Chocolate mousse and cannoli for dessert!
Alexa T.

My husband and I came here for Hudson restaurant week, and I'm glad we gave this place a try. It was perfect for date night. Nicely decorated for an intimate dining experience. Let's start of by saying that they probably offer the BEST deal this go-around. For just $25, you can get a complimentary basket of bread, a glass of their house wine, an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. You'll definitely leave this place stuffed. They also offer a great variety of options for each category. - There were at least 6-7 available house wines to choose from. My husband opted for the Merlot, while I chose the Moscato. - The appetizers you can pick from are: Mozzarella en Carroza, Fried, Calamari, Shrimp Cocktail, Baked Clams, Eggplant Rollatini, Zuppa di Mussels, Mozzarella & Tomato Salad, or the Mixed Green Salad. My husband chose the calamari and I picked the eggplant rollatini. The calamari app was average, and we squeezed a lot of lemon to get more flavor. The marinara sauce they served complimented it well. The eggplant was a much better choice. It came with 2 hearty portions. It was delicious, and I was full before I even got my meal. - For the entrees, you can choose: Char Grilled NY Strip Steak, Chicken Parmesan, Sausage Fusilli & Broccoli Rabe, House-Made Gnocchi Bolognese, Pork Chop Valdastino, Braised Lamb Shank, Basil Pesto Crusted Salmon, or Lobster Ravioli w/Shrimp alla Vodka. The portions are HUGE! My husband chose the steak and I picked the lobster ravioli. The steak was delicious, though a bit chewy. It was paired with mashed potatoes, spinach, and fried/caramelized onions. My lobster ravioli and shrimp was amazing. It was a bit rich, but I didn't mind it at all. I had leftovers for lunch the next day. - Finally, you have 3 desserts to choose from: Italian cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and a cannoli. I chose the mousse and my husband got the cannoli. Neither were anything to write home about, but they were a nice finish to a great meal. I believe they offer tea, coffee, or cappuccinos as well. Overall, this was a great addition to the restaurant week lineup. The only con is their website doesn't seem to have the updated prices for the restaurant side. I'll consider dining here (even though it's a pretty far drive from home) even without the deal. --------------- QUICK TIPS: - Go during Hudson RW! Good until 02/02! Such a steal for a solid dinner. - Street parking! But plenty of it on the Sunday night we went. - Get the lobster ravioli. SO DELICIOUS and worth all the calories!

Recommend this awesome place for parties. They open the front windows and makes it real airy. Food is great. No complaints here.

This was our first time here and we loved it! We always walk past and see the bar super busy. I…read morethink they have happy hour until 6. I saw on their instagram they have 15% of food on certain days in august so we thought it would be the perfect time to go. Even without the 15% off prices are super reasonable for the quality and portions. They even have a $30 pre fixe menu during the week and until 4 on the weekends where you can get an app, main and dessert. There are a lot of freebies with the meal too. They start you off with bread, butter, olive oil and this tomato sauce that is really unique and sweet and delicious. Then during the meal they give you for free a side of either fried croquettes or green beans and carrots. We got the green beans and carrots and they were very good. Then after the meals they have us for free a shot of cognac and pineapple juice, very nice to top off the meal. The service is excellent. All the little things they think of really elevates the experience. And they show you the specials on an iPad so you can see pictures of them. Between courses they clean crumbs off the tablecloth. There is a beautiful fish tank. It's a very nice experience. The music choices where kind of interesting though, when we got there they were playing pop songs which didn't really go with the mood of the place but then they switched to classics, they also played phantom of the opera. My husband described some of the music as songs you would hear at your wake. Which sounds funny and it is, but it does make sense if you heard it. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with breaded chicken on top. The Alfredo sauce is light and not overly thick or cheesy which I liked. It was very balanced and still flavorful. Also the fettuccine is homemade fresh! And you can taste it. Very good. Lots and lots of broccoli and mushrooms in it as well. I had to take half of it home. My husband got the sea bass special which he really liked. $45 was not a bad price at all for the amount of fish on his plate. Wines are $12 a glass. It's a pretty big pour. I got the de Toledo cocktail it was $14. Very good. Smooth and a hint of sweetness. We would definitely come here again!

I was looking forward to trying this place because so many people told me it was great. However,…read morethat wasn't quite my experience. Service was incredibly slow so a late lunch turned into 3 hours. I get the whole European sit and stay awhile attitude but this was just too much. For my starter I had a Caesar salad. There was hardly any Caesar dressing on it and it tasted mostly like lemon. For my main I ordered Flounder Florentino. Both the fish & the spinach were extremely salty. We were seated near the bathroom and the dining room started to get very crowded. People bumped into us heading to the bathroom or the bar. My friends had more typical red sauce dishes and both mentioned that the sauce was overly sweet. With so many Italian places in Bayonne, this is not on my must-fo list Parking is difficult because this is a crowded area of Broadway, so remember to feed the meter.

