The bartender's unphased reaction when I pointed out that he was about $3.50 short when I paid with a $20 was indicative of intent to steal from me. He refused to provide the full amount. I called the police to report the refusal. The policeman whom I spoke with was not surprised because the way the bartender had tried to steal so unabashedly was happening in the city. Recognizing the scenerio, the policeman urged me to write this bad review. However, I've found it increasingly difficult to enjoy myself there the way that I used to ever since the management decided to hire this ruffian with long black hair and a mischievous fire in his eyes. He's proceeded to greet me daily as "big sauce" despite my repeated attempts to convince him to stop. Went back here during phase 2, their patio is super nice and one of the only (if not the only in the Allston area). The drinks on tap were limited, which was disappointing, and the service pretty slow (and the menu is a shorter list, due to the present crisis I am assuming), but overall had a very nice evening in a very nice setting with friends. read more

Great spot. Food is good and so are the drinks. Very affordable and the service is decent too. There were a wide variety of people in the bar, from foreigners, to townies, to college students, all of which were nice. The only thing that bothered me about this spot is the quality of the TVs. The TVs were old and had clearly been used for many years causing the quality to not be great. In addition the bar had hanging lights which block the views of some of the TVs. Wanted to give my business after a long day of work at a bar in back bay and popped in for a drink and app, but was yelled at for a credit card to start at a tab by the bouncer at the door. I never normally leave reviews of bars, since I do work at a bar. BUT, I went to the draft with my friends last night for her 21st birthday hoping to make it a great night despite COVID. It was pouring!!!! outside and we were soaked when we got there and the bouncer was more than rude. He told us there was no room, even though there was no line, come back later, and we couldn't even wait in the doorway to be out of the rain. Then when he finally let us in after being rude for 15 minutes in the freezing rain, he took our IDs and made our birthday girl show her Facebook on top of her passport. How do you fake a passport????? Her phone was dead and she had no second form of ID because she lost her wallet and he was so extremely rude. He also harassed the rest of us about our IDs even though we are way past 21. Damn, why such a bad rating? I'm not a Bostonian, so I don't know how valid my opinion is, but I freaking loved this place! TWENTY-FIVE CENT CHICKEN WINGS! Yes, I said $.25! A freaking quarter for one chicken wing. I believe this deal is valid all day Sunday (PERFECT FOR FOOTBALL!) and after 6pm on Mondays (also perfect for football!). Original hot and Cooperstown were my favorites. I came here for Sunday lunch and my group of six had a total of 78 wings, a couple of beers, and enjoyed football on 4 flat screen tv. Too bad they didn't have any of my west coast teams playing. Note: You have to order them in intervals of 6, and they have 9 different flavors! And get their beer battered fries. Mmmmmmmm. Cheap wings and beer on draft. Your typical college bar. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was one waitress/bartender serving the entire place. Once did I see another person help bring out wings but then he was never to be seen again. The wait was so long to get anything, we ended up just walking up to the bar every time for extra plates and napkin etc. She hustled for being the only person available to take orders, make drinks, serve the food etc. Wings were pretty good for 40 cents a piece. I initially wanted to try the garlic parmesan wings but the smell of them was off-putting, which was strange because I like the smell of both garlic and Parmesan. This place is probably an example of a typical bar in "America". It has a bar and an actual menu which features sandwiches and hamburgers. They have a decent selection of beers on tap and in bottles. The interior looks like you have walked into a typical American bar with the wooden furniture not looking elegant, but "utilitarian". They have plenty of flatscreen TVs so you can watch sports. There is a table where you can play a game of billiards as well. I came with a huge group of people because they were offering this really cool deal where for $6, you can get a hamburger, fries and a beer on Tuesday nights. This is actually significantly cheaper than getting a hamburger, fries and a soda drink from other places in this area like UBurger or even Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Although it's not the best hamburger I have ever eaten, I think they can definitely get the job done better than McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's and when beer is actually included in the price, it's actually a really good deal, since beer costs more than soda. They can let you choose any beer that is on tap or in a bottle. I asked for my hamburger to be cooked medium rare, with Swiss cheese. Hamburger was decently good. The bun was a little hard to chew and tasted like it was inside the bread bag for a good amount of time. The meat was juicy and chewy, and tasted really good with the lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle provided. Did not taste much of the Swiss cheese, but it did make the burger tastier. As for the French fries, they gave a small amount. They were really tasty, had this crispiness and this salt and pepper flavor that made the fries addicting to eat. One major disadvantage this place has is that they do not have Blue Moon beer, which I find really strange because it should be one of the standard American beers that the typical American bar should serve. However, I got a Harpoon UFO Hefeweizen, and it was a decent alternative, nice, cold, and refreshing. Service was okay, but the staff appears capable of getting the job done well but not really well. Overall, if you really want to get a decently tasty hamburger deal that involves beer on a Tuesday night, this is a great choice. I would most likely come back again only when it is a Tuesday night and if I am with a group of people. read more

