My husband and I stopped into Viking Pub last night after a meeting. We ordered supper as neither of us had eaten since lunch and were ravenous. I had the veggie burger. OMG....it was out of this world! I have eaten veggie burgers in the past 6 months that don't come close to the quality of what Viking Pub is putting out there. So many veggie burgers fall apart when you pick them up and are bland. The burger I had last night held its form and was so packed with flavor. I could easily have eaten two. I had the sweet potato fries as a side......absolutely perfect. My hubby had the sliders and said they were out of this world as well. Service was spot on (as always) and they are started getting busy while we were there. It was nice to see customers flowing in. Viking Pub is a favorite for us....good food, good beer and cocktails and terrific staff. read more

This is the only pub in town do they always will get a good football game day vote. The nachos are decent. The beer is cold. The music varies so much it is hard to tell what kind of bar this place wants to be. read more

This is the best Winthrop has to offer. If you can get over the gross TVs that have remnants of what appear to be Pepsi on them, the $10 nooners (before tax), or that the bar doesn't carry change (that goes to the house), you may like this place. The talent at karaoke is so below average I need to bring a sleeve of nips (Jim beam black) into the bathroom every few minutes. I nearly got caught but blamed it on the chicken tenders here which are actually worth a try. Just keep an eye on the dollars they give you back when you break a $5, one of 1s was ripped in half. read more

Viking Pub replaces the former Kasbah restaurant. This is a wonderful family friend restaurant and sports bar. The menu is priced very affordable and has a wide array of comfort foods, staple dishes, and typical bar items with a unique twist. The staff is really personable and knows all their customers by first name. This restaurant is great for family lunch or dinner, drinks with friends, group outing, a date night and so much more. They have so many games and arcades for free! Great places to bring your kids, one of the arcade machines makes sure the player wins a prize every time, that's a really thoughtful feature by the owner to save the parents money! There's also about 20-30 TV's so this makes for a great venue to watch all the different Boston sports games (which is great because we frequently have so many of our amazing teams playing at once). To summarize - amazing and very affordable food, personal and great service, fun entertainment and free games- 5 stars for a great, affordable fun place that's everything Winthrop has needed! read more

Place has potential , liked it better when it was a Moroccan bar , least there was girls there , now it's a sausage fest. If they had more female bartenders wait staff this place would do very well, had a good menu good local bar restaurant, but way to many guys the main male bartender can be a douche there used to be a girl bartender there but prob left cause lack of business read more

I'm here on my first night ever in Boston and accidentally walked in when Viking was supposed to be closed for a private event. Instead of turning me away, they served me drinks, made me a plate of homemade food, and welcomed me like I was one of their friends. I immediately felt at home. I've been coming to Viking pub since it opened and it is already Winthrop's best bar. Located conveniently in Winthrop center, it gives the dub the sports bar it so desperately needed. Great addition to Winthrop. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love that there are games and things to do. Sometimes I get tired of just sitting around drinking but don't feel like trekking all the way downtown for a more active scene. I haven't had much food wise. But what I have had was decent. Their onion rings are pretty good. It's so hard to find a decent onion ring. Definitely adding this place to my usual hangouts. read more

I visited the newly opened place with another person for drinks and apps in a later afternoon mid week visit. It was quiet and not busy as I desired. The decor is simple and looks ok. Plenty of TV views from various angles. We ordered two drinks and an order of Super Nachos. The first thing I noticed when our drinks came was there was no napkin or coaster for the drink. This leaves a wet ring on the table with every drink you take. It is a small thing, but I found it to be aggravating and as it is fairly basic expectation. The nachos were ok..not great tasting, but when I was about 3/4 done, I pulled a piece of hair from within a bite of my nachos. I removed it from my mouth and placed on a side plate. When the server/owner came to check in, I brought the side plate hair to his attention. He literally said nothing, but gave me, a yeah right, look and walked away. The bill came and was paid by my friend. I found out after we left that the nachos were removed from bill, but no apology or even acknowledgement was given. We left and felt disappointed overall. I was more disappointed with the attitude and lack of verbal acknowledgement of the error than finding the hair that had been cooked with the nachos. Things happen and I understand that, but customer service or lack of is a reason I return or choose not to return to a place to spend my money. Overall not the best first impression and do not know if there will be a second. read more

Very good. An awesome atmosphere. The highest priced item is 16$, and it is a steak! So affordable!!! We got the hummus and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers. Both were awesome. The staff are courteous and the owner is very kind and nice to be around. I got the fried steak which was amazing. Totally recommend, one of my favorite new spots! read more
