Does it surprise me that people have had bad experiences at The Draft? Of course not. The Draft isn't spectacular. But I've never had a bad time there. And they have daily food specials that justify me coming back. This is the kind of place that's either filled with college kids, or filled with people in their 20s and early 30s that wish they still were in college. But, 25 cent wings on Sundays and Mondays, a burger, beer and fries for $6 dollars on Tuesdays, $1 half-drafts on Thursdays. This place is cheap, and service is generally pretty good. Thursday at The Draft is kind of a mad house, but going on an off-night it's much more of a low-key experience. In the summer time the scene is bizarre, but very Allston. The inside is blasting Top 40 Hip-Hop and filled with the bros, but The Draft has a back patio, with a separate bar, hanging patio lights, and much more of a plaided, hipster, conversation-driven atmosphere. So I only come here for their specials. That being said, I think they have some of, if not the best, bar food specials in Allston/Brighton. Sunday all day and Monday nights are unlimited wings for 35 cents each with many many flavors to choose from. My faves are the cooperstown and extra hot buffalo. However, they do charge for blue cheese sauce but it's only 25cents and gets you a good amount of sauce. Tuesday nights are even more awesome because for $7 you get a beer (draft of course), a burger, AND fries. This is cheaper than McDonalds folks...Tastier too without the shame of eating at a large artery clogging corporation. Also, the draft beer selection, while not massive, is pretty decent at as it is mostly or all craft beers and is always rotating (read: no crappy bud light with your $7 burger fries and beer deal). There are some other specials like taco night and steak tips and fries night but I've never tried them as I'm still impressed with the above two. As for the place itself, it's pretty roomy inside complete with pool table, big bar area, comfy booths, buck hunter, darts, and even a patio in the back. The Draft cannot be reviewed without comparing it to what it was. Kinvara was a fun place when I was underage in college. Now it's been renovated so there's more seating and a cleaner floor. I've been at night and it's full of college kids of the preppie frat genre. Not my scene, and yet very similar to why I used to come here... Yesterday afternoon my roomie and I were both home early enough to take advantage of the $3 lunch special in the mostly deserted bar. My turkey burger was ok and her sandwich was pretty good, especially considering they were so cheap. Our $9 pitcher of Miller High Life combined with the afternoon sun shining in from the open windows set a great mood. So verdict - good for the cheap eats and empty room during daylight hours, different vibe at night. read more

Came here on a weekday afternoon and sat outside. Not too crowded, but there was only one server. He wasn't the most attentive but I also wasn't sitting and waiting forever with an empty glass. Though when I asked him to recommend a good local beer, he just shrugged. Not too helpful. (Luckily I just got what my friend was having - a Cisco Grey Lady - and it was delicious.) The food was GREAT. I had the chicken salad melt, and even though it came on marble rye when I asked for wheat, I loved it. The chicken salad was nice and chunky, with bits of onion and celery. And the fries were awesome. Just what I was in the mood for. Plus they had half-off food for ladies that night. Score! My friends like to come here because you can smoke on the patio, which is awesome in the spring and summer. So at least one star for that. The food here is decent - my favorite is probably the the turkey burger with the jack cheese. The sliders, chicken parm and wings are decent too. I'm a sucker for cheap wings, and they do their special I think on both Sunday and Monday nights. The service is alright. The servers are nice enough, but I don't think they have enough for outside during the evening/nighttime, so it's a good idea to put your beer order in once you have about a 1/3 left on your current drink. Came here once on a Sunday afternoon - we had the patio to ourselves and a kind of funny back-and-forth ensued when our waiter seemed totally surprised that my vegetarian friend would care that the veggie burgers were cooked on the same grill as the normal burgers. A dive that doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. If you're not into shitty dives in a college area you're not gonna dig the draft. But if you go in for some wings, they've got 'em pretty damn good (and cheap). Some of the best traditional-style to be found in the area. The Draft is a fun place on a Thursday or Weekend night. The people are always entertaining and theres an interesting mix of college kids. You've got people from BU, AI and I've seen Northeastern and BC also. Regardless, they're all on the thin line of annoying/funny. The drinks come cheap at the Draft, and the selection is pretty good. They've got a full bar and some good draught beers. The best time to go is in the summer, when the patio out back is open. Not only is it another area but they've got another fully stocked bar back there. The Draft is fun, especially if you don't know where else to go on a given night. 3 stars for drink selection, location and patio. read more

