Amazing new restaurant. Food is great and can't wait for the porch to open in the good weather this spring/summer.

We had a reservation for 4 people on Valentine's Day and the restaurant did not disclose on their website the menu was going to a $120 per person pre-fixe. Our reservation was made weeks in advance! Information such as a force pre-fixe should be posted weeks ahead of time and not the day of. We were not the only customers that walked out. This truly disappointing, as we were looking to try the new restaurant. It's understandable that your menu changes daily to locally sourced ingredients. However, do not post a pre-fixe menu the day of and expect your customers to pay $120 each! read more

Very pretty restaurant with friendly, inviting staff. Good drink options and fun, changing food menu. I really like the farm to table ingredients from local businesses. Brunch Service was quick and food was tasty. Some items were a bit pricey, especially the sides, but entrees were reasonable. I'd be interested in stopping by for dinner. read more

We were in the area so made reservations started with a Cesar salad I didn't like like it but not because it was bad I just didn't like it husband ate the whole thing. We went here last night for our first & unfortunately our last time....which is disappointing since I drive by everyday. By 8:15pm they were out of 3 main entrees one being the hamburger.... On a Friday night! My drinks were good; although they came less filled every time. The pizza we had was not great. Just disappointing. read more

3 3/4 stars. New inviting restaurant. Open kitchen with a nice bar. But let's get to the important stuff..the food. My steak was pretty good as it was for two and at $88, a good deal. Came w frites. Was surprised no mash option. My wife had the chicken piccata. She complained that it wasn't really piccata. It didn't have the lemon and caper acidity common for the dish. She said the chicken was cooked well. The other friend at the table had manicotti which she said she enjoy. Bread pudding dessert was very good with a crème brûlée style caramelized top. Nice. Service not very good. We couldn't reach our iced wine bucket and no one came to pour. Took forever to get a menu. Not Good. read more

Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is contemporary chic. This recently opened and trending restaurant offers a unique blend of cocktails, appetizers, entrees and desserts that you won't find everywhere else. Experienced bartenders that know how to make a martini i.e. "stirred, not shaken" and a kitchen led by Chef Harris - a Culinary Institute of America alumni, pretty well guarantee a memorable gastro experience. One thing I noticed immediately was that the ice used in their cocktails is made from purified water using a reverse osmosis process that removes all taste from the ice leaving only the tastes your cocktail is supposed to provide. There is plenty of parking, and everything is handicap accessible. We both had the Swordfish which we both agreed was excellent, prepared and presented beautifully. I got a side dish of polenta, and the wife got a side of broccoli rabe, both of them were very good. We split a bread pudding dessert that had a unique bruleed crust on top that provided an unusual texture. Along with dessert I enjoyed a fantastically high quality coffee with an Italian coffee liquor and whipped cream, invented by our mixologist Ethan . The service was great and the crowd was friendly, sophisticated and inclusive. The restrooms were clean and fresh. They have two large outdoor seating areas, and two large catering rooms with a separate bar. For a restaurant that's been open only a few weeks they appear to have things well under control. Went on their second night open and it was a great experience, from food to ambiance to service. This restaurant was well worth the wait. The manager was kind enough to show us the upstairs event space which is a great spot for showers, meetings, etc. The menu revolves and is focused on hyper local Hudson Valley meat and produce. We were a party of four and weren't impressed enough to go back for a long time. My lasagna looked and tasted similar to reheated, leftover piece of pizza. It was served in an oval shaped dish with one layered strip of a pasta noodle. A dash of sauce, little if any cheese, and a few extra half strips of noodles. The lasagna was $24 and should have run the same price of a dried up pizza slice. The noodles lined on the bottom were stuck and burned in the bottom of dish. The extra layer of noodles were flared up and burned to a crisp. I needed a magnifying glass to find any cheese. This was the new vogue recipe for $24 and they should be embarrassed. The dinner rolls for the table were cold. We waited a long time to be served. If we didn't enjoy our friends company, we would have paid for our drinks and left without ordering. We will try it again in another year with inexpensive items for dinner after checking reviews. I was not impressed and will stick with my favorite McKinney&Doyle. At least I feel content with their delicious Wagu Burger for the same amount of money as the dried out, disgusting tasting, unappetizing dinner. read more

Cornerstone is clearly turning the corner as their soft opening in early January is progressing nicely (a few things on the menu are 'coming soon'-- eh, that's fine. We can wait!) Service was on task and friendly and all the dishes were superior. We had the rice balls, wedge salad, pizza and salmon: all excellent. The dining room set up is pleasant and efficient with a bar that's off to the side and separated by a half wall. The ciabatta rolls could have been warmed and would have been a nice addition to go along with the marinated olives already on each table but Im sure they'll get there. Overall it has a nice feel, just a smidge upscale enough to feel like it's special but not too much so that it's not comfortable. We enjoyed it and will be back. read more

