We had roast pork with mashed potatoes and gravy with apple sauce. We arrived early about 4pm, service was good and server was great. It started getting busier around 5 and quickly filled up. The atmosphere was ok. Nothing special but they did have a nice outdoor space. It is not at the mall shown in the photos. Would go again if in the area. read more

The food was amazing! Great portions and the prices were very reasonable! Outdoor patio was super calm and we caught what i think it's the last warm day before fall comes back again! Our server was friendly and very attentive. Will definitely come back again. A beautiful jewel in Holyoke read more

Cute and cozy pub. We went the day after thanksgiving, after going to the Feztival of Trees in West Springfield. It was snowing and we wanted some French onion soup to warm us up! We got seated right away, but it was busy for the time (mid afternoon). Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. The French onion soup hit the spot and was some of the best I've ever had. Rich beef broth, tender onions, nice and hot, and of course perfectly melted cheese. We shared a patty melt with onion rings. The patty melt was overdone - we ordered medium but it was beyond well done. Still flavorful but would have preferred it as ordered. They had a large patio which must be nice in the summer. A lot of the photos showed it being in a shopping mall, but those must be old, because it is a standalone restaurant. We will definitely go back when in the area, especially when we want French onion soup! read more

If going for drinks and appetizers on the patio, I would say go ahead. The food, however, is solidly mediocre, and I won't need to go back again. read more

The entire fish dinner was not up to par. Dry stringy fish, the fries had no flavor and, was truly off putting. This seems harsh ,but it is what it is. read more

The rudest and slowest bartender I've ever had. She said her name was Julie. She was arguing and insulting staff members right in front of the bar. Not to mention my Guinness took 15+ minutes because she was busy bullying the older server. My food was quick but mediocre. I got the New Yorker and it seemed like they were trying to negate the fact that it's bottom of the barrel meat by throwing about a pound on it. Overall a horrible experience. Was expecting a hole in the wall Irish pub. Ended up spending $50+ on a sandwich and two beers. All the while the bartender was fighting with the staff in front of everyone. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. The food used to be much better. Our last visit in mid-May was completely unimpressive. All the food seemed to be "food service" fare. The burgers certainly didn't seem fresh. We had the appetizer pretzel that was $12 and came out on the big "show-stopping" hook. The bottom was almost burnt, it had no salt on it and absolutely ZERO flavor. The mustard and cheese sauce that they gave you to dip it in was tasteless. I'm pretty sure the cheese sauce was from a can and the mustard was just plain yellow mustard. Gross. The only redeeming thing about the meal was my chili..I'd say that was very good. Everything else was subpar. Service was friendly, but we didn't really require a lot. It was over $100 for four of us to have a light lunch and only one person had an alcoholic beverage. So it's pretty expensive for midgrade pub food. The atmosphere has a cozy vibe and I'm sure when their patio is open, people will enjoy that. But I certainly won't be back anytime soon. read more

Best Corned Beef Reuben I've ever had. It was recommended to me by our waitress. My only complaint is that the music was too loud for the size of the room...other than that, very enjoyable. read more

Ate at Donovan's 2 days in a row (28 & 29 Apr 25). Both times were a good experience. I like the way they have the restaurant, bar, and outdoor seating set up. Big time improvement over the last time I was there (Broadview 30+ years ago). The chili was so good the first time I ordered it again. The rest of the menu looked good. Service was efficient. Draft beer list was adequate. Next time back in Holyoke I will eat there again. read more

Nice place with a good menu, food & service. WARNING: If you don't want to eat dinner listening to LOUD live music, make sure to call before you go ... music was good but LOUD and they play all through dinner ... relentless ... could not hear the person sitting next to me. We got our food to go. read more

Waiting for Town Fair to diddl daddl with my car. Walked around the dead mall and decided to sit down for a bite to eat. Place is always been here since I could remember so have to assume this is a good spot. I am definitely stuffed to say the least. The French onion soup is very hearty. Or more broth than filling but I did enjoy the onions that were a little bit thicker and larger. I did order the keg burger, ordered it rare which was a first for me, typically I order medium rare but last time I bought a burger from a restaurant medium rare it came out more medium sell figured I'd try rare this time. Came out rare but still cooked well sitting on my plate so I didn't get that overflowing juice that I was first expecting. The bread was toasted, very crummy, made it eating it more difficult than probably should have been. Also had myself the brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream and whip cream, warm brownie plus that chocolate chip ice cream hit the spot. I asked you could've been served just ice cream and been just as happy. I enjoyed my time here, they had some other menu options that definitely could've gone with had it not been lunchtime. Was there early enough to not know what the special was but I'm sure it was good. read more

Friendly hostess and excellent waitstaff. Cute Irish vibe but not overkill. The food was excellent. We got the totchos and the corned beef was perfect, the tots were so crispy, every single tot! The 1000 island was the best I've had. I normally don't even like it but this was so delicious we asked for more! Husband got Rueben and it was his fav Rueben. I got patty melt w onion rings. Patty was juicy and onions were carmalized just right w a rich flavor. The cheese was perfectly melted and the toast was buttery and crisp. Even the pickle was good. My only minor complaint is the onion rings were not salted at all. But they were perfectly breaded and perfectly cooked. The onion stayed when you bit into it and wasn't a messy bite. We were happy with our quick pick on our way back home to Ct. the menu had done awesome dinner options too. read more

