I wish we could award negative stars. The staff was friendly enough at this "family" restaurant but that's where the quality ceased to exist. The place was packed with locals who must not know what real good seafood tastes like. Our hope was to taste some yummy clam chowder and local seafood. We were sorely disappointed. The clam chowder was a tasteless bowl of goop. We would have liked some bread but were never offered any. We finally flagged down a busboy who brought us two slices of wonder bread. First off the dungeoness crab is canned. I ordered the crab cakes and they were edible. But the clam chowder was bland. My entree was the halibut and it was dry and vegetables were raw. After fifteen minutes she came out with steaming carrots and no other veggies. We had to leave. Did not receive credit for the vegetables, so we left no tip! This staff is knocking it out of the park. AMAZING staff in all areas of the restaurant. They have managed to let us enjoy going out to dinner during this shit storm Covid shutdown. The front desk is excellent at taking your reservation request (they text you when your table is ready, AWESOME) then our waiter was above and beyond entertaining, gracious, kind, very professional and we fell in love with him. We truly did not want to leave. Our server was Tyler and we can't thank him enough for making our anniversary evening even more special than it already was. Recently a friend and I went in to have some lunch and a few beers. I ordered the Fish and Prawns with Fries and chowder. The soup was incredible and fresh. The Main course I ordered was out-freaking-standingggg. So delicious and I knew the fish and prawns were prepared right and fresh from my experience. My friend made a request to have chowder on top of his fries, topped with cheese, bacon, fried egg and green onions. I'd made this before for customers at a kitchen I was in and was surprised when my friend ordered it. So fast forward to when it arrives with everyone's food and we dug into it and holy shit!!! It was phenomenal. The Cook ( I believe his name was John) came out without us even asking for him and he said to us "Hi guys! That was fun to make are you enjoying everything? How's it tasting?" We replied with "outstanding....just perfect thanks so much." The guy is a great chef and totally professional!!! We will be back regularly. Went here with family July 27, 2019. I had the bloody Mary, it was good but not the best I ever had, best thing about it, it wasn't overly spicy. Clam chowder was a little thin only had one clam in a cup did have a little bit of crab probably by accident. Skip the Ahi salad it was not fresh, dressing looked like French dressing but had wasabi in it, lots of wasabi to hide the fishy taste. read more

OMG ! Seriously, the absolute best fried fish & shrimp EVER! So light and crispy absolutely NO GREASY taste or feel. We ordered the seafood platter and just could not be happier with our selection. I just wish we lived closer so we could visit this restaurant more often. Whenever we come and visit my son in SLO, we always stay in Morro Bay. This is absolutely our new go to restaurant. If you're expecting a big group, don't expects to get service from this place. The moment we came in with 14 ppls, they already made their mind that they don't want to service this many. We ask to split our party to two groups and immediately told us that's not possible. They want to keep some tables for smaller group that are 2-4 ppls. The host was rude and the waiter who acknowledge us told us go ahead and give them a bad yelp. So here it is! Customer services tips: be more understanding and tell customer "I'm sorry we really can't service large party right now. I can't take all of you right now but can take 5 here and the other can wait for next opening". The burger was thin and way overcooked. Just barely warm when I got it, in no universe had that uncuttable patty ever been 1/3 of a pound. Not even up to "quarter-pounder" standards. After checking in and settling into our rooms (Best Western San Marcos Inn), dinner was the last item on our agenda. One of my coworkers wanted a restaurant with TVs inside so that he can watch the 49ers game (he didn't care for the Dodgers). We decided to dine at the Dutchman's Seafood House because not only was it within walking distance of our hotel, but we also liked that they had TVs in the bar area, the casual dining atmosphere, a great of Morro Rock and afterwards, we took a stroll around the area (checking out the various gift shops while I caught a bunch of Water Pokemon) before heading back to the hotel for the night. Parking: It was a 5mins stroll from the hotel. They do have a parking lot, or you can park in the street. After browsing through the menus, here's what we got: Drinks: Iced water - refilled upon request. Only one of my coworkers got a beer. I got the $24.95 Cioppino served with a cup of clam chowder (or salad). The New England clam chowder was served first with a small bag of crunchy oyster crackers. The clam chowder was smooth, creamy and hearty. It definitely warmed up not only my palate, but my hungry soul as well. I would definitely get it again. Afterwards, my Cioppino came and I dig it! For the serious seafood lover, this meal was awesome! Generous portion size filled with delectable pieces of plump and hearty mussels, clams, shrimps and calamari. The salmon pieces were also great, but watch for some bones! I ended up picking out a couple pieces of small bones, yikes! The tomato broth itself was savory and zesty. I was also happy that it didn't tasted super salty or spicy either. Lastly, served with two large slices of garlic bread, my tummy was happily satisfied. I would recommend getting this dish, especially, when it gets chilly, yum, yum, very comforting! As for my coworkers, each one of them got a different meal. Sorry Yelpers, no pictures of their meals (non-Yelpers). One of them got the $16.99 Pasta Primavera with a side of $3.99 chicken breast (he's not seafood fan). Another coworker got the $14.95 Fish & Chips that comes with French Fries and Coleslaw, while the other one got the $17.99 Fish and Shrimp Combo that also comes with French Fries and Coleslaw (he also ordered a cup of clam chowder too). Service: Our food came out in a good and timely manner. Service by both our waitress and another male server were both nice and friendly. Water was refilled when asked and empty dishes and dirty utensils were cleared away quickly when we were finished. Ambience and Décor: Clean and spacious dining along with great views of Morro Rock. The ambience was relaxing and inviting. We also liked that both TVs had on the 49ers and Dodgers game on. Overall, we had an enjoyable dining experience. I wouldn't mind dining here again. read more

