I do not like writing negative reviews, in particular for new businesses. Given their response to my distress upon receiving my cake and the actual product I received, I felt it was only fair to warn other consumers. Prior to ordering my cake, the "clouds and posies" which is topped with fresh flowers, I reached out to their customer service representative, Alexis, because I noted the presence of a peony on the cake. Peonies were out of season. We discussed what flowers would be on the cake. I was told "English roses" in an "orangey peach color", true to the color of the cake on their website. After being told this, I placed an order. It cost me $120 total. I built my birthday party around this cake. I ordered orangey peach roses. I found party supplies (balloons, napkins, etc...) to complement the cake. The cake was going to be my centerpiece. I told my friends about this cake and showed the photo from the website. I was excited about it. You order a cake like this because you want something that is not only tasty, but looks luxe and elegant. The day of my party, the cake was delivered shortly before my guests arrived. The delivery man handed me my cake and my face dropped. I was horrified. I did not believe it was my cake. Too embarrassed to serve it to my guests. It looked like a Pinterest fail. The roses were old, dead, and browning. Certainly not "orangey peach" or "English". You would find fresher roses at a bodega. I immediately contacted Alexis. This is a Manhattan-only business. Based in Manhattan. I sent photos. I emphasized my distress. This was an expensive cake. And no solution was offered. Just some line about "organic roses" and not holding up well in transit. Again, it is a cake company, based solely in Manhattan. What kind of transit did these roses encounter and why would a delivery-only company not make provisions for that? Also, why did they not examine my cake prior to its delivery? And if they did examine it, I cannot fathom they would think its condition was acceptable. There was no offer to remedy the issue. No offer to drop off fresh roses (they could have stopped at a florist and dropped some off). It is troubling that a new business is so short on solutions and creative thinking. And I was just left to deal with feeling like I had been scammed. And expensively so. In fact, I had to chase them up, three days later, about a credit. And the most that was offered was 50% back or a store credit (as if I would ever order again given this experience). I told them this was unacceptable and that I would be writing this review. I have also noticed since I told them that, several 5-star reviews have popped up. So I was still out $60 for a Pintrest fail when I could have bought a better-looking cake at the grocery store for half that. This is how they handled their poor performance that negatively impacted a customer. Buyer beware. They do not deserve your money or your business. read more