My husband ordered the fried scallop dinner and they were very small although tasted good. I ordered the baked haddock which came with baked potato and green beans. My meal was served and the baked potato was cold. It was obviously pre cooked and reheated. Not good. The second one was bot much better. Microwaved another 30 seconds maybe. I was disappointed. The service was fine. The ambiance was fine also. For a Saturday night it wasn't busy at all. I'm beginning to see why. The food needs to be fresher and better. Time to take a break from this one. read more

Food always yummy, bartender attentive and staff friendly! Enjoyed the corned beef Reuben which was excellent. Fries crispy and good.

The service was great, Nora was super attentive and really kind. The food was OK nothing too special but not bad. I definitely recommend sitting outside so you can enjoy the amazing view. Overall, if you're looking for a great view and good drinks this is a good choice. read more

We stopped for a dinner on a Tues. We sat at the bar, order 2 fabulous martinis- salted caramel and extra dirty. We ordered the 18 oz pork chop, and the shepherds pie. The pork chop was amazing- cooked well and tender and juicy. It came with a choice of sauces, veggie, and mashed potatoes. The shepherds pie was super hot, great portion. We will definitely be back. Food was pretty good, service was slow. It was very loud in there but overall a nice meal.

Quick, after golf stop for draft beer and comfort food. Fantastic experience start to finish. Sat on the outdoor deck and enjoyed a great Fall afternoon while enjoying some famous Irish beers. Great tap list. Food was great (Shepard Pie and meatloaf) and our waitress Anna is a gem. Thanks; will be back. read more

Great place for lunch or dinner. Delicious food, nice atmosphere, excellent service, and friendly staff.

Great home style food great meatloaf also love fish and chips great new location in the city of Holyoke

You have some work to do. The food is good but in many cases needs seasoning. Roll were dry and crumbly. The room is very load and need window treatments for the mid day sun and noise abatement. Quality and price are on spot. Holyoke needs this. read more

We dined at Donovan's around 3pm yesterday and it was extremely cold inside the restaurant which made for an unpleasant dining experience. We asked for the heat to be turned up, but were told that the heat gauge was controlled by the owners who happened not to be around. We ended up eating our meal in very unpleasant conditions. We usually have had very positive dining experiences at Donovan's, but, for some reason, but not this time. read more

I have never seen such a bad restaurant. They are definitely not ready to open. A one out of things they cannot cook a hamburger properly. The waitresses are extremely professional and very good. When I talked to the owner. I was not giving a credit for the next time I come back. We play keno but only 1 tv in entire space. I lost $450 because i could not see the tv's. Do not offer keno if you cannot see the numbers read more

Came here for the first time with my friend on St. Patrick's Day late morning with a large group. Apparently my friend has been coming here for years on St. Pat's and had called ahead. The service was EXCELLENT. None of us had an empty glass for long and the food came out quickly and hot. We were not rushed but encouraged to move to the bar area when we were done eating so the next group could be seated-no problem. The food was good and I will return when it's not so crowded. read more

Nice, clean place, with good food, but the atmosphere is seasoned. Not a place for young adults.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Visited for the first time this evening. The drinks were good and the food was excellent. We both got the fishwich sandwich. It was hot and delicious. Our server, Lisa, was very nice and attentive. I'm not from the area - was visiting family - and I will definitely be back. Give this gem a try. read more

I loved Sláinte and was so sad when they closed but so happy a new Irish restaurant came one. Donovan's did a lot of work changing the inside and it looks great. We visited on a Thursday night and it was busy but for two of us it didn't take long to be seated at all. I had a New Yorker sandwich which was pastrami and corned beef on rye bread. It was so great. I never really eat sandwiches but this is order again. We'll be back to support them again, maybe on a night they have some live music! read more

New owners still working out the kinks. Noise level a bit much, Food okay. We will try again, but not too soon.

Nice Irish Pub located in an out of the spot in Holyoke. Has off-street parking. The dining and bar are in a small space, nicely, but simply decorated. There is "live Music "at specific times. Noise level is overall loud with or without live music, has like an echo effect. Waitstaff was great though with just 2 bartenders service was a bit slow. Atmosphere very upbeat in a traditional Irish way. Menu was varied and fairly priced. Food was good and the salads awesome. Once ordered, food delivered in a timely manner. Follow-up by staff was also good. The place was packed on this Friday night even though you can't make reservations Friday or Saturday night. It is a fun place and I would like to go again on a weekday/night read more

Always good food, good time, great service! Try the Rueben and finish your meal with an Irish coffee!

The food was excellent. Prices very reasonable. Outstanding Server (Davin?) Met the owner, very friendly and hospitable. Will return again.
