back. Only complaint is that it isn't closer to our house! read more

Don't let The Explorium in a mall deter you. This place is legit. The Wacky Mac was absolutely phenomenal and the beer was great as well. It was PACKED on a Wednesday and they even had cornhole out in the mall hallway since it was too cold outside for it. Definitely worth stopping in! read more

Knocking off a few stars, only because of the strange experience I had. It took a while to be seated by the hostess, and a while more before our waiter came by.. this wasn't a huge deal because of how busy they were. Finally ordered a beer and an app but 10 minutes later the waiter informs us that the kitchen was closing and we were s.o.l. if we wanted dinner.. this was at 9:00 and they were open much later.. they brought our Ruben rolls, but I had to basically shove it down my throat & drown it with the chocolate porter so we could boogy out and find another place to eat. (Ruben rolls were aight; probably better if I had a chance to taste them) Waiter was friendly about everything, and seemed just as confused as we were about the situation. Can't really fault him.. but the whole ordeal was odd and a bit annoying. read more

Phenomenal beers, great food, good staff. You'd never expect to find such an excellent brewery tucked inside a mall. The patio is really nice in the summer, the extensive (20+) tap selection is extremely impressive, and the brewery has an all-around good atmosphere. I wish the location was closer so we could come in more often! They also have beer to go, which is a nice plus. One of our favorites of the new breweries in the Milwaukee area. read more

Great beers, but the food has been hit or miss depending on the day. One item has always been on point: the chicken wings. Actually, never been disappointed by the apps, just had bad luck once or twice with the entrees. The staff has always been attentive, and I like the way they've leveraged the fact that they're in a mall by doing things like indoor bags in the winter. Great place to hang out while you're waiting for someone else to finish up shopping. read more

Beer connoisseurs will love their options. Large selection of tasty menu choices. Good service. Reservations recommended.

Atmosphere 5/5, beautiful place, great addition to Greendale Drink 5/5, vast options for beer, great taste Food 4/5, salad was good, wing special not so much. Too much breading and wings tasted like they'd been sitting a while. Service 2/5, Ashley was just not pleasant from the start. I'm not sure what the problem was because she was so friendly to the people she was working with, just not her customers. No sincerity whatsoever. This was my first time here, but my husbands 4th. He said he has never had this type of service. It was his birthday and we rarely get to go out with having kids. The lady who came up next to me at the bar had the exact same experience. She was NOT happy at all. Melissa brought us our food when it was ready and she was completely friendly. We are not high maintenance and not needy. Just hoping that we do not have to experience that kind of service again. P.S. we do appreciate the friendly cook who offered to pack the birthday cookie up to go when Ashley told us to save our coupon for next time. He took the extra time to make it special. read more

I have been seeing several of my friends checking in at this place for a few months now. I found it at southridge mall today and my wife suggested that we try it out. Service was attentive and friendly and the ambience was pretty cool. They have some really neat old maps on the walls which i was fascinated by. I had the "sconnie" which is a really amped up grilled cheese. Got the golden ale to go with it, which was also delicious. Wife had a killer BLT with avocado. Prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of food. Definitely plan to come back and plan to bring friends so they can check it out too. read more

We had a great time here last night. We had the cheese dip that had great flavor and there was actually more bread and flat chip than cheese. My wife had the bison burger and I had the chicken breast sandwich. Both had great flavor and the burger came medium, which is what my wife ordered. The brew chips were a nice addition to the sandwiches. Our server was super friendly. I'm sorry I don't remember her name. I think it was Megan. And to top it all they had great beer. Definitely a must try. Thank you for a great experience. We'll be back. read more
