So, while we were here in NY we stopped for my sugar low here. At first we were put off a tad by the service which was very slow. The couple next to us even left before the waiter came. But he did and he was very nice and helpful. It is a cozy little cottage redone into a restaurant, very professionally. The food was worth everything!! It was awesome-I got the burger of the month-Creole Burger with no cheese cause -issues you know, but it was one of the best I've ever had! Honey got a texas burger and he agreed!! Finally was able to come back and try some new menu items! We really enjoyed the potato chip nachos, we felt it could have a better presentation but it made up in taste. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches and their uniqueness. The sweet potato fries come with like a sweet honey dipping sauce which is really yummy. We just returned from the Patterson Carriage House and have been coming here since it first opened. Ordered 2 NY strips which were VERY tough! Did not send back to the kitchen for another piece- feared the same outcome. Thought the waiter would have compensated a small amount off the check which came to $119.00, Expensive meal for the pet!! I love the food and the bartenders are amazing. But I can't deal with the lack of attention to things that matter. Please clean behind the bar. And don't tell me that you do. The dust around the refrigerator that has not been cleaned in forever will drive you nuts. Food under the chairs and chairs never wiped down.. tell you what go tonight and I bet the food on the tv and the mirror will be there a week from now. But one finally parted her lips to just say it would be 45-60 minutes. Came here for dinner with my family just to go somewhere new! It's a somewhat small but cozy restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio (tasted good), calamari for appetizer, and for entrees, we did the wild alaskan salmon, the smokehouse burger, tuscan burger and au poivre burger. Menu is pretty pub food like options, but they were all sooo good! All 4 of us loved and enjoyed our entrees. The prices are also reasonable. We had a great time. Not a place to order take out from. The bartender ignored me for over twenty minutes as I waited to pay for a takeout order that was called in 45 minutes earlier. I asked him three times to pay since he was able to get the checks for two women next to me, I assumed he would go to me next. No, he ignored me again. I even asked a lady who seated a father and his son to check out and she coldly responded, the bartender will do it. When I saw the bartender again and said, hi can I please check out his response was "I'm serving the people in here". Never got the food and left. read more

Oh no... what happened?! Someone else must've been in the kitchen on this visit and the food wasn't nearly as well prepared as on our last visit. I'll start with the good. The pork chops were again fabulous, nicely brined, flavorful and juicy, served with beautifully fried, battered pickled jalapeno and I think peppadew peppers. The accompanying broccoli rabe, which was perfectly prepared last time around, was undersalted, underseasoned, and a touch undercooked this time -- just ok. Buttery mashed potatoes, scratch made to judge by the texture, remained delicious. The skirt steak was still impressively sized on this visit, though it came more well done (medium-well done / well done) than the medium rare we requested, and was undersalted and underseasoned this time around. The accompanying broccoli was similarly flawed, undersalted, underseasoned, and cooked a touch too hard for our family's tastes. The salmon was, in short, a bummer. We probably should've known better than to have ordered it given prior bad experiences with fish and seafood at this restaurant, but our last excellent meal here made us throw caution to the wind. The generously portioned fillet was nicely prepped with crisp, pan-fried edges, and there was a pretty pat of compound butter served atop. But unfortunately, the fish was far past peak freshness and quite fishy, just not enjoyable to eat. The bed of quinoa pilaf it came on was great in concept, with sauteed peppers, onions, and spinach in the mix -- but it was, like the other vegetables we had tonight, undersalted and underseasoned. The pilaf was also unpleasantly oily. A children's grilled cheese was impressively pan fried to a beautiful golden brown, but both the sandwich and the accompanying fries had a hint of rancid oil. Our server this time around was very pushy with drinks and cocktails, and seemed shocked when we said we typically selected our food before matching a wine to it. We'll probably give this restaurant another try or two given the convenient location. But I'll no longer be able to reference the perfectly prepared vegetables we had on our last visit as the metric for area restaurants. You're probably safe if you stick with the meat and potatoes. read more

