Did a Yelp search for restaurants in Tucson on our way to the Pima Air and Space Museum. Found this little gem, had mixed reviews but the photos of the food convinced me to have our party of four to eat there. We were sat quickly, and immediately our drink order was taken. While we waited for our drinks which were brought quickly, we read the very large and varied menu and decided what to eat. Orders taken quickly, food hot and quick to the table. So very yummy......except my potatoes. I ordered the crispy but just not a great taste. They tasted burned so i didn't eat but a couple of bites...which is okay because the serving were huge. I recommend the biscuits with honey. Will definitely go again. read more

So this is a fairly good breakfast place to go to and can get kind of addictive. Most of the staff is nice and friendly. The food gets out to you very fast and is fairly good. Every now and then the food is under seasoned and the fries are always greasy and flimsy. They do give large portions, the pricing is really good for what you get and they give you a lot of bacon! This has become my favorite breakfast place, reasonable prices and the American-style breakfast food is as good as a Southern granny can make it. This is my favorite breakfast location in town and we do have some good ones here in Tucson! The decor is just awful, though. It looks like some elderly person bought all the wall art in the Goodwills around town. You can find everything from Rat Pack nonsense, to John Wayne, to irrelevant movie posters. The carpet is nasty. An inexpensive, simple, clean overhaul would do this place wonders. Some of the furniture is busted. Just grubby and sad. It's really nothing spectacular. So many other better places to eat breakfast. I've tried it twice now with no luck. First meal was biscuits and gravy, which was too much gravy atop a cheap biscuit, and the gravy had way too much black pepper. Second meal was a breakfast burrito. Just got a take out order of the country club omelet with corn bread and eggs Benedict. The country club omelet was over cooked (way too brown) on both sides and it didn't help that the home fries were burnt themselves. The hollandaise sauce on the Benedict also tasted store bought or like it was made from a package. The cornbread was also dense and dried out. It was just a burnt and overcooked taste overall. Tried this out because we were in the area. The food was great! and the portion sizes are huge! The staff was great and very friendly. The inside was clean, it's was a great place for breakfast. I would recommend it. The only opportuniity is to make sure to have cash with you. They charge a 4% service fee to use any card. I know 4% isn't the end of the world but I would rather give it to the fine servers that took care of us. read more

Four of us had breakfast at the EC this morning and the service and food were excellent! My wife had the Aspen Omellette, which she really enjoyed. Another member had the Niles Favorite, which he said was delicious. I had the Lox Platter, which was one of the best and most generous that I have had in a long time; absolutely delicious. Doesn't seem like much when you drive by. But my family wanted to go to a breakfast place where they have been in before,they chose this restaurant. They had a big menu and it all looked good. When they bring us our food I thought like every other joint They would give a normal amount of fries. Your wrong! They give you an entirely different plate for fries. My family and I used to love coming here, but my mom and I went today and had the worst experience we've ever had at any place of business. My mom and I had ordered a patty melt and a separate order of fries. The restaurant automatically split the patty melt, without us asking, and brought out 4 separate plates with one item on each plate. When we got our check, we saw they had charged us for splitting, which we never even asked for. We asked to speak to someone, and thats when the owner came out. She started to yell at us, accusing us of stealing because we were using silverware, and then started to harass us for drinking water, using these insults and harassments towards us as an excuse to justify charging us a plate splitting fee. She then left and started to walk around the restaurant to different customers making fun of us to them. She then came back to our table with her son, and both of them started to harass us and yell at us more. We then went to pay our bill, and the harassment continued, she then started making weird faces at us and shouting at us in gibberish acting like a child, putting her thumbs in her ears and waving her fingers at us. My mom went back to our waitress to tip her, as the waitress was very polite to us, and the cook shouted to my mom from the kitchen to "get out, we don't want your kind here, and stop harassing my waitress." When my mom and I got into our car the owner came flying out of the building and started to pound on our windows and kick our car tires while still yelling gibberish at us and making more faces at us. We will never be coming back here, and I highly recommend no one go here. Or if you do, don't question a single thing. I would like to add one more thing, when my mom asked the owner if she was really willing to loose an entire family over $1, the owner said in a really snippy tone "I don't care, so what!" read more

Our waitress was clearly on speed, she chattered a mile a minute, forgot our order twice, ended up serving us food that we didn't order then added it to our check anyway. Your modus operandi has not changed in substance--nor has your contempt for truth, public accountability, Yelp, and your customers. Your account relating to Yelp is untrue and, even if it were true, irrelevant: I wrote what this man said about Yelp, and I asked you both whether you respect Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman in San Francisco. You did not respond affirmatively. It is true that the server asked my tablemate whether he would like a drink, but that's also irrelevant. Your account of what I ate is only half true: I ordered food. Your account of time both contradicts your earlier statements (three hours) and is incorrect. At 11:04 a.m., I called my tablemate from a location nearby, and we agreed to meet at the restaurant. I had not yet entered the restaurant. Probably closer to 4.25 stars than 5 stars, but I decided to round up based on the place's overall 3 star rating. The Egg Connection has quality service. Food comes out quickly and exactly as ordered. The staff are friendly. This restaurant has its busy times like any other breakfast place in town, but the wait times aren't too long. The food is delicious, however there's nothing remarkable about their dishes. I've never had anything I didn't like, and their portions are generous. My favorite is probably the enchilada omelette. Like I mentioned, there's nothing that makes their food stand out from other places. On a recent visit to Tucson, I wanted to take my mother and her friend out for breakfast. The place we had originally planned on having breakfast at was closed, and our second choice was insanely busy, so my mother's friend suggested we drive a little farther and try out The Egg Connection. I am so happy that she did! A kitschy little spot with photos of John Wayne on the wall, I knew as soon as we were seated that we had a gem based on the look and smell of the food waitresses were swiftly bringing out to other patrons. Egg Connection was busy, but someone quickly took our drink order. I was struggling to decide what to order, so I asked our waiter for his recommendation. He said the specialities are the eggs benedict and the chicken fried steak, neither of which were even on my radar... I decided to trust his recommendations and went with the eggs benedict, and was very pleased with the generous serving. A little heavy-handed on the hollandaise but the eggs were poached perfectly. I sampled a bit of my mother's meal as well, the sausage was delicious. Our total bill was $30 for breakfast with tip. One person in our party only had water, I still consider this a steal for the quality and quantity of food served. I only get back to Tucson every few months now, but when I am visiting, The Egg Connection will be a new regular spot for me for breakfast. read more

