We were headed north again, and my partner had not been to this eveready before. We went out of our way so we could have lunch here and she could try it. We were both very impressed. Our server was Trudy and she was wonderful. She was friendly and helpful, she continued to check on our table to make sure everything was OK, just absolutely fantastic service. We did not even need to open the menu. At the very top of the "specials" menu, were two words... "beef goulash." *YES, PLEASE!!!* The goulash was amazing. The noodles were perfectly Al,dente, the beef was so tender, it almost melted like butter in our mouths, And the sauce had a wonderfully deep flavor. It also came with a cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese, to addto it it was a wonderful addition. Neither of us finished our meal I got two meals out of mine, my partner got three out of hers. We were stuffed, but we could not go without a slice of the pie, so we took ours to go. My partner had the lemon meringue, and I had the pecan. Both were absolutely outstanding. My partner said that the lemon filling was nice and tangy, and she liked the fluffyness of the meringue. The pecan pie had plenty of pecans, , and it was so rich. The crust on both slices of pie were absolutely fluffy and light. We had our pie with our leftover goulash, but neither of us could finish our slices of pie, either they were so big. More leftovers for later. For all the food we got, plus the quality, the price was reasonable, and again, I got a military/veterans discount. Thank you again for an amazing meal. read more

Always a fan of this diner but you absolutely need to know what to order. They have outstanding mozzarella sticks, and you can't go wrong with the soups. If anyone knows me, they know that a diner isn't exactly my first choice. Given there are quite a few to choose from in NYC, i just prefer to choose a more defined cuisine restaurant. I feel like the quality in diners aren't the greatest especially 24 hour ones. Well, Everyready sure proved me wrong. This place was fantastic. A whiff of nostalgia as soon as you walked in! Gum machines, newspapers and a claw machine with stuffed animals you've never seen before. You get welcomed in by the most friendliest hostess and waitresses and sit for a few minutes looking at the never ending menu of selections. I finally decided on the corned beef brisket sandwich which was fantastic. Not corn beef from a can, that's for sure!!! The French fries were spot on - crisp, but not too crispy- kind of like a thick version of Burger King's fries. The French onion soup tasted better than the $15 ones in the city! Not salty, broth was good and cheese wasn't too thick. All the portions were generous and for next time, our waitress recommended the Big Apple, a healthier choice! So for starters, it was 11 degrees outside and the diner had no working heat. I wish they told us that upon seating, and we wouldn't have stayed. We were very cold the whole time we were there. Second, the hostess looked like she just couldn't wait to go home. No smile, no words, just walked us to the table and threw the menus on the table. Maybe she was cold too, who knows. Third, the wait for the food was unreasonably long, especially considering how cold it was. Fourth, the place was dirty. Bugs in the light fixtures, grime on the tiles. The food was okay. I had apple and chicken wrap with blu cheese, cranberries, pecans and salad. It was delicious and fresh. My husband's buffalo chicken wrap was not so great. My daughter had a gyro that looked small for the adult sized dish. The bill was pleasantly low, which was a plus. Given the overall experience, we will not be back and do not recommend. read more

Got a bad vibe from this place the moment I walked in. Don't know why. It wasn't excessively dirty. Just meh. Older, generic furnishings. Worn out tables. The young people staffing the place ran the gamut from confused to suspiciously spaced out. The host mistook my family of 6 for another group and led us to a table with 4 chairs, not even noticing the number of people with whom he was currently interacting. We were seated next to a woman with a dog. She was not handicapped. Granted, the dog was well behaved, but to allow a dog in a restaurant is absolutely disgusting. Is this a policy of this diner to allow animals, or were the young employees just too apathetic or intimidated to do anything about it? I should have walked out. The setting sun was radiating through the windows right in our faces, and pulling down the inadequate shades didn't do a thing. Our waiter was wearing a knit hat and acted like a stereotypical pot head, forgetting things we told him 1 minute before, bringing the wrong drinks, getting confused over the food he was bringing us, etc. My sandwich was above average, I admit, and my family had no complaints about the food. My glass of coke cost over $4, hilariously. So, verdict: food good, service questionable, sanitary level: poor if it involves eating amongst animals, vibe mysteriously bad. read more

I love the Eveready Diner; the moral of the story is: Go to the one in Hyde Park. Everything I ordered was not great, especially compared to the same items at the Hyde Park Diner by the same name. The chili was so salty that it was inedible. Maybe it was the milkshake machine's calibration, but the milkshake had a glob of ice cream in the middle of it, so it made it impossible to drink for quite a long time until the I cream had a chance to melt. The (tap) water tasted terrible. I love disco fries, and they tasted OK but seemed like they were overcooked. The waitress was accommodating. The decor was bright & clean. read more

