This means, that the coffee you get here is going to be Catalpa roasted beans, but with a higher selection of "fancy" pastries. (The apricot croissant I had was very very delicious. ) I do not love Catalpa espresso as much as Shelburne Falls coffee, because it has a very sweet taste with a bitter finish, I prefer something that is more of an earthy or mellow light roast. Just smelling the ground coffee makes you think of something flowery and sharp. They have limited breakfast sandwiches and a few drink specials that remind me of what they have over at Catalpa . Unfortunately, because all three stores are linked, that means none of them have soy milk anymore, which is my go to espresso add-in. It is even still on the sign at the counter. The staff is friendly, and it's at a nice spot near where Shelburne Falls used to be. Their main advertisement is their croissant, so four stars for having a super delicious croissant. For not having any seating, and advertising soy milk and having any, one star deduction.

The line can be out the door at times, but the staff work diligently to keep it moving. The seating can be tight but it's a nice place to hang out if they have the space. The name alone is so cute and whimsical - who WOULDN'T want to visit a 'Pie Bar'!? This review will focus on some savory and dessert pies we ordered as takeout to serve at a party. Tofu Pot Pie - I love that this was an option - it's so hard to find a tofu pot pie anywhere, let alone in a cute little empanada style shape! One was pretty filling and could easily be a full lunch portion for some. The crust was buttery and flaky and perfectly golden, as was the crust on everything. Spanakopita Hand Pie - very tasty and flavorful. The darkness of the spinach threw me off at first, but this was really yummy and I could've eaten multiple. Street Corn Hand Pie - great flavors and unique combination Blackberry Tangerine Pie with crumble on top (I think this was the fruit combo?) - I'm not normally a huge fan of fruit pies as they just don't excite me as much, but this one had such a phenomenal sugary crumble on top that I ate it right up. The fruit wasn't too hard or too mushy and blended well together. Key Lime Pie - a very rich, creamy, decadent pie. This seems higher in cream content than some other key lime pies and filled me up quickly so I could only have a little bit in one sitting, but it's phenomenal. Many at the party went back for seconds of this one. Service - we called to place an order ahead of time. Day of, the Pie Bar called to say the tofu option was running low, but they could secure us some extras if we wanted since we only ordered one. We really only needed the one for the lone vegetarian, but this thoughtfulness was so appreciated! This place is a slam dunk and I always look forward to seeing what will be next on their rotating menu. I wish some of my favorites stayed around longer - I really loved their Mac n Cheese hand pie that I had once years ago - it was flaky and incredible, I dream of it!

The menu is nicely divided between sweet and savory. I got two specials. one savory pie, Moroccan inspired with lentils. There was only one dessert item left (3: o'clock or so) a brown butter pie. Wouldn't be my first choice but, like I said the only sweet left. Both about $6.00 and delicious! Service was excellent. They have it down to a science! The savory pie was warmed to perfection!

Housed in a beautifully preserved historic building, the café embraces its 19th-century roots with original wood floors, vintage furnishings, and the timeless charm of an old-fashioned soda fountain. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles effortlessly with rich chocolate, creating an atmosphere that invites you to slow down and savor the moment before you've even placed an order. Watching my European-style dark sipping chocolate being prepared was a performance in itself. Every movement behind the counter reflected care and craftsmanship rather than routine. Paired with a warm brownie, the experience promised indulgence and exceeded every expectation. Crowned with a swirl of whipped cream, the sipping chocolate was impossibly smooth, velvety, and intensely rich without being overpowering. The first sip was so luxurious that the bustle of the café seemed to disappear, leaving nothing but the warmth of the cup and the deep, complex flavors of expertly crafted chocolate. The brownie followed with its own quiet perfection; warm, chewy, and deeply fudgy, delivering a decadent companion to an already unforgettable drink. Ana Bandiera Chocolates is more than a café; it's a destination for anyone who appreciates the artistry of fine chocolate. Sourcing cacao from across the Southern Hemisphere while honoring a tradition that stretches back to the ancient Aztecs, the shop transforms a simple afternoon treat into an experience worth lingering over. Northampton is fortunate to have a place of this caliber. It is a hidden gem that proves world-class craftsmanship can thrive far from the bustle of a major city.

