You know you're in the right place when the bartender, waiters and even the manager are heading the man next to you. This place was obviously a local favorite. The people were all very nice, friendly. The kind of place you come and just sit for hours, and that in did! It's just that kind of atmosphere. Even when it got crowded it was still very nice. If you're into Martinis, like i am, enjoy their dirty Martini. I had 3, and each one was a great as the first. Of course, don't forget the blue cheese stuffed olives! If you like Whiskey however, they do infuse their own, and it was amazing. You know i had to try it. I had it in a classic Old Fashion. Their old Fashion doesn't typically have the infused Whiskey, but you can ask for it. Both were great drinks! Their menu has a variety of options for you. I personally like try things you don't really find everywhere. For me, that includes the Bone Marrow! It was amazing and let me tell you, the portion was very good. I did eat this all on my own, so i didn't get to try the Steak Tartar. I expected small appatizer protons but they were not small. Which is GREAT!!!! Moving on to my main course, this was an easy choice! If the menu races about having a fish that beat Bobby Flay, I'm all over it. I had their Fish & Chips. It didn't disappoint. Started the dinner off right - the house rolls were so fluffy and decadent. For my main course, I went ahead and tried the bavette, medium well. I'd say it was good flavor and not as tough as might be expected for me getting it medium well. Not pictured are the super creamy mashed potatoes that came alongside. It was almost too creamy for my taste, as I like to have some potato chunks, but the flavor made up for that. Sometimes overlooked, the playlist they were playing was 10/10 and it wasn't blasting through conversations. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. This current time they had different items in which we tried and our waiter was great, very attentive. My only issue came when we ordered the burata cheese it wasn't warm and we did an extra servings of the sourdough bread because it was 3 of us and the bread that came only was 2 slices, the 2 additional were $22. Whoa! $22 for 2 slices of toast. That could have been another appetizer for us. I wish Cooper our waiter had informed us prior to bringing it. We didn't know and that sticker shock in this economy should be said. I would still support this place but as a person who works the industry myself, I $22 for basically sourdough toast that just felt like this was price gouging. read more

Oh Dear was I impressed by the service of this restaurant! Their best ability is their availability- we stopped in on a busy Friday and were seated really quickly. However, if you are a larger party I would recommend making a reservation. The interior was charming, with a fun mix of booth style seats, arm chairs and traditional tables. We were on a pretty exposed corner but were able to talk without shouting, despite the chatter around us. The food was solid, if unspectacular- I wasn't wowed but they made up for it with impeccable service. We got the cranberry buckle (bright, light, and fresh), quiche (the caramelized onion was perfection) and the protein bowl (a great healthy option). They are more known for their meat, but have plenty of vegetarian friendly options as well. What really won me over was that my coffee cup was never empty, our waiter was a pro (always around but never third wheeling)! Overall, I would recommend this spot for a variety of purposes- first dates, catching up with old friends, or even awkward family gatherings around the holidays! read more

However, the entrees were only ok at best. We had several things. The carnitas chilaquiles were bland, had very little salsa, and contained a napkin+ of grease. The fried perch Benedict looked good, but the sauce was tasteless and, while cooked perfectly, the fish wasn't seasoned properly. The waffle in the chicken & waffle was doughy, which was unfortunate because the rest of the dish was very tasty. In the end, the price was too high for the poor quality. read more

Me and my Fiancé walked in for a bite to eat and drinks before we went to the Chicago theatre which is a 7 minute walk or so from this place. We arrived at the theatre about an hour and a half early so we ended up doing a Yelp search and found this place. But I actually had this place saved. We didn't have reservation...so we were asked to put our name down for 45 mins ...so we checked the bar didn't find anything, but we came back around and they were able to seat us. I heard about the Dearborn burger so I got that, I added bacon which usually helps, the bacon was good but the burger honestly didn't need it. The burger was really tasty. I do recommend! I also got an expresso martini which was pretty smooth and would get again. 'My fiancé just got the chicken and mushroom soup and of course ate off my plate fries, and burger lol. The burger was good enough to share since we didn't want to get too full. But the truffle fries were really good as well. Ambiance is very nice as well for a date night or just to grab the drinks by the bar, there's a really nice bar area but seats are limited. Overall it was a good experience! Would eat there again, but will make a reservation next time. read more