The restaurant is tucked away in one of Tucson's many strip malls, and the chairs tend to be of the stackable, vinyl/faux leather variety. I've been to The Egg Connection twice now. The first time it struck me as quite a solid breakfast location, I believe I got some kind of delicious Greek omelet which was really good. The second time, it was during the Sunday brunch rush. My friend and I walked in, and the woman at the front counter told us we could sit immediately at the counter. Not opposed to counter dining, we headed back. Once past the throng by the door, we noticed that while there were two empty seats, they were not together. Not particularly concerned (we had been expecting to wait, after all), we turned around to wait back at the front. Before we knew it, the server had coaxed a guest into moving over a seat and sprung from behind the counter to collect us to come sit. I must be honest, some of the negative reviews kinda had me worried..but it was exciting not knowing what to expect, so we went. First thought, "it's bigger inside than I expected"...we were seated quickly, ordered quickly and got our food quickly (in less than 10 min). I ordered biscuits and gravy, it was good gravy was slightly runny, but it was delicious! My over medium egg came out over easy, not a big deal. Server was AWESOME. Coffee was GREAT!! He liked his grits eggs and sausage. The fans could use a cleaning above the tables but as my Dad use to say, "a little dirt don't hurt"...lol! Tables are clean, floors are clean, utensils were clean and the plants on the walls weren't dusty so I can deal...(the fans in my home need a good dusting so let me not judge too harshly). I love the Egg Connection. We've been going for years, usually on a Sunday as I work full time. We always ask for Levi to be our server. He remembers my mom eats raisin toast, husband has lemonade and usually a Sicilian omelet and I drink a ton of iced tea. The food here is always great, the portions are huge, and the service is fast and efficient. Today we went without my mom, she was having a sad day (she's 88). First thing Levi asked was where's Mom? Told him she was having a rough day. When he brought the bill he brought a bag with a to go box in it filled with a giant cinnamon roll. He told us to bring it to my mom and he hoped that it would cheer her up. He even wrote a note on the box. Now that is going above and beyond! Two visits here now for breakfast, both have been good experiances. Located in a strip mall so the front is all glass panels that let in a lot of light. Medium sized space with four seat tables. Business is family owned with several members working there, and the pride shows through in the service. Large menu with reasonable prices. The food came out quickly and was expertly prepared, very tasty. Lots of sports and Old Hollywood memorabilia decorate the walls. As it's in a strip mall plenty of off street parking available. I tried the chicken fried steak and egg combo on our last visit. The steak was generously sized and not pounded too flat. Went for breakfast on a Saturday after dropping our dog off at the groomer. I saw corned beef hash on the menu and had to read no further . Corned beef hash was some of the better I have had in Tucson. Home fries, eggs and toast rounded out a very good breakfast. Service was good and the food arrived fast. I went to breakfast on Tuesday with my family to the Egg Connection on Ft. Lowell. During my visit the owner of the restaurant was sitting at the breakfast counter talking with a customer. Three women and a young child came in and we're getting ready to be seated. The owner saw them and turned to the gentleman he was visiting and said rudely " those people don't think I can cook a medium rare hamburger". The gentleman turned towards the customers to see who the owner was talking about. One of the customers waiting to be seated heard the remark. She picked up her child and told the other women let's go we are not eating here. I feel this was very unprofessional of the owner and was not necessary. I might add I also observed him being very rude to his staff. They have a pass thru window you could see the owner cooking and sweating profusely and not wearing gloves. I will not be returning to this restaurant. Too many viruses going around. I'm good! read more

I was excited to try this place by the sadly it did not impress me. We went for breakfast on a Wednesday morning it was decently busy. The service was strange.. The food was not that great. Their coffee was bitter and not good. Their bacon was not crispy but soggy and kind of uncooked. The items on their menu were not normally how it's made which is different but that's okay. Their pancake on my son's plate was the only thing I could really enjoy eating. The chorizo eggs Benedict was different but not that great. Their cornbread was huge and not really like cornbread. This is my favorite breakfast place in town. In fact, these guys have *the* best burgers in town. Zinburger is great, Fuddrucker's is OK, but this place tops them all. They cook it to your request, they're big, they're made by hand and not over worked into the meat paste you get at so many places. (If your burger has hard angles on the edges, run away. You're not at a good burger place.) The chicken fried steak is also quite good, an while not the bar-none best ever, it is the best in Tucson. The meat is tender and has a good flavor, and the crust is good and crispy. Their other foods are fairly standard and good, but I mentioned my favorites above. One con is that they do not have a soda fountain, only cans. Not an issue for me, but for those that drink soda by the gallon for every meal, it is annoying. read more

Service was fine, I am just a stickler for taking plates off the table, which our server didn't do. Also at the register the cashier asked if I Wanted to leave a tip. Tucson is loaded with bad tippers but I think it's rude to pressure someone into a tip. I leave 18-20% so I am not offended but it would for sure rub some people the wrong way.