Stopped by a week ago for lunch with a friend and decided to bring my family here for dinner. We were seated quickly after they cleaned the table thoroughly. We started with the truffle chips and calamari appetizer. The chips are so good. The calamari was good too, but beware it's a little spicy. I had the scallops for my entree and my husband and son had the Chipotle chicken panini. Everything was delicious. Our drinks were good too. Service was friendly and attentive. Did not like it. Had a shrimp wrap which was like a hot pocket with everything in it dripping out...yuk! Onion rings were tasteless, the best thing was the tap beer. Service was so so, was not asked if we wanted desert or coffee. I still gave 20% tip, since it was not the servers fault that the food was not good. read more

We loved our stay at the inn- so cozy and beautiful decor! What a great job updating and such quality bedding & linens- slept like a Queen! The hostess took care of our every need. The menu is broad, but not overwhelming. My absolute favorite is the arugula salad with grilled chicken. The almonds, strawberries, and goat cheese just pair so well together. Steve and Zoli make the best CH margaritas, hands down. Fair warning though- they go down way too easy! I came here with some work friends to celebrate a birthday and the donation of a camel to our organization. We had a great time. The restaurant was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the waiters were friendly. I enjoyed my visit to the restaurant, and they do have gluten and dairy-free options. Although they were difficult to get in touch with over the phone and I did order gluten-free bread that had never arrived at the table. The restaurant is pricey, but the food is really good and definitely worth it. I look forward to my next visit and hope to introduce it to my family and friends in NYC. read more

It was my husband's birthday and we were a party of 6 @ 7:00. It was the worst experience. We were the only table remaining at 7:40 and they started cleaning to close. Running around taking everything off the tables, moving all the bar stools and tables to clean the floors. They kept coming to the table rushing us to finish eating. The waitress Julianna was starring us down it was ridiculous. When we ordered coffee and a dessert one worker got annoyed. The food wasn't good and over priced. My advice is find somewhere else to eat. Town Square Pizza has the nicest staff, great food, and prices. We should have went there but our daughter was home from school and she hasn't been to this Carriage House big mistake!! read more

I would give this place 3.5 stars. We were driving by and stopped for dinner. The service was great and quick. Server Madison was very attentive. We had mixed experience with the food. We had NY strip steak, Mushroom onion swiss burger and carriage house signature burger. - Mushroom swiss burger was really good and perfectly cooked. Onions were perfectly caramelized and generous amount of cheese and fries. - Signature carriage house burger was really dry, it could've been much better. - NY strip was not seasoned at all and the sauce was really messy and bland. For a $30 steak that's a disappointment. On top of that we asked med rare but our steak was a bit overcooked. Mashed potato was supposed to be garlic buttery according to menu but it was plain. Other than that the sides of waffle fries, truffle oil fries and spinach was good. All the food portion was big enough. read more

My husband and I went out for an early dinner. We asked to be seated outside and the bartender named Steve handed me the menus to walk outside on our own. There was only one other family dining at that time, so it wasn't like he was overwhelmed with customers. Eventually, he made his way outside to ask us want we would like at which time, I asked about the specials. He supposedly went to the kitchen to find out and returned to our table only speaking to my husband and never making eye contact with me, even though I was the one who asked about it. So rude! We couldn't figure out what the problem could possibly be. Did he resent us being there early and having to serve us before the waitstaff arrived? We have become regular customers and always enjoyed the food and the waitstaff are always so kind l, so we were really shocked at this rude behavior. We took this horrible treatment like a champ and never said a word to him. In fact, we left a generous tip because the food is always delicious and wanted to make sure the other staff/chef is compensated. We really were looking forward to a nice dining experience and unfortunately, we didn't get one. It was very unpleasant and unexpected. I loved the choices on the menu. We decided on the pot roast sandwich and short rib grilled cheese! Both were awesome!!!! The staff has a little bit of an attitude though, that makes them come off as rude. Tried this place for the first time. Black and tan sandwich, and short rib melt were delicious. Steak for the sandwich was actually cooked to order, and so tender. Short rib was perfection.