Disappointed After Hearing So Many Great Things…read more I really wanted to love this place. As someone who works nearby, I've had countless customers recommend Ana Bandera's to me. People would constantly tell me how amazing it was and that I had to try it. After hearing so many positive reviews, I finally decided to stop in for a vanilla chai latte. Unfortunately, my experience was nothing like what I had heard. When I walked in, there were only about three customers inside. Right before me, another customer came in and was greeted with smiles, laughter, and friendly conversation. When it was my turn, the atmosphere completely changed. There was no greeting, no conversation, and honestly, I didn't feel welcome. The interaction felt cold, as if I was inconveniencing the staff just by placing my order. Since it was my first visit, I wasn't familiar with how everything worked. When my drink was ready, the employee simply placed it on top of the pastry case, said, "Have a good day," turned around, and walked away. There was no explanation, no smile, and no attempt to make a first time customer feel appreciated. I stood there for a moment in disbelief because I truly thought that couldn't be the entire customer service experience. I still left a tip because I believe in supporting people who work in customer service, and I hoped maybe it would brighten someone's day. But I walked out feeling disappointed, especially since it was raining and I had gone out of my way to finally visit a place that had been so highly recommended. Unfortunately, the drink itself didn't make up for the experience. The vanilla chai latte tasted overwhelmingly like straight chai. I couldn't taste any vanilla, it wasn't sweet at all, and it honestly wasn't enjoyable. To make matters worse, the drink was served in a to-go cup without being sealed, and it spilled all over my car on the drive back to work since it was filled to the top. When I arrived at work, I looked at the cup and honestly thought it looked like something I could have made at home and poured into a plastic cup. After such a disappointing visit, I decided to read some of the lower-rated reviews, and I noticed someone else had mentioned receiving an unsealed to-go drink that spilled as well (2reviews confirming this is not the first time) Knowing that another customer had experienced the same issue made it seem like this wasn't just a one time mistake. From the negative comments I read seems also the staff with attitude is a regular thing. I'm usually someone who believes every business deserves a second chance. I've had disappointing experiences elsewhere before, and if a business makes an effort to correct things, I'm more than happy to return. Sadly, this visit left such a poor impression that I don't see myself coming back. Customer service is just as important as the product you're serving, especially when you're welcoming someone for the very first time. I truly hope this was simply an off day, because based on the recommendations I received, I expected a much warmer experience. I genuinely wanted to become a regular customer. Instead, I left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Would not be coming back and will be sharing my experiences with my customers.

Was excited to try their boba since the Limered nearby isnt good anymore. This place has very good reviews but mostly abt rolled ice cream, reallh hard to tell if the drinks are good or not. I shoulda trusted the only review abt how their boba is bland or tasteless. Their boba is pricey compared to the others probably bc you basically pay extra for their signature light bulbs. I ordered a reg milk tea with pearl, tasted more like iced milk lol. And the sweetness is weird, kinda like fake sugar - the sweetener. I went home, brew more tea, put some real sugar into my drink bc I wasnt happy paying $6 for that tasteless milk oh well.. read more

One change since my last visit is that you now order the ice cream outside instead of inside. The line was long but it moved surprisingly fast. I do wish they offered samples and this time they were missing some of the more unique flavors that I like to try. Kiddo and Wifey got the Orange Pineapple, and they both loved it. The best part was that it wasn't overly sweet. It was light, fruity, refreshing, and the pineapple pieces throughout gave it great texture. My mom got half raspberry and half pineapple from the non dairy sorbet options and really enjoyed both. I went with the Black Raspberry Chip and it was so good. This is that old-school ice cream I grew up with. If you've had it before, you know exactly what I mean. That said, after trying another place just three minutes away, I do think that other ice cream is creamier. I personally prefer a creamier texture, while my wife likes a firmer scoop, so it really comes down to preference. One thing to know before ordering: when they say "one scoop" they really mean one scoop. Don't expect an oversized serving. There are chickens and cows roaming around the farm, which adds to the experience. The animals looked happy, and while seating is limited, there are both indoor and outdoor places to sit and enjoy your ice cream. Overall, this is still a great stop and one I've enjoyed for years. This place is well worth visiting for the farm atmosphere, beautiful views, and classic homemade ice cream.

It edges out my longtime favorite that's just three minutes away, simply because I prefer a creamier style of ice cream. My wife prefers a less creamy texture so whether you like this place or the other place up the road more really comes down to personal preference. We ordered the kiddie size and it was still surprisingly generous. Free sprinkles were a nice bonus too. The little shop inside is really cute.
