For the love of god if you're even an hour away, take the drive! My boyfriend and I came from New York to visit family and came across this beautiful gem! The view, the food and the service! (Thank you Emma for your hospitality and humor) we had the French onion soup, wings, brisket poutine, meatballs and macaroni and cheese. I could only wish i can teleport for the wingssssss!!! Jesus! The chef is creating magic back there. lol.

We enjoyed our dinner at Tavern on the Hill. We were seated promptly, and this was quite surprising because there was nine of us. We looked over the menu and decided to start with drinks. I had a rum and Diet Coke and it was perfect. We then ordered our dinner. I had the pulled pork platter, which was delicious and everybody was commenting on how delicious the dinner was. We enjoyed our time at the restaurant and it was very good.

Hot and hangry on deck, I have no food, no fan, no sympathy!

Service was friendly and helpful and apologetic and sympathetic. Waitstaff was spot on, selling appetizers pushing drinks, smiling and friendly. Kitchen staff was understaffed and not able to keep up with the dinner rush, never mind a sunny Holiday Saturday night. The manager apologized and brought the food after about an hour and a half wait. Ambiance; nice view, bring your sunglasses, and ask for cold drinks because it can be hot on the deck in the sun. Don't wait to ask for a manger. Expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised. Food is not worth the wait, fatty meats gave me upset stomach.

Some of the best BBQ on the East Coast!!! My friends & I discovered this place after a long hike in Russel last year. We drove up 2 and a half hours from RI to come back!!! The food is insane, the selection of sauces are incredible (my favorite is the sweet & spicy Pig Glaze), you cannot beat that view either!! The first time we went we got pretty lucky, this time we made reservations and there was a line at the door before they even opened! Waitstaff are so kind and so good at what they do!! This will be a little ritual for us every year now!! Thank you

First visit to Tavern on the Hill (Easthampton MA), located at the base of Mount Tom and boasting great views of the valley. They only serve dinner, so the barbecue is fresh, not the re-heats served at too many places nowadays. Clean bites in the ribs and moistness (dare I say juiciness) in the fatty brisket. Flavors were subtle, with not much rub and smoke, but one man's "not smoky enough" is another man's "clean" (and there's no right or wrong as long as there's no deception). All meats unsauced, with basted-in flavor in the ribs and three fantastic homemade sauces served on the side. Excellent service and good value. Wings: Not smoked but not bad. Looked a little light but adequate crispness and adequate interior. "Adequate" is actually the perfect word, since there was absolutely nothing wrong with them but nothing noteworthy. The mango habanero glaze was mildly sweet, mildly spicy, and pretty much just a lubricant, applied with restraint. Ribs: Probably the highlight of the meal. I was surprised to receive four of them with the multiple meat platter (although he fourth meat, which I expected to be sausage, wasn't there). Small to medium size, as tender as you'd want without drifting into over tender, while still having some crispness to the crust. Nice heat tingle on the surface, along with some very mild sweetness. The meat was moist though short of gushing. Almost no smoke flavor, and I didn't smell any smoke on my way in, although I did see plenty of wood piles. Pulled pork: They gave a ton of it; I probably ate 8 forkfuls and still had plenty left for a very generous sandwich the next day. Of the three meets, this was the one I suspect might have been a reheat: not dried, but the moistness was watery some flaky texture underneath. Gray color though not unappealing like so many. Barely any smoke. Brisket: More gray, though very, very tender and succulent, even to the point of being juicy. Good fat content. Not so good color but there was some pink here and there. Bark was dark black with rub in some bites and not in others. Sauces. Three different homemade sauces featured a non-yellow mustard and two sweet (same sweet base, one with pepper flakes). All excellent. Sides: A mixed bag, with baked beans the highlight (flavor similar to a mild chili), collard greens flavorful, and mac & cheese and potato salad adequate but bland.

I enjoyed a fabulous birthday dinner at Tavern on the Hill Friday. Our reservations were for outside in the back deck overlooks a glorious Mountain View. It got a little windy so they were gracious enough to allow us to move inside. We start with poutine, without gravy. Of course the breakfast skillet was cooked to perfection the cheese curds were wonderful and sweet potato fries were so good. I had the chicken and wild mushroom risotto. It was a large portion And came out piping hot. The chicken was so tender, as I suspected it would be being a barbecue restaurant. My date had the salmon over mashed potatoes. The salmon tasted so well and I loved the mashed potatoes. I will definitely return!