We were seated near the window. Since The Dearborn restaurant is located near the Theaters, there is a lot of foot traffic and makes for people watching. Our server was attentive without being overly intrusive, just the right amount of checking in on us throughout the meal. We ordered several starters, such as the Midwest Fried Chicken, Fish and Chips (that beat Bobby Flay), Caesar Salad, Peruvian style Ceviche, and Hummus platter. We really enjoyed all of them. I would order them again if I returned to this restaurant. I was impressed with how thin and light and crispy the fish and chips were. The Caesar salad had actual pieces of anchovies and were seasoned perfectly. The Ceviche was bright and citrusy and refreshing. We also ordered the Dearborn Burger, which was yummy. I highly recommend coming to this restaurant. Was staying in a nearby hotel and was desperate for a good meal after a long day of travel and The Dearborn did not disappoint. I highly recommend getting the prosciutto croquettes - they were incredible. As a big tequila and mezcal fan I was appreciative of the variety of tequila based cocktails they had. I really enjoyed the wolves cocktail. The strawberry rhubarb dessert was a little too tart for me but it had potential so this one was probably just a subjective miss. The mashed potatoes was melt in your mouth good and the steak was perfect. Service on the water refill was so on point! And lastly the ambiance and vibes were also a plus. The mushroom kale pizza was just okay and lacked flavor, the burger was dry, and the drinks were off (G&T was watery, gimlet was way too limey). The pistachio dessert looked fun but felt all over the place. It was more like a random mix of ingredients rather than a cohesive dessert dish. Truffle fries were the best part! Came here on a Friday night on a reservation. Service was good, waitress was attentive, but I was really disappointed with the food. Our pizza arrived cold, was extremely salty (got the one with the prosciutto), and was effectively a flat pita chip (crunchy as heck) with meat cheese and seasoning on it. Ordered the Burger Wellington because it sounded interesting, and the waitress clarified that we couldn't change the doneness from medium rare -- okay -- but it was practically RAW when we were cutting into it. Literally one of the best pieces of halibut I've ever had! The sauce it came in was flavorful and not too heavy, fish was cooked perfectly and the portion was large. I also got a mojito which was really good. My friend got the duck and really liked it! The waitress was really nice and everything came out fast! For dessert I got the strawberry dessert it was light but the strawberry tasted like jello a little which I wasn't expecting. The Dearborn is both classy and cozy for a nice dining experience in Chicago. Our service was attentive and made the experience overall very enjoyable. The Dearborn has mocktails available on their Harry Potter themed cocktail menu. My partner and I both got different ones. He got a berry lemonade of sorts and I got a cider based one. They were both quite good and fruity. We started with some Parker House rolls as an appetizer and those were nice to start the evening. They're shiny in the picture, but they're not at all greasy. Dinner time brought us first the Cured Meats and Hot Honey pizza. It's a nicely sized pizza that could serve two. The meats are under the cheese with this pizza. I would have liked a little more hot honey, or maybe some more heat to the honey. My partner got the Krabby Patty meal special, which comes with a standard burger and fries, along with a gummy Krabby patty. He said it was good, but the presentation is what makes it special, by coming in the SpongeBob box. Since it was my birthday, I also got a slice of cake (not pictured). If I were local to Chicago, I'd definitely make it a point to come again. So for your tourists, I'd recommend this place! read more

Visited The Dearborn for a girls lunch to get us in the holiday spirit. Right away I was blown away by the beautiful & elegant holiday decor. It was lunch hour on a Friday so a bit crowded, the staff told us there might be an hour wait; however there may be room at the bar or open high table available. We waited a bit and luckily there was a couple who just so happened to get ready to leave the high table. Once the staff cleared the table we were able to snag the table. The waiter was very polite & went over the menu including some seasonal items not on the menu. I originally was going to get my typical girl lunch of a salad and a fries, but was convinced by the waiters awesome pitch to try the gnocchi. He explained how some of the veggies in the dish was locally sourced by a nearby farm & I was sold. We ordered s couple glasses of bubbly while we chatted and waited. It didn't take long for my friends girl lunch to arrive, but one problem, they accidentally brought me someone else's dish. It was a quinoa salad dish. The waiter and I quickly realized what happened & he was super apologetic. So I had to wait a little longer for my dish to arrive. Once it did arrive, it looked amazing. However once I began to dig in, I realized something else was missing. I ordered chicken as you can order extra protein for this dish & it was missing. No worries, they brought out a thinly sliced side of chicken breast & I slid it right on. Again, the manager was very attentive and accommodating.
