I've been to Electric Cure twice now, and it immediately became one of my favorite bars in Denver! Then again, I'm a sucker for tiki drinks in general, as pricey as they are. I usually sit at the bar and order from their extensive cocktail menu comprised of fancy-sounding ingredients. Their drinks are themed and highly creative. The bartenders are so fun, and I usually ask for their recommendation. The cocktails tend to be super strong! And there IS street parking if needed. Lots of interesting decor to look at. I've been hearing about this place for years and had it on my list to visit. I'd heard it described as a Satanic tiki bar and I've had a great time at what I thought were its sister bars with similar concepts/theming. I walked in to staff who were too preoccupied with LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE to acknowledge our presence. They chitchatted with the one other customer in the bar, scrolled their phones, one showed the other some ingredients, and so on until we were able to get their attention and order our drinks. At this point our group had been laughing and joking about how much we were being ignored (were we ghosts? Had we died on the drive over?) that we started paying attention to the time. It took 45 minutes for us to receive our four drinks, in a bar with two staff members and one other customer. The drinks were fine, nothing to write home about. The decor was at best kind of a Hot Topic middle school basic bitch take on Satanism, I guess?? I guess it's satanic if you count Jurassic Park and Mars Attacks! decor to be edgy. There was no sense of tiki, either. Their name has apparently changed from "The Electric Cure" to "The Cure Edgewater" and this was reflected in signage just covering up the word "Electric" with duct tape. We later heard from a bartender at another bar that apparently there was some sort of split between them and Hell or High Water. I am happy to have finally checked this place off of my list, but very embarrassed I dragged several others along with me. We won't be back. read more

I had a Nightmare on Elf Street which was a warm holiday cocktail. The chai masala and gingerbread rum were delicious together. The Jingle Bell Rock Bottom was surprisingly delightful and I enjoyed how nicely the sesame oil made this drink stand out. All drinks were served in Christmas themed cups and my group and I appreciated the details. The bartenders really made these drinks stand out with a little fire. Music is generally loud but fun. The drinks: delectable, naughty and highly creative. Now for the caveats: this place gets packed and its tight. Plan early or pack some patience with you. And in true tiki fashion, the drinks and overall service takes time and $, so yeah plan accordingly! Pro tip: go with another tiki enthusiast early (like 4p) amd split a hot and cold drink for an interesting contrast. They have specials that change throughout the seasons and the constant staples. The commitment to a theme this Satanic Tiki bar does every time is 100/10. For the 90s theme, I tried the "Hold On To Your Diapies, Babies" and the "You're A Virgin Who Can't Drive" (comes with a slap bracelet) drinks. Rugrats and Clueless- the quintessential 90s! I was in town and wanted a pina colada so I stopped by here with a friend. The theme constantly changes and so do the drink names. If you see a drink you like, it might not be on the new menu when it changes. When I was here, I also had to order at the bar even though we were sitting at a table so we just ended up sitting at the bar anyways. There's auto gratuity even for a group of 2. I like the way they decorate for each theme. The music can be pretty loud so if you're conversing, just make sure to speak up or be prepared. I'm giving this place 3 stars because I would have liked someone to come to the table to take my order. There was also a friendly bartender and the other one wasn't so friendly. The hubs and I came with friends and this is an awesome bar. First the drink names themselves are works of art. They were so much fun to read through and then order. The service was a little confusing because we had table side service initially but then ordered at the bar. No biggie once we figured the system out. We ordered the shareable "Feliz Navi-Dad Went Out For A Cigarette and Never Came Home" because Daddy issues always come up around this time. This was served in a giant elf boot and had a cigar shaped sparkler that was lit on fire. It was also adorned with two dancing skeletons in Santa hats. Went for a slow emo night on a Tuesday. Drinks were tasty. I noticed the mandatory 20% on the menu so I wasn't surprised or bothered by it. Our bartender was pretty nice, service was fine bc it was a super slow night. But this place HAS to do something about the smell. I'm not trying to be rude but the first thing my wife and I noticed was the smell of urine throughout the entire bar. Is it the bathrooms? Is it the bar mats? Who knows but it literally smells like a porta-potty on day 3 of a music festival that hasn't been cleaned yet. Made me think that it was part of the demonic theme they have going on. They have an extensive specialty cocktail and matching mocktail menu which is super cool. True to tiki form, they are on the sweeter side, but I was pleasantly surprised that the cocktails weren't sickly sweet. My first drink came with a long hair sticking out of the top so I removed it and didn't complain since the bartenders hair looked freshly washed. We came around 9pm Sunday and there was plenty of free parking right in front. The skinny: Unique amazing tiki drinks - one of our favorite bars in Denver! First off this place is kitschy, wild, eclectic, and crazy all in the best ways. My fiance is, a huge Tiki fan and this place has some absolutely solid tiki drinks. My overall favorite is Passion of the Christ - their take on a Pain Killer. Get it if you're looking for something coconut creamy with a kick of pineapple without being overly sweet. If you're there with a group and looking for something fun, check out Satan's Satanic Satanists - it comes in a gigantic skull and is a shared bowl for multiple people. All the drinks come with a fun name, glass, and garnishes. Perfectly concocted liquid heaven. There are a few drinks that come with fire as well for that