I was a bit hesitant to try despite the strong positive reviews, because I also read reviews about it being hard to get a table and they can be rude and its a whole thing and blah blah blah. I am glad I didn't listen to those reviews! It was an amazing experience and Angelina and her son were so nice to us. Yes you have to call up a couple of times to make a reservation and put in your food order, but trust me it's worth it. The decor is nothing like any other restaurants, and the whole experience is nothing like another restaurant. The decor is loud, American and flashy, with an undertone of warmth given by the red and Christmas lights strung everywhere. 4th of July meets Christmas meets Election Day, also somehow it evoked a feeling of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Over the bar area a TV was playing the football playoffs and also a radio was playing jazz and swing music. It's literally like going over someone's house. In a really good way, you feel welcomed and taken care of. Angelina's son pours your glass of wine to the brim and refills your sangria at no charge. He even taught us how to eat the stuffed artichoke after he saw us scooping it on our plate. Instead he said just take a leaf off and suck everything out. Which actually made so much sense and made the experience eating the appetizer much better. I never had a stuffed artichoke before so I can't compare it to anything, but it was a really fun experience eating it and was buttery and delicious. Food came out pretty quickly. The artichoke came out probably just 15 minutes after we sat down. The meals seem to range from 20-40 dollars a dish. I assume the prices fluctuate more than your average restaurant. Which is fine to me, food is more expensive nowadays and these portions are huge and delicious. It's family style! The artichoke was $22, the eggplant parm $30, lasagna $38 and the chicken marsala $40. Glass of wine $10, Sangria $13. Cash only I believe. 3 people could probably share one entree and feel content enough to go home. But we got 3 entrees and an appetizer for 4 people. We have dinner for the rest of the week! Prepare to overeat when you come here. The Eggplant parm was stand-out for me. It was my favorite. The sauce was sweet and light, and the eggplant was crispy and flavorful. The lasagna had a different tomato sauce on it, also good. The cheese in the lasagna was really good as well. There was also a side of pasta handed to us, not sure which dish it was supposed to accompany. It also had red sauce on it, but tasted different from the two other red sauces! That's a real level of detail, make 3 different red sauces when you could just use the same. It's just such good quality food. The bread that was brought out was very good as well, soft, - a good dipping bread! Ask for dessert because the Cannoli was delicious! I want to come back and try tiramisu if they have it. We spent 2 hours here. There were only 2 other tables on a Saturday night. I don't think it's as coveted as it used to be, it's easy to call her. Just find it on google maps and press the call button. I called when the place is closed (before 4:30), because I assume she is busy cooking and attending to the guests during dinner time. Then you just reserve a date and time. She messages you the menu. Though for some reason the text never came through on my phone so I called back and asked if she can send it to my husband's phone number. She did, and we got the menu. I called her back up told her our food order and a week later we sat down and enjoyed our delicious meal! This place is the best, and a really great place to go when your new to the town. They have been here all their lives and know everyone. I felt welcomed and now a true member of the Bayonne community. We will definitely be back.

Cozy and definitely feels like an old school Italian restaurant. Servers are welcoming and super friendly. Attentive but not too attentive. We made a reservation by calling, it was busy but there were still a few tables empty on a Saturday night. The bartender greeted us with a big smile. Honestly this place should be busier it's much better than the other Italian restaurants in town. We started off with calamari. $20. Perfect texture, and flavor. Not too salty, and not chewy at all. It was delicious. I got chicken martini off the specials menu, and it was two thin sliced chicken breasts in a lemon caper sauce with tomatoes and artichokes. It was exactly what I wanted and the chicken was soft, moist and delicious. It's a little pricey for the portion I think it was $34 but it wasn't the biggest plate of food. My husband got a pasta dish that he loved, it was homemade stuffed pasta with spinach and cheese. The menu had a lot of creative dishes on there, not all typical Italian dishes you would normally find. Dinner comes with fried polenta and carrots and broccoli which is a nice touch. There is another Italian restaurant in Bayonne that does that, I haven't seen that done before I moved here. I do like it! It's nice that a side like that is complimentary. And the bread is complimentary as well, it's a big baguette and it was super soft and flavorful but crunchy on the outside, very good for free bread! I also liked how they had two sets of forks so you didn't have to keep your appetizer fork for dinner. They also box the food up in the back so you don't have to do it yourself. Excellent service. I would definitely come back here again.