I have been to this place a couple of times and I really enjoy it! It gets really packed at night, but it's a great atmosphere, there are games and people listening to music, you might have to fight your way to the bar for a drink, but the bartenders are pretty fast and aware that you are there, so don't fret! There is table service available, but it might take a while if it's a really busy night, but the wait staff is amiable and the drinks are strong and at a good price. Thursday-Saturday: Unless you are a college kid just stay clear. There are way to many college boys in too small polo shirts. It is packed and not worth it. 25 cent wings on monday and sunday. They are probably the best wings I have ever had. I love the cooperstown and the garlic parmesan ones the best. When it's busy, and it gets BUSY you will most likely not be able to find a seat. There is usually only one waitperson on staff and things are sloooowww. But relax grab a beer from the bar and get ready for the tastiest wings in Boston. Also, chili cheese fries are $6 and huge and delicious. My girlfriend always gets the tuna melt which is also rediculously good. Edit: Service has really gone downhill. The food takes so long to come out and sometimes it's not fully cooked. After an enjoyable lunch at the Sunset Grill, we were ready to sit on a nice outdoor patio to take in the gorgeous, sunny afternoon. After asking the host at Sunset, we headed on over to this establishment and straight to through the back door to the patio. Ahhh, this was exactly what we were looking for! Huge tables and patio chairs, complete with umbrellas. I was too full for a beer but I generally hate fruity cocktails so I asked the waitress if she could get me a sidecar. She didn't know what that was (isn't it a classic?) but she said she'd ask the bartender. It's traditionally cognac, orange liquer and lemon juice. I had meant to order it with whiskey instead and I so wish I did because the drink was absolutely too sweet. Ughh.... I couldn't taste any liquor, it just tasted like lemonade. Not what I was looking for at all. It's a shame that bars these days don't know how to properly prepare the classic drinks. The service throughout was fine, nothing spectacular. What's worse, is all of the drinks- regardless of what you get- are served in large tumblers; the type you would expect to get a glass of coke in. Totally inappropriate. I would have much rather shelled out the 9 bucks for a properly made drink in a smaller, more appropriate container. This place would probably be great if I came in with a craving for a cold beer (they have an alright selection) but not for a nice, relaxed cocktail. read more

I love going to the draft. They have great customer service, many beers on tap, and a great kitchen. I tend to go every Tuesday and get the burger, fries, and ANY beer for $6, probably one of the best deals in town. Definitely worth checking out for a great bite and brew. read more