Went for Brunch on Sunday with my wife and small kids and the food and drinks were fantastic. The staff really took care of us and were very attentive to whatever we needed. The food was tremendous and you can tell they are very focused on sourcing local ingredients. The pizza was cooked perfectly in the beautiful front of house penny-tile clad pizza oven. The pancake with accoutrements was a highlight. The truffle egg toast had the best scrambled eggs I've had in years. Even my almost four year-old daughter's pasta, a house-made cavatelli, was top notch. I think it's the most food she has ever ate in a single sitting, which is quite the accomplishment. There wasn't a scrap of food left on the table when we're done. Great culinary addition to the area, will be back asap! read more

Disappointing. The menu is small and the food was fine but underwhelming. It's new so maybe those things will get better with time and feedback. Here's ours: I hope you focus on a big and inventive pizza menu for that wood burning oven, amp up local offerings and make sure the servers can tell us about it, give it the Hudson Valley vibe it's sadly lacking. And how is there no local New York wine on the menu? So many wineries to choose from. More disappointing is the ambience. Historic town, next to fascinating old Cemetary plot and nothing inside that said you're in the Hudson. I don't understand what they were going for but overall felt like we time traveled to the 1990s anywhere in the country. Looks nothing like the pictures. It's painted black inside, ceiling too. The giant fireplace (non-working) could be a cool if featured but there's no warmth to the decor. No white tablecloths the night we were there. LED lights on the table felt cheap, TVs over the bar. The coffee station is visible in the middle of the dining room, the rug and single chair in the lobby look cheap and smells like sewage in that lobby. Our server was competent and friendly and we didn't wait long for food. But we asked a lot of questions about the menu and she didn't know much. I'm sure that will improve over time but takes the fun out of ordering. I want to be supportive of a new business, just really surprised cornerstone didn't lean into all the history surrounding them. I expected a little Paul Revere and George Washington vibe. read more

Had lasagna that was truly awful. Two noodles layers with cheese spread thin between them. Barely enough sauce to cover the noodles. Cold rolls and a beautiful unlit fireplace. Cornerstone was lively and packed. Given that this restaurant has been officially open for just a few days, I thought the service was great. They had plenty of staff to make up for any opening week issues and they did a good job of making sure we had everything we had when we needed it. The food was excellent and just what this area needs. The menu looks deceptively small with a few items in each category, but it really covered everything you would want - salads, pizza, pastas, meat, fish and a delicious burger. Went to the long awaited official opening night of Pawling's newest restaurant Cornerstone which is located at the spot where McGrath's once stood. We had a 5:15 reservation and we arrived 8 minutes late. When we opened the door to the lobby which is spacious and elegant there was an odor that can only be described as a septic system, both my wife and noticed it immediately. We were greeted by the hostess who checked our reservation and said she would check for our table and would be right back. A moment later a gentleman came to the hostess station, asked if we were being helped and I said yes and that the hostess was checking for our table. He said he would seat us and promptly did. There were a few other guests already seated in our section. There were a small bowl of mixed olives in olive oil on the table. Then we sat and waited and waited and waited some more. In that time a party of 8 were seated next to us , a party of 2 behind myself and another party of 2 behind my wife. Busboys milled about passing by tables. A server went to the table of eight then another server to the table behind Laura. My wife asked the server of the large table why no one had been to our table as we were seated for 20 minutes at this point and we hadn't seen our server as of yet. She apologized and said she would address it . Shortly afterwards our server arrived with cold ciabatta rolls and asked for our drink order. After sitting for 1/2 hour we finally had our drinks which amounted to a Diet Coke. The gentleman who seated us, Joe, came over and apologized and stated that everything from here on out would be smooth sailing. We placed our dinner order an appetizer of rice balls , a salad with grilled chicken and a cheeseburger. The rice balls arrived within 10 minutes and they were good in my opinion. Then we waited and waited and waited . We watched the large party of 8 served their meals, the 2 other parties of 2 served their meals and there we sat on Skip Island. Our server came by once in this time to clear bread crumbs off the table which had butcher paper over the white linen table cloth. Then we waited . The couple seated behind Laura arrived a full 20 minutes after us . Were seated served and out the door and we were still waiting for our dinner . We decided to leave after waiting nearly 1 and 1/2 hours for a burger and a salad topped with chicken. The manager Joe, came by and we told him that we were done waiting and he offered to have the executive chef speak with us. We waited an additional 10 minutes and got up to leave. The chef met us in the lobby and apologized, offered to pack up our meals to go as they were ready and they would be comped. Joe had offered the same. We explained we wouldn't accept the meal free of charge and after an 1 hour and 40 minutes of waiting we were done. The executive chef offered a gift card we refused . Why would anyone want to go back? To sit and be an audience member to watching others dine ? Also, for the record the menu was very limited , the fireplace was not lit ( it was 10 degrees out last night) definitely not the way we wanted our first night out of 2026 to be. read more
