Awesome restaurant with a great variety of food for even a picky eater. I had the Ruben and fries which was delicious. The wife had the Chicken Marcella which she loved. Prices are very reasonable and a great assortment of adult beverages. Great for kids with seating indoors and outdoors. Highly recommended!!!

Found this great spot hiding on a hill top in Carmel. Great family eatery!! A casual fun place with cold beer, nice cocktails, and great food. Place has charm and from what I hear they host so very cool events. The back patio complete with waterfall is absolutely adorable. Look, this is not fine dinning or anything fancy..it's a cool, come as you are type of place with friendly staff and nice clientele. If you find yourself in this beautiful town, definitely stop in for a nice drink and a great burger..ENJOY!!

Nice place. Searching Google for a local place to go, I came across "McCarthy's Grill House" and it looked interesting enough to try. For some reason on Yelp it's "McCarthy Family Eatery" - so not sure which one it's supposed to be. Once inside, it looks like an old school bar and pub, but there's booths and another room with plenty of tables. The place has a nice feel. There's a pool table, an old school arcade game, and just a generally comfortable feel. The menus looked good, was varied enough, and most of the prices were reasonable. The waiter was friendly enough. They put out a bowl of chips and water upon sitting. Be careful not to eat too much of the chips, as they may fill you up before the actual food comes. I always order a bacon cheeseburger when I come to a new place simply because I like it and it's an easy dish, that if the place messes that up then I won't be looking to try anything else. I ordered the French Onion soup, which was good. My companion ordered the Lobster Bisque - which I tried a little of and it was very good. The burger itself was good and cooked correctly, though I wasn't a fan of the poppy seed roll used as a bun. A roll as a bun is fine, but perhaps a heads up that it's a poppy seed roll. I'm not a fan of poppy seeds at all, but it wasn't the end of the world. The fries were fine. There's outdoor seating for when the weather gets nicer. The parking lot is ok enough. It's up a long hill, so drive fast enough and you may miss the turn into this place. Overall a nice place and I would come here again for sure.

The food and service are okay here but it could use an influx of youth. The Ambiance is a little outdated.

But it was a good meal. The Cottage Pie was pretty good..again, I prefer the classics so I would rather a Shepherd's Pie ( with seasoned ground lamb and not beer ), but it was still a nice comfort meal. The decor is cute..I miss the dim light and warm / dark woods and colors that you expect in an Irish pub. I met the owner on the first visit and she is very nice and I wish her great luck..but the kids who work there have very little passion or personality unfortunately. This really is a nice little place and I hope it succeeds..but it has a few up hill issues..first is its smack in the center of many already establishment great restaurants the other big one is this: 75% of people who live up here moved from Southern Westchester or the Bronx..what does that mean? ..it means we all grew up on Rorys!!! Decided to have Irish food since that was the menu for the night. My friend had the shepherds pie and it was HORRIBLE. If you could find a carrot you were lucky never mind any of the other veggies. The potatoes were little scoops plopped around the top, no cheese. Bland and horrible. Worse Shepherds Pie ever. I had the corned beef reuben and the corned beef looked like scraps that should have been used on nachos instead of a sandwich. There were some strips of CB with sauerkraut and the swiss made the rest of the sandwich OK. Would go back for the music but would not have food here. Waitresses were not as attentive as they should have been as we had empty glasses of Guiness and needed refills and had to wait along time to get them to swing by. Excuse twice was the Guiness kicked? I can see 1 time, but not 2 in a short time. If you want authentic Irish fare go somewhere else.

We got seated right away, but it was busy for the time (mid afternoon). Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. The French onion soup hit the spot and was some of the best I've ever had. Rich beef broth, tender onions, nice and hot, and of course perfectly melted cheese. We shared a patty melt with onion rings. The patty melt was overdone - we ordered medium but it was beyond well done. Still flavorful but would have preferred it as ordered. They had a large patio which must be nice in the summer. A lot of the photos showed it being in a shopping mall, but those must be old, because it is a standalone restaurant. We will definitely go back when in the area, especially when we want French onion soup!