Sigh :T I used to LOVE coming here with a big group of friends when we first learned about their 25 cent wings deal. I wasn't expecting much but their coopertowns were out of this world! Their drinks weren't bad either, I think I tried their Fuzzy.. Navel? and thought it was Delicious ! But the reason why we kept coming back was the coopertowns. After a while, the service starting going from good to a-ok to just downright crappy. I've tried going in, seating myself, waiting for over 20 minutes where the bartenders and waitresses made eye contact with me and walk past me. I walked out without a hi or bye or sorry. The Draft is a nice place to plop down with some pals and have a beer, not for a girls night out dinner. My roommate and I (both of us females) decided to grab dinner and a beer around 7 on a Wednesday and I think we were the only women in there besides the solo lady bartender. I'm not hating on the man cave vibe, but I am warning those girls out there that this is not a "let's catch up and talk about girl stuff" kind of place. We both got the Draft burger which comes with the options of turkey, beef or veggie. The roommie is a vegetarian and said that this veggie burger was good - so vegetarians don't shy away from the draft menu. Overall, the experience was good. The waiters/bartenders were attendtive and fun and It seems that they have a lot of specials. I will be returning to the draft either during a bar hopping trip or for a night with a special. Nice neighborhood joint. Came here for the first time last week (despite having lived a short walk away for 2 years) and it was a pleasant find. Nice outdoor space, good beer selection, and solid bar food. Got the $2 taco special and it was quite good. There is a big indoor space as well and a pool table and lots of TVs. Came here for 25 cents wings for their Sunday special. Ordered the honey mustard and their extra hot wings. While waiting for the wings, we decided to order some water and cokes. As I was about to drink my coke i realized that there were a lot of strange white and red things floating in the coke. I look at the water cups and the same thing were floating! Gross.... I had a great time here last night! I mean, I was in the company of awesome friends and alcohol... so that kinda makes for a good time regardless. BUT the Draft definitely added to the good times - mostly in the form of the other patrons of the bar. There were a couple people hanging around by us dancing in the most hilarious way ever! Eventually I joined them and added to the good times by trying out my Dance Central moves - LOL. Ladies, I would not recommend the actually dance floor area unless you're into skeevy guys. Every time I passed the area to go to the bathroom, I noticed several creepers lining the edges of the floor, presumably waiting for fresh meat Also, it stayed open super late - I think because of daylight savings time. All I know is I was very, very drunk--and when I went to the bar--and ordered a Manhattan. The bartender was baffled. I drop by this place on sundays and mondays for the drinks and 25¢ wings. The bartenders are cool, the doormen are laid back, and everyone seems to be having a good time. It gets awfully crowded, but is worth the wait, because of all the so-called wing specials in Boston, this place actually serves good wings in a few different flavors. If you dont like chicken, they have a bunch of other pretty cheap eats as well. The only real downside to this place is the riff-raff that is attracts. There could be a bunch of Irish dudes here on a J1 visa getting rowdy and spitting horrible game to the young ladies coming to the bar. On March 15, 2019, the bouncer allowed my two white friends into the bar and saw my Indian heritage and began to question my age, claiming that I'm younger than 21 - despite the fact that I'm married and in my mid twenties. Despite the fact that he can scan ID's to check their legitimacy, he refused to even scan mine and told me he can't take the risk. Continuing my reviews of Allston bars before taking on the rest of town, I've arrived at The Draft. This bar is fine - not bad but not great. It has a little bit of everything though. On the left side there's an arcade game, juke box and darts, to the right there's a small stage where they'll let most bands play. If you head out the back, there's a whole outdoor area that's relatively new. In summer, the outside is where it's at. There are beer pong tourneys out there on tuesday night with no buy-in and a $50 first prize. There's probably 20 long tables set up out there for those nights. Otherwise, there's umbrella'd tables and a bar built into the wall with TVs around it. I haven't tried the food, but the beer is fairly affordable. Draft beer (Coors I think) is $2.50 and the pitchers are $9. Monday and Thursday are when they have live music, usually for free. This place is a bar first and venue second, for sure. So why doesn't The Draft warrant 4 stars? Well because the indoor part is small. I can't imagine a dance floor really emerging in there on Friday / Saturday when the have a DJ. The bartenders are usually guys and are not attentive or friendly. Moslty, The Draft just doesn't have a great vibe. I've never been in and said, 'Hey that song they're playing is awesome' or 'Holy crap, she is gorgeous.' Everything about it just hovers in mediocrity. read more

Great low key bar. Sunday afternoons for football and $0.25 wings are ideal. Trivia Wednesdays are also great fun. I avoid it Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to avoid the college crowd but all other times are great. Decent selection of beers and liquors. Menu will satisfy all cravings for bar food from burger to nachos to spinach and artichoke dip. Patio is a great hang out with the fire in the corner and reclining patio furniture. They have a back patio with a fire pit and there's always some sort of food/beer deal going on. On Tuesdays they do beer pong night if you cant let your college days go. I go here Fridays with the husband for their $5 lunch menu items. Five dollar hamburgers! Yay! We usually sit outside, which is great when there's beautiful weather to enjoy. It always take a long time to actually get our food but I think that's due to the fact that there is only one guy serving both inside AND the patio, so I'm not too fussed about that. The burgers are good, but don't expect them to be perfection. They will always ask you how you want it cooked but it'll always come back med-well or well. My husband has yet to get his medium burger with the nice pinkish middle. But, it's only five bucks and you get to eat outside, so I think it all pretty much evens out in the end. read more

I have no idea why it's taken me so long to review The Draft. As many others have noted, this is a classic example of why you should not judge a book by its cover. The food and prices speak for themselves. If I'm ever in the area on a Monday or Tuesday night, I always make sure to stop in for their food specials. The 35 cent wings on Monday night are ridiculously good and the $7 Burger + Beer special on Tuesdays is a steal. Their double battered fries that come with the burgers are also amazing. Tip: Order another burger + beer special if you want another beer. It's nearly the same price and you get another burger! I'm sure one of your savage friends will help you eat it. However, $1 draft nights when the crazy college kids are back is always a mess. read more