Despite a couple of things going for it the Draft racks up a minor fail on this one. Ever since they were redone (with the rename) I haven't had much desire to go here. I was slightly pleased to feel justified after going there. Door staff were ok. Quick enough and they did the job. The bar almost spits the interior of the place with it's loop. Their "stage" is inside but seems like more of an afterthought than any other one in Allston. I was kinda psyched about the patio area. It's rather spacious and has the nice bonus of having a decent outdoor bar. Where they really fail is inside because it feels too cramped even without too many people. The setup of the bar magically makes it hard to order a beer. The kicker. A ton of what seem to be their regulars are absolute cock monkeys. Go for the patio. The Draft is where you go when you know the line at the Model will be snaking obnoxiously down Cambridge Street and you're not quite drunk enough to settle for TITS or the White Horse (i.e. you're still conscious). It's a grimey catchall, and I find myself here more often than I care to admit. This is one of the more diverse crowds you'll find in Allston/Brighton, and a pretty accurate cross-section of the neighborhood in general: you've got your hipsters, your bros, your BU kids, your hobos, and your sadly misguided folks who expected a respectable bar and/or pleasant evening. I love to hate this place. During the day, or on an off night, the Draft is aiight. You can catch a game on one of the bar TVs, and there are good burger/sandwich/beer specials, plus 25 cent wings on Sundays and Mondays (they're not Soul Fire wings, but they're not bad). I've had a few things on the menu - the quesadillas are nothing special (and kind of small), but the burgers and sandwiches/wraps are totally doable. Good fries. Nights here are another matter entirely. Thursdays are dollar drafts nights - the place gets packed and loud and rowdy and smells and looks like a frat house, but, duh. Fridays and Saturdays get predictably busy, and other nights are hit or miss. The outside patio/deck is pretty nice when the weather's good - it's surprisingly large and doesn't usually get as uncomfortably packed as the bar itself. The dance floor can be a fun option if you're into that sort of thing, though it's usually flanked by creepers, especially later in the night. Oh well. There's a pool table, which is nice during the day or on a slow night, but they really should try to move that thing on busier nights, because it takes up too much floor space and sometimes it's tricky dodging the pool cues when you're a little buzzed. Or a lot buzzed. The bathrooms here are repulsive. Tiny, cramped, never any paper towel to dry your hands, occasionally out of TP, at least one of the ladies' room doors doesn't have a lock on it at all times, and just generally gross. Perfect your hover before you go in there. I'll rip on the Draft til the day I finally grow up and move out of Allston, but I'm still going to end up here because I obviously hate myself. read more

The hubs and I just went here for some prime Sunday afternoon patio action. We had just gotten back from our first ever rollerblading venture on the Esplanade, where we teetered along valiantly as little old ladies lapped us. My toes were numb and my husband's arches had disappeared. In short: we needed calorie-laden pub food and a pitcher of beer to recuperate. That is exactly what we got, served by comely young ladies in uniforms of tank tops and just-acceptably short shorts. The patio had a really nice, breezy feel, with a mismatched assortment of tables and an awning-covered bar that reminded me of something you'd see in a resort. We got a 4-glass pitcher of Hoegarten for $15 and both our entrees were only $10. The fish & chips were great, but the steaks tips tasted like they'd been left out at room temperature for a few hours and then re-heated. Still, overall it was pleasant, and I liked the range of patrons - from a gaggle of women who were dressed like teenagers although clearly being at least 40, to the man in head-to-toe Dolce and Gabbana sitting quietly alone and methodically going through a plate of buffalo wings.
