Table

The Dinner Bell is such an historical treasure! It's the only remaining revolving table restaurant I know of in MS and we try to visit when we are in the area. The old house is a full of character and the owners are welcoming and hospitable. Even when really busy, the wait goes quickly since tables are seated 12 or so at a time. The fare is homestyle comfort food. My Cajun kids wish it was more spicy, but I'm sure they are in the minority. Standout items are the fried eggplant, fried chicken, and fried pork chops - there seems to be a fried theme here! On our last visit, the corn salad and meatball stew were new to us and also outstanding. We hope to continue visiting for many years to come!

Buffets might be a past thought during these Covid times but this is not your typical buffet. Every day there is a different spread of items on a lazy Susan and they are spacing you out in smaller groups at tables with locals and visitors and plenty of hand sanitizer just to make sure you are covered. We went on a Saturday so there was a menu of fried chicken, ribs, sausage, sides, and desserts. Plenty of fried eggplant which they are known for as well. If the table wants more of a certain item just request it and it will be on its way shortly. The sweet tea is sweet and the food is great. We took an hour and a half drive and would do it again. Hospitality and the food sold me on this place after constantly hearing about it. Take the road trip and come support this local charm.

This is more than likely going to be the least popular review on this page for The Dinner Bell so I'm apologizing to those who love it. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon after a funeral service right there in McComb and the place was hopping! The folks were friendly. Wait staff was extremely on top of their game and kept bringing fresh dishes out so that things didn't get cold and were constantly replenishing. The experience of the lazy Susan table and eating with people you don't know was kind of a neat experience. For those reasons mentioned, I give this a 2.5/3. As a girl who was raised in the kitchen cooking food like this, I wasn't really impressed with the food. All of the vegetables were sweet and were like mush. The fried chicken was delicious--I'll give them that. The red beans were also pretty good. The desserts were either super dry (chocolate cake was hard), or tasted like canned fruit compote with no cobbler crust. They also weren't warm. Cornbread was dry as all get out and the chicken and dumplins lacked flavor. The price for two of us to eat a Saturday lunch that I could've cooked ten times better was way steep ($55 for two minus tip). If you don't have anyone in your family that can cook like this already, then certainly enjoy this place. But if you do...give "em a call and offer to bring the biscuits!

The Dinner Bell is an iconic piece of McComb's history. Not only is it a unique and great concept, but the food, service, and entire experience is great too. You sit down at a huge round table, each chair as a plate and utensils in front of it. The entire menu for the day is spread out across the entire center section of the table, and you spin the center of the table to take some of which ever food you want to try. It is all you can eat, the food is replenished as it runs low. Going on Thanksgiving Day was interesting because they cooked and served turkey, ham, rice and gravy in addition to the normal Thursday menu. Almost all of the food was well seasoned and cooked well. The two things that stood out most to me was the fried chicken and fried eggplant. Both were seasoned great and had a great texture from the batter. It wasn't our first time here and it certainly won't be the last!

Incredible. Had huge lazy susan with so much delicious food.

Country cooking at its finest. The community table was fun, too. Sauerkraut was delicious as was the eggplant.

Ask the Community - The Dinner Bell

I've searched but not sure where to find those old glass and silver tea carafes from the old Dinner Bell. Could you please tell me where I might find them? I realize they will be expensive but that's ok. I just really want one.

I wish I could tell you where to find one. One of the reasons we stopped using them was I was unable to find replacements fpr the glass insides. Other than perhaps getting lucky in a flea market or an estate sale I honestly don't know where to find… Read more

Does anyone remember the old silver & glass ice tea pitchers Dinner Bell served from for many years back, before they switched over to the plastic pitchers? I'm looking for a replacement glass carafe or to purchase an entire pitcher silver and glass.

The main reason we switched was the increasing difficulty and expense of finding replacements. There are out there but are niot easy to find and are expensive when you do.… Read more

We started with the chicken wings with honey barbecue sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly and had a good flavor. Next were the bacon wrapped shrimp and these were one of my favorite items of the night. The hot honey sauce was so good and the presentation made them even better. The cheese pull and sauce dripping down really sealed the deal for me. Easily a 10/10. The brussels sprouts completely surprised me because they were SO good. They were topped with pecans, cranberries, pepper jelly, and parmesan cheese, and all of the toppings worked so well together to elevate the flavor of the brussels sprouts. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I've been back just for those alone. 10/10. I also tried the Bayou Mac & Cheese which was creamy, flavorful, and cooked well. My only complaint is that it was topped with tomatoes, which wasn't listed on the menu, so I would've asked for it without them, but no big deal. We also had the Cajun Pasta which was good as well. Everything came out hot & Overall, the service was excellent, everything we had was really enjoyable, and the experience matched the aesthetic of the restaurant. I'd definitely return.

Today, we enjoyed a Valentine's Day lunch at Lumora Kitchen and Bar in Covington. Lumora is…read morerelatively new and is by the same folks responsible for The District in Ponchatoula, which is one of our favs. Located on Highway 190, Lumora has a stylish, contemporary persona that is decidedly upscale, but still possesses a comfortable, laid-back vibe that is quite appealing. Service was friendly and efficient and Taylor took excellent care of us. General Manager Josie dropped by our table to share info on Lumora and her visit was appreciated. There is a full bar and a wide selection of specialty cocktails. Today I had a Blood Orange Mezcal Margarita and my wife had an Ex-Presso Martini. Both were great! I highly recommend the Mezcal spice served up on the Margarita's rim in place of the standard salt. We then enjoyed the Zydeco Eggroll appetizer, which the pepper jelly garnish made truly memorable. I then followed with the Buffalo Chicken Pinsa and my wife had the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pinsa. Both were excellent; hot, pleasantly spicy, and generously portioned. We took home a lot of food. Although we had no room for dessert, several on the menu looked quite sumptuous. In short, Lumora Kitchen and Bar is highly recommended! It's a great spot for lunch, happy hour drinks, or a special date night. We will return.

She had recently remembered they opened and we are always looking to try the new spots. We decided to just do takeout this evening as neither of us felt much like going out. After searching the menu we both decided on the Ebony Wings with the sweet bourbon sauce. She choose to do a side salad,I choose the bowl of seafood gumbo. We ordered, the Lady on phone was very welcoming and friendly and kindly took the order informed us it'd be 20mins,stated that if we drove up to front she'd gladly bring it out to us. I chose to go in when I got there to survey the new establishment and kind check the vibe, and Wow the restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Compared to the normal establishments in Bogalusa this is definitely top tier with the decor and seating. When we arrived back at the house and opened the boxes we were definitely surprised by the care took in the presentation of a to-go order. The wings tasted as good as they looked loved the sweet and spice! The Gumbo was good also better then average for sure also served with a slice of grilled bread which I enjoyed alot. My wife's side salad was awesome she said as most place don't put that many veggies in just a plain side salad, she was pleasantly surprised. So all this being said was definitely a good first experience for us. Look forward to going to dine in next time and trying more items on the menu. Great job
