I have been wanting to try some new places in the area and Karen's came highly recommended! We will quickly greeted and told to sit anywhere. Our drink orders were taken almost right away. I had an omelet a with spinach and feta and my friend had blueberry pancakes. Everything tasted pretty good. The waitresses were friendly and fast! I recommend a stop- I saw an article online that said it may be up for sale and I hope that isn't true! Our total bill was $45 which is more than I usually pay for breakfast, but the food was made to order and the portion sizes were decent! read more

After a morning of crow hunting w best friend and old crow, Pots & Pans, stopped in to Karen's for lunch. We never pass up a chance to try a different diner, and the many cars in the parking lot was a welcoming sign. We seated ourselves at a table and our waitress, Candy, supplied our menus and took our orders. For me, it was a turkey club and French fries w brown gravy. For the old crow, it was a tuna sandwich, also ff w brown gravy. My turkey club was just right; hitting all the right notes. And the brown gravy was also perfect. Came in a cup, so allowed me to dunk the fries in it and also spoon some on the sandwich!!!! Pots also said his tuna and fries were very good. Candy checked on us several times. When you have waffle cravings and everyone else in Pawling is closed you can always count on Karen's. They've stayed open during covid and have been great for takeout. I can only vouch for takeout service and the Belgian waffles. Sooo yummy! Reasonable price and they make them JUST right. Thanks for staying open and satisfying my waffle tooth! read more

Karen's is the kind of neighborhood place you go to for breakfast or lunch. The food is straightforward, fresh and delicious. My family has gone there for a very long time; tasted pretty much everything on the menu and have never had a disappointing meal. Seriously. The ambiance is very simple and clean. I don't like this place . The food doesn't taste like diner food. It taste more like like reheated backyard diner food. The service sucks. I don't know about the other times but when I went there, I didn't like it. It took forever just to get the bill. The ambience is kind of weird. This spot is usually packed and there's always a wait. They have so much land and space, you would think they would expand. The food was good, compared to your options in the area. my only complaint is there was a tiny hair in my food on the plate of my eggs. I was super annoyed because i lost my appetite and i was really excited to try this place. i'll probably go back just because the options in the area are limited. Was so grateful for hot coffee, outdoor seating with my doggy, AND a delicious breakfast. The good attitude of the sole waitress who was the only one that could get to work today was a blessing after we were slammed with a tropical storm. Came here with my family and was very pleased. The waiter was very sweet and checked up on us often! They were a bit busy but still handled everything well! I had their waffles and their sizes were large (enough that I took some home to finish up)! The waffles were similar to Belgian waffles and it had a great texture and flavor!! We moved here from Florida and we love Karen's. Karen's is local hardworking family business. I will always support that. The food is a great value and quality! I was ready to overlook the paper cups of coffee (what's diner coffee without the thick ceramic mug?) and the "cooked to order" corned beef that clearly came from a can. Until I overheard the owner, Karen, take a call for a reservation for three. First she informed the caller that she "gets a lot of crank calls" so she required a credit card to hold the reservation. Ok I get it. But for a table of three? At a diner? She rolled her eyes then hung up. Caller called back with a few moments with debit card - which she manually took down all of the information for, including telling the caller where to find the ccv number. She hung up pleasant enough and then announced to her staff "that's a fake number. I know it. I'm not saving a f'ing table for them". My heart sunk as I imagined this could have been my 83 year old mother - who would have called from her ancient flip phone with it's weird caller ID number - making sure there was room for her and a couple of slower moving friends. It wasn't my mom, but it sure could have been. Kindness and human decency go a long way. I won't be back, read more

Really nice ambience, very dinner feel with nice chilled room and diner Esque music. My meal was $8 was good for the price. Food took 12 minutes. They have a lot of free parking. Came to Karens Diner for brunch with my daughter we both ordered breakfast. Both my daughter and I had omelets that came with home fries and we shared a short stack of french toast. The home fries they serve us were brunt and the French toast was made from white bread plus we found a hair on it. The service was ok but I will not be coming back here again. read more

I've lost count of how many times I ate here when I lived in NY. It's typical diner fare albeit with a much smaller menu. Their daily specials are good value and its a great place to take visitors. The staff at Karen's Restaurant is definitely care-in'. We went for breakfast and enjoyed delicious hot coffee and eggs with toast. The blueberry pancakes were delicious - soft, thin, and generously filled with fresh and gently tart fruit. Our waitress was friendly and politely chatty. Note - it's cash only, but they have an ATM in the back. Very clean. Extensive menu with some more creative options as well as the standard breakfast fare. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Food wasn't too bad for a small place. Definitely had better. During these times with Covid EVERYONE should be wearing masks. I went to pick up a takeout order and of all people the cook was not wearing a mask. I actually had to wait like 5 minutes for my order and during the whole time she never put her mask on while she was cooking the food. I definitely will not be going back!!!! read more

I ordered the Manhattan Chopped Cobb Salad ($18.75) which wasn't bad at all. But what makes it Manhattan??? I was impressed that the portion size was humongous, so much so that I couldn't eat all of it. For some reason, our host sat us next to a large boisterous party celebrating a birthday. And our server was very nice but scarce when we were ready to order. The menu has a thousand options so you're bound to find something that your stomach wants. Bring cash if you can!