Was in Brewster all week and this place earned my business, twice -- once for breakfast and once for lunch. The usual large and comprehensive menu. Absolutely loved the giant statue which reminded me of Bob's Big Boy (at least that's what it resembles!)! Sorry Eveready! LOTS of staff running around so there was never a problem, with anything, once seated. We kind of lingered after lunch and no one rushed us which was appreciated. Ordered two salads (which were a bit 'different' from standard choices), which were HUGE! We could've split 'one' had we been able to settle on the same thing. Definitely took home, as did a few people I noticed. This is a cool place. Prices: fair & reasonable. Only went 4-stars because the coffee was always tasteless and just warm. Stopped by for a quick bite before catching my train. I had one of my favorite breakfast for dinner options, the waffles with strawberries and cream. These were no ordinary belgian waffles. They were magical. Super fluffy and more like a baked good than a waffle. I Thought maybe they were one of the malted waffles but when I googled that they described them as not this. This place has really changed. We came in for lunch and they literally nickel and dime you. Last time I was here, I ordered soup and got it served in a small mug. How cheap and thrifty is that?!? The salad portion is large (should be considering how much they charge) but sadly the bacon was so hard and dried out that if you weren't careful, you would chip your tooth. They give you a small little ounce cup of salad dressing for that whole salad portion and then charge you $1 if you need extra. Obviously, you will need extra because the salad is large and dry. This is a total money grab. We spoke to the "manager" about charging extra for dressing. He got defensive and then blamed it on the owner. So, the owner is greedy. Not sure what he is investing the extra money in? It certainly is not the quality of this food. Let's talk about the corned beef, it was dried out like shoe leather. I will say that the French fries are very good so I will give 2 stars. The potato salad on the other hand featured some very thick cubes and the flavor was meh. This was my go to diner for years but I am so disappointed in the food and the little hidden sneaky upcharges. Stopped in this popular 1950s-esque diner on our way to PA. Highly recommend the homemade onion rings -- completely fresh and handmade. The milkshakes are made with three scoops of ice cream. We ordered the Oreo and Pineapple; both of which were quite sizeable and delicious. The pineapple one was made using vanilla ice cream and a pineapple jam, so it has little chunks of pineapple. We also ordered the spicy shrimp wrap, corn beef Reuben, and the Souvlaki pita. All of which were great! The Reuben came with a lot meat, could almost make a second sandwich with it! Our server was attentive and proactive, yet allowed us pleasant space when we needed it. She brought us a little plate with accoutrements for our meal (coleslaw, pickles, bbq sauce) without us having to ask. Overall, would definitely recommend. So this is actually one of my go-to diners in the area, my favorite being Daily Planet on 55. I have enjoyed just about every meal I have ordered here, the fried chicken is on point there by the chicken and waffles is always a good choice, burgers are delicious and it's nice you get a few onion rings. Regarding the sandwiches my favorite is a Santa Barbara, the salads are a nice size and if you're feeling healthy they're a good choice.. only thing I've ever returned is the chili, in my opinion well I won't try to describe it I'll just leave you a picture, but it also has no flavor.. the staff is professional and friendly there may be one that likes to talk and will take her time getting back to you but overall good service... I prefer the original location near Poughkeepsie but this one hits the spot for when I'm feeling nostalgic for college diner eats. I'm a fan of their breakfasts and burgers. They keep it simple and tasty. Servers are friendly. The only thing is that this location isn't the cleanest. Their bathroom smells and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages! The pancakes used to be better, but idk what happened‍. I mean overall the customer service was good, and food came in pretty quick. I spent the day out with my mom and we decided to get some dinner before heading home. This diner was right off of the highway and I've tried another location, which was really good. We decided to stop in. The interior looked like your typical diner and it wasn't busy at all. Customers were also seated pretty far apart, which I liked and everyone wore masks. Our server was really nice and there were so many options on the menu. They offered gluten free buns so naturally, I ordered a burger. The burger was really delicious and the food was ready in a short period of time. That was great because we were both starving! The presentation on the plate was also very pleasing to look at. This place is just plain filthy. Dust an inch thick on everything. Rotten tomatoes on an over priced burger. Their cakes are purely for show, nothing but layers of sugar, no flavor, and astronomically priced. Two burgers and two slices of cake came to nearly $60! CHICKEN FEET! I ordered the express lunch with a turkey sandwich and chicken noodle soup. The sandwich just had turkey and lettuce and the bread was extremely dry. The salad that came with it had a black hair in it. I had to dip it into the soup to even be able to swallow it! The soup was great.... until it wasn't. Have been here a few times, what happened?, is everyone smoking in the back? Very disappointing meal. Ordered a Roast Beef Club and a side of their " Special Mac & Cheese". Out came a Turkey club and what looked like bland/gray Kraft Elbow Macaroni that was way too al'dent'e, watery and not cheezy at all. While I ate some of that, my Roast Beef sandwich was remade, and by that time my fries on that plate were cold. I was with a guest so thought not to complain at all. Had I been alone, I would have left as soon as they brought out the wrong sandwich. My last few meals out at various places have been disappointing, and these places wonder why they fold?