extra Insta worthy video. Note that this is a fairly small place. Service is friendly - but its one of those bars where the drinks take time. So be prepared to be patient. Especially on a weekend. It gets fairly packed and may be hard to find a spot to sit down. If you don't mind crowds, come on a weekend. They have crazy rituals every hour in the evening that is super fun and unique. While we were there, they had all the bartenders participate in a 'satanic' ritual feeding a person with a goat head with pretzel thins. The overall vibes of this place are super unique and fun. Decor and ambiance is really cool - and changes a lot of the different holidays! You can also bring food in, or order and have it delivered. Would I come here again? Yes! and have multiple times. First off, Max was amazing as the bartender, and even though people were lined up all around me, I felt like I was his only customer. Best compliment I can give. The place was small, but they make the most of it. Loved the vibe. We were late for our reservation, but we had a Saltburn party, so we all had antlers and wings on, so I get why we didn't immediately get a table. Everything right now is themed around Jeff Goldblum which I LOVED. Only reason i can't give 5 stars is because if the service. These drinks definitely take time to make, but it was kind of frustrating. They were doing table service so you had to order at the bar and wait in line, which took me I kid you not, 25 minutes. The part that sucked was that everyone sitting around the bar got served super quickly and didn't have to wait. I wish that second bartender helped get through the order line. I think this should be coined the eclectic electric cure instead of a tiki bar. I haven't been to many tiki bars but the ones I have been to are a bit more on-brand from a theme perspective. Regardless, interesting decor and tasty drinks. Biggest issue is that the bar is really small with a ramp/railing running right through the center which makes it awkward to sit and move through the space. Also, while I appreciate having a nice variety of drinks to choose from, the menu at this place is MASSIVE and is almost too big -- it takes forever to decided and feels like they have way too many drinks of similar rum varieties. Small funky bar that delivers dive bar aesthetic with higher end service and cocktails. The drinks are on the pricier side, but all cocktails are hand crafted and entirely worth the price. Like I mentioned, it's a small joint so don't expect to get a seat on a Saturday night at 8pm or anything, but it's an easy spot to enjoy even if you have to stand. Side Note: Friday at around 9pm they had an actual catholic priest come in, do a COMMUNION with the entire bar staff, and they all took a shot instead of sipped wine. Super cool decor, I love Jurassic Park (obsessed with it actually) and they had an awesome sign that was a quote from Ian Malcom. It took us 20 minutes to get to the front. The drinks were over priced in my opinion for the time and taste. They weren't awful, they tasted good, but they were over hyped for the price. This place was such a dream. I went with a friend on a Friday night. It is so much smaller than you anticipate. It probably only has like 20-30 seats, so it is small. We walked right in and found a place to sit until made our way up to the bar after about 15 minutes. The service was good once we got an opportunity to order. I, of course, ordered a firey drink to make sure I had some fun on this adventure. I love that they have fishbowl-style drinks and individual drinks. The fun, kitschy atmosphere was definitely enticing and then it fueled the fire more when they were playing up a situation when Christian Fundamentalists went in and deemed the place Satanic. Now you tell me, what is not to love here? When I finally did make it here earlier this month I was surprised that it was much smaller of a place than I thought but that's okay. The angles on Instagram for when they have drag performers and such made it look bigger. The cocktails here are excellent and did not disappoint in the slightest. I got the Cobra Why which had mezcal and rum as the main alcohol base. Expertly made and so very tasty! I had to get a tank top shirt as a souvenir for the place. The Electric Cure is a such a unique, eclectic mix of Tiki bar and Dive bar! The moment you walk in, you're immersed in a colorful, kitschy world of velvet paintings, neon signs and pirate themed tiki decor. The staff was super friendly and attentive, they greeted us as we entered and promptly served us up some incredible Tiki drinks to enjoy while taking in all of the fun artifacts around the bar. Spending $41 for a drink and then being told you can either pay for tickets to a show that was not advertised anywhere or you can go sit outside in the rain and drink a frozen drink while shivering. There was nothing on their website about a drag show. There were no signs at the door. The bartender didn't tell us until we had ordered the $35 drink (which they automatically tack a 20% gratuity on). We opted to go outside then discovered it was raining. I offered to take a friend out for a bday drink. We stopped because it looked like a small hole in the wall with music blaring from the door. Knowing nothing about the bar the first thing that hit us was the smell. After noting the busy Friday night crowd was mostly white and college-age, my friend quipped the scent reeked of bad decisions & regret. I don't want to go into too many details. Let's just say after scanning the crowd and the scent, we expected dive bar drink options and realized after we could actually see behind the bar that it did have a specialty drink/rum bar feel. The decor was very cool/unique and some patrons dressed in flower clothes/leis to match the theme. The service was average. They weren't super attentive, but not ignoring us. They obviously had to have some special skills to serve some of the drinks they have on the menu. I think the Electric Cure is a good option if you are looking for custom cocktails in an eclectic, loud, bright venue with a young crowd. For me personally, if the tab for 2 drinks is going to be $42+ (they add on a 20% gratuity and tax to drinks that run $14-18 each) I prefer a more intimate, classy atmosphere and less messy crowd. read more