The brisket was my absolute favorite--so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Even the other customers were friendly, and the staff was just as welcoming. My fiancé and I shared the two-meat platter, and thank goodness we did--it was more than enough food. The slaw...heavy on the vinegar, corn bread not too sweet, not too crumbly. Also tried the bread pudding, jam packed with stuff, not too sweet. Signs all along the walls, hand written menu. You can see them cooking in front of you, or cutting the meat at least. The take out trays, bags, and utensils are all eco friendly, which we love to see. They have both fountain and canned drinks. They have both a BBQ and a Polish specialties section and, unable to decide between the choices, we got both the Polish Dish (a combo for only $10?!) and the more "expensive" of the BBQ combo plates ($13 compared the other $11 and $12 combo options). The Polish Dish has pierogi, kielbasa, sauerkraut, stuffed cabbage and a side of rye bread and sour cream - we got this one with the optional mustard and horseradish. For the BBQ we got brisket (soooo good) and steak tips. The sides were beans and mac and cheese (all small but good) and cornbread. This dish allowed you to pick two sauces, so I did! The restaurant itself is small but always cleanly and I love how their windows have seasonal paintings on them. They also sell excellent kettle corn. I highly recommend! My grandma and I went last night but have been here numerous times before. I've often found some of their meat to be pretty dry but I do like the meatloaf. That's exactly what I had last night along with baked potato salad, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. They also make some of their drinks in house as well like the iced tea and root beer. My meatloaf was great! Nice Smokey flavor and four pieces was a hefty portion. The last two slices had some harder pieces of fat which I needed to take out of my mouth though. The potato salad is always killer- I think they add some sour cream to it to make it tangier. Cornbread is some of the best I've ever had- super sweet and cake like. The Mac and cheese was also excellent with great creaminess. Iced tea was sweetened and also very good. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating. We had banana pudding for dessert which was good overall. I prefer the Magnolia Bakery recipe more but appreciated how the nilla wafers were fresh and it had plenty of banana. I would lay off the cool whip in the future though. Overall, an excellent restaurant who does right by their employees and the community. I love to see it and support whenever I can!

Seems like the only…read moresource of information on this place is directly on their website that gets updated maybe twice a year. Haven't found a facebook page or anything else. Waited and kept checking to see when they would open and finally they did in June. Showed up and they only take cash, no meat combo meals, had to be a half rack of ribs, and menu was almost exclusively burgers and fries. So I gave my hopes up and figured this place must not be worth it. Happened to be driving by one day and happened to have cash on me. Figured I'd check it out just to know for certain what I was missing. Just so happened that a meat combo was the "Special" of the day. 1/4 rack and pulled pork which was pretty much all they had for actual "BBQ" stuff. I don't consider burgers part of BBQ. And now I'm looking at their menu online which has been updated and they now serve Brisket on Friday and Saturday nights. And they change up their sides every week. Happened to catch them with Baked Beans and Pasta Salad that day. Ribs were 3 bones for a 1/4 rack. Slathered and char grilled quite a bit, which are 2 things I don't want on ribs. But damn it was good for a charred rib. Meat was as tough as you expect it to be for a rib all charred up but the sauce had a sweet fun heat kick to it. The kind of heat that doesn't burn at all but it feels like it might. Fruity sensation to it too. Other parts were a bit more tender and I think the original pork flavor gets a little lost in these ribs. With the char and the sauce it was hard to find a real good pork flavor but it was still very good. Pulled Pork was exactly how it was supposed to be, not completely torn apart, still big chunks that are soft and easy. Seasoned well, very moist, great pork flavor and seasoning flavor. Exactly the kind of pulled pork I want. Side of sauce wasn't completely necessary but I tried it on the pork. Thick style, I don't think it was the same stuff as on the ribs. But it was sweet and slow and did it's job. Pasta Salad was excellent. This was legit homemade Italian grandma olive oil style. Cut up peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, Fussilie pasta. Flavor and texture made the stuff so easy to eat I could have just face planted myself into it. Beans looked amazing. Obviously some pulled or shredded meat, I want to say brisket. Maple and Brown Sugar flavors hit the tongue instantly, It was crazy. Tiny hint of smokey flavor from the brisket. Pinto beans could have used a tad bit longer in the pot but it wasn't a deal at all, just a preference. Slaw had a great sweet vinegar taste like any good slaw would. Pretty much only cabbage shreds but honestly who can tell the taste between carrots and radish when they've been pickling in the same juice. Slaw was gone before I could even think about it anymore ... so that should tell you something. Surprisingly good food truck. I just hate that it's cash only, I completely understand why, and that the sides change every week and it's not updated anywhere. But I will have to go back and try their burgers and fries and brisket and hotdogs soon.

Sides on our visit included cole slaw, fries, cucumber salad, and baked beans. The half-rack of 8 ribs was generous, meaty, smoky, with a very nice, sweet, southern-style sauce brushed-on and also provided as a bonus dip. While the *flavors* were lovely in the slaw, beans, and BBQ sauce, the cuke salad had very little if any dressing, the beans seemed undercooked, and the ribs were overcooked. Ribs should be fall-off-the-bone tender, and we had to tear at every bone. Mind you, we picked them clean because, again, the flavor was good. But definitely overly dry, indicating a too-hot, too-fast cooking this time out. Easy-to-miss this BBQ trailer tucked into the far leafy corner of White's Sugar House & Farm Stand parking lot just before Route 202 if you're going east on Route 119. There aren't always practical street addresses in this mostly rural area, and the old farm sign is all but buried by the surrounding tree growth in summer. Slow up as you approach the lighted intersection, and keep your eyes peeled for the Old Fitzwilliam Rd street sign, even though it's just the driveway. Despite the dry ribs, we prefer indie places to chains, so we are still glad to have tried it. Southern sauce this good is harder to come by up north.