Very nice restaurant with a gorgeous view of the Bay. The decor was a nicely put together nautical theme and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had no problem with the service and we had our choice of seating. My wife and I came of a late lunch and I ordered fish and chips and my wife had the clam chowder and salad combo. My fish and chips were well seasoned...not greasy and the fish was very good with a great crust. The fries were a bit salty but overall it was crisp and golden. The presentation was good. My wife's clam chowder was a little too thick and a little pasty and too little clams. The green salad overall was OK and the Ranch dressing greatly enhanced the salad. Overall the experience was good but the next time we want to try the cioppino, oysters and mussel. A couple at the next table order it and it looked great. read more

The fries were fine, and the fish was cooked well but could have used more seasoning. The level of service my dining companion and I got was also fine. The food is local and very good. I got the smoked tuna melt which is caught by a local fisherman. My only gripe is the straw served in our water. I mentioned to the waitress that straws should only be served on request, she shrugged her shoulders like she didn't give a hoot. So, after our meal I asked to speak to the manager, he came by our table and I told him how great the food was however straws should only be served upon request. he got very defensive and said that they don't have any paper straws yet and then walked away. he came back and mentioned again that they don't have any paper straws and my friend and I let him know that a state law was passed in September. he was not aware of the law which is rather surprising. What a great little Beach Town Seafood Restaurant. It's right on the water with beautiful ocean view. The service is excellent. Some of the best clam chowder around. The fish sandwich was very tasty. There's just indoor CD. There is no outdoor seating. They have a nice little bar area with two TVs to watch any of your sporting events. It is table service. Delicious food and excellent service! The poke nachos are bomb!!! Definitely felt safe with the distancing between the tables.

All around it was just okay. The food was okay. We had the seared ahi tuna as an appetizer- too much pepper and the dipping sauce left something to be desired. I had the turkey club and a cup of clam chowder, none of it was amazing but it also wasn't bad. I've had better clam chowder in Sacramento. My brother had the chicken club and seemed to enjoy it, but didn't say it was fantastic. My sister had the ahi tuna salad and it is what you would expect out of a salad. And my mom had clam chowder and get the same way I did, it was okay. Our server was very bah humbug, but she was attentive. I won't make it a point to come here again if I'm in Morro bay. read more

This was our second visit to this restaurant within the past year. Parking is usually available right outside the restaurant except on weekends and holidays and is free. It is located right on the water's edge offering beautiful views of Morro Rock and Morro Bay. Enjoy a cold draft beer or a cocktail by the window. They offer a few IPA's on tap too. They have a separate section for customers with dogs. Service was a bit slow in this section, maybe because there were no other customers besides us. Service and food were generally good on both our visits. I would recommend this restaurant. read more
